• Finding the shortest path between two points on a grid, using Haskell.

  This is a problem that I can easily enough solve in a non-functional manner. But solving it in Haskell is giving me big problems. Me being inexperienced when it comes to functional programming is surely a reason. The problem: I have a 2D field divided into rectangles of equal size. A simple grid. Some rectangles are empty space (and can be passed through) while others are impassable. Given a starting rectangle A and a destination rectangle B, how would I calculate the shortest path between the two? Movement is possible only vertically and horizontally, in steps a single rectangle large. How would I go about accomplishing this in Haskell? Code snippets certainly welcome, but also certainly not neccessary. And links to further resources also very welcome! Thanks!

  I need to have resource messages that contain EL expressions be resolved when loaded from a ResourceBundle. Basically I have a number of properties files containing the text. Some of the text will look like the following: welcomeText=Welcome #{userbean.name} The only possible way I can see this working currently is implementing a custom taglib so that instead of saying: <f:loadBundle var="messages" basename="application.messages"/> I would have to use <mytaglib:loadBundle var="messages" basename="application.messages"/> #{messages.welcomeText} Given a user with username "User1", this should output Welcome User1 My implementation would then use a custom ResourceBundle class that would override handleGetObject, use the ELResolver to resolve variables etc....Ideas? suggestings? Implementations that are already available? I appreciate your assistance.

• Struts2 + Sitemesh + Freemarker doesn't work

  I've tried following every example i ccould find and i can't get struts2 + sitemesh + freemarker to work on a simple jsp. I have a very simple web.xml, a single action that just goes to index.jsp, and a simple .ftl decorator that just adds some text to the result.   Trying to understand this problem I'm running into. I create file welcome.rb. The contents of this file: welcome_message = "hi there" I then launch an irb session. And type require 'welcome'. That works fine. Then I type: puts welcome_message I get the error message undefined local variable or method `welcome_message' for main:Object What is the best way to bring in predefined variables and have initialization work done when you require something into your irb session. Global variables didn't seem like the right path.

  Hello I am wondering what algorithm would be clever to use for a tag driven e-commerce enviroment: Each item has several tags. IE: Item name: "Metallica - Black Album CD", Tags: "metallica", "black-album", "rock", "music" Each user has several tags and friends(other users) bound to them. IE: Username: "testguy", Interests: "python", "rock", "metal", "computer-science" Friends: "testguy2", "testguy3" I need to generate recommendations to such users by checking their interest tags and generating recommendations in a sophisticated way. Ideas: A Hybrid recommendation algorithm can be used as each user has friends.(mixture of collaborative + context based recommendations). Maybe using user tags, similar users (peers) can be found to generate recommendations. Maybe directly matching tags between users and items via tags. Any suggestion is welcome. Any python based library is also welcome as I will be doing this experimental engine on python language.

I am creating session when a user submits the login informaton it redirects to a process.php file which creates the session variables and starts session. Assuming that memory on graphics card is cleared before running such third-party untrusted code, are there any security risks? What kind of risks? Any way to prevent them ? (Possible sandboxing on gpgpu or other technique?) P.S. I am more interested in gpu binary code level security rather than hight-level gpgpu programming language security (But those solutions are welcome as well). What I mean is that references to gpu opcodes (a.k.a machine code) are welcome.
