  • Is Mapping SIMPLE data to winform control really as hard as it seems?

    Hi: I'm making a leap from MFC to WinForms. It has all gone smoothly so far; The windows/gui parts of winforms app development are making good sense to me. But. Now all I want to do is display simple data types in the controls on the form, and retrieve them from the controls when the user clicks. This is a very simple operation in MFC.. (DataExchange) but seems to be much more complicated in .NET. Binding ? DataObject ? DataSet ? no.. I don't want a dataset or records or columns or any of that. I just want to map an or a bool to a checkbox or a radiobutton.. I have looked but have not found any good examples of doing this in C++. Is it really this hard? Really? What am I missing? Thanks-

  • Getting values from another winform and passing it to current!

    Hello: I have 2 windows forms. The 1st one who gets active during start of the program has a button in which another 2nd windows form appears which has text field in which user type their name and HIT okay. Now in the 1st form I have a variable name: nameproccessed which takes the name from the second form. But the problem is my button which is in the 1st form has more functions besides taking name, how can I stop the flow of the compiler to take first the name from the second form and then process the rest execution of the function??? Here is the snippet of my code: //1st form //Class1 public string _nameProcessed = ""; private void btnGetSomething_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { showdial(); //some more functionalities in this function!!! } private void showdial() { InputName inm = new InputName(); inm.Show(); } //2nd form //Class2 public string name; private void btnEnterName_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { name = tbxName.Text; Class1 ict = new Class1(); ict._nameProcessed = name; this.Close(); } Now I want to take the 'name' from the second form put it on the _nameprocessed in the 1st form and then execute the rest of the function. How can I do that? Any help!

  • Where do I control the behavior of the "X" close button in the upper right of a winform?

    I'm venturing into making my VB.NET application a little better to use by making some of the forms modeless. I think I've figured out how to use dlg.Show() and dlg.Hide() instead of calling dlg.ShowDialog(). I have an instance of my modeless dialog in my main application form: Public theModelessDialog As New dlgModeless To fire up the modeless dialog I call theModelessDialog.Show() and within the OK and Cancel button handlers in dlgModeless I have Private Sub OK_Button_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles OK_Button.Click Me.DialogResult = System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Me.Hide() End Sub Private Sub Cancel_Button_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Cancel_Button.Click Me.DialogResult = System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.Cancel Me.Hide() End Sub and that seems to work fine. The "X" button in the upper right is getting me, though. When I close the form with that button, then try to reopen the form, I get ObjectDisposedException was unhandled. Cannot access a disposed object. I feel like I'm most of the way there but I can't figure out how to do either of the following: Hide that "X" button Catch the event so I don't dispose of the object (just treat it like I hit Cancel) Any ideas? The class of this dialog is System.Windows.Forms.Form. Thanks as always!

  • why winform using external dll(VC) and ocx(VC) control can only import one?

    we have a .net framework application with a vc dll and a vc ocx, and now if we only import one dll ,it is ok, but when we import both, it will pop a messagebox saying: Debug Assertion Failed! and i studied the child module of our application that import the vc dll, i found after the framework import vc ocx and initialize , then the function LoadLibrary in our module importing the vc dll would return 0, that means memory limited or call improperly, i use getlasterror() the error code is 1114. so it is very frustrated ,hope someone can help me.

    I would like to create a winform on the client side for interaction with Silverlight 3.0. The basic idea is using the winform browser. I definitely need both the directions of communication. Would it be impossible by using JavaScript as a midware for the interaction or some better ways? Or is there any new features of Silverlight 3.0 supported for this kind of winform application communication? The original one is one the client's browser to run but now I would like to migrate it to the winform application. For the sake of time-saving, please don't mention about the WPF because of the gap between WPF and the Silverlight.

    I'm creating a DLL with a reference to web services (I don't have the choice to do so) but I have to add web service references to the project that uses the DLL for it to work. Example, I have the DLL called API.DLL that calls a web service called WebService.svc that I want to use in a project called WinForm. First, I have to add a "Service Reference" to WebService.svc in API.DLL. Then, I add a reference API.DLL to WinForm but it doesn't work unless I also add a service reference to WebService.svc in WinForm. What can I do to avoid that last step?

Since the concept of the web is remote connection to a server both of data and resources, it should be possible to place both of this in cloud and have the winForm apps connect to it as if web Apps.     I need to check if a c# WinForm Window (FORM Class) has been initialized and waiting for user events. But I could not find out how to manage that. Therefore I had the idea to set the Control.IsAccessible Flag of the Form to true, within the OnLoad Event of the Windows Form. My question is now, what is the Control.IsAccessible Flag origin intended for? Or is there an other solution to check if the Winform is initialized. Thanks for your help

When my application is coming up, the element host is taking few seconds and the winform is getting displayed as a blank screen. How to fix this? Any ideas are appreciated.     I have a background worker that runs and looks for stuff, and when it finds stuff, I want to update my main WinForm. The issue that I'm having is that when I try to update my WinForm from my background worker, I get errors that tell me I can't modify things that were made outside of my background worker (in other words, everything in my form).     Hi Folks, We have a software house developing code for us on a project, .NET Web Service (WCF) and we are also paying for a test harness to be built as a separate billable task on a daily rate. I have just joined the company and am reviewing what we are getting from the software house and wanted to know what you guys in industry thought about it? Basically what we got was a WinForm that called the w/s that had an input area (Web Service Request) to drop our XML a Submit button along with a response area for the result of the Web Response and that's it... Our internal BA has created all the xml request documents so there was no logic put into the harness around this. Looking on the Net for a definition of a Test Harness I got this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Test_harness It states it should have these 3 below things: Automate the testing process. Execute test suites of test cases. Generate associated test reports. Clearly we have got none of this apart from a partial "Automate the testing process" via a WinForm. OK, from my development background I would expect someone to Produce a WinForm as a test harness 5 years ago and really should be using some sort of Tooling around this, I explicitly told the Software House I expected some sort of tooling (NUnit,NBUnit, SOAPIU) so we could create a regression test pack for future use. [Didn’t get it but I asked for this after the requirements were signed off as I wasn’t employed then :)] Would someone be able to clarify with me if my requirement for this is over realistic, I know if I did this, I would use NUnit and TDD and then reuse the test harness as a regression test pack in future? I am interested to see what the community thought. Cheers
