  • Wait for tasks to get completed in threadpool.

    - by Alien01
Hello I have created a thread pool in C++ which stores all tasks in a queue. Thread pool start n number of threads which takes tasks from queue , process each task and then delete tasks from queue. Now , I want to wait till all tasks get completed. Checking for empty queue for completion of tasks may not work as , task can be given to each thread and queue can be emptied but still the tasks can in processing mode. I am not getting idea how to wait for all the tasks completion. This is a design problem. Any suggestions?

  • Is it possible to dynamically adjust the priority of outgoing emails?

    - by davethegr8
This is more of a theoretical question, but is it possible to dynamically, and on an ongoing basis, adjust the priority of emails in the mail queue? For example, for all mail, set it's priority (p) to 1 (meaning send immediately). If N emails in the last M share similar or identical content, adjust the priority of this email such that it's priority is in the range [0..1] so that p is equal to 1 - N/M and other email can get sent before the similar/identical stuff. Or, if you have another idea or standard what is it? Some background: Someone put a mail() call in an infinite loop... And now we have to wait for the mail queue to catch up before anyone can send or receive mail again.

  • hMailServer Email + MX Records Configuration

    - by asn187
Trying to make DNS changes to enable email to be sent using hMailServer. My mail server is on a separate machine with a separate IP Address. I have already added MyDomain.com and an email account I have create a MX Record with the mail server being mail.domain.com an a priority on 20. 1) But the question is how do I now link this MX record for the domain to my mail server/ mail server IP Address? 2) What changes are needed in hMailServer to complete the process and be able to send emails for the domain? 3) In Settings SMTP Delivery of email: What should my configuration here look like?

  • SSL Certificate

    - by Dremarturg
Hey, I have a mail-server running and I want to buy a SSL-Certificate as they are pretty cheap now. I use mail.domain.com as reverse-DNS, POP3 and SMTP clients use mail.domain.com (some use pop3.domain.com and smtp.domain.com) for sending and receiving e-mails. The SSL-Submission asks me for a domain - is it mail.domain.com or domain.com as I do not have a Wildcard-SSL? I just want to use it for Mail. Or is it possible to use it for both by using domain.com? (Apache and Postfix/Courier on the same server and IP)

  • In 2011, what are the reasons to stick with plain text mails?

    - by Aaron Digulla
People entering college today have never known a world without an Internet. HTML was invented 1980, that's more than thirty years ago or 1.5 generations. But plain text mails are still common despite all their problems: Encoding issues Wrapped code segments No links No way to use the "a picture says more than a thousand words" lore Most of the security risks are now handled by the underlying browser engine and smart settings like: Don't allow JavaScript in mails Don't execute attachments Don't download external resources (like web bugs) On top of that, only very few people still read mail only in command line tools like Mutt. Knowing Mutt myself, I'm pretty sure you can configure it to display HTML mail with, say, w3m. On top of that, most HTML mail capable clients send two versions of the mail (pure text with an HTML attachment). I'm not sure if there are any people left on the planet which still use a 56kbit modem to access their mail accounts. So what reasons are left to stick with plain text mails in 2011?

  • How to copy Netscape email

    - by Olav
I think I have the Netscape mail-directory from old computer, how do I copy it to new computer? (Netscape 7.1 Mail, Thunderbird or Seamonkey). I think I have the files in Olduserbackup\xjuwtwtb.slt\Mail I create a new mail account with server pop.superuser.com, and find a directory with that name in C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Profiles\default\ou6umlif.slt\Mail I replace the files with those from the backup, but Netscape still shows pop.superuser.com in its interface. Is there some kind of registry setting somewhere I will have to change?

  • Dependency Injection and method signatures

    - by sunwukung
I've been using YADIF (yet another dependency injection framework) in a PHP/Zend app I'm working on to handle dependencies. This has achieved some notable benefits in terms of testing and decoupling classes. However, one thing that strikes me is that despite the sleight of hand performed when using this technique, the method names impart a degree of coupling. Probably not the best example -but these methods are distinct from ... say the PEAR Mailer. The method names themselves are a (subtle) form of coupling //example public function __construct($dic){ $this->dic = $dic; } public function example(){ //this line in itself indicates the YADIF origin of the DIC $Mail= $dic->getComponent('mail'); $Mail->setBodyText($body); $Mail->setFrom($from); $Mail->setSubject($subject); } I could write a series of proxies/wrappers to hide these methods and thus promote decoupling from , but this seems a bit excessive. You have to balance purity with pragmatism... How far would you go to hide the dependencies in your classes?

  • How to map email addresses on subdomains

    - by Glen Little
Is it possible to create email addresses like these: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] and have them all handled by one mail server, as three different mail boxes? (Many examples I've seen talk about directing mail to [email protected] into the same mail box as [email protected] - but this is not what I'm looking for.) I haven't specified the server technology being used because I'm wondering if this is generally possible. If you know that server x can do this, please mention it in your answer! Is it correct that MX records can be set to direct email to all subdomains *.mydomain.com to one mail server? Is that still true if there are also web sites at those subdomains (using A records)? Thanks!

  • Chinese Characters in email sent via PHP not showing up.

    - by rye
hi All, a funny problem. I send mail via PHP from my testing server with Chinese chars in it and it sends perfectly. Encoding is utf-8. When I upload the same PHP file to another server and try to send from there, the e-mail will look 90% fine in one mail client (web-based mail actually, gmail), but in my mail client (Apple Mail) it's all gibberish even when I try changing the encoding in the mail client. I'm stuck here because everything works fine on one server, but not on another so I'm not sure where to start looking for solutions. What's even more puzzling is that on the production server, the mail looks somewhat ok (strange case of some characters not showing) but in other mail apps it looks like garbage. any idea where I can start looking to solve this? thanks for any help here! Regards.. php script $books = json_decode ($_POST['books']); $body = ' ?? ' . $_POST['name'] . ',?????????,????????,???????? '; $iLen = count($books); for ($i = 0; $i ' . $book-title . • Rails: Design Pattern to Store Order of Relations

    - by ChrisInCambo
Hi, I have four models: Customer, QueueRed, QueueBlue, QueueGreen. The Queue models have a one to many relationship with customers A customer must always be in a queue A customer can only be in one queue at a time A customer can change queues We must be able to find out the customers current position in their respective queue In an object model the queues would just have an array property containing customers, but ActiveRecord doesn't have arrays. In a DB I would probably create some extra tables just to handle the order of the stories in the queue. My question is what it the best way to model the relationship in ActiveRecord? Obviously there are many ways this could be done, but what is the best or the most in line with how ActiveRecord should be used? Cheers, Chris

  • What is the lightest, basic Email Server for Linux?

    - by Xeoncross
I would like to install an extremely small mail server on my VPS and I am only interested in it sending out mail (activation links) from my web site. I don't need it to support mailboxes or incoming mail (although having that option for the future might be nice). The main requirement is that I don't have to worry about monitoring it as often and protecting against people bouncing messages off my server or wasting resources with incoming mail. I just want to send mail out. So something small that only listens on localhost would be ideal. The other requirement is that it is documented so I can learn how to set it up and manage it.

  • PHP mailer containing HTML not showing correctly

    - by kielie
Hi guys, here is some code I've been working on, basically I need to set up a auto e-mail that gets sent to a user after they fill in a form, which at the moment it is doing, but the HTML is not displaying as it should inside of the email client. I checked in Gmail, Outlook and Mac mail and none of them display the HTML correctly. Here is the code <?php session_start(); $_SESSION['name'] = $_POST['name']; $name = $_SESSION['name']; $email_1 = $_POST['email_1']; $email_2 = $_POST['email_2']; $email_3 = $_POST['email_3']; $email_4 = $_POST['email_4']; $id_num = $_POST['id_num']; $tel = $_POST['tel']; $email = $_POST['email']; //sets the current date $curDate = date("Y-m-d"); // Example require_once("mailclass/htmlMimeMail.php"); $mail = new htmlMimeMail(); $mail->setSubject("Your submission to MyWebsite!"); $mail->setFrom("MyWebsite <[email protected]>"); $mail->setFrom("MyWebsite <[email protected]>"); $email_address = $email_1 . "," . $email_2 . "," . $email_3 ."," . $email_4 ; $mail->setBcc($email_address); $day = " <body style="'background: #000000; color: #FFFFFF;'"> <div style="'background-image: url(http://www.website.com/images/mailerbg.jpg); width: 900px; height: 839px; margin: 0 auto;'"> <div style="'width: 620px; height: 280px; position: relative; top: 155px; left: 25px;'"> <h1><br>your friend $name<br><br><br></h1> </div> </div> </body>"; $mail->setHTML($day); $result = $mail->send(array()); ?> The code is pretty messy, from me screwing around with it so much, but basically none of the HTML shows up as it should in the email client once the message arrives at it's destination, how can I get it to display as a proper HTML page inside of the mail client? I am assuming that my escaping is not done correctly, which is why nothing is showing as it should? Thanx in advance!

  • DNS lookup fails when forwarding to subdomain

    - by Kitaro
In order to migrate to a new mailserver with little dns problems/downtime, I have set up a second postfix that is currently accessible on a subdomain mx record, eg. the main postfix accepts mail for [email protected] while the second postfix also accepts mail for [email protected]. I added a forwarding rule to postfix saying that postfix should forward mail destined for [email protected] to [email protected] (for regular local delivery) and to [email protected]. Local delivery still works as expected, but when trying forward the mail to the new mx, postfix appeds the domain part at the end of the forwarding address, resulting in [email protected], which of course fails and the mail bounces. Why does postfix mess with the alias name in that way and how can I turn that of?

  • 550 5.7.1 our Bulk Email Senders Guidelines

    - by darkandcold
Hello, I moved to a new server with integrated merak mail. since I forgot merak(used before), i missed to configure security options. So before I realize the issue, my smtp server was used by spammers for 2 days, hundreds times I configured security settings as what it should be (at least i hope) then i realize, i can't send e-mail to gmail or hotmail. gmail says "550 5.7.1 see our Bulk Email Senders Guidelines" yes, I saw its guidelines. first, I creat SPF records via msn senderID wizard. it completed very well. then as gmail says, I created DKIM dns records. (in Merak mail, there is option to create DKIM, i created it and save it to DNS as TXT record) it's been 2 days after doing the fixes above. but still i can't send mail gmail or hotmail. (P.S, some of my domain in merak is forwarded to my gmail account i mean when a mail arrives to [email protected] it will forward to my gmail. and the surprise it, merak mail can forward them very vell :S but can't still send mail from outlook etc.)

  • Output asp.net masterpage webform to html email

    - by Steve McCall
Hi I'm having a bit of a nightmare here! I'mv trying output a webform to html using page.rendercontrol and htmltextwriter but it is resulting in a blank email. Code: StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); StringWriter sw = new StringWriter(sb); HtmlTextWriter htmlTW = new HtmlTextWriter(sw); page.RenderControl(htmlTW); String content = sb.ToString(); MailMessage mail = new MailMessage(); mail. From = new MailAddress("[email protected]"); mail.To.Add("[email protected]"); mail.IsBodyHtml = true; mail.Subject = "Test"; mail.Body = content; SmtpClient smtp = new SmtpClient("1111"); smtp.Send(mail); Response.Write("Message Sent"); I also tried it by rendering a single textbox and got and error saying It needed to be within form tags (which are on the masterpage). I tried this fix: http://forums.asp.net/p/1016960/1368933.aspx#1368933 and added: public override void VerifyRenderingInServerForm(Control control) { return; } But now the errror I get is: VerifyRenderingInServerForm(Control)': no suitable method found to override Does anyone have a fix for this? I'm tearing my hair out!! Thanks, Steve

  • C# winforms: A problem with sending an email cointaining the image background

    - by Tony
Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to resolve the problem: I create the MailMessage object like that and send it: MailMessage mail = new MailMessage(); mail. From = new MailAddress("[email protected]"); mail.To.Add("[email protected]"); mail.Subject = "This is an email"; AlternateView plainView = AlternateView.CreateAlternateViewFromString("This is my plain text content, viewable by those clients that don't support html", null, MediaTypeNames.Text.Plain); (1) AlternateView htmlView = AlternateView.CreateAlternateViewFromString("Here is an embedded image.<img src=cid:companylogo>", null, "text/html"); LinkedResource logo = new LinkedResource("c:\\cop1.jpg"); logo.ContentId = "companylogo"; htmlView.LinkedResources.Add(logo); mail.AlternateViews.Add(plainView); mail.AlternateViews.Add(htmlView); Everything is OK, the mail has the image in the background. But the problem is, when I change in the paragraph (1) from (click) to (click) everything fails, the image is not recognized and is threated as a attachment ! I think that is caused by the first colon here background-image:cid:companylogo Is it possible to resolve that ?

  • Programatically send SMS to email using Verizon Motorola Droid on Android

    - by Dave
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew the proper way to send an SMS message to an e-mail address using Verizon's CDMA Motorola Droid phone. The internal messaging application appears to automagically do this. While 3rd party applications like SMSPopup don't seem to be able to properly reply to e-mail addresses unless you compose the message inside the messaging application. When the internal messaging application sends a SMS message there's a corresponding 'RIL_REQUEST_CDMA_SEND_SMS' entry in the logcat (adb logcat -b radio). When you send a SMS to an e-mail address it prints the same thing, so behind the scenes it looks as though it is sending an sms. The interesting thing is that if you look at the content provider sent box the messages are addressed to various 1270XX-XXX-XXXX numbers. On other services you can send e-mail addresses by sending a SMS to a predefined short sms number. And then formatting your SMS as emailaddress subject message i.e. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_gateway#Carrier-Provided_SMS_to_E-Mail_Gateways For example, using T-mobile's number (500) you can send a SMS to an e-mail using the following: SmsManager smsMgr = SmsManager.getDefault(); smsMgr.sendTextMessage("500", null, "[email protected] message sent to an e-mail address from a SMS", null, null); Does anyone know if It is possible to programatically send SMS to email messages from a CDMA Android phone? Does Verizon actually send your replies as SMS messages or are they actually sent as MMS or normal http email messages? Any ideas about how to intercept what the raw message being sent to see what's going on? It might be possible that Verizon somehow generates a fake number temporarily tied to an e-mail address (since repeated messages are not sent to the same number). But, that seems pretty heavy handed. Thanks!

  • Best emailing approach with template emails

    - by Harun Baris Bulut
Hi all, We are creating a project with lots of different mail templates in it. There are different messages for different purposes and we are trying to make the coding easy and understandable for the future. By the way we have different transport classes like e-mail, sms, twitter vs... Now we are doing this but I dont know if there is a better solution. We have a class called H2B_Message_Container_Mail_About_Blablabla it has 4 methods; interface H2B_Message_Mail_Interface { public function setName($name); public function setValue($key, $value); public function getMailBody(); public function getMailSubject(); } and in the mail body there are various variables as expected. before we send the mail, we get the variable values from the database with JSON format and decode it. Then we send it like; $mail = new H2B_Message_Mail(); $mail->setTemplate($newTemplate); $mail->send(); The question is; is there a better way to do this ?

  • Send Automated Email through Windows Service that has an embedded image using C#

    - by Refracted Paladin
    I already have a C# windows service that we use internally to monitor a directory on our network and when it detects a change sends off an email using our internal SMTP server to the specified groups of people. Now I need to embedd an image in that automated email. I understand that I need to create an AlternateView and a Linked Resource and use the Linked Resource's cID in the AlternateView, correct. What I do not understand is where do I put the image? Should I add it to my service project and set Copy to Output Directory = Copy Always? If so, how would I then access when creating my LinkedResource? Also, where do I put the image on the Server hosting the Service? Here is what I have so far but it doesn't seem to work. I don't get any errors, that I am aware of, but I do not get an email either. I am guessing it is looking for the image but that I do not have it in the correct location. // This event is called when an object(file,folder) is created in the srcPath void WatcherCreated(object source , FileSystemEventArgs e) { var folderName = e.Name; var folderPath = e.FullPath; MailMessage mail = new MailMessage(); mail.From = new MailAddress("[email protected]"); mail.To.Add("[email protected]"); mail.Subject = "New Enrollment for " + folderName; AlternateView plainView = AlternateView.CreateAlternateViewFromString("This is the plain text view", null, "text/html"); AlternateView htmlView = AlternateView.CreateAlternateViewFromString("Here is an embedded image. <img src=cid:enrollProcessID>", null, "text/html"); LinkedResource imageResourceLink = new LinkedResource("EnrollmentProcess.jpg") {ContentId = "enrollProcessID"}; htmlView.LinkedResources.Add(imageResourceLink); mail.AlternateViews.Add(plainView); mail.AlternateViews.Add(htmlView); var smtp = new SmtpClient("internalSMTP"); smtp.Send(mail); }
