• Resume recursive scp transfer (with rsync?)

  I was transferring several thousand files each ~1MB via scp and my connection was broken after the first 2k files or so. I wanted to know if there was a way to resume the recursive transfer w/o starting over. Something like $ scp -r [email protected]:/datafiles/ ./ ... Happy Transfer ... ... BREAK! ... $ rsync -P [email protected]:/datafiles/ ./ ... Continue transf... The problem is I can't seem to get the syntax correct if it is possible. Can anyone shed some light on if/how it can be done? PS. If you specify the slash after "datafiles" in the rsync line, does that transfer the directory or its contents? I saw conflicting comments when I googled.

• LaTeX: remove blank page after a \part or \chapter

  How to remove a blank page that gets added automatically after \part{} or \chapter{} in a book document class? I need to add some short text describing the \part. Adding some text after the part command results in at least 3 pages with an empty page between the part heading and the text: Part xx (empty) some text How to get rid of that empty page? P.S. Latex: How to remove blank pages coming between two chapters IN Appendix? is similar but it changes the behavior for the rest of the text while I need to remove the empty page for this one \part command only.

• Trying to cause java.lang.OutOfMemoryException

  Hi, I am trying to reproduce java.lang.OutOfMemoryException in Jboss4, which one of our client got, presumably by running the J2EE applications over days/weeks. I am trying to find a way for the webapp to spitout java.lang.OutOfMemoryException in a matter of minutes (instead of days/weeks). One thing come into mind is to write a selenium script and has the script bombards the webapps. One other thing that we can do is to reduce JVM heap size, but we would prefer not to do this, as we want to see the limit of our system. Any suggestions? ps: I don't have access to the source code.

• Replicate behavior of Android browser

  Hi all, I am writing for Android, and I can't figure out how to replicate the effect of the Android browser where the progress bar is at the top of the screen, with the webview below it, yet when you scroll down, the bar scrolls with the page. I've tried placing both the webview and the progress bar into a scrollview, but when I do that, the webview becomes completely unresponsive and will not load (or respond to any commands, for that matter). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S., I'm using the Eclipse IDE, and I'd like to to continue using the 1.5 SDK if possible to maintain backwards compatibility (and just to be able use my own application -- my phone isn't getting 2.1 for a couple of months).

• free geolocation geoip, are they viable?

  I'm trying to get a visitor's location based on their IP, pretty common stuff. My research so far shows that there's a database from MaxMind that costs $370 + $90/month... not the type of cost I can afford. Then there's a free version called GeoLite City. Anyone used these before? Drop a quick line here please. Why is one free and the answer so expensive. Is the free one usable, is it not as accurate, what's the catch? P.S. Any other suggestions are welcome.

• Combine master-detail databinding

  I have created data sources from my objects in my project, some of which have other objects as members. When I want to bind a some objects to a data grid I would like to display some of the values from the member objects in the data grid as well but the examples I have come across seem to use an entire other datagrid or controls to display these member object values. How can I combine these values into one data grid? (Preferably without creating a wrapping class) Can I achieve this with LINQ somehow? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks P.S. C# or VB examples will do.

  Hello, I'm having trouble displaying the only date part of a datetime into a textbox using TextBoxFor<,(expression, htmlAttributes). The model is based on Linq2SQL, field is a DateTime on SQL and in the Entity model. Failed : <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.dtArrivalDate, String.Format("{0:dd/MM/yyyy}", Model.dtArrivalDate))%> Ps : this trick seems to be depreciated, any string value in the object htmlAttribute is ignored. Failed : [DisplayFormat( DataFormatString= "{0:dd/MM/yyyy}" )] public string dtArrivalDate { get; set; } I would like to store and display the date part only on the details/edit view without the "00:00:00" part. • Installing php-module using port on osx lion. It works from command line but not from apache

• In ExtJS, how do I place two fieldsets side-by-side in a panel with a hbox layout?

  In ExtJS, I'm having a little trouble placing two fieldsets side-by-side in a panel with a hbox layout. The hbox layout seems to be unaware of the fieldset's height, and cuts it off, even if I explicitly set the panel's height to something large. Here's what it looks like: The blue border is the hbox panel, and there's 2 fieldsets inside, 'Client Info' and 'Owner Info'. The code is like so (simplified and runnable in Firebug): var clientInfo = { xtype: 'fieldset', defaultType: 'textfield', title: 'Client Info', items: [ { fieldLabel: 'First Name' }, { fieldLabel: 'Last Name' }, { fieldLabel: 'Cell Phone #' }, { fieldLabel: 'Work Phone #' } ] }; var ownerInfo = { xtype: 'fieldset', defaultType: 'textfield', title: 'Owner Info', items: [ { fieldLabel: 'First Name' }, { fieldLabel: 'Last Name' }, { fieldLabel: 'Cell Phone #' }, { fieldLabel: 'Work Phone #' } ] }; new Ext.Panel({ layout: 'hbox', frame: true, height: 400, width: 800, defaults: { flex: 1 }, items: [ clientInfo, ownerInfo ] }).render(document.body); P.S. • Testing C++ program with Testing classes over normally used classes

  Hi Guys, This will probably be a bot of a waffly question but ill try my best. I have a simple c++ program that i need to build testing for. I have 2 Classes i use besides the one i actually am using, these are called WebServer and BusinessLogicLayer. To test my own code i have made my own versions of these classes that feed dummy data to my class to test it functionality. I need to know a way of somehow, via a makefile for instance, how to tell the source code to use the test classes over the normally used classes. The test classes are in a different "tester" c++ file, and the tester c++ file also has its own header file. Regards Paul P.S.   Hello I have a comp with 2 eth cards, connected with patch-cord (direct eth. cable from 1st to 2nd). The linux is installed, I want to send data from 1st network card to 2nd. And I want to force the packet to pass via cable. I can set up any ip on cards. With ping I get counters on cards constant. Is it possible with tcp/ip sockets? PS. I need to write a program. which will send packets via eth, so stackoverflow-related question. There can be some OS-dependent way, they will help me too

Im' developing a system to manage documents and I need make an URL like this: routes.MapRoute("Documentos", "{controller}/{documentType}/{documento}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Home", documentType = "", documento = "", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional }); and the app working an URL like theses: "Document/Administrative/Contract" - (Index action by default to list documents of type 'Contract') "Document/Administrative/Contract/New" - (new action in controller) "Document/Administrative/Contract/10" - (detail action in controller) "Document/Administrative/Contract/Edit/10" - (edit action in controller) Document would be a Controller, and Administrative would be just a description in url to identify that documents of 'Contract' is Administrative... So, My doubts is about my controllers and actions, How should be the signature of the methods of controller ? Need I make an Area called Documents to do this more easy ? PS: Sorry for my english! • Splitting assemblies - finding the balance (avoiding overkill)

  I'm writing a wide component infrastructure, to be used in my projects. Since not all projects will require every component created, I've been thinking of splitting the component into discrete assemblies, so that every application developed will only be deployed with the required assemblies. I assume that creating an assembly has some storage overhead (the assembly's code, wrapping whatever is inside). Therefore, there must be some limit to the advantage gained by splitting an assembly - a certain point where splitting the assembly is worse than keeping it united (storage-wise and performance-wise). Now, here is the question: how do I know when splitting an assembly is an overkill? P.S I guess there are other overheads to assembly splitting, aside from the storage overhead. If anyone can point out these overheads, it would be much appreciated.

  I am adding a bounty to this question, hoping for some scientific research results. Thank you everybody! I have recently tried working on dark backgrounds, and it seemed (to me) to be easier on the eye. However, today I read Gerrie Schenck's comment on this answer, in which he said that mainframe developers were advised to use white backgrounds instead of black, as it is said that white is easier on the eye. So which one is actually better for the eyes in the long run? I would be thankful for any (scientific) references about the subject, as my eyes really need some relaxation. I wanted to make this question a community wiki, but I think that the least I can do to thank people is to reward their answers, so I'm leaving it as a normal question. • ssl_error_rx_record_too_long and Apache SSL

  I've got a customer trying to access one of my sites, and they keep getting this error ssl_error_rx_record_too_long They're getting this error on all browsers, all platforms. I can't reproduce the problem at all. My server and myself are located in the USA, the customer is located in India. I googled on the problem, and the main source seems to be that the SSL port is speaking in HTTP. I checked my server, and this is not happening. I tried the solution mentioned here, but the customer has stated it did not fix the issue. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this, or how I can reproduce this??? PS: If you can reproduce the problem with the following URL please let me know! THE SOLUTION Turns out the customer had a misconfigured local proxy! Hope that helps anyone finding this question trying to debug it in the future.

As I started I figured out I could really use a couple of Moose roles to decouple code a little bit. MySQL triggers seem to be just the thing -- but how do I capture the IP address and the web username (as opposed to the mysql username, localhost) of the user who invoked the trigger? • Dealing with sequences in OpenCV?

  I have 2 sequences. One (lets call this cvSeq x), which contains a number of contours (derived from cvFindContours) and a second (lets call this cvSeq y) which I have used cvCreateSeq upon, but doesn't actually have anything in it. I am looping through all the contours in x, and if a contour meets specific criteria, I add it to y. I am able to do the looping, but I don't know how to add an contour in x to y if it meets the criteria. Does anyone know how to add a contour in a sequence to another sequence (that is empty)? Code examples will be appreciated. PS: cvStartFindContours is not an option.

• How to read a CLOB column in Oracle using OleDb ?

  Hi, I have created a table on an Oracle 10g database with this structure : create table myTable ( id number(32,0) primary key, myData clob ) I can insert rows in the table without any problem, but when I try to read data from the table using OleDb connection, I get an exception. Here is the code I use : using (OleDbConnection dbConnection = new OleDbConnection("ConnectionString")) { dbConnection.Open(); OleDbCommand dbCommand = dbConnection.CreateCommand(); dbCommand.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM myTable WHERE id=?"; dbCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("ID", id); OleDbDataReader dbReader = dbCommand.ExecuteReader(); } The exception details seems to point on an unsupported data type : System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Unspecified error Oracle error occurred, but error message could not be retrieved from Oracle. Data type is not supported. Does anyone know how I can read this data using the OleDb connection ? PS : The driver used in this case is the Microsoft one.
