  • Installing SSL Certificate for use in IIS7, installation "works", but cert listing disappears

    Windows Server 2008 R2, IIS7. We have an SSL cert from Go Daddy. It's a wildcard cert, so it will work across subdomains (e.g. *.domain.com). I followed the instructions located at http://help.godaddy.com/topic/742/article/4801 for installing the certificate. I get to the IIS step, where I: Click on "Security Certificates" feature when the server is selected in the left pane Click on "Complete Certificate Request" Navigate to the .crt file on the file system Give it a "friendly" name, click finish The cert gets listed on the main pane now of this "Server Certificates" panel. But, if I refresh the page, or navigate away and come back, it's gone. And the cert is not listed as a viable binding when trying to bind a site to https. This seems like a pretty straight forward process, but clearly I'm missing something here. Any ideas?

    I would like to build a new computer to be used as a DVR and media server. I am thinking of using mythtv as the DVR software, but short of that decision I am completely open to suggestions. Requirements: Must be cheap. Must have low power consumption (since it will always be on). Should be quiet. Should be small. I'm really not sure where to start with this project, and am open to any hardware/software suggestions. Is it possible to build a small quiet and cheap system? *Keep in mind I am working on this project because I am tired of Cable rate increases, but I can't imagine living without a DVR so cost is very important and I would like the system to be sub $200.00. The system also needs to handle the new digital broadcast system. Thanks for the help,

  • Disable linux read and write file cache on partition

    How do i disable the linux file cache on a xfs partition (both read an write). We have a xfs partition over a hardware RAID that stores our RAW HD Video. Most of the shoots are 50-300gb each so the linux cache has a hit-rate of 0.001%. I have tryed the sync option but it still fills up the cache when copinging the files. ( about 30x over per shoot :P ) /etc/fstab: /dev/sdb1 /video xfs sync,noatime,nodiratime,logbufs=8 0 1 Im running debian lenny if it helps.

  • Project Server 2007 Task Updates hangs on 'Loading Grid...'

    A strange problem began occurring after applying MOSS2 (KB953334) and the August 2009 cumulative update to our Project server. When a user enters the 'Task Update' screen they are prompted to download a new ActiveX control. Upon refresh, and subsequent access attempts, the user is presented with a blank grid with the caption 'Loading Grid...' We have attempted to fix this issue by updating the 'Trusted Sites' list and changing the security settings according to KB818046. However, nothing seems to definitely fix the problem. Also, when the problem randomly fixes itself, it still occurs when viewing specific projects. Any ideas on a fix?

  • Throttle network bandwidth per application in Mac OS X

    I notice that iTunes seems to suck up all my bandwidth and doesn’t play nice with other applications that use the web when it's downloading. In fact, it doesn't even give itself enough bandwidth when browsing the iTunes Store while downloading large or many files (podcasts, TV shows, large apps, etc). I'm not concerned with getting all my downloads as soon as possible, they're really low priority, and I'd rather not have to do this while I'm awake, but I can't hit the refresh button if I'm in bed and forgot it already. Is there an application or tool via the Terminal to limit the download bandwidth that iTunes gets without also hindering web browsers or other applications? FOSS/GPL software is preferable, but pay software might be acceptable too.

    I have an Abit AB9 QuadGT motherboard which has a SATA-II controller. Connected to it I have a Kingston SSDNow V Series 64GB as boot drive and a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 as a data drive. I also have 2 x Optiarc AD-7170S DVD burners attached by SATA. Both SSD and HDD are SATA-II and the optical drives are SATA-I. I have just run CrystalDiskInfo and this is reporting that both SSD and HDD are connected at SATA-I (1.5 Gbps), not SATA-II (3.0 Gbps). I have the BIOS set up to use SATA drives in IDE mode. So a few questions: Is CrystalDiskInfo reporting correctly? Are the optical drives causing the SSD & HDD to connect at the slower rate? Is there any setting to force the SSD & HDD to use SATA-II? I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.

  • Very High Interrupt CPU usage in Win2k3 VM on vSphere

    Hi, I've been testing some software in a server virtual environment and I've noticed I get a huge amount of CPU usage on the Interrupts process. My question is, how does this relate to the virtual hardware platform as the rate is allot lower in a real system. Some how the hypervizor scheduler works hard to over come this problem but not as well as on real hardware does. Obvious things are high I/O and disk access but this application mostly just sits and works in memory allot.   • Missing NIC and USB devices

    Coming into work today, I've found we have a fwe different computers (different companies/networks/OS versions - all windows based) that are all having the same issue. 1) Network NIC is not able to be viewed from network connections. If you refresh, its saying the service is not started. Services state the service is started and running. 2) USB devices are not recognized when plugged in, scan for hardware changes, etc. We have managed AV, that is kept up to date, and a managed patch policy that has all these machines at the most recent patch. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced these same symptoms, and what they have done to resolve them.

  • Accessing apache on virtual pc

    I am using a virtual pc to test my website. I can access all my webpages on the virtual pc. However, images don't load correctly. I can browse to my images folder and view all of them. However, if I click an image it will not load, and the apache log shows the virtual pc's ip trying to view the image: 192.168.0.55 - - [25/Jun/2009:20:10:41 -0400] "GET /images/pic.png HTTP/1.1" 302 220 Now, if I refresh the page it loads. 192.168.0.55 - - [25/Jun/2009:20:10:51 -0400] "GET /images/bg.png HTTP/1.1" 200 214 Also, images won't load in html or css. It seems like a redirecting problem or something, but I have no clue how to fix it. Thanks for any advice

  • Resetting "HDD Warning???" with Zalman ZM-VE400 external case

    Whenever I turn on (or plug in) the Zalman ZM-VE400 I have, it shows HDD Warning???. Sometimes briefly, sometimes until the Menu button is pressed. The case contains a SSD drive and as far as I understand the warning relates to the S.M.A.R.T. status of which this drive doesn't support all parts. How can I reset the warning so I don't receive it every time when turning on the drive? Firmware reports: V400_01_040_N Here's what I have tried so far: Unplug and plug back in Open the case and remove the SSD, then put it back in Press the button on the back side (cover removed) while plugged in Press the button on the back side (cover removed) while not plugged in USB Connect = Refresh = Enter USB Connect = Safe Removal = Enter Advanced = Umount VHDD = Enter

  • Sony Vaio CPU fan runs at full speed after installing Windows 8.1 preview

    I installed the Windows 8.1 preview on my Sony Vaio E Series 14P (http://www.sony.com.au/product/sve14a27cg) and now my CPU fan is running at full speed all the time. When I first start my computer it runs normally, but a few seconds after reaching the Windows login screen the fan speed will suddenly jump up to max. It's pretty loud, so I'm hoping there's a solution! I've tried updating my bios to the latest version but that didn't help. I've tried programs like SpeedFan, but that wasn't able to detect my CPU fan at all. My CPU usage and temperature is normal and doesn't warrant the max fan speed.   • Changing Windows Media Center StartRecording Task Scheduler options

    Hi, I'm experiencing some occasional crashes waking from sleep and I believe it may be related to the Corsair SSD F40GB2 as my boot disk...or the new Ceton tuner I recently installed... I dunno what the real problem is as I can't reproduce the problem manually. I read somewhere that I should not allow the hard disks to sleep...so I'm trying that in the meantime... At any rate, I don't really care that the computer crashes so long as WMC will start recording the task as soon as possible...the task is scheduled to wake the computer 5 minutes before the recording starts. I noticed that there is a StartRecording param in the Media Center folder in Task Scheduler. There is an option (currently unchecked) that will retry a failed task. I would like to know if there is a way to enable that checkbox. My hope is that if my PC crashes when waking up for this task, that after it reboots the task will trigger again and start recording. The other solutions are all either to expense or do not provide the solution I'm looking for. This led me to look at some open source options including: http://apiaxle.com/ https://code.google.com/p/varnish-apikey/wiki/UsageManual Varnish seems like a fairly complete solution, however I would need to build a GUI to visualise the data. My final option would to build a solution from scratch using EventMachine and ruby. Any advice?

  • Tomcat 6 HTTPS connector: keep alive timeout not being respected

    I'm using Tomcat 6.0.24 on Ubuntu (JDK 1.6) with an app that does Comet-style requests on an HTTPS connector (directly against Tomcat, not using APR). I'd like to set the keep-alive to 5 minutes so I don't have to refresh my long-polling connections. Here is my config: <Connector port="8443" protocol="HTTP/1.1" SSLEnabled="true" maxThreads="1000" keepAliveTimeout="330000" scheme="https" secure="true" clientAuth="false" sslProtocol="TLS" /> Unfortunately it seems that the server closes the connection after 65 seconds. The pcap from a sample session goes something like this: T=0 Client sends SYN to server, handshake etc. T=65 Server sends FIN to client T=307 Client sends FIN to server (I'm guessing the 5 minute timeout on the client is due to the HTTP lib not detecting the socket close on the server end, but in any case -- the server shouldn't be closing the connection that early) (edit: this works as expected when using the standard HTTP connector)

If you have more frequency then more power it will consume. I choose Power Saver scheme to increase my battery life, however it reduces my core speed to half of the actual speed. I understand this happens because of SpeedStep, but I don't see any slowdown of my computer. So my problem is why we have such high frequency cores as it uses too much power. We can use low frequency cores. Actually I get confused between the two terms Speed of the processor and its frequency. So how much important is the frequency of core in case of any processor.

    My satellite receiver can stream the mpeg-2 video/audio output through lan. Using mencoder, I'm trying to build a script to encode and save the stream in real time with my Core2Duo 1.8 Ghz. Right now, I'm using a single pass, it produces good quality for a video rate of 800Kb/s, but takes more then 95% of CPU power, thus making a lot of frameskips is the computer is used while encoding. mencoder -o -vf lavcdeint -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:q=2:aq=2 -ovc x264 -ffourcc avc1 -x264encopts crf=25:me=hex:subq=9:frameref=2:nocabac:threads=auto -mc 3 So, I'm considering using a 2-pass encoding to alleviate the processor and record 100% of the stream. But I have no idea how to start. For the info: Standard Stream: mpeg-2 720*576 25fps HD Stream: 1920*1080 50fps (this is not my goal to record it, but it will be super cool if I could)

  • 3ds Max with Parallels on a MacBook Pro

    I am trying to get 3ds Max to run under Parallels on my 15'' MacBook Pro, but it is ultimatly failing. To get any decent frame rate I have to put all the setting to low, but even then I get weird graphical "gliches" when I play. Controlls are unresponsive and very laggy as well. I have increased the video memory to 256mb, but that doesn't seem to have helped. What else should I do to make the game playable? Mod-edit: I changed TF2 with a "random" 3D modelling software, which solves gaming related issues.

  • Error logging with PHP and mod_fcgid

    I have a mediawiki install that is acting up. Whenever I try to save an article, it goes to a blank screen. All though if I refresh that blank screen, it will go on to work. I have no idea why it's doing that, but it seems to be that it's a problem with PHP. I guess by default errors don't get logged when using mod_fcgid, because I can't find an error log anywhere. I tried enabling logging in the /etc/php5/cgi/php.ini, but that didn't do anything. How do I achieve php error logging? I'm using ubuntu 9.10.

  • What is the data transfer speeds within the disk, to other devices?

    I use Debian 6 on a HP Elitbook 6930 with 2Gigs of RAM. I was copying two AVI files, 1.5 GB in total, and noticed that the data copying was done at the rate of 4MB/sec. When I copy same AVIs to my Western Digital Passport 25G USB plugin drive the data transfer speed is 11+MB/sec. This speed is different if I plugin the drive to different USB ports. Interestingly, at work I also downloaded a 16MB IE8 exe on my virtual xp, run inside Oracle Sun Virtual Box, and it was downloaded AND saved within a second. We have a high speed network at work. :-) Why and how this difference in data speeds is possible?

  • Project Server 2007 Task Updates hangs on 'Loading Grid...'

    A strange problem began occurring after applying MOSS2 (KB953334) and the August 2009 cumulative update to our Project server. When a user enters the 'Task Update' screen they are prompted to download a new ActiveX control. Upon refresh, and subsequent access attempts, the user is presented with a blank grid with the caption 'Loading Grid...' We have attempted to fix this issue by updating the 'Trusted Sites' list and changing the security settings according to KB818046. However, nothing seems to definitely fix the problem. Also, when the problem randomly fixes itself, it still occurs when viewing specific projects. Any ideas on a fix?

  • Windows 7 remote desktop connection does not respond to mouse or keyboard

    Pretty much every time I connect to my work PC from home (both running Windows 7), I can see the screen refresh and signs of life (clock changes, notifications pop up), but I cannot interact with the remote machine at all. Mouse and keyboard input are both ignored. If I repeatedly reconnect, I will eventually get a connection that works. I think either a setting on my host machine, VPN client or work network is configured wrong. My home PC is running Windows 7 Professional. My work PC is running Windows 7 Enterprise. My VPN client is Cisco AnyConnect. Is this a problem anyone else has run in to? Any suggestions for settings to tweak?
