    I am looking for a guide on how to set up a local home server that will also be used as a web server. I have an old desktop with Ubuntu 12.10 and wish for this to be used as my central web and local server. I also have multiple Windows 7 systems at home that I wish to be part of this network and a wireless router. Can someone provide me with assistance on where to start (perhaps just the home network) or refer me to a guide on how to do this?

  • Slow down individual connections passing through a Linux router?

    We have a Linux server acting as a router/firewall for our office. Occasionally someone will upload a large file that takes up all our bandwidth. I don't want to implement any complex rules or traffic shaping, but I'm wondering if there is a way to slow down a single connection on the spot? I found tcpnice, but it doesn't slow down the transfers in my testing.

    Did someone achieve to do negative regexp (or part of) with Squirm ? I tried negative lookahead things and ifthenelse regexps, but Squirm 1.26 fails to understand them. What i want to do is simply: * If the url begins by 'http://' and contains 'account', then rewrite/redirect to 301:https:// * It the url begins by 'https://' and does NOT contains 'account, then rewrite/redirect to 301:http:// So far, i do that using 2 lines of perl, but squirm redirectors would take less memory

  • Error when sending mail to an external mail server from Postfix on CentOS

    I just installed Postfix. i have not yet done any configuration on it. Each time I try to use it to sendmail from another application, it keeps telling me that COnnection was refused from the ip I want to connect to.   • How to set up server side message filters on sendmail/Imap server?

    I currently have message filters set up in Thunderbird to put incoming email messages from various sources in appropriate server side folders. Since I envision starting to use a smartphone (Android) based IMAP client which doesn't support folders or message filters I'd like to move these filters server side and take them off the clients. The Linux server email system is sendmail and UW IMAP. Can someone steer me in the direction of setting up such filters on the server side?

  • Alternative to Outlook 2007 to sync with BlackBerry?

    Hello I installed Outlook (2007) since it's the most used PIM that can sync with a BlackBerry, but I find its UI ugly, and the different dialogs contain way too much items for my use. Does someone know of a good alternative? Ideally, it should be able to sync with BlackBerry directly, but I can live with one that goes through Outlook for synchronization. FWIW, I prefer desktop applications to eg. Google apps. Thank you.

The license was bought online and emailed to someone, however, that computer crashed and the email with the license is lost. Is there a way to recover the license from the laptop?     I have two servers that I have been able to connect fine as s1.website.com and s2.website.com I connected to s1.website.com earlier today without any issues, however, when I connected to s2.website.com it gave me the "Server Unexpectedly Closed Network Connection" I have researched this elsewhere and someone concluded it to a "brute force attempt" However, I know this is not the case.     If someone knows a software with these features: Works from the tray area Very lightweight Works also in Windows XP (preferably workstation, nothing serverish required) Can show a bandwidth usage graph, where I can easily see each PC's usage I can inspect a computer's connections, find out the ports and applications that are using them (eg, all bandwidth is consumed by PC #3, that's running uTorrent.exe from port 33003) ...I'd happily check it out. I'm only sharing my connection with (at most) 4 computers, I'd prefer not having to add hardware or reinstall my system. Thanks in advance!

  • Troubleshooting Cpanel Email delays

    I am running cpanel cPanel 11.25.0 on CentOS and have intermittment email delays (both coming and going) for a few specific domains. Emails from this server as well as major providers such as gmail, etc., do not suffer these delays. Any help with troubleshooting this issue? I am well aware this could be caused by something external but at this point getting someone else to fix this issue is out of the question.
