  • Can't get the JSONP workin' with WCF Data Services...

    What am I missing here? It seems from all that I read and watched, exposing JSON from a WCF Data Service should be as easy as adding the '[JSONPSupportBehavior]' directive in front of the Service Class. Problem is VS2010 doesn't recognize 'JSONPSupportBehavior'. Is there a reference I am missing? Seemed like, from alll the articles, it was supportted outta the box. TIA S.

ASMX services display methods in service ASMX services when running locally could be easily tested with a prebuilt form ASMX services provided a sample request and response XML message http://keithelder.net/blog/archive/2008/01/15/How-to-Get-Around-WCFs-Lack-of-a-Preview-Web.aspx In Glasshfish together with /test/TestApi?wsdl there's /test/TestApi?Tester but it doesn't work, I don't know if it can be used to provide similar features as above?

  • Switching from one connectionstring to another when moving from development to cloud

    Hello, I am working on a cloud application. When I test out the application on my computer I want to have my connection string set as follows in ServiceConfiguration.cscfg: <Setting name="DataConnectionString" value="UseDevelopmentStorage=true" /> When I publish to the cloud I need to have it set as follows: <Setting name="DataConnectionString" value="DefaultEndpointsProtocol=https;AccountName=xxxx;AccountKey=yyy" /> I keep going from one environment to the other and keep having to change the DataConnectionString. Is there a way that I can automate this? I looked around and can't see any examples but I'm sure some others have the same problem as me. Thanks, Nancy

  • How can one prevent page breaks between Tables in SQL Reporting Services 2005?

    I've been developing an SSRS 2005 report (a form letter) that contains two tables. The first "table" uses DataSet "A" to populate address fields on letterhead. The second table uses DataSet "B" to display a basic list of records that pertain to the addressed party. Even though the two tables are within the same page and all PageBreak* properties are set to "False", SSRS renders the report as two pages. How can I force both tables to render in series, without any forced page breaks?

    How do I test a class that utilizes proxy clients generated by a Web Service Reference? I would like to mock the client, but the generated client interface doesn't contain the close method, which is required to properly terminate the proxy. If I don't use the interface, but instead a concrete reference, I get access to the close method but loose the ability to mock the proxy.   • How do I set a SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services Template to a Default Font?

    I'm creating a new template to create reports from at a later date. I know how to create one, and I know where to save it. However, the problem is this. Everything that is created on the report uses the default font of Arial with a size of 10pt. I need to set mine to default to Tahoma 11pt. I can create a mock title, mock tables, etc and save those to Tahoma 11pt, but any new controls that are used on any version of this report will default back to Arial 10pt. How do I fix this?

But not even once the method didReceiveData. I wonder if, even though there is no USA locations, it will still send at least something? is there a way to know which are the parameters the function is waiting for? I don't have access to the source of the webservice but i can access the WSDL.

    Hi All, I have the following requirement. I have with me a database containing the contact and address details of at least 2000 members of my school alumni organization. We want to store all that information in a relation model so that This data can be created and edited on demand. This data is always backed up and should be simple to restore in case the master copy becomes unusable. All sensitive personal information residing in this database is guaranteed to be available only to authorized users. This database won't be online in the first 6 months. It will become online only after a website is built on top of it. I am not a DBA and I don't want to spend time doing things like backups. I thought Amazon's RDS with it's automatic backup facility was the perfect solution for our needs. The only problem is that being a voluntary organization we cannot spare the monthly $100 to $150 fees this service demands. So my question is, are there any less costlier alternatives to Amazon's RDS?

    My service returns an byte array, which I have to convert to an 'animated gif' (using imagetools since silverlight doesn't support it yet) I was wondering, is it possible to insert some code at the client, where I can do the conversion before the actual object is returned to whatever it is binded against? On the server side, the queries can be customized before it is sent over the wire. I'm asking for the exact opposite, can I do some on the fly conversions the moment they get of the wire and before they are returned to the controls. If I'm overthinking this and there is a smarter/better/easier way to do it, I'm all for such an answer as well

Ideally I would like to do something like: routes.MapPageRoute("ServiceSearchCats", "services/search/cats", "~/Services/Search.asmx/Cats"); (and therefore my endpoint for the service becomes "http://mydomain.com/services/search/cats", instead of the ugly "http://mydomain.com/Services/Search.asmx/Cats" url)

  • ASP.NET web services leak memory when (de)serializing disposable objects?

    In the following two cases, if Customer is disposable (implementing IDisposable), I believe it will not be disposed by ASP.NET, potentially being the cause of a memory leak: [WebMethod] public Customer FetchCustomer(int id) { return new Customer(id); } [WebMethod] public void SaveCustomer(Customer value) { // save it } This flaw applies to any IDisposable object. So returning a DataSet from a ASP.NET web service, for example, will also result in a memory leak - the DataSet will not be disposed. In my case, Customer opened a database connection which was cleaned up in Dispose - except Dispose was never called resulting in loads of unclosed database connections. I realise there a whole bunch of bad practices being followed here (its only an example anyway), but the point is that ASP.NET - the (de)serializer - is responsible for disposing these objects, so why doesn't it? This is an issue I was aware of for a while, but never got to the bottom of. I'm hoping somebody can confirm what I have found, and perhaps explain if there is a way of dealing with it.

From reading quite alot of discussions, I'm under the impression that there is no tool available to create the web service client in android automatically from a WSDL file. If this is the situation, what is the easiest approach for creating a communication infrastructure between the client and server, that can be updated easily in the future (plain GET, REST, use SOAP and manually parse responses) Initially, I wanted to build the web service and have the client created automatically with the provided WSDL file.     I have a read-only data file (for IP geolocation) that my web role needs to read. It is currently in the App_Data folder, which is NOT included in the deployment package for the cloud service. Unlike "web deploy", there is no checkbox for an azure cloud service deployment to include/exclude App_Data. Is there a reasonable way to get the deployment package to include the App_Data folder/files? Or is using Azure storage for this sort of thing the better way to go? (cost and performance wise) Am using Visual Studio 2013 and the Azure SDK 2.2

    Hello, I'm trying to create a report that displays for each months of the year the quantity of goods sold. I have a query that returns the list of goods sold for each month, it looks something like this : SELECT Seller.FirstName, Seller.LastName, SellingHistory.Month, SUM(SellingHistory.QuantitySold) FROM SellingHistory JOIN Seller on SellingHistory.SellerId = Seller.SellerId WHERE SellingHistory.Year = @Year GOUP BY Seller.FirstName, Seller.LastName, SellingHistory.Month What I want to do is display a report that has a column for each months + a total column that will display for each Seller the quantity sold in the selected month. Seller Name | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec | Total What I managed to do is using a matrix and a column group (group on Month) to display the columns for existing data, if I have data from January to March, it will display the 3 first columns and the total. What I would like to do is always display all the columns. I thought about making that by adding the missing months in the SQL request, but I find that a bit weird and I'm sure there must be some "cleanest" solution as this is something that must be quite frequent. Each bottom of the table (Table Footer), I have something called: "Total: " which is a sum of Total field. I called these textboxes are txtbxCurrent and txtbxProposed and the format is in currency already. This thing is running well. But now I need to get a total of these txtbxCurrent and txtbxProposed. How do I do this? Can I take the value of this or not? BTW ..     Is there a way to count only records that are not null; similar to "COUNTA" in Excel? I would think this would be very simple process, but nothing I have tried has worked. If necessary, I can try to work this into my SQL query, but the query is already incredibly complicated. Also, I've found very little documentation for how to calculate report totals, and how to total from groups. Would anyone have any recommendations on what to use as a reference?

    I'm running the lastest Ubuntu 12.04 AMI (ami-a29943cb) from Canonical on Amazon EC2 and quite often when I log in I get the message: *** /dev/xvda1 will be checked for errors at next reboot *** I have read a bunch of documentation on this and seem to understand that every so many reboots (around 37 see Mount count / Maximum mount count below) Ubuntu wants to check a disk for errors. I don't understand: If this is a virtual drive shouldn't it be less prone to errors? Was the image created with one of the flags set? If not what is triggering it? Why is fs_passno set to 0 on Amazon EC2 Ubuntu images? This is not the first one that is like this.
