• unrecognized selector sent to instance on deviceOrientationDidChange

  Right now my app should only supports Portrait. On Summary/Supported Device Orientations I have only selected Portrait so I'm hoping that my app will not rotate. I was testing the app on a device and suddenly I'm getting the following error randomly: [UIButtonContent deviceOrientationDidChange:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance It happens when I rotate the device SOMETIMES, is not consistent, and is not always over UIBUttonContent. I supposed that if I only select Portrait, deviceOrientationDidChange should not be called or should be ignored. Other times my app crashes with an EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=1, address=something) but it happens when I rotate the device so I'm guessing that both errors are related. I don't know what to do with this, it's hard to debug because I don't have feedback, the All Exceptions Breakpoint is not being called, so I don't know where and exactly why this is happening. Any idea on how to debug this is welcome.

But we need to implement the search funtionality programatically using the Dotnet Code to automatically search the string in pdf file.*To do so i didn't find any supported methods to find the string programatically. please provide the solution to to implement the search functionality in pdf files. • SQL Server CE, Visual Studio 2008/2010 RC, and Linq-to-Sql

  I added an .sdf to my project, added a table, added a Linq-to-Sql dmbl, and tried to add the table to the dbml. The result was an error: "The selected object(s) are an unsupported data provider" This happens in both VS 2008 Professional SP1 and 2010 RC Ultimate. I found someone talking about using SQL Metal to generate the file, but I didn't enjoy that 2 years ago, and after a little playing around I recall why. Does anyone know if this is going to be supported in the release version? Should I abandon SQL Server CE and just use SQLite (with DbLinq)? Thanks for any insight.

I want to see the generated SQL and after reading this answer, I use LinqPad. • A better way of converting Codepage-1251 in RTF to Unicode

  I am trying to parse RTF (via MSEDIT) in various languages, all in Delphi 2010, in order to produce HTML in unicode. Taking Russian/Cyrillic as my starting point I find that the overall document codepage is 1252 (Western) but the Russian parts of the text are identified by the charset of the font (RUSSIAN_CHARSET 204). So far I am: 1) Use AnsiString (or RawByteString) when parsing the RTF 2) Determine the CodePage by a lookup from the font charset (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc194829.aspx) 3) Translating using a lookup table in my code: (This table generated from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/goglobal/cc305144.aspx) - I'm going to need one table per supported codepage! There MUST be a better way than this? Preferably something supplied by the OS and so less brittle than tables of constants.

• Notifying iFrame page from Firefox extension?

  I'm writing a Firefox extension and need to notify an iFrame page of certain events. The iFrame page is contained within a sidebar created by the extension, and this iFrame page is controlled by me. When I load the iFrame page, the extension code needs to send a notification and trigger something to happen within the iFrame page. To accomplish this, I'm creating an event from the extension Javascript and firing the event, which the iFrame page is listening to. Unfortunately, when invoking document.createEvent(), this error pops up (copied, with the quotes, straight out of Firebug): Operation is not supported" code: "9 Any clues on the error, or suggestions on how to trigger something in an iFrame page from the extension Javascript?   I'm getting used to using nant for build releases. But I have started to use asp.net MVC, and i choice make the setup for installation with a .vdproj . But, when I call the: < exec program="${dotnet.dir}/msbuild.exe" commandline='"./Wum.sln" /v:q /nologo /p:Configuration=Release' / in nant, my result is: [exec] D:\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\Wum\Wum.sln : warning MS B4078: The project file "Wum.Setup\Wum.Setup.vdproj" is not supported by MSBuild and cannot be built. Someone have some clue, or a solution? If I use the devenv, I'll have a problem? Thanks in advance.

• Detect Installed Application URI Handler on Webkit browsers

  Guys, I have a question mainly related to the Iphone web browser but I am hoping the same solution would work on other browsers that are webkit based. I have a application (Iphone + Android) that registers a handler for custom URI (appuri://) on the Phone. I am able to launch the application by making a link to "appuri://act/launch" from my web pages. This works only if my application is installed on the device. If the device does not have the app installed then a message comes up "Safari was not able to open ....". What I want to do is detect if the URI Scheme is supported from the browser and then prompt my own message saying "please download the app ..blah blah blah" if the handler for the URI scheme is not found. Is there a way I can detect or find the list of URL Scheme handlers on the Phone from the Web Browser ?

• ODBC: Mapping of literal type names in create table statements

  I was wondering if data types in a a literal "create table" statement, executed over ODBC, are replaced with their database specific counterparts (platform is Windows/.Net/C#). I cannot find this feature in the ODBC docs, and there seems to be no list of literal "ODBC data types". However, I know that this works for Oracle, SQL Server and Access; the following statement is executed correctly, although the type LONGVARBINARY is no native type in all of these systems: CREATE TABLE (MYCOLUMN LONGVARBINARY) However, e.g. for Oracle the mapped native type depends on the used ODBC driver. Is this an undocumented feature? Is there a list of supported type names anywhere? Thanks!

• Good freeware COM/ActiveX Type Library Explorer?

  I used to have a dated, but valuable solution to display COM/ActiveX control- and type-library contents (ProgIDs, method names and signatures, enumerations, constants, interfaces/coclasses, etc.) of all such libraries registered on my system. It provided an Explorer-like overview of everything that was available to ActiveX development/scripting and served as an automatic API documentation tool since official docs for most COM/ActiveX libraries are either missing completely or fragmentary at best. My recent move to a 64bit Windows rendered the program I had unusable, due to internal dependencies on the 32bit VB6 runtime (comctl32.ocx) that is no longer supported on 64bit Windows. Does anyone know an alternative that still works?

  I have read this link : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb464156.aspx They said : "... the XNA Framework Redistributable file does not contain the Content Pipeline Build Runtime. Building content at run time is supported only when XNA Game Studio has been installed on the Windows-based development computer." Actually, before I know of that, I have already used a lot of content pipeline to help me read out my game's assets. And because of that, I am now very headache to confront the publish's problem "The application requires that the assemblies Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content.Pipeline 3.1.0.0 be installed ....." So I would like to find some ways that can help me solve this without convertion of my pipelines. So that I don't need to rewrite it all in new classes that manually load assets for me. • Should my connected web parts support IWebPartField, IWebPartRow and IWebPartData?

  I've been writing some simple webparts, and they communicate via a custom interface type. That's working fine. I've got one ConnectionProvider, with a variety of ConnectionConsumers. I see that the OOTB SharePoint webparts provide many standard connections, apparently through IWebPartField and IWebPartRow (IWebPartData seems less supported). I've tried to add a IWebPartRow interface to a provider, and found that it's not actually useful (apparently), unless it's shareing data that the OOTB components use, such as images, urls and users. Well, that's the impression I got, anyway... I've only done a quick experiment, and found it quite difficult to implement and test. Is there any point in spending time trying to add support for the standard webpart interfaces?

• Dynamically creating GWT screens using Metadata?

  I have an AWT applet application that needs to be ported over to GWT. The applet screens are described in meta data and the applet renders each screen dynamically using reflection. We'd like the same thing in GWT/ExtGWT. I've built a working version of this ExtJS whereby the metadata is turned into ExtJS Screen configs in the form of JSON. The drawback with this approach is the "wiring" of controls to data needs to be written in Javascript. GWT is preferred since it'd be all Java code, no JS. Upon digging in it's possible to render the screens using GWT off the metadata using GWT.create(). The problem I'm having is the wiring to hook a dynamically created button for example to an event handler requires reflection which is not supported in GWT. Is this conclusion correct? and if so, are there any other ways to achieve this type of dynamic UI using ExtGWT?

• Open Visual Web Developer Express file in Visual Studio Professional

  I started working on an Asp.net MVC website using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 a while ago. Just recently, I managed to get my hands on a copy of Visual Studio 2008 Professional (through DreamSpark). I installed the Service Pack, and also the MVC2 files for Visual Studio. However, now I can't open my project anymore. When I try to open the solution in Visual Studio, it tells me that the project type is not supported. Does this mean that I have to resort to using VWD Express again? Note: I installed MVC2 through the Web Platform Installer, and it says that it installed successfully, but yet when I restart the WPI, the box next to MVC2 isn't checked; if I check it and click "Install", it finishes the install process instantly and tells me that it was successful.

  I'm playing around with MongoMapper but I'm having trouble figuring out how to create a form for an object that has embedded documents. With ActiveRecord, I'd use fields_for but when asked if this would be supported a few months ago, MongoMapper author John Nunemaker wrote: "Nope and nope. It is really [not] that hard with attr_accessor's." OK, fair enough, but how do you write the form for this to work? I'm not interested in using the nested form implementations that are out there because I want to do this the "normal" way as I'm learning about MongoMapper. My model is simple enough - I've got a Person with embedded documents for email addresses, phone numbers, etc. I do not care about updating existing embedded documents. They can be re-created from the form input each time a Person is edited.

ChildViewController.xib contains a UIButton I want ChildViewController.xib to load in the ParentViewController.xib's UIView I have done the following: Created @property for UIView in ParentViewController Connected File's Owner to UIView in ParentViewController Set UIViewController in ParentViewController's NIB Name property to ChildViewController in Interface Builder Set ChildViewController view property to UIView in ParentViewController I was hoping this would load ChildViewController into my UIView in ParentViewController but no luck. I did get the following warning, which could be the culprit: 'View Controller (Child View)' has both its 'NIB Name' property set and its 'view' outlet connected. This configuration is not supported. I also have added additional code in ParentViewController's viewDidLoad(): - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; ChildViewController *childViewController = [[ChildViewController alloc]initWithNibName:@"ChildViewController" bundle:nil]; childViewController.view = self.myView; } Any thoughts on why ChildViewController does not load in the UIView of ParentViewController?

Would it be impossible by using JavaScript as a midware for the interaction or some better ways?   I placed a control into a grid. let's say the control is derived from public class 'ButBase' which is derived in its turn from System.Windows.Controls.Button. The code normally compiles and app works just fine. But there's something really annoying. When you try to switch to xaml-design tab it will say 'The document root element is not supported by the visual designer', which is normal and I'm totally okay with that, but the thing is, that all the xaml code is underlined and VS2010 says: 'Cannot create an instance of ButBase' although still normally compiles and able to run. I've tried the same code in VS2008, it said that needs to see a public parameterless constructor in the ButBase, and even after I put one it showed the same error. What do I miss here?

  Although Mono support is not a big deal for us, I figured OpenRasta supported it cause it has some commit messages about it.. Well, I tried to build it on Mono and got Ambiguous type references(after manually creating like 10 obj directories.) So I tried just using the prebuilt assemblies I had on hand and that gave me an Object Reference Not Set To Instance of an Object (the usual error I have with mono.. ) at OpenRasta.Diagnostics.DebuggerLoggingTraceListener.WriteAll (using xsp2) Is there official support for Mono or am I missing some sorta extra step for deployment?

However, when I tried to use align for the freespace column to right: @{Name="Freespace(byte)"; Expression={"{0:N0}" -f $_.FreeSpace}; align="right"}, ' I got error message "Specified method is not supported". Not sure if there is any way to align the value to right?
