  I'm am trying to upload a file into mainframe server using FTP. • Transmission shutdown script for multiple torrents?

  I have written a shutdown script for transmission. Transmission calls the script after a torrent download finishes. The script runs perfectly on my machine (Ubuntu 11.04 & 12.04). #!/bin/bash sleep 300s # default display on current host DISPLAY=:0.0 # find out if monitor is on. Default timeout can be configured from screensaver/Power configuration. Couldn't figure out how.(May be) by monitoring network downstream activity? then notify-send "Downloads Complete" "Exiting transmisssion now" pkill transmission else notify-send "Downloads Complete" "Shutting Down Computer" dbus-send --session --type=method_call --print-reply --dest=org.gnome.SessionManager /org/gnome/SessionManager org.gnome.SessionManager.RequestShutdown fi exit 0 The problem is that when I'm downloading more than one file, when the first one finishes, transmission executes the script. I would like to do that but after all downloads are completed. I want to put a 2nd check ( right after monitor check) if it is still downloading another torrent. Is there any way to do this?

  I know that it isn't possible to set the value of an input type="file" for security reasons... My problem is: I needed to style an input type="file" so what I did was have a button and hide the file input. like: <a href="#" onclick="$('input[name=&quot;photo1&quot;]').click(); return false;" id="photo1-link"></a> <input type="file" name="photo1" class="fileInput jqtranformdone validate[required]" id="photo1" /> These works great in all browsers except IE which gives me an access denied error on submitting through ajax. I'm using the ajaxSubmit jquery plugin (malsup.com/jquery/form/) So after reading for a while I tried to do: var photo1Val = $('#photo1').val(); var clone1 = $('#photo1').clone().val(photo1Val); $('#photo1').remove(); clone1.appendTo('form'); console.log(photo1Val) //prints the right value C:/fakepath/blablabla.jpg $('form').ajaxSubmit(options); The problem is that after this the value of $('#photo1') is empty... When the sender sends this text file of 8 bytes, the receiver end will become a 256bytes txt file and when i open the contents of the txt file, there are my infos plus alot of square boxes. • Windows Server 2008 R2 File Permissions

  I’m having some problems understanding some particular file permissions behaviour. Here are the steps to reproduce: Log into the server using the default Administrator account Create a text file (testfile.txt) in C:\ProgramData containing some arbitrary text Create a new user account and make it a member of the Administrators group Log in using new account and open C:\ProgramData\testfile.txt Edit the text and try to save Upon clicking save I’m presented with the save as dialog, which indicates that i do not have the necessary permissions to edit the file. This seems odd considering that the new user account is a member of Administrators. When I view the permissions of the file I can see the there are three groups listed, System, Administrators and Users. SYSTEM and Administrators have full permissions, however, Users only has the Read & Execute and Read permissions checked. It would appear that when I open the testfile.txt from the new users account, it opens in the context of the Users group, despite being a member of Administrators, is this correct? It would certainly explain the behaviour. The reason that this is an issue for me is that if I deploy an application via 'Run as Administrator', will normal users be able to edit the text files I install to ProgramData. Is this behaviour confined to Windows server or is it the same in Vista and Win7.

  I'm working through a small file upload script (learning experience) and I noticed that when selecting microsoft office related files (.doc or .docx for example) the file objects do not have a type specified: For .doc files I had expected the type to be "application/msword" and along the same train of thought .docx to be "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document". In the cases when the type cannot be determined is the correct course of action to look at the file extension and match that to the "expected" content / mime type? • Enable button based on TextBox value (WPF)

  This is MVVM application. There is a window and related view model class. There is TextBox, Button and ListBox on form. Button is bound to DelegateCommand that has CanExecute function. Idea is that user enters some data in text box, presses button and data is appended to list box. I would like to enable command (and button) when user enters correct data in TextBox. Things work like this now: CanExecute() method contains code that checks if data in property bound to text box is correct. Text box is bound to property in view model UpdateSourceTrigger is set to PropertyChanged and property in view model is updated after each key user presses. Problem is that CanExecute() does not fire when user enters data in text box. It doesn't fire even when text box lose focus. How could I make this work? Edit: Re Yanko's comment: Delegate command is implemented in MVVM toolkit template and when you create new MVVM project, there is Delegate command in solution. As much as I saw in Prism videos this should be the same class (or at least very similar). Re Ben's and Abe's answers: CanExecuteChanged() is event handler and compiler complains: The event 'System.Windows.Input.ICommand.CanExecuteChanged' can only appear on the left hand side of += or -= there are only two more members of ICommand: Execute() and CanExecute() Do you have some example that shows how can I make command call CanExecute(). I found command manager helper class in DelegateCommand.cs and I'll look into it, maybe there is some mechanism that could help. Anyway, idea that in order to activate command based on user input, one needs to "nudge" command object in property setter code looks clumsy. It will introduce dependencies and one of big points of MVVM is reducing them. Is it possible to solve this problem by using dependency properties?

Follow me at: twitter.com/scottgu] Extensibility in VS 2010 VS 2010 provides a much richer extensibility model than previous releases.  Anyone can build extensions that add, customize, and light-up the Visual Studio 2010 IDE, Code Editors, Project System and associated Designers. VS 2010 Extensions can be created using the new MEF (Managed Extensibility Framework) which is built-into .NET 4.  You can learn more about how to create VS 2010 extensions from this this blog post from the Visual Studio Team Blog. VS 2010 Extension Manager Developers building extensions can distribute them on their own (via their own web-sites or by selling them).  Visual Studio 2010 also now includes a built-in “Extension Manager” within the IDE that makes it much easier for developers to find, download, and enable extensions online.  You can launch the “Extension Manager” by selecting the Tools->Extension Manager menu option: This loads an “Extension Manager” dialog which accesses an “online gallery” at Microsoft, and then populates a list of available extensions that you can optionally download and enable within your copy of Visual Studio: There are already hundreds of cool extensions populated within the online gallery.  You can browse them by category (use the tree-view on the top-left to filter them).  Clicking “download” on any of the extensions will download, install, and enable it. Format document on save / Remove and Sort Usings on save The Format document on save option formats the tabs, spaces, and so on of the document being saved. Insert Guid Attribute This command adds a Guid attribute to a selected class. From the code editor, right-click anywhere within the class definition, then click Insert Guid Attribute. Show All Files This command shows the hidden files in all projects displayed in the Solution Explorer when the solution node is selected. It enhances the Show All Files button, which normally shows only the hidden files in the selected project node. Undo Close This command reopens a closed document , returning the cursor to its last position. To reopen the most recently closed document, point to the Edit menu, then click Undo Close. Alternately, you can use the CtrlShiftZ shortcut. To reopen any other recently closed document, point to the View menu, click Other Windows, and then click Undo Close Window. The Undo Close window appears, typically next to the Output window. Double-click any document in the list to reopen it. Collapse Projects This command collapses a project or projects in the Solution Explorer starting from the root selected node. Collapsing a project can increase the readability of the solution. This command can be executed from three different places: solution, solution folders and project nodes respectively. Copy Class This command copies a selected class entire content to the clipboard, renaming the class. This command is normally followed by a Paste Class command, which renames the class to avoid a compilation error. It can be executed from a single project item or a project item with dependent sub items. Paste Class This command pastes a class entire content from the clipboard, renaming the class to avoid a compilation error. This command is normally preceded by a Copy Class command. It can be executed from a project or folder node. Copy References This command copies a reference or set of references to the clipboard. It can be executed from the references node, a single reference node or set of reference nodes. Paste References This command pastes a reference or set of references from the clipboard. It can be executed from different places depending on the type of project. For CSharp projects it can be executed from the references node. For Visual Basic and Website projects it can be executed from the project node. Copy As Project Reference This command copies a project as a project reference to the clipboard. It can be executed from a project node. Edit Project File This command opens the MSBuild project file for a selected project inside Visual Studio. It combines the existing Unload Project and Edit Project commands. Open Containing Folder This command opens a Windows Explorer window pointing to the physical path of a selected item. It can be executed from a project item node Open Command Prompt This command opens a Visual Studio command prompt pointing to the physical path of a selected item. It can be executed from four different places: solution, project, folder and project item nodes respectively. Unload Projects This command unloads all projects in a solution. This can be useful in MSBuild scenarios when multiple projects are being edited. This command can be executed from the solution node. Reload Projects This command reloads all unloaded projects in a solution. It can be executed from the solution node. Remove and Sort Usings This command removes and sort using statements for all classes given a project. It is useful, for example, in removing or organizing the using statements generated by a wizard. This command can be executed from a solution node or a single project node. Extract Constant This command creates a constant definition statement for a selected text. Extracting a constant effectively names a literal value, which can improve readability. This command can be executed from the code editor by right-clicking selected text. Clear Recent File List This command clears the Visual Studio recent file list. The Clear Recent File List command brings up a Clear File dialog which allows any or all recent files to be selected. Clear Recent Project List This command clears the Visual Studio recent project list. The Clear Recent Project List command brings up a Clear File dialog which allows any or all recent projects to be selected. Transform Templates This command executes a custom tool with associated text templates items. It can be executed from a DSL project node or a DSL folder node. Close All This command closes all documents. It can be executed from a document tab. How to temporarily disable extensions Extensions provide a great way to make Visual Studio even more powerful, and can help improve your overall productivity.  One thing to keep in mind, though, is that extensions run within the Visual Studio process (DevEnv.exe) and so a bug within an extension can impact both the stability and performance of Visual Studio.  If you ever run into a situation where things seem slower than they should, or if you crash repeatedly, please temporarily disable any installed extensions and see if that fixes the problem.  You can do this for extensions that were installed via the online gallery by re-running the extension manager (using the Tools->Extension Manager menu option) and by selecting the “Installed Extensions” node on the top-left of the dialog – and then by clicking “Disable” on any of the extensions within your installed list: Hope this helps, Scott

  Hi everyone. I would like to run dhcpd3 from a chroot jail on Debian Lenny. At the moment, I can run it as root from my jail. Now I want to do this as non-root user (as "-u blah -t /path/to/jail" Bind option).   I recently learned of a program called Total Commander. It's a Windows Explorer replacement and has its own stuff to copy files. To check whether the files are identical, instead of calculation a CRC, it literally checks every single byte, one at a time, on both the original and the copy. My question is: Is this necessary? Can CRC or any other such technique go wrong? Should you, as a programmer, try and implement this perfect but slow system, or is it too extreme?

  I am not being to access any functions in my desktop and I don't have an OS besides Ubuntu and I am new to Ubuntu. I think I rebooted my computer thinking that Google Chrome crashed. I opened Google Chrome but it showed opening message but never opened so I restarted my computer. and when my system was loading (I was playing with keyboard dont know what I typed) and when by Ubuntu loaded, I was unable to access anything some of characteristics are listed below: I cannot hear any sound I cannot access wired ethernet connection on the right corner where I usually enable to access internet and I have no internet. There is no local apache server either. when ever I try to start apacer I get setuid must be root or something. When I type sudo then I get message setuid must be root. I cannot access orther external storage devices like pendrive and portable hard drive and cannot mount my other drives with FAT32 filesystem. When I try to start my apache webserver with out typing sudo then I get message cannnot open socket or something like it. I remember also doing command chown -R www-data / earlier and got error message I cannot shutdown my computer, it only logs off

• No boot or grub file after using ls command

  I had xubuntu installed, i believe version 12.04 and then tried to dual boot with backbox. It worked from the flash drive but upon installing it onto the hard drive, I could no longer boot backbox. I decided I would just clear my OS and put just backbox on the hard drive and only have a single boot. To do this, I erased my boot file completely which led to my current position. I am put into the grub rescue prompt. I can't do a system restore, I can't boot with anything I might try including puppy linux and a boot rescue, and I've looked up the commands and I've tried to fix this. I can do ls, I find the correct hd but then I'm stuck as I don't have a boot or grub folder. The command is typed as: ls (hd1,msdos1)/ and listed is ./ ../ lost+found/ etc/ media/ bin/ dev/ home/ lib/ mnt/ opt/ proc/ root/ run/ sbin/ selinux/ srv/ sys/ tmp/ usr/ var/ initrd.img vmlinuz cdrom/ apfolder initrd.img.old vmlinuz.old (not sure if it's initrd or init rd.img. as it wraps around the screen there.) I've seen commands regarding boot or grub if they are seen but as listed, they aren't there. Any ideas?

• Which Large File System Format to use for USB Flash drive compatible with Ubuntu/Mac/Windows?

  I've had this problem for a long time and can't find a solution. I switch between the 3 OSes all the time and use a 1TB USB Drive to do so. I can't seem to find a format that is compatible across all systems that handles large files (at least 8-9 GB). Does anyone have a solution for this? Recently I've tried exFat but that messes up the filesystem when trying to read on windows after adding files from Ubuntu (using the fuse driver). The OSes currently I'm using are Windows Vista/7, Mac OS X (10.6.5) and Ubuntu 10.10

• Terminal command to change permissions to my 'Sites' folder and apply change to enclosed items?

  Using Snow Leopard, I'm having issues with permissions in my Sites folder. While I can navigate to localhost/~username and read any files or folders there, the same permissions have not been applied to enclosed items, and I get a 403 error trying to access them in the browser. If I select one of these enclosed folders and get info using Finder, I see the user 'Everyone' is set to 'No Access' but I can't change that (this behavior seems buggy, actually). And if I select my 'Sites' folder, the tool to 'Apply to enclosed items' is grayed out... Is there a Terminal command I can use to grant 'Read Only' access to my Sites folder, and all it contains, for the user 'Everyone'?
