  • Getting Http Status code number (200, 301, 404, etc.) from HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse

    I am trying to get the HTTP status code number from the HttpWebResponse object returned from a HttpWebRequest. I was hoping to get the actual numbers (200, 301,302, 404, etc.) rather than the text description. ("Ok", "MovedPermanently", etc.) Is the number buried in a property somewhere in the response object? Any ideas other than creating a big switch function? Thanks.     12.04 LTS, on a dell mini 10. Install stable until about a week ago. Updated about 1x a week, sometimes more often. Several days ago, I booted up and the system was no longer working correctly. All these symptoms occurred simultaneously: Cannot run (exit on opening, every time): Update manager, software center, ubuntuOne, libreOffice.   • How can I create a graph of Nginx responses by HTTP status code?

    I'm looking to create a graph somewhat similar to this: But instead of graphing requests, graph responses, with a line for each HTTP response code (200 OK, 404 Not Found, 500 Server Error, etc). Creating the graph isn't the issue (use RRDtool, Server Density or something similar), but how can I best retrieve this information from Nginx? Unfortunately, this data isn't available on the page generated by NginxHttpStubStatusModule. If it was, this would be pretty easy.

  • XPS vs PDF. What's the status?

    XPS, the PDF alternative, seems to be almost dead in the water. That said, Windows 7 offers a built-in XPS printer and viewer. I believe Vista also offers a built-in printer. XPS seems lighter than PDF, perhaps it only appears so because of Adobe's bloated reader, but that's for another discussion. Is it worth it to begin encoding in XPS instead of PDF? Will Vista or above be able to read it without problems? What should I look out for?

  • Can I get Linux into 'Party/Kiosk-Mode' like status?

    I want to create a linux user account (in ubuntu or debian or whatever release is more suitable for this) which cannot do anything but just view a pre-determined web page. Kind of Kiosk style so that the user can observe what is going on from that web page but; cannot execute or write (and this blocking is preferably made also via GUI i.e. user cant minimize or close the browser, cant view any -start menus- )anything on machine.   • Why is my mail stuck in the queue with the status "retry" in Exchange 2003?

    I have been having a problem recently where some of our mail is not getting to clients. I looked into the Message queue on my SBS2k3 server and noticed that several recipients are showing up in the queue with a state of "Retry". When I highlight the recipient, the additional queue information says "An SMTP protocol error occured". How can I find out more specifically what error occured, and how could I then go about correcting it? Thanks, Mike

    UseCase Description A person form where in user will enter String which has to be converted to Number while persisting. From the User Interface we might be getting a String value which has to be persisted in the database as a number in that scenario we can use converters to map the java object which is of type String to its database value which is a Number. For example , there is a 'Person' table in database which is used to store the user details passed from the User Interface. It has a 'Status' column which is of the value  Number. But from the User Interface String values (Active/InActive) are passed . For persisting the user details we can use Object type converter and provide the mappings for status column corresponding to the String values. Object type converter can be used if you wanted to have a mapping for a field for example when departmentName on the entity was of String value and mapped to dept_name field on the database table which is of the value NUMBER.   Implementation steps Sample EJB API for setting the value of status on Person Entity as a String     public void createPerson(String status,String firstName,String lastName) {                Person person = new Person();                // status will be set as a String value received from the User Interface         person.setStatus(status);                person.setFirstname(firstName);        person.setLastname(lastName);                persistPerson(person);         } In the sample code shown above status is passed as a String, this has to be converted to Number.     When you install some mods you drag certain files into your game directory and replace the files. Other mods, though, come with an installer where you can set parameters first. Does the installer then go and automatically replace the certain files? At the end of the day, is that all the installation of any mod is? Is the installation of a mod simply the replacement of certain files inside the game's root directory? Do mods exist which don't fit the above statement? That install outside the game's root? Why do they do this? All the mods I can think of do just replace certain files inside the game's root. However, I know Team Fortress was spawned from a multiplayer halflife 1 mod. Do you reckon that mod installed files outside the root to enable multiplayer via a network for a single player game? How rare are these mods? Or do they not even exist? Do even extensive mods make all their changes inside the root?

  • In Asp.Net MVC 2 is there a better way to return 401 status codes without getting an auth redirect

    I have a portion of my site that has a lightweight xml/json REST API. Most of my site is behind forms auth but only some of my API actions require authentication. I have a custom AuthorizeAttribute for my API that I use to check for certain permissions and when it fails it results in a 401. All is good, except since I'm using forms auth, Asp.net conveniently converts that into a 302 redirect to my login page. I've seen some previous questions that seem a bit hackish to either return a 403 instead or to put some logic in the global.asax protected void Application_EndRequest() that will essentially convert 302 to 401 where it meets whatever criteria. Previous Question Previous Question 2 What I'm doing now is sort of like one of the questions, but instead of checking the Application_EndRequest() for a 302 I make my authorize attribute return 666 which indicates to me that I need to set this to a 401. Here is my code: protected void Application_EndRequest() { if (Context.Response.StatusCode == MyAuthAttribute.AUTHORIZATION_FAILED_STATUS) { //check for 666 - status code of hidden 401 Context.Response.StatusCode = 401; } } Even though this works, my question is there something in Asp.net MVC 2 that would prevent me from having to do this?     Hi, I don't know exactly how to explain this problem, but I'll try. I have a ListView with several items. Each item has inside a TextView and two ImageView. I want the ImageView change when I click on them, and I want to open a context menu when I press for a long time into the ListView item. For the ImageView, everything works properly. For the whole item, I can show the context menu after a long press, but my problem is that the ImageView changes as well when I am pressing the TextView, for example.   • Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: .... The status code returned from the server w

    Hi All, I have seen a few posts regarding this issue but not one specific to my problem and I have no ideas as to what I need to do to debug this. I have some combo boxes on an aspx pages, when I select a value from the first one, it fills the second with value and so on with the third and fourth. This works with no problems until I wrap an asp.net UpdatePanel around the combo boxes and try to "ajaxify" the whole process so the page isn't dancing around. The exact error I get is: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 404 Some things to note: I am using URL rewriting - This is what I think is causing the problem The error will occur whenever I choose a selection for a SECOND time. This means that I could select a value from the first combo box and get the same error (so it is happening on the second postback - No matter which combo box it's from). I have tried setting the EnablePartialRendering="false" on teh scriptmanager but as I said, it works when not using ajax, so I don't know how to debug the issue. My server is Windows 2008 running IIS& with ASP.NET 2.0. I would really appreciate your help Thanks in advance.
