• MySQL Error for Mac OSx

  I'm trying to run the mysql command on my mac osx but keep getting the error: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) I did try researching this extensively but could'nt find a suitable solution. Most of the solutions refer to /etc/my.cnf but I don't seem to have this configuration file in the first place. I'm pretty much stuck and have been for quite a while. Any help is greatly appreciated.

• Cron Job that Boots Screen at Start

  I am trying to set up a number of processes that start during boot (servers for games) with the below command as the cron item: @reboot /usr/bin/screen -fa -d -m -S NAME COMMAND However if the server crashes for what ever reason screen closes and the server doesn't get a chance to run it's auto restart (as far as I understand; screen sees no processes in the socket and so closes). Is there a way that I can get around this so screen will sit there even if nothing is running in it?

• problem with phpMyAdmin advanced features

  Hi all, I am having trouble putting the final touches on my MySQL/Apache/phpMyAdmin install on a Windows XP system. I am trying to get rid of all the error message in phpMyAdmin and I have gotten rid of all of them except the ones related to "advanced features." The exact error message I have is : The additional features for working with linked tables have been deactivated. To find out why click here. I have read up on the cause of the errors but I must be missing something because I still cannot get the warning to go away. Here is what I have done: Created a linked-tables infrastructure (default name "phpmyadmin") per the phpMyAdmin instructions and enabled "pmadb" in my "config.inc.php" file. Specified (enabled) the table names in my "config.inc.php" file (there are 9 tables total). Created a "controluser" and granted only Select privilages per phpMyAdmin instructions Adjusted "controluser" pma and "controlpass" pmapass in "config.inc.php" file From what I can see these are all the instruction phpMyAdmin gives on this subject, and I am unable to locate any tutorials on the specifics of "advanced features" in phpMyAdmin. Any help would be appreciated, and be gentle, this is my first go with MySQL/phpMyAdmin

• Apache redirection problem!!!!

  Hi guys, I am setting up a pre-built website built in php. The site was actually hosted on the linux server. Now I am trying to set it up on a Window machine with WAMP server. In this website almost every page request passes through a particular file called redirect(which is basically a php file without extension). Now the problem is that when I inspected the configuration(httpd.conf, apache.conf,.htaccess, vhost.conf etc) of the apache server on the linux machine, I nowhere found the redirect rules for doing so. Neither mod_rewrite nor mod_alias rules for this redirection were found there. But is still redirects the request properly. I also noticed that Zend Framework library is there in the exact same directory where the redirect file is. This library is included in the include_path in php.ini. However, the web site is still not developed using Zend MVC and I have seen NO proof of ZEND being used there. So I am really confused how this redirection is working there? I am unable to set up this on window machine without rewrite rules of mod_rewrite or mod_alias. Do you guys know any alternative of both the said modules for redirection? I know the site is really weird, but i have to set it up. :) Thanks in advance for your help.

  I'm used to web development using LAMP, PHP5, MySQL plus NetBeans with Xdebug. Now I want to improve my development, by learning how to use (A) proper testing and (B) a framework. So I have set up CodeIgniter, SimpleTest and the easy Xdebug add-in for Firefox. This is great fun because maroonbytes provided me with clear instructions and a configured setup ready for download. I am standing on the shoulders of giants, and very grateful. I've used SimpleTest a bit in the past. • Email client wont connect to SMTP Authentication server

  Im having trouble installing SMTH Auth for my ubuntu email server. I have followed ubuntu own guide for SMTH AUT (https://help.ubuntu.com/14.04/serverguide/postfix.html). But my email client thunderbird is giving this error " lost connection to SMTP-client 127.0.0.1." I cant add new users to thundbird either because of this connection problem. Do i have to alter any setting on my Thunderbird perhaps since ? I did try to make thunderbird use SSL for imap as well but that neither works. I restarted postfix and dovecot to find errors but both run just fine. Prior to SMTP auth changes thunderbird could connect just fine to my server and send mails. This is my main.cf file in postfix. • FreeBSD with 64 CPUs

  I have a quad socket octo-core system running FreeBSD. Currently, I need to turn off HyperThreading to get it to boot, as FreeBSD only supports 32 CPUs. There were some patches made awhile ago against a trunk version of 8.1, but even after modifying them slightly to work and compile with 8.1-RELEASE, the machine wouldn't boot. Has there been any progress here? I can't find much good information about it, Google thinks I'm talking about 64-bit architecture and not literally 64 CPUs.

I was hoping to convert the date in the Model to have things in order. Here's the date conversion as it happens in the View.   Just got a CanonMF5880dn and cannot print to it from Suse 11.1 MacBook prints w/o issue ping 192.168.1.103 no problem cups sees it as Canon MF5880/MF5840 PCL at URI socket://192.168.1.103:9100 cups test print appears to submit and complete job but no action from printer Yast also seems to install printer correctly CQue2 also seems to install printer correctly all attempts to print yield same results: Suse indicates job processed correctly and completely but no printing happens. firewall is off http://192.168.1.103 in FF gives me the printer config menus correctly What have I failed to do?

• Click behaviour - Difference in IE and FF ?!

  Hey folks, i just came to the conclusion that a project i am currently working on might have a "logical" error in functionality. Currently I'am using server technology with PHP/MySQL and JQuery. Within the page there's a normal link reference with tag <a href="contentpage?page=xxx">next step</a> The pain point now seems to be the given jquery click event on the same element. The intension was to save the (current) content of the page (- form elements) via another php script using the php session command. For any reason, IE can handle the click event of Jquery right before executing the standard html command, that reloads the current page again with the new page parameter. By using FF the behaviour is different. I assume, that FF first execute the html command and afterwards execute the javascript code which handles the click event. Therefore the resultset here is wrong respectivly empty. My question now is whether you made the same experience and how you handled / wordarrounded this problem. I'd be thankful fur any of your tips or further feedback. Maybe you also have a solution on how to rethink about the current architecture. Regards, Oliver

• Cakephp cache only caching one file per action

  Hi, I have a songs controller. Within the songs controller i have a 'view' action which get's passed an id, eg /songs/view/1 /songs/view/5 /songs/view/500 When a user visits /songs/view/1, the file is cached correctly and saved as 'songs_view_1.php' Now for the problem, when a user hit's a different song, eg /songs/view/2, the 'songs_view_1.php' is deleted and '/songs/view/2.php' is in it's place. The cahced files will stay there for a day if I don't visit a different url, and visiting a different action will not affect any other action's cached file. I've tried replacing my 'cake' folder (from 1.2 to 1.2.6), but that didn't do anything. I get no error messages at all and nothing in the logs. Here's my code, I've tried umpteen variations all ending up with the same problem. var $helpers = array('Cache'); var $cacheAction = array( 'view/' => '+1 day' ); Any ideas? EDIT: After some more testing, this code var $cacheAction = array( 'view/1' => "1 day", 'view/2' => "1 day" ); will cache 'view/1' or 'view/2', but delete the previous page as before. If I visit '/view/3' it will delete the cached page from before... sigh EDIT: Having the same issue on another server with same code...

• Random problem connecting to MySQL

  Environment: RHEL 5 servers, MySQL 5.1.43, PHP 5.1.6 (using MySQLi). Currently only available within our internal VPN network. Servers ServerA: Webserver ServerB/C/D: Database server (1 master 2 slaves) The error (on ServerA) [Tue May 25 11:12:17 2010] [error] [client CLIENTIP] PHP Warning: mysqli::real_connect() [function.mysqli-real-connect]: (HY000/2003): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'ServerB' (4) in /home/**/Database.php on line 67, referer: [website] Problem description It appears that at completely random times, our website is unable to connect to one of the MySQL servers - usually the Master. Except for the forementioned error message, there is nothing to be found in any of the logs as far as I can see, and most of the times the connection is succesful and everything works as it should. It's just at completely random times, this error pops up. There's no firewall blocking any internal traffic, timeout value is 3 but it doesn't take 3 seconds before it fails to connect. With the default mysql client I can connect from ServerA to ServerB,C and D and haven't encountered a problem yet. Does anyone have a clue what I might be overlooking / could be the problem? Because I've run out of ideas myself.

My main site template controller currently looks something like this: <?php defined('SYSPATH') or die('No direct script access.'); abstract class Controller_SiteTemplate extends Controller_Template { public function before() { parent::before(); // Initialize default template variables $this->template->styles = Kohana::config('site.styles'); $this->template->scripts = Kohana::config('site.scripts'); $this->template->title = ''; $this->template->content = ''; } } And then in my template view I do: <?php # Styles foreach($styles as $file => $media) echo HTML::style($file, array('media' => $media)).PHP_EOL ?> <?php # Scripts foreach($scripts as $file) echo HTML::script($file).PHP_EOL ?> This works alright. The problem is that it requires the style- and script files to be added in the controller, which shouldn't really have to care about those. It also makes it a hassle if the views are done by someone else than me since they would have to fool around with the controller just to add a new stylesheet or a new script file. How can this be done in a better way? Just to clearify, what I am wondering is how to deal with page specific stylesheets and scripts. The default and site-wide ones I have no problem with fetching from a config file or just put directly in the template view. My issue is how to add custom ones for specific pages in a good way.
