  • Android Convert Central Time to Local Time

    - by chedstone
I have a MySql database that stores a timestamp for each record I insert. I pull that timestamp into my Android application as a string. My database is located on a server that has a TimeZone of CST. I want to convert that CST timestamp to the Android device's local time. Can someone help with this?

  • Does iBatis enforce a primary key on my table?

    - by Yousui
Hi guys, I'm working on a legacy project. The database is poorly designed. I want to change the DB layer now. The first think go through my mind is hibernate, but I hibernate need a primary key on my table. In fact some of my table does not have primary key. So I did a google search and I find iBatis, it's sounds very good with it. But I don't know whether iBatis enforce a primary key on my table? Thanks.

  • How can I filter out the "My Computer"-option in a SWT DirectoryDialog?

    - by Superfisi
Hello *, in our Eclipse RCP application running on Windows XP we use a DirectoryDialog, in which the user should... ahmm... choose a directory! :D The problem is: If the user selects the "My Computer"-option (in German Windows "Arbeitsplatz") the Dialog returns null. The DirectoryDialog provides a method setFilterPath(String path) in which I put the File.pathSeparatorChar (to remain OS-independant). My suggestion was that if there has to be a file separator in the directory the "My Computer"-option would be ignored cause it is null - for example the "OK"-button would be greyed out or sth. like that... but it is also valid to klick "OK". Any suggestions from your side? :D Thanks in advance! Alex

  • How to code the set method of a Map with another Map as value?

    - by Nazgulled
I normally do this to set a new Map to a private variable: public static void setListaClausulas(Map<String, Clausula> nvLista) { listaClausulas = new TreeMap<String, Clausula>(nvLista); } I suppose this is ok to set a new copy of the nvLista and all it's members and not a reference, is it? But now I have a Map inside another Map and I'm doing this: public static void setListaClausulas(Map<String, Map<String, Clausula>> nvLista) { listaClausulas = new TreeMap<String, Map<String, Clausula>>(nvLista); } Is this the correct way to do it or do you recommend something else? What I want is to set a new copy of nvLista (and all it's elements) and not copy just the reference.

  • How to make NOT IN statement via Restrictions

    - by slavig
I used this trick: List statuses = new ArrayList(); Criteria criteria = session.createCriteria(MessageQueue.class); criteria.add(Restrictions.not(Restrictions.in("message_status", statuses))); and this code creates: ...from MESSAGE_QUEUE mq where not (mq.message_status in (?, ?, ?, ?))... but I need: ...from MESSAGE_QUEUE mq where mq.message_status NOT IN (?, ?, ?, ?) Du you think they are equal statements?

  • Switching application-wide theme programmatically?

    - by Cheezmeister
EDIT: Related question here: Multi theme support in android app I'm attempting to get a user-chosen theme and feel like I'm frustratingly close. Defining the theme in AndroidManifest.xml works as it should, but (as best I can tell) can't change based on app preferences: <application android:theme="@style/theme_sunshine" android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> Alternatively, setting it dynamically in each activity also works: someChosenTheme = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this).getString("themePreference", "theme_twilight"); setTheme(someOtherChosenTheme); But that seems messy, and I'd rather set the theme for the entire app in one place. My first thought was to grab the application context as soon as my main activity launches and do it there: getApplicationContext().setTheme(R.style.theme_dummy); As best I can tell[0], this ought to do the trick, but in fact it's not doing anything--the entire app has the default Android style. Is the above valid, and if so, might I be doing something else dumb? I'm working in API level 3 if that matters. Prods in the right direction greatly appreciated! • Is it possible to use JSF+Facelets with HTML 4/5?

    - by Bytecode Ninja
Facelets relies on XML namespaces to work with XHTML. How are HTML 4, and as far as I know, HTML 5 do not support namespaces. Also HTML 5 has some new elements that are not available in XHTML. Even HTML 4 and XHTML have some differences regarding elements and attributes they support. The question is: Is it possible to render HTML 4/5 documents using Facelets? If so, how?

  • What would a compress method do in a hash table?

    - by Bradley Oesch
For an assignment I have to write the code for a generic Hash Table. In an example Put method, there are two lines: int hash = key.hashCode(); // get the hashcode of the key int index = compress(hash); // compress it to an index I was of the understanding that the hashCode method used the key to return an index, and you would place the key/value pair in the array at that index. But here we "compress" the hash code to get the index. What does this method do? How does it "compress" the hash code? Is it necessary and/or preferred?

  • Sending an SMS in Android

    - by D4N14L
Hey, I have been making an Android app which needs to send a text message. Here is the current code I have: public class getMessage extends Service { @Override public IBinder onBind(Intent intent) { return null; } @Override public void onStart(Intent intent, int startId) { super.onStart(intent, startId); client Phone = new client(); String[] msg = Phone.getMsg(user[0],user[1]); PendingIntent pi = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, new Intent(this, getMessage.class), 0); SmsManager man = SmsManager.getDefault(); Log.e("GOT MESSAGE", msg[0]+ " : " +msg[1]); man.sendTextMessage(msg[0], null, msg[1], pi, null); Log.e("Message", "Sent the message?"); } Now, for some reason, the text message will not send using this code, and I'm not sure why. I was hoping that someone here could help me out in finding why this message won't send. No error is raised, nothing appears in the log (except for the log messages that I make myself in the code). Also, the manifest does have the correct tags. Suggestions?

  • Best way to create a Unique ID field for an enum

    - by jax
What is the best way to get a Unique ID from an ENUM that will stay consistent between repeated execution of the program? Currently I am doing this manually by passing an ID to the enum constructor. I don't really want to do this is I can help it. Another option would be to use a static field that gets incremented for each enum value. The problem is that if later I decide to move the enum fields around or delete some this will cause problems with my program as the ID will be saved into user preferences. The ID can be any basic type or a String.

  • how to tune BufferedInputStream read()?

    - by technomax
I am reading a BLOB column from a Oracle database, then writing it to a file as follows: public static int execute(String filename, BLOB blob) { int success = 1; try { File blobFile = new File(filename); FileOutputStream outStream = new FileOutputStream(blobFile); BufferedInputStream inStream = new BufferedInputStream(blob.getBinaryStream()); int length = -1; int size = blob.getBufferSize(); byte[] buffer = new byte[size]; while ((length = inStream.read(buffer)) != -1) { outStream.write(buffer, 0, length); outStream.flush(); } inStream.close(); outStream.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); System.out.println("ERROR(img_exportBlob) Unable to export:"+filename); success = 0; } } The file size is around 3MB and it takes 40-50s to read the buffer. Its actually a 3D image data. So, is there any way by which I can reduce this time?

  • Posting topic on Facebook Groups

    - by gauz
I would like to know whether it is possible to post topics on Facebook Groups by using either the old Rest API or Graph API? I somehow was unable to find any function within the API which would help me to do so. Any work around or alternate solution to the above problem is welcome. Thanks.

  • Sending message to multiple contacts of mobile by providing search facility in J2ME

    - by learn
I wan to send the message to multiple contacts in the contactlist for(int j=0;j<vector.size();j++){ listofContacts=new ListofContacts(); listofContacts=(ListofContacts)vector.elementAt(j); list.setFitPolicy(1); list.append(listofContacts.contactname + " "+ listofContacts.contactno, null); System.out.println(listofContacts.contactname + " "+ listofContacts.contactno); } here i have taken all the contacts of contact list in vector and the listofcontacts is the class containing the name and number. To show the list of contacts for selection i am using list control with multiple choice. The code is working fine and message is sent to all the contacts which are selected by the user but as we know there may be 1000 of contacts in phonebook and in these case to select a particular user we have to scroll down the list. Now how to keep the search facility so that we can directly go to the required contact and if it is not possible with the list control which control is to be used so that multiple contacts can be selected and also search facility is available.

  • How to calculate the y-pixels of someones weight on a graph? (math+programming question)

    - by RexOnRoids
    I'm not that smart like some of you geniuses. I need some help from a math whiz. My app draws a graph of the users weight over time. I need a surefire way to always get the right pixel position to draw the weight point at for a given weight. For example, say I want to plot the weight 80.0(kg) on the graph when the range of weights is 80.0 to 40.0kg. I want to be able to plug in the weight (given I know the highest and lowest weights in the range also) and get the pixel result 400(y) (for the top of the graph). The graph is 300 pixels high (starts at 100 and ends at 400). The highest weight 80kg would be plot at 400 while the lowest weight 40kg would be plot at 100. And the intermediate weights should be plotted appropriately. I tried this but it does not work: -(float)weightToPixel:(float)theWeight { float graphMaxY = 400; //The TOP of the graph float graphMinY = 100; //The BOTTOM of the graph float yOffset = 100; //Graph itself is offset 100 pixels in the Y direction float coordDiff = graphMaxY-graphMinY; //The size in pixels of the graph float weightDiff = self.highestWeight-self.lowestWeight; //The weight gap float pixelIncrement = coordDiff/weightDiff; float weightY = (theWeight*pixelIncrement)-(coordDiff-yOffset); //The return value return weightYpixel; }
