• What DirectShow Interface to use for capturing to Stream instead of creating actual file?

  I've got a DirectShow project where I want to capture and stream to a webserver. I have seen how to capture and create a file, but I'm looking for ideas on how to capture into something like a MemoryStream to transport through a NetworkStream. I'm also using the library DirectShowLib for the ability to write in C# if that makes any difference. Of if there is a sample that I overlooked in the SDK I would greatly appreciate the direction. • Creating serializeable unique compile-time identifiers for arbitrary UDT's.

  I would like a generic way to create unique compile-time identifiers for any C++ user defined types. for example: unique_id<my_type>::value == 0 // true unique_id<other_type>::value == 1 // true I've managed to implement something like this using preprocessor meta programming, the problem is, serialization is not consistent. For instance if the class template unique_id is instantiated with other_type first, then any serialization in previous revisions of my program will be invalidated. I've searched for solutions to this problem, and found several ways to implement this with non-consistent serialization if the unique values are compile-time constants. If RTTI or similar methods, like boost::sp_typeinfo are used, then the unique values are obviously not compile-time constants and extra overhead is present. An ad-hoc solution to this problem would be, instantiating all of the unique_id's in a separate header in the correct order, but this causes additional maintenance and boilerplate code, which is not different than using an enum unique_id{my_type, other_type};. A good solution to this problem would be using user-defined literals, unfortunately, as far as I know, no compiler supports them at this moment. The syntax would be 'my_type'_id; 'other_type'_id; with udl's. I'm hoping somebody knows a trick that allows implementing serialize-able unique identifiers in C++ with the current standard (C++03/C++0x), I would be happy if it works with the latest stable MSVC and GNU-G++ compilers, although I expect if there is a solution, it's not portable.

• How do you open a second WPF window without creating a new one.

  In the program I am trying to build, I have a menu button that opens a second window. The user puts information into the second window, presses the "Done" button, and the information is transfered into the main window. The problem I am having is opening the second window. I have both windows build in xaml files in Visual Studio but I can't find a way to show the second window. Using "Window window = new Window" does not fit my needs because 1) I already have the second window built and 2) I have tried this and I cannot figure out how to add children to the window; there is no window.children nor any grid to put the children into. • Creating a new CCK field from an imagecache preset?

  I have an image gallery for which I have configured an Imagecache preset. It's my first time using Imagecache so I am not sure if I am using it right. Right now, I see that I can only configure the CCK imagefield to show me the imagecache generated image in either the preview or the full node version of the field. I would prefer to have a new CCK field with the imagecache generated picture. Is this possible? Is there a module for this? If it isnt, how can I customize my gallery view to show me the preview version of the image, instead of the full node version, which it is currently showing?

I'm sure this is not a well-liked idea as it breaks convention (does it?), but it's easier and more readable, and probably more optimized, than the two options above. What are your thoughts?

  My goal is to create a log4net library that can be shared across multiple projects. In my solution which is in .net 4.0, I created a class library called Logger and referenced it from web project. Now I created a logger.config in the class library and put all the configuration in the logger.config file. I then used [assembly: log4net.Config.XmlConfigurator(Watch = true, ConfigFile = "Logger.config")] When I run the web app nothing is getting logged. So I added this line of code in web.config <add key="log4net.Internal.Debug" value="true"/> which gave me debugging info and error information Failed to find configuration section 'log4net' in the application's .config file. Check your .config file for the and elements. The configuration section should look like: I moved the configuration from logger.config to web.config and everything seems to work fine. I don't want the log4net configuration in web.config but have it logger.config as a cleaner approach. The goal is to make other projects use this library and not have to worry about configuration in every project. Now the question is, How do I do this? What am I doing wrong? Any suggestion with code example will be beneficial to everyone. FYI, I am using structure map IOC to reslove the logger before logging to it.

  I am about to create a collection of classes in php which are interrelated. Now I would like to include files using their absolute path, ie If I were in '/com/mysite/licences/Generator.class.php' I would like to include files like this: include '/com/mysite/lib/Utils.class.php' I don't want to include like this, I think it is confusing and ugly include '../licenses/Utils.class.php' This works ok, unless 'com' is not in the root of public_html. I assume I will need some sort of prefix to append to each file LIBRARY_ROOT that hold the location of 'com' in the current filesystem. So it might look like this include LIBRARY_ROOT.'com/mysite/lib/Utils.class.php' What is the best way to do this?

  I'm using python 3.1.1. I know that I can create byte objects using the byte literal in the form of b'...'. In these byte objects, each byte can be represented as a character(in ascii code if I'm not wrong) or as a hexadecimal/octal number. Hexadecimal and octal numbers can be entered using an escape of \x for hexadecimal numbers and just a \ for octal numbers. However, there's no escape sequences for decimal or binary numbers. Is there any way to enter them into byte objects?

  I'm dealing with a database structure that can be defined as "illogical". It has about 100 different schema's with all different table structures per schema. Only one common factor is a "Version" table in each schema containing about 4 fields. (Thus, there are about 100 Version tables in the database.) There's also another table (view, actually) containing a list of all the schema's in the database that have a version table. I need a stored procedure that walks through all the schema's and selects all data from the Version table, adding the schema name as a fifth field to the result. Basically, this stored procedure is to return a list of all version records per schema. My idea: first walk through the schema list to create one new SQL statements that will JOIN all the schema.version tables into one SQL statement. Then I return the result of that query. How to do this? Or does anyone have a better suggestion? (No, redesigning the structure is NOT an option.)

The winner receives something rather valuable and I'm paranoid people are going to try to manipulate it. Debian / Apache / PHP 5.2 / jquery users are not required to login / authenticate. users can vote multiple stories up but only once for each story Is it as simple as tagging each story with an IP address and not counting other submissions from that IP?   Hi friends, I'm a drupal newbie who needs some advice... I have a news list block at homepage, created with View Module. It is listing all added news' title and link. Everything is cool so far. Now I need to add an ON/OFF option at admin side for homepage news block. When the setting is ON, it will work as it is. When it is OFF, only the titles will be listed with no linking to news detail page. So, now where should I add this ON/OFF option? I have only add/edit/delete pages for each news, there is no common news page to add such option. Should I create an admin page with such ON/OFF option in?
