  • Moving data files failing

    - by Miles Hayler
Trying to migrate data from C: to D: via the SBS console is failing. The wizard starts running but drops out in the first few seconds. I'll post the full logs, but the important lines appear to be as follows: An exception of type 'Type: System.IO.FileNotFoundException, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' has occurred. • Going Paperless

    - by Jesse
One year ago I came to work for a company where the entire development team is 100% “remote”; we’re spread over 3 time zones and each of us works from home. This seems to be an increasingly popular way for people to work and there are many articles and blog posts out there enumerating the advantages and disadvantages of working this way. I had read a lot about telecommuting before accepting this job and felt as if I had a pretty decent idea of what I was getting into, but I’ve encountered a few things over the past year that I did not expect. Among the most surprising by-products of working from home for me has been a dramatic reduction in the amount of paper that I use on a weekly basis. Hoarding In The Workplace Prior to my current telecommute job I worked in what most would consider pretty traditional office environments. I sat in cubicles furnished with an enormous plastic(ish) modular desks, had a mediocre (at best) PC workstation, and had ready access to a seemingly endless supply of legal pads, pens, staplers and paper clips. The ready access to paper, countless conference room meetings, and abundance of available surface area on my desk and in drawers created a perfect storm for wasting paper. I brought a pad of paper with me to every meeting I ever attended, scrawled some brief notes, and then tore that sheet off to keep next to my keyboard to follow up on any needed action items. Once my immediate need for the notes was fulfilled, that sheet would get shuffled off into a corner of my desk or filed away in a drawer “just in case”. I would guess that for all of the notes that I ever filed away, I might have actually had to dig up and refer to 2% of them (and that’s probably being very generous). That said, on those rare occasions that I did have to dig something up from old notes, it was usually pretty important and I ended up being very glad that I saved them. It was only when I would leave a job or move desks that I would finally gather all those notes together and take them to shredding bin to be disposed of. When I left my last job the amount of paper I had accumulated over my three years there was absurd, and I knew coworkers who had substance-abuse caliber paper wasting addictions that made my bad habit look like nail-biting in comparison. A Product Of My Environment I always hated using all of this paper, but simply couldn’t bring myself to stop. It would look bad if I showed up to an important conference room meeting without a pad of paper. What if someone said something profound! Plus, everyone else always brought paper with them. If you saw someone walking down the hallway with a pad of paper in hand you knew they must be on their way to a conference room meeting. Some people even had fancy looking portfolio notebook sheaths that gave their legal pads all the prestige of a briefcase. No one ever worried about running out of fresh paper because there was an endless supply, and there certainly was no shortage of places to store and file used paper. In short, the traditional office was setup for using tons and tons of paper; it’s baked into the culture there. For that reason, it didn’t take long for me to kick the paper habit once I started working from home. In my home office, desk and drawer space are at a premium. I don’t have the budget (or the tolerance) for huge modular office furniture in my spare bedroom. I also no longer have access to a bottomless pit of office supplies stock piled in cabinets and closets. If I want to use some paper, I have to go out and buy it. Finally (and most importantly), all of the meetings that I have to attend these days are “virtual”. We use instant messaging, VOIP, video conferencing, and e-mail to communicate with each other. All I need to take notes during a meeting is my computer, which I happen to be sitting right in front of all day. I don’t have any hard numbers for this, but my gut feeling is that I actually take a lot more notes now than I ever did when I worked in an office. The big difference is I don’t have to use any paper to do so. This makes it far easier to keep important information safe and organized. The Right Tool For The Job When I first started working from home I tried to find a single application that would fill the gap left by the pen and paper that I always had at my desk when I worked in an office. Well, there are no silver bullets and I’ve evolved my approach over time to try and find the best tool for the job at hand. Here’s a quick summary of how I take notes and keep everything organized. Notepad++ – This is the first application I turn to when I feel like there’s some bit of information that I need to write down and save. I use Launchy, so opening Notepad++ and creating a new file only takes a few keystrokes. If I find that the information I’m trying to get down requires a more sophisticated application I escalate as needed. The Desktop – By default, I save every file or other bit of information to the desktop. Anyone who has ever had to fix their parents computer before knows that this is a dangerous game (any file my mother has ever worked on is saved directly to the desktop and rarely moves anywhere else). I agree that storing things on the desktop isn’t a great long term approach to keeping organized, which is why I treat my desktop a bit like my e-mail inbox. I strive to keep both empty (or as close to empty as I possibly can). If something is on my desktop, it means that it’s something relevant to a task or project that I’m currently working on. About once a week I take things that I’m not longer working on and put them into my ‘Notes’ folder. The ‘Notes’ Folder – As I work on a task, I tend to accumulate multiple files associated with that task. For example, I might have a bit of SQL that I’m working on to gather data for a new report, a quick C# method that I came up with but am not yet ready to commit to source control, a bulleted list of to-do items in a .txt file, etc. If the desktop starts to get too cluttered, I create a new sub-folder in my ‘Notes’ folder. Each sub-folder’s name is the current date followed by a brief description of the task or project. Then all files related to that task or project go into that sub folder. By using the date as the first part of the folder name, these folders are automatically sorted in reverse chronological order. This means that things I worked on recently will generally be near the top of the list. Using the built-in Windows search functionality I now have a pretty quick and easy way to try and find something that I worked on a week ago or six months ago. Dropbox – Dropbox is a free service that lets you store up to 2GB of files “in the cloud” and have those files synced to all of the different computers that you use. My ‘Notes’ folder lives in Dropbox, meaning that it’s contents are constantly backed up and are always available to me regardless of which computer I’m using. They also have a pretty decent iPhone application that lets you browse and view all of the files that you have stored there. The free 2GB edition is probably enough for just storing notes, but I also pay $99/year for the 50GB storage upgrade and keep all of my music, e-books, pictures, and documents in Dropbox. It’s a fantastic service and I highly recommend it. Evernote – I use Evernote mostly to organize information that I access on a fairly regular basis. For example, my Evernote account has a running grocery shopping list, recipes that my wife and I use a lot, and contact information for people I contact infrequently enough that I don’t want to keep them in my phone. I know some people that keep nearly everything in Evernote, but there’s something about it that I find a bit clunky, so I tend to use it sparingly. Google Tasks – One of my biggest paper wasting habits was keeping a running task-list next to my computer at work. Every morning I would sit down, look at my task list, cross off what was done and add new tasks that I thought of during my morning commute. This usually resulted in having to re-copy the task list onto a fresh sheet of paper when I was done. I still keep a running task list at my desk, but I’ve started using Google Tasks instead. This is a dead-simple web-based application for quickly adding, deleting, and organizing tasks in a simple checklist style. You can quickly move tasks up and down on the list (which I use for prioritizing), and even create sub-tasks for breaking down larger tasks into smaller pieces. Balsamiq Mockups – This is a simple and lightweight tool for creating drawings of user interfaces. It’s great for sketching out a new feature, brainstorm the layout of a interface, or even draw up a quick sequence diagram. I’m terrible at drawing, so Balsamiq Mockups not only lets me create sketches that other people can actually understand, but it’s also handy because you can upload a sketch to a common location for other team members to access. I can honestly say that using these tools (and having limited resources at home) have lead me to cut my paper usage down to virtually none. If I ever were to return to a traditional office workplace (hopefully never!) I’d try to employ as many of these applications and techniques as I could to keep paper usage low. I feel far less cluttered and far better organized now.

  • Row Number Transformation

The Row Number Transformation calculates a row number for each row, and adds this as a new output column to the data flow. The column number is a sequential number, based on a seed value. Each row receives the next number in the sequence, based on the defined increment value. The final row number can be stored in a variable for later analysis, and can be used as part of a process to validate the integrity of the data movement. The Row Number transform has a variety of uses, such as generating surrogate keys, or as the basis for a data partitioning scheme when combined with the Conditional Split transformation. Properties Property Data Type Description Seed Int32 The first row number or seed value. Increment Int32 The value added to the previous row number to make the next row number. OutputVariable String The name of the variable into which the final row number is written post execution. (Optional). The three properties have been configured to support expressions, or they can set directly in the normal manner. Expressions on components are only visible on the hosting Data Flow task, not at the individual component level. Sometimes the data type of the property is incorrectly set when the properties are created, see the Troubleshooting section below for details on how to fix this. Installation The component is provided as an MSI file which you can download and run to install it. This simply places the files on disk in the correct locations and also installs the assemblies in the Global Assembly Cache as per Microsoft’s recommendations. You may need to restart the SQL Server Integration Services service, as this caches information about what components are installed, as well as restarting any open instances of Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) / Visual Studio that you may be using to build your SSIS packages. For 2005/2008 Only - Finally you will have to add the transformation to the Visual Studio toolbox manually. Right-click the toolbox, and select Choose Items.... Select the SSIS Data Flow Items tab, and then check the Row Number transformation in the Choose Toolbox Items window. This process has been described in detail in the related FAQ entry for How do I install a task or transform component? We recommend you follow best practice and apply the current Microsoft SQL Server Service pack to your SQL Server servers and workstations, and this component requires a minimum of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1. Downloads The Row Number Transformation  is available for SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008 (includes R2) and SQL Server 2012. Please choose the version to match your SQL Server version, or you can install multiple versions and use them side by side if you have more than one version of SQL Server installed. Row Number Transformation for SQL Server 2005 Row Number Transformation for SQL Server 2008 Row Number Transformation for SQL Server 2012 Version History SQL Server 2012 Version 3.0.0.6 - SQL Server 2012 release. Includes upgrade support for both 2005 and 2008 packages to 2012. (5 Jun 2012) SQL Server 2008 Version 2.0.0.5 - SQL Server 2008 release. (18 Jun 2006) Version 1.2.0.7 - SQL Server 2005 RTM Refresh. SP1 Compatibility Testing. Added the ability to reuse an existing column to hold the generated row number, as an alternative to the default of adding a new column to the output. (18 Jun 2006) Version 1.0.0.0 - Public Release for SQL Server 2005 IDW 15 June CTP (29 Aug 2005) Screenshot Code Sample The following code sample demonstrates using the Data Generator Source and Row Number Transformation programmatically in a very simple package. Package package = new Package(); package.Name = "Data Generator & Row Number"; // Add the Data Flow Task Executable taskExecutable = package.Executables.Add("STOCK:PipelineTask"); // Get the task host wrapper, and the Data Flow task TaskHost taskHost = taskExecutable as TaskHost; MainPipe dataFlowTask = (MainPipe)taskHost.InnerObject; // Add Data Generator Source IDTSComponentMetaData100 componentSource = dataFlowTask.ComponentMetaDataCollection.New(); componentSource.Name = "Data Generator"; componentSource.ComponentClassID = "Konesans.Dts.Pipeline.DataGenerator.DataGenerator, Konesans.Dts.Pipeline.DataGenerator, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b2ab4a111192992b"; CManagedComponentWrapper instanceSource = componentSource.Instantiate(); instanceSource.ProvideComponentProperties(); instanceSource.SetComponentProperty("RowCount", 10000); // Add Row Number Tx IDTSComponentMetaData100 componentRowNumber = dataFlowTask.ComponentMetaDataCollection.New(); componentRowNumber.Name = "FlatFileDestination"; componentRowNumber.ComponentClassID = "Konesans.Dts.Pipeline.RowNumberTransform.RowNumberTransform, Konesans.Dts.Pipeline.RowNumberTransform, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b2ab4a111192992b"; CManagedComponentWrapper instanceRowNumber = componentRowNumber.Instantiate(); instanceRowNumber.ProvideComponentProperties(); instanceRowNumber.SetComponentProperty("Increment", 10); // Connect the two components together IDTSPath100 path = dataFlowTask.PathCollection.New(); path.AttachPathAndPropagateNotifications(componentSource.OutputCollection[0], componentRowNumber.InputCollection[0]); #if DEBUG // Save package to disk, DEBUG only new Application().SaveToXml(String.Format(@"C:\Temp\{0}.dtsx", package.Name), package, null); #endif package.Execute(); foreach (DtsError error in package.Errors) { Console.WriteLine("ErrorCode : {0}", error.ErrorCode); Console.WriteLine(" SubComponent : {0}", error.SubComponent); Console.WriteLine(" Description : {0}", error.Description); } package.Dispose(); Troubleshooting Make sure you have downloaded the version that matches your version of SQL Server. We offer separate downloads for SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2012. If you get an error when you try and use the component along the lines of The component could not be added to the Data Flow task. Please verify that this component is properly installed.  ... The data flow object "Konesans ..." is not installed correctly on this computer, this usually indicates that the internal cache of SSIS components needs to be updated. This is held by the SSIS service, so you need restart the the SQL Server Integration Services service. You can do this from the Services applet in Control Panel or Administrative Tools in Windows. You can also restart the computer if you prefer. You may also need to restart any current instances of Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) / Visual Studio that you may be using to build your SSIS packages. Once installation is complete you need to manually add the task to the toolbox before you will see it and to be able add it to packages - How do I install a task or transform component? Please also make sure you have installed a minimum of SP1 for SQL 2005. The IDtsPipelineEnvironmentService was added in SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1) (See  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916940). If you get an error Could not load type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Design.IDtsPipelineEnvironmentService' from assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Design, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91'. when trying to open the user interface, it implies that your development machine has not had SP1 applied. Very occasionally we get a problem to do with the properties not being created with the correct data type. Since there is no way to programmatically to define the data type of a pipeline component property, it can only infer it. Whilst we set an integer value as we create the property, sometimes SSIS decides to define it is a decimal. This is often highlighted when you use a property expression against the property and get an error similar to Cannot convert System.Int32 to System.Decimal. Unfortunately this is beyond our control and there appears to be no pattern as to when this happens. If you do have more information we would be happy to hear it. To fix this issue you can manually edit the package file. In Visual Studio right click the package file from the Solution Explorer and select View Code, which will open the package as raw XML. You can now search for the properties by name or the component name. You can then change the incorrect property data types highlighted below from Decimal to Int32. <component id="37" name="Row Number Transformation" componentClassID="{BF01D463-7089-41EE-8F05-0A6DC17CE633}" … >     <properties>         <property id="38" name="UserComponentTypeName" …>         <property id="41" name="Seed" dataType="System.Int32" ...>10</property>         <property id="42" name="Increment" dataType="System.Decimal" ...>10</property>         ... If you are still having issues then contact us, but please provide as much detail as possible about error, as well as which version of the the task you are using and details of the SSIS tools installed.

  • Need some help on how to replay the last game of a java maze game

    - by Marty
Hello, I am working on creating a Java maze game for a project. The maze is displayed on the console as standard output not in an applet. I have created most of hte code I need, however I am stuck at one problem and that is I need a user to be able to replay the last game i.e redraw the maze with the users moves but without any input from the user. I am not sure on what course of action to take, i was thinking about copying each users move or the position of each move into another array, as you can see i have 2 variables which hold the position of the player, plyrX and plyrY do you think copying these values into a new array after each move would solve my problem and how would i go about this? I have updated my code, apologies about the textIO.java class not being present, not sure how to resolve that exept post a link to TextIO.java [TextIO.java][1] My code below is updated with a new array of type char to hold values from the original maze (read in from text file and displayed using unicode characters) and also to new variables c_plyrX and c_plyrY which I am thinking should hold the values of plyrX and plyrY and copy them into the new array. When I try to call the replayGame(); method from the menu the maze loads for a second then the console exits so im not sure what I am doing wrong Thanks public class MazeGame { //unicode characters that will define the maze walls, //pathways, and in game characters. final static char WALL = '\u2588'; //wall final static char PATH = '\u2591'; //pathway final static char PLAYER = '\u25EF'; //player final static char ENTRANCE = 'E'; //entrance final static char EXIT = '\u2716'; //exit //declaring member variables which will hold the maze co-ordinates //X = rows, Y = columns static int entX = 0; //entrance X co-ordinate static int entY = 1; //entrance y co-ordinate static int plyrX = 0; static int plyrY = 1; static int exitX = 24; //exit X co-ordinate static int exitY = 37; //exit Y co-ordinate //static member variables which hold maze values //used so values can be accessed from different methods static int rows; //rows variable static int cols; //columns variable static char[][] maze; //defines 2 dimensional array to hold the maze //variables that hold player movement values static char dir; //direction static int spaces; //amount of spaces user can travel //variable to hold amount of moves the user has taken; static int movesTaken = 0; //new array to hold player moves for replaying game static char[][] mazeCopy; static int c_plyrX; static int c_plyrY; /** userMenu method for displaying the user menu which will provide various options for * the user to choose such as play a maze game, get instructions, etc. */ public static void userMenu(){ TextIO.putln("Maze Game"); TextIO.putln("*********"); TextIO.putln("Choose an option."); TextIO.putln(""); TextIO.putln("1. • Learning AngularJS by Example – The Customer Manager Application

    - by dwahlin
I’m always tinkering around with different ideas and toward the beginning of 2013 decided to build a sample application using AngularJS that I call Customer Manager. It’s not exactly the most creative name or concept, but I wanted to build something that highlighted a lot of the different features offered by AngularJS and how they could be used together to build a full-featured app. One of the goals of the application was to ensure that it was approachable by people new to Angular since I’ve never found overly complex applications great for learning new concepts. The application initially started out small and was used in my AngularJS in 60-ish Minutes video on YouTube but has gradually had more and more features added to it and will continue to be enhanced over time. It’ll be used in a new “end-to-end” training course my company is working on for AngularjS as well as in some video courses that will be coming out. Here’s a quick look at what the application home page looks like: In this post I’m going to provide an overview about how the application is organized, back-end options that are available, and some of the features it demonstrates. I’ve already written about some of the features so if you’re interested check out the following posts: Building an AngularJS Modal Service Building a Custom AngularJS Unique Value Directive Using an AngularJS Factory to Interact with a RESTful Service Application Structure The structure of the application is shown to the right. The  homepage is index.html and is located at the root of the application folder. It defines where application views will be loaded using the ng-view directive and includes script references to AngularJS, AngularJS routing and animation scripts, plus a few others located in the Scripts folder and to custom application scripts located in the app folder. The app folder contains all of the key scripts used in the application. There are several techniques that can be used for organizing script files but after experimenting with several of them I decided that I prefer things in folders such as controllers, views, services, etc. Doing that helps me find things a lot faster and allows me to categorize files (such as controllers) by functionality. My recommendation is to go with whatever works best for you. Anyone who says, “You’re doing it wrong!” should be ignored. Contrary to what some people think, there is no “one right way” to organize scripts and other files. As long as the scripts make it down to the client properly (you’ll likely minify and concatenate them anyway to reduce bandwidth and minimize HTTP calls), the way you organize them is completely up to you. Here’s what I ended up doing for this application: Animation code for some custom animations is located in the animations folder. In addition to AngularJS animations (which are defined using CSS in Content/animations.css), it also animates the initial customer data load using a 3rd party script called GreenSock. Controllers are located in the controllers folder. Some of the controllers are placed in subfolders based upon the their functionality while others are placed at the root of the controllers folder since they’re more generic:   The directives folder contains the custom directives created for the application. The filters folder contains the custom filters created for the application that filter city/state and product information. The partials folder contains partial views. This includes things like modal dialogs used in the application. The services folder contains AngularJS factories and services used for various purposes in the application. Most of the scripts in this folder provide data functionality. The views folder contains the different views used in the application. Like the controllers folder, the views are organized into subfolders based on their functionality:   Back-End Services The Customer Manager application (grab it from Github) provides two different options on the back-end including ASP.NET Web API and Node.js. The ASP.NET Web API back-end uses Entity Framework for data access and stores data in SQL Server (LocalDb). The other option on the back-end is Node.js, Express, and MongoDB.   Using the ASP.NET Web API Back-End To run the application using ASP.NET Web API/SQL Server back-end open the .sln file at the root of the project in Visual Studio 2012 or higher (the free Express 2013 for Web version is fine). Press F5 and a browser will automatically launch and display the application. Using the Node.js Back-End To run the application using the Node.js/MongoDB back-end follow these steps: In the CustomerManager directory execute 'npm install' to install Express, MongoDB and Mongoose (package.json). Load sample data into MongoDB by performing the following steps: Execute 'mongod' to start the MongoDB daemon Navigate to the CustomerManager directory (the one that has initMongoCustData.js in it) then execute 'mongo' to start the MongoDB shell Enter the following in the mongo shell to load the seed files that handle seeding the database with initial data: use custmgr load("initMongoCustData.js") load("initMongoSettingsData.js") load("initMongoStateData.js") Start the Node/Express server by navigating to the CustomerManager/server directory and executing 'node app.js' View the application at http://localhost:3000 in your browser. Key Features The Customer Manager application certainly doesn’t cover every feature provided by AngularJS (as mentioned the intent was to keep it as simple as possible) but does provide insight into several key areas: Using factories and services as re-useable data services (see the app/services folder) Creating custom directives (see the app/directives folder) Custom paging (see app/views/customers/customers.html and app/controllers/customers/customersController.js) Custom filters (see app/filters) Showing custom modal dialogs with a re-useable service (see app/services/modalService.js) Making Ajax calls using a factory (see app/services/customersService.js) Using Breeze to retrieve and work with data (see app/services/customersBreezeService.js). Switch the application to use the Breeze factory by opening app/services.config.js and changing the useBreeze property to true. Intercepting HTTP requests to display a custom overlay during Ajax calls (see app/directives/wcOverlay.js) Custom animations using the GreenSock library (see app/animations/listAnimations.js) Creating custom AngularJS animations using CSS (see Content/animations.css) JavaScript patterns for defining controllers, services/factories, directives, filters, and more (see any JavaScript file in the app folder) Card View and List View display of data (see app/views/customers/customers.html and app/controllers/customers/customersController.js) Using AngularJS validation functionality (see app/views/customerEdit.html, app/controllers/customerEditController.js, and app/directives/wcUnique.js) More… Conclusion I’ll be enhancing the application even more over time and welcome contributions as well. Tony Quinn contributed the initial Node.js/MongoDB code which is very cool to have as a back-end option. Access the standard application here and a version that has custom routing in it here. Additional information about the custom routing can be found in this post.

  • C# Collision Math Help

    - by user36037
I am making my own collision detection in MonoGame. I have a PolyLine class That has a property to return the normal of that PolyLine instance. I have a ConvexPolySprite class that has a List LineSegments. I hav a CircleSprite class that has a Center Property and a Radius Property. I am using a static class for the collision detection method. I am testing it on a single line segment. Vector2(200,0) = Vector2(300, 200) The problem is it detects the collision anywhere along the path of line out into space. I cannot figure out why. Thanks in advance; public class PolyLine { //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- // Class Properties /// <summary> /// Property for the upper left-hand corner of the owner of this instance /// </summary> public Vector2 ParentPosition { get; set; } /// <summary> /// Relative start point of the line segment /// </summary> public Vector2 RelativeStartPoint { get; set; } /// <summary> /// Relative end point of the line segment /// </summary> public Vector2 RelativeEndPoint { get; set; } /// <summary> /// Property that gets the absolute position of the starting point of the line segment /// </summary> public Vector2 AbsoluteStartPoint { get { return ParentPosition + RelativeStartPoint; } }//end of AbsoluteStartPoint /// <summary> /// Gets the absolute position of the end point of the line segment /// </summary> public Vector2 AbsoluteEndPoint { get { return ParentPosition + RelativeEndPoint; } }//end of AbsoluteEndPoint public Vector2 NormalizedLeftNormal { get { Vector2 P = AbsoluteEndPoint - AbsoluteStartPoint; P.Normalize(); float x = P.X; float y = P.Y; return new Vector2(-y, x); } }//end of NormalizedLeftNormal //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- // Class Constructors /// <summary> /// Sole ctor /// </summary> /// <param name="parentPosition"></param> /// <param name="relStart"></param> /// <param name="relEnd"></param> public PolyLine(Vector2 parentPosition, Vector2 relStart, Vector2 relEnd) { ParentPosition = parentPosition; RelativeEndPoint = relEnd; RelativeStartPoint = relStart; }//end of ctor }//end of PolyLine class public static bool Collided(CircleSprite circle, ConvexPolygonSprite poly) { var distance = Vector2.Dot(circle.Position - poly.LineSegments[0].AbsoluteEndPoint, poly.LineSegments[0].NormalizedLeftNormal) + circle.Radius; if (distance <= 0) { return false; } else { return true; } }//end of collided

  • JQuery Validation [migrated]

    - by user41354
Im trying to get my form to validate...so basically its working, but a little bit too well, I have two text boxes, one is a start date, the other an end date in the format of mm/dd/yyyy if the start date is greater than the end date...there is an error if the end date is less than the start date...there is an error if the start date is less than today's date...there is an error The only thing is when I correct the error, the error warning is still there...here is my code: dates.change(function () { var testDate = $(this).val(); var otherDate = dates.not(this).val(); var now = new Date(); now.setHours(0, 0, 0, 0); // Pass Dates if (testDate != '' && new Date(testDate) < now) { addError($(this)); $('.flightDateError').text('* Dates cannot be earlier than today.'); isValid = false; return; } // Required Text if ($(this).hasClass("FromCal") && testDate == '') { addError($(this)); $('.flightDateError').text('* Required'); isValid = false; return; } // Validate Date if (!isValidDate(testDate)) { // $(this).addClass('validation_error_input'); addError($(this)); $('.flightDateError').text('* Invalid Date'); isValid = false; return; } else { // $(this).removeClass('validation_error_input'); removeError($(this)); if (!dates.not(this).hasClass('validation_error_input')) $('.flightDateError').text(' '); } // Validate Date Ranges if ($(this).val() != '' && dates.not(this).val != '') { if ($(this).hasClass("FromCal")) { if (new Date(testDate) > new Date(otherDate)) { addError($(this)); $('.flightDateError').text('* Start date must be earlier than end date.'); isValid = false; return; } } else{ if (new Date(testDate) < new Date(otherDate)) { addError($(this)); $('.flightDateError').text('* End date must be later than start date.'); return; } } } }); The main Issue is this part, I believe // Validate Date Ranges if ($(this).val() != '' && dates.not(this).val != '') { if ($(this).hasClass("FromCal")) { if (new Date(testDate) > new Date(otherDate)) { addError($(this)); $('.flightDateError').text('* Start date must be earlier than end date.'); isValid = false; return; } } else{ if (new Date(testDate) < new Date(otherDate)) { addError($(this)); $('.flightDateError').text('* End date must be later than start date.'); return; } } } testDate is the start date otherDate is the end date Thanks in advanced, J

  • Forensic Analysis of the OOM-Killer

    - by Oddthinking
Ubuntu's Out-Of-Memory Killer wreaked havoc on my server, quietly assassinating my applications, sendmail, apache and others. I've managed to learn what the OOM Killer is, and about its "badness" rules. While my machine is small, my applications are even smaller, and typically only half of my physical memory is in use, let alone swap-space, so I was surprised. I am trying to work out the culprit, but I don't know how to read the OOM-Killer logs. Can anyone please point me to a tutorial on how to read the data in the logs (what are ve, free and gen?), or help me parse these logs? Its job is to restart one of the applications if it dies, so a bit ironic that it is the first to get killed. Tail was monitoring a few logs files. Unlikely to be consuming memory madly. The apache web-server only serves pages to a little old lady who only uses it to get to church on Sundays a couple of developers who were in bed asleep, and hadn't visited a page on the site for a few weeks. The only traffic it might have had is from the port-scanners; all the content is password-protected and not linked from anywhere, so no spiders are interested. Python is running two separate custom applications. Nothing in the logs to suggest they weren't humming along as normal. One of them was a relatively recent implementation, which makes suspect #1. It doesn't have any data-structures of any significance, and normally uses only about 8% of the total physical RAW. It hasn't misbehaved since. The grep is suspect #2, and the one I want to be guilty, because it was a once-off command. The command (which piped the output of a grep -r to another grep) had been started at least 30 minutes earlier, and the fact it was still running is suspicious. However, I wouldn't have thought grep would ever use a significant amount of memory. It took a while for the OOM killer to get to it, which suggests it wasn't going mad, but the OOM killer stopped once it was killed, suggesting it may have been a memory-hog that finally satisfied the OOM killer's blood-lust.

  • Bundler isn't loading gems

    - by Garrett
I have been having a problem with using Bundler and being able to access my gems without having to require them somewhere, as config.gem used to do that for me (as far as I know). In my Rails 3 app, I defined my Gemfile like so: clear_sources source "http://gemcutter.org" source "http://gems.github.com" bundle_path "vendor/bundler_gems" ## Bundle edge rails: git "git://github.com/rails/arel.git" git "git://github.com/rails/rack.git" gem "rails", :git => "git://github.com/rails/rails.git" ## Bundle gem "mongo_mapper", :git => "git://github.com/jnunemaker/mongomapper.git" gem "bluecloth", ">= 2.0.0" Then I run gem bundle, it bundles it all up like expected. Inside the environment.rb file that is included within boot.rb it looks like this: # DO NOT MODIFY THIS FILE module Bundler file = File.expand_path(__FILE__) dir = File.dirname(file) ENV["PATH"] = • Can PetaPoco populate an object using a stored procedure with a join clause?

    - by Mark Kadlec
I have a stored procedure that does something similar to: SELECT a.TaskId, b.CompanyCode FROM task a JOIN company b ON b.CompanyId = a.CompanyId; I have an object called TaskItem that has the TaskId and CompanyCode properties, but when I execute the following (which I would have assumed worked): var masterDatabase = new Database("MasterConnectionString"); var s = PetaPoco.Sql.Builder.Append("EXEC spGetTasks @@numberOfTasks = @0", numberOfTasks); var tasks = masterDatabase.Query<Task>(s); The problem is that the CompanyCode column does not exist in the task table, I did a trace and it seems that PetaPoco is trying to select all the properties from the task table and populating using the stored procedure. How can I use PetaPoco to simply populate the list of task objects with the results of the stored procedure?

  • Routing with command controller and sub controllers without using areas

    - by user205258
How can I create a routing structure for a project management application where there are discrete controllers for all the relevant pieces such as TaskController, DocumentController etc and an Over arching controller. I would essentially like a structure like: http://server/Project/123/Task http://server/Project/123/Document I am using mvc1 so I have no access to areas etc. The project section will have a separate master page for project controllers such as task, document etc with a dfferent menu navigaton. I have tried three routes together n Global.asax like: routes.MapRoute( "Task", "Project/{id}/Task/{action}", new { controller = "Task", action = "Index", id = "" } ); routes.MapRoute( "Message", "Project/{id}/Message/{action}", new { controller = "Message", action = "Index", id = "" } ); routes.MapRoute( "Document", "Project/{id}/Document/{action}", new { controller = "Document", action = "Index", id = "" } ); What am I doing wrong here

  • How to set WCF threads to schedual differently

    - by Gilad
Hi, I'm running a winservice that has 2 main objectives. Execute/Handle exposed webmethods. Run Inner processes that consume allot of CPU. The problem is that when I execute many inner processes |(as tasks) that are queued to the threadpool or taskpool, the execution of the webmethods takes much more time as WCF also queues its executions to the same threadpool. This even happens when setting the inner processes task priority to lowest and setting the webmethods thread priority to heights. I hoped that Framework 4.0 would improve this, and they have, but still it takes quite allot of time for the system to handle the WCF queued tasks if the CPU is handling other inner tasks. Is it possible to change the Threadpool that WCF uses to a different one? Is it possible to manually change the task queue (global task queue, local task queue). Is it possible to manually handle 2 task queues that behave differently ? Any help in the subject would be appropriated. Gilad.

  • Validate a belongs to association in a build situation.

    - by Victor Martins
I have a Mission model that has_many Task, and the Task belongs_to Mission For security I've made this validation on the Task Model: validates_presence_of :mission_id validates_numericality_of :mission_id But the problem is that when create a Mission and add tasks like this: @mission.tasks.build The validation returns error, because the mission id on the task is null ( the mission wasn't yet created ) If I delete the validation, the Mission and Task is created successfuly, but how can I keep the validation and still have this work? I could do a callback after the save, but I don't think that's right, because I don't want to save Tasks without a mission_id. P.S. I'm hidding my mission field on the form. If I have it visible, it will show the currect mission and everything is ok. But if I hidde it the error happens. <%= f.hidden_field :mission, :label => "Missão" %> Is the form reseting the attributes given by the controller on the new action?

  • Core Data - NSPredicate to filter to-many relationship

    - by Macatomy
I have 2 entities, Task and List. Each task has a to-one relationship to a List object called "list", and there is an inverse relationship with List, which has a to-many relationship with Task called "tasks". I'm trying to use a fetch request with an NSPredicate to get all the Task objects that belong to a specified List: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"list=%@", theList]; [fetchRequest setPredicate:predicate]; (where "theParent" is a reference to a List object). However this returns no fetched objects. If I take out the predicate, then the objects are returned (so I do know they exist, and by NSLogging theList I know it has Task objects associated with it). Thanks

One of the requirements of the client is that a file(which will be large in size) should be transfered in chunks for example if we have a file of 5Mb size then we can have 5 threads which transfer 1 Mb each. I have written a small application which downloads a file. You can download the eclipe project from http://www.fileflyer.com/view/QM1JSC0 A brief explanation of my classes FileSender.java This class provides the bytes of file. It has a method called sendBytesOfFile(long start, long end, long sequenceNo) which gives the number of bytes. import java.io.File; import java.io.IOException; import java.util.zip.CRC32; import org.apache.commons.io.FileUtils; public class FileSender { private static final String FILE_NAME = "C:\\shared\\test.pdf"; public ByteArrayWrapper sendBytesOfFile(long start, long end, long sequenceNo){ try { File file = new File(FILE_NAME); byte[] fileBytes = FileUtils.readFileToByteArray(file); System.out.println("Size of file is " +fileBytes.length); System.out.println(); System.out.println("Start "+start +" end "+end); byte[] bytes = getByteArray(fileBytes, start, end); ByteArrayWrapper wrapper = new ByteArrayWrapper(bytes, sequenceNo); return wrapper; } catch (IOException e) { throw new RuntimeException(e); } } private byte[] getByteArray(byte[] bytes, long start, long end){ long arrayLength = end-start; System.out.println("Start : "+start +" end : "+end + " Arraylength : "+arrayLength +" length of source array : "+bytes.length); byte[] arr = new byte[(int)arrayLength]; for(int i = (int)start, j =0; i < end;i++,j++){ arr[j] = bytes[i]; } return arr; } public static long fileSize(){ File file = new File(FILE_NAME); return file.length(); } } Second Class is FileReceiver.java - This class receives the file. Small Explanation what this file does This class finds the size of the file to be fetched from Sender Depending upon the size of the file it finds the start and end position till the bytes needs to be read. It starts n number of threads giving each thread start, end, sequence number and a list which all the threads share. Each thread reads the number of bytes and creates a ByteArrayWrapper. ByteArrayWrapper objects are added to the list Then i have while loop which basically make sure that all threads have done their work finally it sorts the list based on the sequence number. then the bytes are joined, and a complete byte array is formed which is converted to a file. Code of File Receiver package com.filedownloader; import java.io.File; import java.io.IOException; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Collections; import java.util.Comparator; import java.util.List; import java.util.zip.CRC32; import org.apache.commons.io.FileUtils; public class FileReceiver { public static void main(String[] args) { FileReceiver receiver = new FileReceiver(); receiver.receiveFile(); } public void receiveFile(){ long startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); long numberOfThreads = 10; long filesize = FileSender.fileSize(); System.out.println("File size received "+filesize); long start = filesize/numberOfThreads; List<ByteArrayWrapper> list = new ArrayList<ByteArrayWrapper>(); for(long threadCount =0; threadCount<numberOfThreads ;threadCount++){ FileDownloaderTask task = new FileDownloaderTask(threadCount*start,(threadCount+1)*start,threadCount,list); new Thread(task).start(); } while(list.size() != numberOfThreads){ // this is done so that all the threads should complete their work before processing further. //System.out.println("Waiting for threads to complete. List size "+list.size()); } if(list.size() == numberOfThreads){ System.out.println("All bytes received "+list); Collections.sort(list, new Comparator<ByteArrayWrapper>() { @Override public int compare(ByteArrayWrapper o1, ByteArrayWrapper o2) { long sequence1 = o1.getSequence(); long sequence2 = o2.getSequence(); if(sequence1 < sequence2){ return -1; }else if(sequence1 > sequence2){ return 1; } else{ return 0; } } }); byte[] totalBytes = list.get(0).getBytes(); byte[] firstArr = null; byte[] secondArr = null; for(int i = 1;i<list.size();i++){ firstArr = totalBytes; secondArr = list.get(i).getBytes(); totalBytes = concat(firstArr, secondArr); } System.out.println(totalBytes.length); convertToFile(totalBytes,"c:\\tmp\\test.pdf"); long endTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); System.out.println("Total time taken with "+numberOfThreads +" threads is "+(endTime-startTime)+" ms" ); } } private byte[] concat(byte[] A, byte[] B) { byte[] C= new byte[A.length+B.length]; System.arraycopy(A, 0, C, 0, A.length); System.arraycopy(B, 0, C, A.length, B.length); return C; } private void convertToFile(byte[] totalBytes,String name) { try { FileUtils.writeByteArrayToFile(new File(name), totalBytes); } catch (IOException e) { throw new RuntimeException(e); } } } Code of ByteArrayWrapper package com.filedownloader; import java.io.Serializable; public class ByteArrayWrapper implements Serializable{ private static final long serialVersionUID = 3499562855188457886L; private byte[] bytes; private long sequence; public ByteArrayWrapper(byte[] bytes, long sequenceNo) { this.bytes = bytes; this.sequence = sequenceNo; } public byte[] getBytes() { return bytes; } public long getSequence() { return sequence; } } Code of FileDownloaderTask import java.util.List; public class FileDownloaderTask implements Runnable { private List<ByteArrayWrapper> list; private long start; private long end; private long sequenceNo; public FileDownloaderTask(long start, long end, long sequenceNo,List<ByteArrayWrapper> list) { this.list = list; this.start = start; this.end = end; this.sequenceNo = sequenceNo; } @Override public void run() { ByteArrayWrapper wrapper = new FileSender().sendBytesOfFile(start, end, sequenceNo); list.add(wrapper); } } Questions related to this code 1) Does file downloading becomes fast when multiple threads is used? In this code i am not able to see the benefit. 2) How should i decide how many threads should i create ? 3) Are their any opensource libraries which does that 4) The file which file receiver receives is valid and not corrupted but checksum (i used FileUtils of common-io) does not match. Whats the problem? 5) This code gives out of memory when used with large file(above 100 Mb) i.e. because byte array which is created. How can i avoid? I know this is a very bad code but i have to write this in one day -:). Please suggest any other good way to do this? Thanks Shekhar

  • Upgrading SSIS Custom Components for SQL Server 2012

Having finally got around to upgrading my custom components to SQL Server 2012, I thought I’d share some notes on the process. One of the goals was minimal duplication, so the same code files are used to build the 2008 and 2012 components, I just have a separate project file. The high level steps are listed below, followed by some more details. Create a 2012 copy of the project file Upgrade project, just open the new project file is VS2010 Change target framework to .NET 4.0 Set conditional compilation symbol for DENALI Change any conditional code, including assembly version and UI type name Edit project file to change referenced assemblies for 2012 Change target framework to .NET 4.0 Open the project properties. On the Applications page, change the Target framework to .NET Framework 4. Set conditional compilation symbol for DENALI Re-open the project properties. On the Build tab, first change the Configuration to All Configurations, then set a Conditional compilation symbol of DENALI. Change any conditional code, including assembly version and UI type name The value doesn’t have to be DENALI, it can actually be anything you like, that is just what I use. It is how I control sections of code that vary between versions. There were several API changes between 2005 and 2008, as well as interface name changes. Whilst we don’t have the same issues between 2008 and 2012, I still have some sections of code that do change such as the assembly attributes. #if DENALI [assembly: AssemblyDescription("Data Generator Source for SQL Server Integration Services 2012")] [assembly: AssemblyCopyright("Copyright © 2012 Konesans Ltd")] [assembly: AssemblyVersion("3.0.0.0")] #else [assembly: AssemblyDescription("Data Generator Source for SQL Server Integration Services 2008")] [assembly: AssemblyCopyright("Copyright © 2008 Konesans Ltd")] [assembly: AssemblyVersion("2.0.0.0")] #endif The Visual Studio editor automatically formats the code based on the current compilation symbols, hence in this case the 2008 code is grey to indicate it is disabled. As you can see in the previous example I have distinct assembly version attributes, ensuring I can run both 2008 and 2012 versions of my component side by side. For custom components with a user interface, be sure to update the UITypeName property of the DtsTask or DtsPipelineComponent attributes. As above I use the conditional compilation symbol to control the code. #if DENALI [DtsTask ( DisplayName = "File Watcher Task", Description = "File Watcher Task", IconResource = "Konesans.Dts.Tasks.FileWatcherTask.FileWatcherTask.ico", UITypeName = "Konesans.Dts.Tasks.FileWatcherTask.FileWatcherTaskUI,Konesans.Dts.Tasks.FileWatcherTask,Version=3.0.0.0,Culture=Neutral,PublicKeyToken=b2ab4a111192992b", TaskContact = "File Watcher Task; Konesans Ltd; Copyright © 2012 Konesans Ltd; http://www.konesans.com" )] #else [DtsTask ( DisplayName = "File Watcher Task", Description = "File Watcher Task", IconResource = "Konesans.Dts.Tasks.FileWatcherTask.FileWatcherTask.ico", UITypeName = "Konesans.Dts.Tasks.FileWatcherTask.FileWatcherTaskUI,Konesans.Dts.Tasks.FileWatcherTask,Version=2.0.0.0,Culture=Neutral,PublicKeyToken=b2ab4a111192992b", TaskContact = "File Watcher Task; Konesans Ltd; Copyright © 2004-2008 Konesans Ltd; http://www.konesans.com" )] #endif public sealed class FileWatcherTask: Task, IDTSComponentPersist, IDTSBreakpointSite, IDTSSuspend { // .. code goes on... } Shown below is another example I found that needed changing. I borrow one of the MS editors, and use it against a custom property, but need to ensure I reference the correct version of the MS controls assembly. This section of code is actually shared between the 2005, 2008 and 2012 versions of my component hence it has test for both DENALI and KATMAI symbols. #if DENALI const string multiLineUI = "Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Controls.ModalMultilineStringEditor, Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Controls, Version=11.0.00.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91"; #elif KATMAI const string multiLineUI = "Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Controls.ModalMultilineStringEditor, Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Controls, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91"; #else const string multiLineUI = "Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Controls.ModalMultilineStringEditor, Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Controls, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91"; #endif // Create Match Expression parameter IDTSCustomPropertyCollection100 propertyCollection = outputColumn.CustomPropertyCollection; IDTSCustomProperty100 property = propertyCollection.New(); property = propertyCollection.New(); property.Name = MatchParams.Name; property.Description = MatchParams.Description; property.TypeConverter = typeof(MultilineStringConverter).AssemblyQualifiedName; property.UITypeEditor = multiLineUI; property.Value = MatchParams.DefaultValue; Edit project file to change referenced assemblies for 2012 We now need to edit the project file itself. Open the MyComponente2012.cproj  in you favourite text editor, and then perform a couple of find and replaces as listed below: Find Replace Comment Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91 Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91 Change the assembly references version from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2012. Microsoft SQL Server\100\ Microsoft SQL Server\110\ Change any assembly reference hint path locations from from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2012. If you use any Build Events during development, such as copying the component assembly to the DTS folder, or calling GACUTIL to install it into the GAC, you can also change these now. An example of my new post-build event for a pipeline component is shown below, which uses the .NET 4.0 path for GACUTIL. It also uses the 110 folder location, instead of 100 for SQL Server 2008, but that was covered the the previous find and replace. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\Bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools\gacutil.exe" /if "$(TargetPath)" copy "$(TargetPath)" "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\PipelineComponents" /Y

  • rotating bitmaps. In code.

    - by Marco van de Voort
    Is there a faster way to rotate a large bitmap by 90 or 270 degrees than simply doing a nested loop with inverted coordinates? The bitmaps are 8bpp and typically 2048*2400*8bpp Currently I do this by simply copying with argument inversion, roughly (pseudo code: for x = 0 to 2048-1 for y = 0 to 2048-1 dest[x][y]=src[y][x]; (In reality I do it with pointers, for a bit more speed, but that is roughly the same magnitude) GDI is quite slow with large images, and GPU load/store times for textures (GF7 cards) are in the same magnitude as the current CPU time. Any tips, pointers? An in-place algorithm would even be better, but speed is more important than being in-place. Target is Delphi, but it is more an algorithmic question. SSE(2) vectorization no problem, it is a big enough problem for me to code it in assembler Duplicates How do you rotate a two dimensional array?. Follow up to Nils' answer Image 2048x2700 - 2700x2048 Compiler Turbo Explorer 2006 with optimization on. Windows: Power scheme set to "Always on". (important!!!!) Machine: Core2 6600 (2.4 GHz) time with old routine: 32ms (step 1) time with stepsize 8 : 12ms time with stepsize 16 : 10ms time with stepsize 32+ : 9ms Meanwhile I also tested on a Athlon 64 X2 (5200+ iirc), and the speed up there was slightly more than a factor four (80 to 19 ms). The speed up is well worth it, thanks. Maybe that during the summer months I'll torture myself with a SSE(2) version. However I already thought about how to tackle that, and I think I'll run out of SSE2 registers for an straight implementation: for n:=0 to 7 do begin load r0, <source+n*rowsize> shift byte from r0 into r1 shift byte from r0 into r2 .. shift byte from r0 into r8 end; store r1, <target> store r2, <target+1*<rowsize> .. store r8, <target+7*<rowsize> So 8x8 needs 9 registers, but 32-bits SSE only has 8. Anyway that is something for the summer months :-) Note that the pointer thing is something that I do out of instinct, but it could be there is actually something to it, if your dimensions are not hardcoded, the compiler can't turn the mul into a shift. While muls an sich are cheap nowadays, they also generate more register pressure afaik. The code (validated by subtracting result from the "naieve" rotate1 implementation): const stepsize = 32; procedure rotatealign(Source: tbw8image; Target:tbw8image); var stepsx,stepsy,restx,resty : Integer; RowPitchSource, RowPitchTarget : Integer; pSource, pTarget,ps1,ps2 : pchar; x,y,i,j: integer; rpstep : integer; begin RowPitchSource := source.RowPitch; // bytes to jump to next line. Can be negative (includes alignment) RowPitchTarget := target.RowPitch; rpstep:=RowPitchTarget*stepsize; stepsx:=source.ImageWidth div stepsize; stepsy:=source.ImageHeight div stepsize; // check if mod 16=0 here for both dimensions, if so -> SSE2. for y := 0 to stepsy - 1 do begin psource:=source.GetImagePointer(0,y*stepsize); // gets pointer to pixel x,y ptarget:=Target.GetImagePointer(target.imagewidth-(y+1)*stepsize,0); for x := 0 to stepsx - 1 do begin for i := 0 to stepsize - 1 do begin ps1:=@psource[rowpitchsource*i]; // ( 0,i) ps2:=@ptarget[stepsize-1-i]; // (maxx-i,0); for j := 0 to stepsize - 1 do begin ps2[0]:=ps1[j]; inc(ps2,RowPitchTarget); end; end; inc(psource,stepsize); inc(ptarget,rpstep); end; end; // 3 more areas to do, with dimensions // - stepsy*stepsize * restx // right most column of restx width // - stepsx*stepsize * resty // bottom row with resty height // - restx*resty // bottom-right rectangle. restx:=source.ImageWidth mod stepsize; // typically zero because width is // typically 1024 or 2048 resty:=source.Imageheight mod stepsize; if restx>0 then begin // one loop less, since we know this fits in one line of "blocks" psource:=source.GetImagePointer(source.ImageWidth-restx,0); // gets pointer to pixel x,y ptarget:=Target.GetImagePointer(Target.imagewidth-stepsize,Target.imageheight-restx); for y := 0 to stepsy - 1 do begin for i := 0 to stepsize - 1 do begin ps1:=@psource[rowpitchsource*i]; // ( 0,i) ps2:=@ptarget[stepsize-1-i]; // (maxx-i,0); for j := 0 to restx - 1 do begin ps2[0]:=ps1[j]; inc(ps2,RowPitchTarget); end; end; inc(psource,stepsize*RowPitchSource); dec(ptarget,stepsize); end; end; if resty>0 then begin // one loop less, since we know this fits in one line of "blocks" psource:=source.GetImagePointer(0,source.ImageHeight-resty); // gets pointer to pixel x,y ptarget:=Target.GetImagePointer(0,0); for x := 0 to stepsx - 1 do begin for i := 0 to resty- 1 do begin ps1:=@psource[rowpitchsource*i]; // ( 0,i) ps2:=@ptarget[resty-1-i]; // (maxx-i,0); for j := 0 to stepsize - 1 do begin ps2[0]:=ps1[j]; inc(ps2,RowPitchTarget); end; end; inc(psource,stepsize); inc(ptarget,rpstep); end; end; if (resty>0) and (restx>0) then begin // another loop less, since only one block psource:=source.GetImagePointer(source.ImageWidth-restx,source.ImageHeight-resty); // gets pointer to pixel x,y ptarget:=Target.GetImagePointer(0,target.ImageHeight-restx); for i := 0 to resty- 1 do begin ps1:=@psource[rowpitchsource*i]; // ( 0,i) ps2:=@ptarget[resty-1-i]; // (maxx-i,0); for j := 0 to restx - 1 do begin ps2[0]:=ps1[j]; inc(ps2,RowPitchTarget); end; end; end; end;

  • Delphi - Using DeviceIoControl passing IOCTL_DISK_GET_LENGTH_INFO to get flash media physical size (Not Partition)

    - by SuicideClutchX2
Alright this is the result of a couple of other questions. It appears I was doing something wrong with the suggestions and at this point have come up with an error when using the suggested API to get the media size. Those new to my problem I am working at the physical disk level, not within the confines of a partition or file system. Here is the pastebin code for the main unit (Delphi 2009) - http://clutchx2.pastebin.com/iMnq8kSx Here is the application source and executable with a form built to output the status of whats going on - http://www.mediafire.com/?js8e6ci8zrjq0de Its probably easier to use the download, unless your just looking for problems within the code. I will also paste the code here. unit Main; interface uses Windows, Messages, SysUtils, Variants, Classes, Graphics, Controls, Forms, Dialogs, StdCtrls; type TfrmMain = class(TForm) edtDrive: TEdit; lblDrive: TLabel; btnMethod1: TButton; btnMethod2: TButton; lblSpace: TLabel; edtSpace: TEdit; lblFail: TLabel; edtFail: TEdit; lblError: TLabel; edtError: TEdit; procedure btnMethod1Click(Sender: TObject); private { Private declarations } public { Public declarations } end; TDiskExtent = record DiskNumber: Cardinal; StartingOffset: Int64; ExtentLength: Int64; end; DISK_EXTENT = TDiskExtent; PDiskExtent = ^TDiskExtent; TVolumeDiskExtents = record NumberOfDiskExtents: Cardinal; Extents: array[0..0] of TDiskExtent; end; VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS = TVolumeDiskExtents; PVolumeDiskExtents = ^TVolumeDiskExtents; var frmMain: TfrmMain; const FILE_DEVICE_DISK = $00000007; METHOD_BUFFERED = 0; FILE_ANY_ACCESS = 0; IOCTL_DISK_BASE = FILE_DEVICE_DISK; IOCTL_VOLUME_BASE = DWORD('V'); IOCTL_DISK_GET_LENGTH_INFO = $80070017; IOCTL_VOLUME_GET_VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS = ((IOCTL_VOLUME_BASE shl 16) or (FILE_ANY_ACCESS shl 14) or (0 shl 2) or METHOD_BUFFERED); implementation {$R *.dfm} function GetLD(Drive: Char): Cardinal; var Buffer : String; begin Buffer := Format('\\.\%s:',[Drive]); Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ Or GENERIC_WRITE,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); If Result = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then begin Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); end; end; function GetPD(Drive: Byte): Cardinal; var Buffer : String; begin If Drive = 0 Then begin Result := INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE; Exit; end; Buffer := Format('\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE%d',[Drive]); Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ Or GENERIC_WRITE,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); If Result = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then begin Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); end; end; function GetPhysicalDiskNumber(Drive: Char): Byte; var LD : DWORD; DiskExtents : PVolumeDiskExtents; DiskExtent : TDiskExtent; BytesReturned : Cardinal; begin Result := 0; LD := GetLD(Drive); If LD = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then Exit; Try DiskExtents := AllocMem(Max_Path); DeviceIOControl(LD,IOCTL_VOLUME_GET_VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS,nil,0,DiskExtents,Max_Path,BytesReturned,nil); If DiskExtents^.NumberOfDiskExtents > 0 Then begin DiskExtent := DiskExtents^.Extents[0]; Result := DiskExtent.DiskNumber; end; Finally CloseHandle(LD); end; end; procedure TfrmMain.btnMethod1Click(Sender: TObject); var PD : DWORD; CardSize: Int64; BytesReturned: DWORD; CallSuccess: Boolean; begin PD := GetPD(GetPhysicalDiskNumber(edtDrive.Text[1])); If PD = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then Begin ShowMessage('Invalid Physical Disk Handle'); Exit; End; CallSuccess := DeviceIoControl(PD, IOCTL_DISK_GET_LENGTH_INFO, nil, 0, @CardSize, SizeOf(CardSize), BytesReturned, nil); if not CallSuccess then begin edtError.Text := IntToStr(GetLastError()); edtFail.Text := 'True'; end else edtFail.Text := 'False'; CloseHandle(PD); end; end. I placed a second method button on the form so I can write a different set of code into the app if I feel like it. Only minimal error handling and safeguards are there is nothing that wasn't necessary for debugging this via source. I tried this on a Sony Memory Stick using a PSP as the reader because I cant find the adapter for using a duo in my machine. The target is an MS and half of my users use a PSP for a reader half dont. However this should work fine on SD cards and that is a secondary target for my work as well. I tried this on a usb memory card reader and several SD cards. Now that I have fixed my attempt I get an error returned. 50 ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED The request is not supported. I have found an application that uses this API as well as alot of related functions for what I am trying todo. I am getting ready to look into it the application is called DriveImage and its source is here - http://sourceforge.net/projects/diskimage/ The only thing I have really noticed from that application is there use of TFileStream and using that to get a handle on the physical disk.

  • http/html/ajax: show result before site is completely processed

    - by chris
hi! I am looking for a way to show in a webapp in front of a task a wait-message and after it hide the message. The task is running a longer time. I dont know if it is possible at all. The problem is, so far I can see, that the site will be returned to the users browser AFTER the task is completed because the task is part of the site as a inline code replaces by the webserver interpreter (no matter if php, perl or whatever). The only solution I can imagine is to parallel the task with threads or processes and requery the state with ajax in the website. Any idea to do it less complex? Thanks for help! regards chris

  • Problems with NSTask in OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

    - by kubi
Has anyone else seen or heard of any issues with NSTask in 10.6? This code worked fine yesterday, and is not working today. NSTask *task = [converter task]; [task waitUntilExit]; NSLog(@"Task did complete"); The task does what it's supposed to do (I checked the output and it's fine), but the program will wait indefinitely at the waitUntilExit method. I have a few unit tests that use similar code, they all had passed previously, but as of yesterday, they are no longer working.

  • MPXJ in .NET converting java Date to .NET DateTime

    - by Jeff
I'm using the MPXJ library in .NET for parsing MS Project (MPP) files, and it's working great. The one issue I'm having is trying to translate the task Start and Finish date into .NET DateTime to use with my data models. I am going through all the tasks and calling task.getFinish() and task.getStart() that both return javva.util.Date objects. When I use task.getFinish().getYear(), task.getFinish().getMonth(), etc. to build up a new DateTime object it warns me that they are obsolete. What is the best way to get the start and finish dates from MPXJ into a .NET DateTime object? Thanks.

  • Concurrency Utilities for Java EE Early Draft (JSR 236)

    - by arungupta
Concurrency Utilities for Java EE is being worked as JSR 236 and has released an Early Draft. It provides concurrency capabilities to Java EE application components without compromising container integrity. Simple (common) and advanced concurrency patterns are easily supported without sacrificing usability. Using Java SE concurrency utilities such as java.util.concurrent API, java.lang.Thread and java.util.Timer in a Java EE application component such as EJB or Servlet are problematic since the container and server have no knowledge of these resources. JSR 236 enables concurrency largely by extending the Concurrency Utilities API developed under JSR-166. This also allows a consistency between Java SE and Java EE concurrency programming model. There are four main programming interfaces available: ManagedExecutorService ManagedScheduledExecutorService ContextService ManagedThreadFactory ManagedExecutorService is a managed version of java.util.concurrent.ExecutorService. The implementations of this interface are provided by the container and accessible using JNDI reference: <resource-env-ref>  <resource-env-ref-name>    concurrent/BatchExecutor  </resource-env-ref-name>  <resource-env-ref-type>    javax.enterprise.concurrent.ManagedExecutorService  </resource-env-ref-type><resource-env-ref> and available as: @Resource(name="concurrent/BatchExecutor")ManagedExecutorService executor; Its recommended to bind the JNDI references in the java:comp/env/concurrent subcontext. The asynchronous tasks that need to be executed need to implement java.lang.Runnable or java.util.concurrent.Callable interface as: public class MyTask implements Runnable { public void run() { // business logic goes here }} OR public class MyTask2 implements Callable<Date> {  public Date call() { // business logic goes here   }} The task is then submitted to the executor using one of the submit method that return a Future instance. The Future represents the result of the task and can also be used to check if the task is complete or wait for its completion. Future<String> future = executor.submit(new MyTask(), String.class);. . .String result = future.get(); Another example to submit tasks is: class MyTask implements Callback<Long> { . . . }class MyTask2 implements Callback<Date> { . . . }ArrayList<Callable> tasks = new ArrayList<();tasks.add(new MyTask());tasks.add(new MyTask2());List<Future<Object>> result = executor.invokeAll(tasks); The ManagedExecutorService may be configured for different properties such as: Hung Task Threshold: Time in milliseconds that a task can execute before it is considered hung Pool Info Core Size: Number of threads to keep alive Maximum Size: Maximum number of threads allowed in the pool Keep Alive: Time to allow threads to remain idle when # of threads > Core Size Work Queue Capacity: # of tasks that can be stored in inbound buffer Thread Use: Application intend to run short vs long-running tasks, accordingly pooled or daemon threads are picked ManagedScheduledExecutorService adds delay and periodic task running capabilities to ManagedExecutorService. The implementations of this interface are provided by the container and accessible using JNDI reference: <resource-env-ref>  <resource-env-ref-name>    concurrent/BatchExecutor  </resource-env-ref-name>  <resource-env-ref-type>    javax.enterprise.concurrent.ManagedExecutorService  </resource-env-ref-type><resource-env-ref> and available as: @Resource(name="concurrent/timedExecutor")ManagedExecutorService executor; And then the tasks are submitted using submit, invokeXXX or scheduleXXX methods. ScheduledFuture<?> future = executor.schedule(new MyTask(), 5, TimeUnit.SECONDS); This will create and execute a one-shot action that becomes enabled after 5 seconds of delay. More control is possible using one of the newly added methods: MyTaskListener implements ManagedTaskListener {  public void taskStarting(...) { . . . }  public void taskSubmitted(...) { . . . }  public void taskDone(...) { . . . }  public void taskAborted(...) { . . . } }ScheduledFuture<?> future = executor.schedule(new MyTask(), 5, TimeUnit.SECONDS, new MyTaskListener()); Here, ManagedTaskListener is used to monitor the state of a task's future. ManagedThreadFactory provides a method for creating threads for execution in a managed environment. A simple usage is: @Resource(name="concurrent/myThreadFactory")ManagedThreadFactory factory;. . .Thread thread = factory.newThread(new Runnable() { . . . }); concurrent/myThreadFactory is a JNDI resource. There is lot of interesting content in the Early Draft, download it, and read yourself. The implementation will be made available soon and also be integrated in GlassFish 4 as well.
