• USB mouse does not work on boot

  My problem is pretty much a duplicate of the one described in USB mouse late to load , but the solution there has not worked for me. I'm running the same OS and experiencing the exact same issue. It disappears after 10 seconds or so. • Selecting by observation in R table

  I was working through the Rosetta Code example of the knapsack problem in R and I came up with four solutions. What is the best way to output only one of the solutions based on the observation number give in the table? > values[values$value==max(values$value),] I II III value weight volume 2067 9 0 11 54500 25 25 2119 6 5 11 54500 25 25 2171 3 10 11 54500 25 25 2223 0 15 11 54500 25 25 My initial idea was to save this output to a new variable, then query the new variable such as: > newvariable <- values[values$value==max(values$value),] > newvariable2 <- newvariable[2,] > newvariable2 I II III value weight volume 2119 6 5 11 54500 25 25 This gives me the desired output but is there a cleaner way to do it?

• Blocking a distributed, consistent spam attack? Could it be something more serious?

  I will do my best to try and explain this as it's strange and confusing to me. I posted a little while ago about a sustained spike in mysql queries on a VPS I had recently setup. It turned out to be a single post on a site I was developmenting. The post had over 30,000 spam comments! Since the site was one I was slowly building I hadn't configured the anti-spam comment software yet. I've since deleted the particular post which has given the server a break but the post's url keeps on getting hit. The frustrating thing is every hit is from a different IP. How do I even start to block/prevent this? Is this even something I need to worry about? Here are some more specific details about my setup, just to give some context: Ubuntu 8.10 server with ufw setup The site I'm building is in Drupal which now has Mollom setup for spam control. It wasn't configured before. The requests happen inconsistently. Sometimes it's every couple seconds and other times it's a an or so between hits. However it's been going on pretty much constantly like that for over a week. • Simple Preferred time control using silverlight 3.

  Here I am going to show you a simple preferred time control, where you can select the day of the week and the time of the day. This can be used in lots of place where you may need to display the users preferred times. Sample screenshot is attached below. This control is developed using Silverlight 3 and VS2008, I am also attaching the source code with this post. This is a very basic example. You can download and customize if further for your requirement if you want. I am trying to explain in few words how this control works and what are the different ways in which you can customize it further. File: PreferredTimeControl.xaml, in this file I have just hardcoded the controls and their positions which you can see in the screenshot above. In this example, to change the start day of the week and time, you will have to go and change the design in XAML file, its not controlled by your properties or implementation classes. You can also customize it to change the start day of the week, Language, Display format, styles, etc, etc. File: PreferredTimeControl.xaml.cs, In this control using the code below, first I am taking all the checkbox from my form and store it in the Global Variable, which I can use across my page. It could be that I'm tired, or that there's really no way (google didn't help), but... if you have a list in python, and want to extract element at indices say 1, 2 and 5 into a new list, how do you do ? This is how I did it, but I'm not very satisfied >>> a [10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15] >>> [x[1] for x in enumerate(a) if x[0] in [1,2,5]] [11, 12, 15] any better way ? more in general, given a tuple with indices, how to use this tuple to extract the corresponding elements from a list, eventually with duplication (e.g. tuple (1,1,2,1,5) produces [11,11,12,11,15] )

  I can't figure out what's causing my INSERT INTO's to fail to certain table in MySql. I can manage them to other tables. The table looks like: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `Match` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `match_no` int(11) NOT NULL, `season` int(11) NOT NULL, `hometeam` int(11) NOT NULL, `awayteam` int(11) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`), KEY `match_no` (`match_no`), KEY `season` (`season`), KEY `hometeam` (`hometeam`), KEY `awayteam` (`awayteam`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ; And the command is INSERT INTO Match (`match_no`, `season`, `hometeam`, `awaytem`) VALUES (1, 1, 2, 3) All I get is: 1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Match (match_no, season, hometeam, awaytem) VALUES (1, 1, 2, 3)' at line 1 I have checked the manual and half-a-dozen examples from the web and whatnought and tried all sorts of changes to the syntax in case there is some MySql specific oddity, but nothing seems to work.

It's instructed that I need to use the String library compareTo()/charAt()/toLowerCase() to make all the characters lowercase so the Lexicon comparison is also a alphabetical comparison. Input Pseudo Code: String input[3]; Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("Enter three strings: "); for(byte i = 0; i < 3; i++) input[i] = keyboard.next() The sorting would be Insertion Sort: 321 2 3 1 2 31 231 1 23 1 2 3 1 23 1 23 123 Bubble Sort 321 231 213 123 Which would be more efficient in this case? The bubble sort seems to be more efficient though they seem to have equal stats for worst best and avg case, but I read the Insertion Sort is quicker for small amounts of data like my case.

Of course, removing the method is not really an option right now, and the model contains several other methods as well so I assume if I just move the humanize method around, it will generate an error on the next one. Using Solaris RBAC (Role-Based Access Control), one can give a non-root user permissions to execute those commands, but the commands still fail internally. Later it read using file handle 256. So what's the point to duplicate the file handle?   I'm wondering if there is a formula to work out the amount of IP addresses in a given range. I have a system that takes either a single IP address or a start and and end IP address: A single one might be: 145.16.23.241 A range might be: 145.16.23.122 - 145.16.23.144 The people inputting these aren't technical, nor are they receiving these details from technical people, so suggesting using CIDR notation isn't an answer for me. I want to be able to highlight that when entering a range such as: 122.100.10.12 - 128.10.200.140 it might not actually be a range and rather 2 singular IP addresses since such a range would comprise of x (large number of) IP addresses. Is there a basic formula to help me highlight this?
