  • start-stop-daemon quoted arguments misinterpreted

    Hi, I have been trying to make an init script using start-stop-daemon. I am stuck on the arguments to the daemon. I want to keep these in a variable at the top of the script but I can't get the quotations to filter down correctly. I'll use ls here so we don't have to look at binaries and arguments that most people wont know or care about. The end result I am looking for is for start-stop... to run ls -la "/folder with space/" DAEMON=/usr/bin/ls DAEMON_OPTS='-la "/folder with space/"' start-stop-daemon --start --make-pidfile --pidfile $PID --exec $DAEMON -- $DAEMON_OPTS Double escaping the options and trying innumerable variations of quotations do not help... Then they end up at the daemon they are always messed up. Enclosing $DAEMON_OPTS in quotes changes things... then they are seen as one since quote... never the right number though :) Echoing the command-line (start-stop...) prints exactly the right stuff to screen. But the daemon (the real one, not ls) complains about the wrong number of arguments. How do I specify a variable so that quotes inside it are brought along to the daemon correctly? Thanks, Martin

So, can I embed video (without flash and any player controls) in page? Can I decode video with transparent background? Is there any codecs which support transparent background (alpha-channel)?     So I have an SVG file created in Inkscape embedded in a webpage, and I'd like it to rotate slowly. I've tried using Javascript and inserting animation commands directly into the SVG, but nothing works. I don't want to load in an entire JS library for this one task.     When presenting a view controller that has toolbar items, is it possible for the toolbar to slide in with the view controller (i.e. slide in from the right) as opposed to it sliding from the bottom? In the view controller that is being presented, I've got the toolbar being shown within the -viewWillAppear: method, but the toolbar is being slid up from the bottom of the screen as opposed to it looking like it belongs to the view controller. - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:NO animated:YES]; ... }

  • How do I trigger specific parts of a storyboard in WPF?

    I have several grids in my window. I have created a storyboard that moves them left by x pixels when a button is clicked. I want to make it so that when the button is clicked again those grids move another x pixels, however I'm unable to find out how to do this as it's not a common task on tutorials. I have tried creating a second storyboard to do this, however that won't work as then the grids will be back at their starting positions. One solution might be to create a third set of keyframes after the first two sets, and somehow pause the animation when it gets there, and resumes it again when the button is clicked, however I'm not sure how to pause a storyboard when it reaches a keyframe. This would also make reversing the grids difficult (using this approach http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/wpf/thread/ac54de71-f750-4940-91a2-231810308727/), as I'd like to make another button make the grids go the other way.

  • How can I "slide up" a view on android from the bottom of a screen?

    I'm trying to make a really simple slide up list view, which is displayed when a user clicks on a button at the bottom of the screen. Here's how it should look: And a complete implementation in HTML/JS http://jsbin.com/utAQOVA/1/edit I've tried to use RelativeLayout to position the list just below the button, and put that whole thing into a wrapper and then animate that up/down (same as in the JSBin above). The problem is that the bottom part which isn't visible in the beginning is somehow clipped, even if I slide it up. Evern if I initially show a portion of the list as the screenshow below shows, the bottom part gets clipped when it moves up and only the part that was initially visible is displayed. What would be a proper approach to do this kind of animation? Here's a relevant portion of the layout

    I have written a java application which is a RMI server. I need to start rmiregistry to run this application and i also want my apllication to start automatically when the system starts. I have converted my application into a windows servise. When i try to start my service it shows this error Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly Is it because my program throws an exception when my application is started before the rmiregistry is started.

When i have my mouse over it-it expands out to a static width but, depending on the text length, it grabs it by the inner's text $('.inner').height(). I need this done one-by-one. How do I tell .show() to execute the next show() after the previous one is completed ? Or do I specify this in each() ?

  • How to "flick" a UIImageView?

    I've got some UIViews that I'd like the user to be able to "flick" across the screen. They're not scroll views. They simply contain a raster image (png). Can anyone point me to some sample code, etc to help get me started? Something a little more heavyweight than "MoveMe" out there that helps detect a "flick" (vs a "nudge" or a drag and drop) and then carries the view off in the direction of the "flick"? OpenGL probably overkill. If possible I'd like to stay w/in the realm of Core Graphics/Animation.
