• Font displays differently in Firefox vs. Chrome

  It seems that my menu bar is displayed with a different font stretch in Firefox than it is in Chrome. See the following: Here is the CSS applied to this element: font-variant: small-caps; font-size:13px; letter-spacing: 0px; font-family: Arial; font-stretch: normal; text-decoration: none; As far as I can tell everything regarding that font is exactly the same, yet they still display differently (see pic). • Architecture - 32-bit handling 64-bit instructions

But CPU op-mode(s) are 32-bit and 64-bit. The question is: how come? How is it handled that a 32-bit processor performs 64-bit operations? I guess it's a lot slower than native 32-bit operations. Is it built-in processor functionality (to emulate being 64-bit) or is it software dependent? When does it make sense for a 32-bit processor to run 64-bit operations?

• My first Windows Phone 7 application is live &ndash; from zero to submitted in 5 hours

  Tuesday evening I found myself minus family. I decided to use the time to “have a crack at this Silverlight Phone 7 stuff”. From zero (no experience, no tools installed, no membership on the AppHub) to submitted for approval took me from 8pm to 1am – with the last hour messing around with png files in Paint to complete the submission process! Two days later on Thursday it was approved and is now in the marketplace for you to install - or not :-) The application is very simple but it works and looks “finished” – and importantly I learnt a lot about what is involved and the power of our tooling to make this pretty easy to get going. Go on, give it a go by popping over to the App Hub. You do need to pay $99 to join the App Hub to publish but you can start by downloading the free tools and just work with the included emulator.   I've been out of the Ubuntu loop for quite a while now and have a completely new laptop now. Just installed Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit and would like to output my video and my audio via HDMI to my television. the following is the lspci | grep VGA for my computer. please tell me if there is any additional information needed and preferably how to obtain it and i will be more than happy to oblige. thank you in advance for your time and assistance in this matter. 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 540M] (rev a1) Edit: every time i restart my computer, after a short moment, i get an error message stating something along the lines "sorry, jockey needed to close unexpectedly." after researching, i discovered jockey is the name of the "additional drivers," which after initial installation, ubuntu informed me of proprietary drivers available. those are no longer available, and this error continues to occur.

• Would it be possible to build a client portal on Squarespace6?

  I'm helping a family member set up a site which will need to include a secure client portal, providing access to documents and a simple database. I have been encouraging them to go with a more established, open source CSM like drupal or joomla, whose capability in this area is evident. However, they have a strong preference for Squarespace. Does any one know if it would be possible to accomplish this with the new developer platform for squarespace 6? I've spent well over an hour searching google, the squarespace site and stackexchange, but can't seem to find any clear answer to this question. I'm grateful for any insight you all can provide.

• Second monitor not coming back on after going into hibernate

  10 and a new problem has come up. When I my machine hibernates the second monitor does not come back on. I did not have this problem in 11.04. The main monitor is plugged into a vga port, and the second plugged into a display port then an adapter to vga the system is a Dell Optiplex 790 and the graphics card is (according to lspci) a VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) I am running the classic Gnome desktop though the problem occurs in Unity as well.

  Following page list colors with names http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colors. For example #5D8AA8 Hex Triplet is "Air Force Blue". This information will be stored in a databse table (tbl_Color (HexTriplet,ColorName)) in my system Suppose I created a color with #5D8AA7 Hex Triplet. I need to get the nearest color available in the tbl_Color table. The expected anaser is "#5D8AA8 - Air Force Blue". This is because #5D8AA8 is the nearest color for #5D8AA7. Do we have any algorithm for finding the nearest color? How to write it using C# / Java? • Hotel Reservation Request Booking Paypal PHP

  I'm making a website for a small hotel in php. The hotel owners want a reservation system that uses paypal. They want people to see a calendar and choose a date to make a reservation. If the day has vacancy, they want the user to request booking a room. This would then require the hotel owner to accept the purchase. I have not worked on a project that has this "request to purchase" method of buying with paypal. Is this possible? Does anyone know of an open php system that handles this? THANKS :)

• Is ignoring clients data during an automatic upgrading acceptable?

  I recently faced a deletion of my calendar and notes data inside a third party application ( Horde ) on my online space. When I told the web hosting provider they replied that they were doing an upgrade to system software (!!) and client third party applications are not within their reach or backup policy. They don't even have a backup of my data. Is this practice acceptable from a web hosting provider, even for an individual clients ? I know that backing up my data is my responsibility but I anticipated that backup copies done by the host would be available when needed.

  I previously never bothered with it. but I just did a fresh install of 12.04 and figured "hey maybe i'll put in my google account and see what happens" I logged in with google and everyting like mal/calendar/contacts/chat is set to "on"... I figured it might automatically set up my gmail for various applications like empathy and thunderbird.. but I opened them up and found nothing... What exactly is the purpose of adding your account to "online accounts"? where is it used?

• Installer hangs at blinking dots

  I've got a problem. I've tried booting it from a 4gb FlashDrive many times and yet, it'll just show me blinking dots. I've tried the options (booting from first drive, trying ubuntu without installing, help, test memory). I cant! I've also tried Ubuntu 11.10 but the turns out the same. Additional specs: First HDD, 2 partitions, C: and E: by Windows. Second HDD, 2 partitions, F: and G: by Windows. First HDD: 40Gb, Second HDD: 32Gb. I've made the Second HDD blank and plan to install Ubuntu there. Any help will do. I've tried both of the ISO images of both Linux Distros, but it didn't work. Both of them results to these. HELP "Registered protocol family 1", then "_", Boot from first hard drive Cannot load a ramdisk with an old kernel image.
