  • Show list items specific to user sharepoint

    Hi all, In my project i have a asset list which contains "request to download" link. In the same list there is "download link" column which is default empty. Now when any user clicks on request to download link a workflow is activated and it will send request to approver to approve or reject the download request. If approver accept the request then the "download link" column in the asset list will be updated by some URL which redirect user to download page. Now what happen is, if user A send request to download asset to approver and approver approves it this will update respective item in asset list and put a download URL in "Download Link" column but if user B get look for the same record in asset list the download link will be visible to this user too which is wrong. I want to display download link columns value to only those user whos request has been approve. FYI: I am using WSS 3.0 Can anyone help me what should be the best approch to do this...?     tar on a directory "mydir" will archive hidden files and hidden subdirectories, but tar from within "mydir" with a wildcard will not. Is this a longstanding and known inconsistency or bug or is it that hardly anybody ever looks inside a lengthy tar log long enough to notice? Edit (additional information): tar from within "mydir" with a wildcard will not "see" nor archive hidden files and hidden subdirectories in the immediate directory, with emphasis on "immediate". However, in subdirectories of "mydir" (obviously non-hidden) hidden files and hidden subdirectories will be archived.

  • How to randomize a sorted list?

    Here's a strange question for you guys, I have a nice sorted list that I wish to randomize. How would i go about doing that? In my application, i have a function that returns a list of points that describe the outline of a discretized object. Due to the way the problem is solved, the function returns a nice ordered list. i have a second boundary described in math and want to determine if the two objects intersect each other. I simply itterate over the points and determine if any one point is inside the mathematical boundary. The method works well but i want to increase speed by randomizing the point data. Since it is likely that that my mathematical boundary will be overlapped by a series of points that are right beside each other, i think it would make sense to check a randomized list rather than iterating over a nice sorted one (as it only takes a single hit to declare an intersection). So, any ideas on how i would go about randomizing an ordered list?

  • File Storage for Web Applications: Filesystem vs DB vs NoSQL engines

    I have a web application that stores a lot of user generated files. Currently these are all stored on the server filesystem, which has several downsides for me. When we move "folders" (as defined by our application) we also have to move the files on disk (although this is more due to strange design decisions on the part of the original developers than a requirement of storing things on the filesystem). It's hard to write tests for file system actions; I have a mock filesystem class that logs actions like move, delete etc, without performing them, which more or less does the job, but I don't have 100% confidence in the tests. I will be adding some other jobs which need to access the files from other service to perform additional tasks (e.g. indexing in Solr, generating thumbnails, movie format conversion), so I need to get at the files remotely. Doing this over network shares seems dodgy... Dealing with permissions on the filesystem as sometimes given us problems in the past, although now that we've moved to a pure Linux environment this should be less of an issue. What are the downsides of storing files as BLOBs in MySQL? I guess that it would massively increase the database size and reduce the effectiveness of caches, but are there other problems? Do the same problems exist with NoSQL systems like Cassandra? Does anyone have any other suggestions that might be appropriate?

    Hi, I am working on a J2ME app which has dynamically generated Lists. Items on this list may be consequently selected, and the selection processed within the commandAction block. Is there a way to have the IDs of variables populating the List (from a remote database) included in the List item definition as in: this.append("A", null); this.append("B", null); or: String[] arrayOfValues = {"A", "B"}; new List("Menu", List.IMPLICIT, arrayOfValues, null); such that when an item is selected, perhaps A, I can also have its database ID for perhaps further processing. Is it possible to hide a field/data? Thanks.

    I have a simple Java program which reads a file directory and outputs a file list. I sort the files by name: String [] files = dirlist.list(); files = sort(files); My problem is that it sorts by name in a different way than Windows Explorer does. For instance if I have these files: abc1.doc, abc12.doc, abc2.doc. Java will sort like this: abc1.doc abc12.doc abc2.doc When I open the folder in Explorer, my files are sorted like this: abc1.doc abc2.doc abc12.doc How can I make Java sorts my files like in Windows Explorer? Is this a Windows trick?

  • jQuery-AJAX to rebind dropdown list to results from stored procedure

    I have a dropdown list of peoples names that is quite long. As many as 2,000 names. I would like to make it easier to find the name the user is interested in by limiting the dropdown list to a subset of names at a time. I have done this by creating a series of 26 links (A, B, C ... Z) that call a method in the code behind that populates the dropdown list with only those names starting with the letter the user clicked. This all works well but I would like to be able to use AJAX to accomplish this update of the dropdown list without a page refresh. I would like to use jQuery for the AJAX functionality rather than ASP.NET AJAX. My problem is I am not sure how to execute the stored procedure and then "rebind" the dropdown list with the new dataset via jQuery AJAX. Any suggestions or resources that might provide and example or walk-through? Thank you.

    I have several lists in Matlab that I want to write to the same excel file. I have one list xordered and another list aspl. I do not know the length of the lists till after I run the Matlab program. I used data = xlswrite('edgar.xls',fliplr(sortedx'),'A2:A3000') for the first list but when I tried to write another list to the same file like this I ended up with two different excel files named edgar.xls asp_data = xlswrite('edagr.xls', fliplr(aspl'), 'B2:B3000') Is there a way I can write both of these lists into the same excel file? xordered in the A column and aspl in the B column?

  • Working with multiple input and output files in Python

    I need to open multiple files (2 input and 2 output files), do complex manipulations on the lines from input files and then append results at the end of 2 output files. I am currently using the following approach: in_1 = open(input_1) in_2 = open(input_2) out_1 = open(output_1, "w") out_2 = open(output_2, "w") # Read one line from each 'in_' file # Do many operations on the DNA sequences included in the input files # Append one line to each 'out_' file in_1.close() in_2.close() out_1.close() out_2.close() The files are huge (each potentially approaching 1Go, that is why I am reading through these input files one at a time. I am guessing that this is not a very Pythonic way to do things. :) Would using the following form good? with open("file1") as f1: with open("file2") as f2: # etc. If yes, could I do it while avoiding the highly indented code that would result?     I have a list of numbers I am reading left to right. Anytime I encounter a sign change when reading the sequence I want to count it. X = [-3,2,7,-4,1,-1,1,6,-1,0,-2,1] X = [-, +, +, -, +, -, +, +, -, -,-,+] So, in this list there are 8 sign changes. When Item [0] (in this case -3) is negative it is considered a sign change. Also, any 0 in the list is considered [-]. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • getElementsByTagName returns 0-length list when called from didFinishLoad delegate

    I'm using the Chromium port of WebKit on Windows and I'm trying to retrieve a list of all of the images in my document. I figured the best way to do this was to implement WebKit::WebFrameClient::didFinishLoading like so: WebNodeList list = document->getElementsByTagName(L"img"); for (size_t i = 0; i < list.length(); ++i) { // Manipulate images here... } However, when this delegate fires, list.length() returns 0. The only times I've seen it return a list of non-zero length is when I substitute "body" or "head" for "img". Strangely enough, if I call getElementsByTagName(L"img") outside of the delegate, it works correctly. I'm guessing that the DOM isn't fully loaded when didFinishLoading is called, but that would seem to contradict the delegate's name. Does anyone know what I may be missing here?
