  In our daily life, we come across various Viruses. In this internet world, we do have lots of type of viruses come to visit us ! While for the beginners, Virus is a complicated matter to fight with. Please explain the way how the virus come flow across the PC using Internet. What are the ways to search for them in the Personal Computer ? Also, we do have various solutions available in the market of Anti-Viruses, but also have different comments available for different software. Which is actually, really a useful Anti-Virus in the market that can give reliable performance ? Every Personal Computer connected to internet has to face against the viruses. Isn't there any general solution using Internet itself through which all networked computers get protected against Viruses ? Please give any solution.

• Don't Change URL in Browser When Clicking <asp:LinkButton>

  I have an ASP.NET page that uses a menu based on asp:LinkButton control in a Master page. When a user selects a menu item, an onclick handler calls a method in my C# code. The method it calls just does a Server.Transfer() to a new page. From what I have read, this is not supposed to change the URL displayed in the browser. The problem is it that the URL changes in the browser as the user navigates the menu to different pages. Here is an item in the menu: <asp:LinkButton id="foo" runat="server" onclick="changeToHelp"><span>Help</span> </asp:LinkButton> In my C# code, I handle the event with a method like: protected void changeToHelp(object sender, EventArgs e) { Server.Transfer("Help.aspx"); } Any ideas how I can navigate through the menu without the browser's URL bar changing?

• Is it a good idea to use only a key to encrypt an entire (small) filesystem?

  This question comes as part of my doubts presented on a broader question about ideas implementing a small encrypted filesystem on Java Mobile phones (J2ME, BlackBerry, Android). Provided the litte feedback received, considering the density of the question, I decided to divide those doubts into small questions. So to sum up I plan to "create" an encrypted filesystem for for mobile phones (with the help of BoucyCastle or a subset of JCE), providing an API that let access to them in a transparent way. Encryption would be carried out on a file basis (not blocks). My question is this: Is it a good idea to use only a simmetric key (maybe AES-256) to encrypt all the files (they wouldn't be that many, maybe tens of them) and store this key in a keystore (protected by a pin) or would you rather encrypt each file with an on-the-fly generated key stored alongside each file, encrypting that key with the "master" key stored on the keystore? What are the benefits/drawbacks of each approach?

So question is is how to add tag around child controls.

  Dear Rails users! I have STI models in my Rails application. The ancestor model has validations with the validates_... methods which are working fine. But I have custom validations as well, and I would like to add more different custom validations in the descendants. These custom validations would depend on the class. If I write class DescendantA < Ancestor protected def validate # ... end end It simply overwrites the original validations. Is there a convention to do this in Rails?

• Copying pointers in C++

  Hello, I have a class A containing two pointers to objects of another class B. I want to initialize one pointer or the other depending on which one is passed to init(), which also takes other parameters. My situation is thus the following: class A { public: A(); init(int parameter, int otherParameter, B* toBeInitialized); protected: B* myB; B* myOtherB; }; Now my point is that I want to call init() as: init(640, 480, this->myB); or init(640, 480, this->myOtherB); Now, my init is implemented as: void init( int parameter, int otherParameter, B* toBeInitialized ) { toBeInitialized = someConstructorFunction(parameter, otherParameter); } The problem is that the two pointers are not initialized, I suspect that toBeInitialized is overwritten, but the original parameter is not modified. I am doing something wrong? Should I use references to pointers? Thank you Tommaso

• PHP/Apache Deny folder access to user but not to script

  Hey all, So I have this php web app, and one of my folder contains some files that can be downloaded. I have a download script that modifies the headers, in order to always offer a download link. (instead of showing a picture for example, when you click on a link, a download box pops out) Right now, if you enter a url like: http://www.mywebsite.com/content/ You get the listing of all the downloadable files, and of course, you can just download them all, without going through the website interface. Personally, I don't think it's a problem, since I often use downthemall or other downloading tool, and this type of access is a great time saver.... But of course my company does not think so :-p They want people to use the interface in order to view the Ads... Would they be a way, maybe with a protected .htaccess, to leave the folder access to my download script, but deny access to the users...? I hope I am making sense and you know what I mean :) All help/remarks appreciated!

  In couchdb website - technical overview - security and validation - http://couchdb.apache.org/docs/overview.html - it writes that (on reader access part) "To protect document contents, CouchDB documents can have a reader list. This is an optional list of reader-names allowed to read the document. When a reader list is used, protected documents are only viewable by listed users."   Hi everybody. I'm trying to make a tabbed menu for the asp.net website I'm working on. One of the pre-requisite is obviously to color the current tab differently, so the user can know on which tab is currently is.   I have the piece of code that reads data from file. I want to force IOException in this code for testing purpose (I want to check if code throws correct custom exception in this case). Is there a some way to create a file which is protected from being read, for example? Maybe dealing with some security checks can help? Please, note that passing name to not-existent file cannot help, because FileNotFoundException has separate catch clause. • Android use of an string array on another method

  Hi all. Im trying to make an activity that has a multiple choice dialog after you push a button. In there you select from a list of things. But these things are received from a web method before the dialog appears. So I create a string array after I receive them inside the onCreate to initialise it there with the correct size. But my dialog method then cant get the array because propably its out of its scope. My code looks like this @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) //Here is where the array is loaded to the multiple select dialog etc @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) //Here is where i initialise the array and get its contents etc I cant initialise my array when the class starts because I dont know its size yet. • When is it safe to do a Response.Redirect() without throwing an exception?

  I have an intermediary class extending System.Web.UI.Page for all of my pages that require authentication. The class mostly does custom authentication handling. When a user with insufficient access attempts to visit a page, I try to redirect the user back to the login page while preventing any further page events from being executed (ie. Page_load). The first solution that came to mind was the default implementation of Response.Redirect. Of course the downside to this is the possibility of ThreadAbortExceptions being thrown. • Deep Copy using Reflection in an Extension Method for Silverlight?

  So I'm trying to find a generic extension method that creates a deep copy of an object using reflection, that would work in Silverlight. Deep copy using serialization is not so great in Silverlight, since it runs in partial trust and the BinaryFormatter does not exist. I also know that reflection would be faster then serialization for cloning. It would be nice to have a method that works to copy public, private and protected fields, and is recursive so that it can copy objects in objects, and that would also be able to handle collections, arrays, etc. I have searched online, and can only find shallow copy implementations using reflection. I don't understand why, since you can just use MemberwiseClone, so to me, those implementations are useless. Thank You.

• What segments does C compiled program use?

  Hi, I read on OSDev wiki, that protected mode of x86 architecture allow you to create separate segments for code and data, while you cannot write into code section. That Windows (yes, this is the platform) loads new code into code segment, and data are created on data segment. But, if this is the case, how does program know it must switch segments to the data segment? Becouse if I understand it right, all adress instructions point to the segment you run the code from, unless you switch the descriptor. But I also read, that so colled flat memory model allows you to run code and data within one segment. But I read this only in connection to assembler. So, please, what is the case with C compiled code on Windows? Thanks.
