  • How can I do vertical paging with UITableView?

    - by vodkhang
    Let me describe the situation I am trying to do: I have a list of Items. When I go into ItemDetailView, which is a UITableView. I want to do paging here like: When I scroll down out of the table view, I want to display the next item. Like in Good Reader: Currently, I am trying 2 approaches but both do not really work for me. 1st: I let my UITableView over my scroll view and I have a nice animation and works quite ok except sometimes, the UITableView will receive event instead of my scroll view. And because, a UITableView is already a UITableView, this approach seems not be a good idea. Here is some code: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // a page is the width of the scroll view scrollView.pagingEnabled = YES; scrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(scrollView.frame.size.width, scrollView.frame.size.height * kNumberOfPages); scrollView.showsHorizontalScrollIndicator = NO; scrollView.showsVerticalScrollIndicator = YES; scrollView.scrollsToTop = NO; scrollView.delegate = self; [self loadScrollViewWithPage:0]; } - (void)loadScrollViewWithPage:(int)page { if (page < 0) return; if (page >= kNumberOfPages) return; [self.currentViewController.view removeFromSuperview]; self.currentViewController = [[[MyNewTableView alloc]initWithPageNumber:page] autorelease]; if (nil == currentViewController.view.superview) { CGRect frame = scrollView.frame; [scrollView addSubview:currentViewController.view]; } } - (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)sender { if (pageControlUsed) { return; } CGFloat pageHeight = scrollView.frame.size.height; int page = floor((scrollView.contentOffset.y - pageHeight / 2) / pageHeight) + 1; [self loadScrollViewWithPage:page]; } - (IBAction)changePage:(id)sender { int page = pageControl.currentPage; [self loadScrollViewWithPage:page]; // update the scroll view to the appropriate page CGRect frame = scrollView.frame; [scrollView scrollRectToVisible:frame animated:YES]; pageControlUsed = YES; } My second approach is: using pop and push of navigationController to pop the current ItemDetail and push a new one on top of it. But this approach will not give me a nice animation of scrolling down like the first approach. So, the answer to how I can get it done with either approach will be appreciated

  • iPhone: how to use performSelector:onThread:withObject:waitUntilDone: method?

    - by Michael Kessler
    Hi all, I am trying to use a separate thread for working with some API. The problem is that I am not able to use performSelector:onThread:withObject:waitUntilDone: method with a thread that I' instantiated for this. My code: @interface MyObject : NSObject { NSThread *_myThread; } @property(nonatomic, retain) NSThread *myThread; @end @implementation MyObject @synthesize myThread = _myThread; - (NSThread *)myThread { if (_myThread == nil) { NSThread *myThreadTemp = [[NSThread alloc] init]; [myThreadTemp start]; self. myThread = myThreadTemp; [myThreadTemp release]; } return _myThread; } - (id)init { if (self = [super init]) { [self performSelector:@selector(privateInit:) onThread:[self myThread] withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO]; } return self; } - (void)privateInit:(id)object { NSLog(@"MyObject - privateInit start"); } - (void)dealloc { [_myThread release]; _myThread = nil; [super dealloc]; } @end "MyObject - privateInit start" is never printed. What am I missing? I tried to instantiate the thread with target and selector, tried to wait for method execution completion (waitUntilDone:YES). Nothing helps. UPDATE: I don't need this multithreading for separating costly operations to another thread. In this case I could use the performSelectorInBackground as mentioned in few answers. The main reason for this separate thread is the need to perform all the actions in the API (TTS by Loquendo) from one single thread. Meaning that I have to create an instance of the TTS object and call methods on that object from the same thread all the time.

  • iphone custom navigation bar edit button

    - by Sarah
    Hi all, I use custom image for my navigation bar buttons using the following code, that allows me to make custom add button. I want to be able to do the same for the edit button item. UIImage *image=[UIImage imageNamed:@"Plus.png"]; UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; button.bounds = CGRectMake( 0, 0, image.size.width, image.size.height ); [button setBackgroundImage:image forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [button addTarget:self action:@selector(add) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; UIBarButtonItem *barButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:button]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = barButtonItem; [barButtonItem release]; self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; I'm doing this because I want to change the button text color.I would appreciate your help, Sarah

  • How to hide UIStatusBar and show UINavigationBar at the top when UIView changes to LandscapeOrientat

    - by KayKay
    I am using two views (portraitView and landscapeView) loaded from xib in a viewcontroller for different InterfaceOrientation each for Portrait and Landscape mode. The view in portrait mode has statusbar and navigationbar and other one has just the navigationbar. The problem is that even i made statusbar hidden programatically the view in Landscape mode has blank space left at the position of statusbar and below is navigationbar which is for sure looking embarrassing. Is it possible to put the navigationbar at the top - replacing the statusbar position. I tried many options like. if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft || interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight) { [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:NO]; self.navigationController.navigationBarHidden = NO; [[self view] setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 480, 320)]; self.navigationController.wantsFullScreenLayout = YES; self.view = self.landscapeView; } But despite all this efforts it only lefts the same 20x480 pixels blank space and below it navigationbar. But here there is no end to trouble when I switch back to portraitView, the navigation bar hides behind the statusbar mere showing remaining 320x(44-20)px on top. Please help and thanks in advance.

  • popView from UITabBarController inside UINavigationController

    - by Manu
    Hi, I'm building an application based on the Utility template from Xcode, to which I have added some more views. My application structure would be as follows: MainView (the app menu) Flip-side view (a calculator) UINavigationController Settings view viewDiDLoad: UITabBarController - Tab1 view (options) - Tab2 view (information text) I can navigate correctly from my MainView to my Flip-side view, which is also the root view of the Navigation Controller. From my Flip-side view, I push a second view of my Navigation Controller (Settings view) that is configured to show an UITabBarController, with two tabs, as soon as it loads (with viewDidLoad). If I remove the UITabBarController, I can return with no problems to my Flip-side view using "popViewController" from my Settings view. The problem comes if I load the UITabBarController in viewDiDLoad in my Settings view... the tabs work perfectly, but I'm not able to return to my Flip-side view (root view of the Navigation Controller) anymore. I CAN return if I use the Navigation Bar of the Navigation Controller, but I want to configure my own buttons and have the Navigation Bar hidden. So far I've tried the following methods: [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [self.navigationController popToRootViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [self.navigationController popToViewController:FlipSideViewController animated:YES]; But they don't seem to work. The first two just do nothing (the screen remains as it was), and the third one does not recognize the "FlipsideViewController" (maybe because it's a delegate of the MainViewController?). Is there a way to check what is exactly doing the "back" button of the Navigation Bar if I activate it? Should I be using delegates? Can I call a popViewController method in my Settings view from any of the two Tab views? This is my Flip-side view: - (IBAction)showSettingsView { SettingsViewController *controller = [[SettingsViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SettingsView" bundle:nil]; controller.title = @"Settings"; [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; } This is my Settings view: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; tabBarController = [[UITabBarController alloc] init]; Tab1ViewController* vc1 = [[Tab1ViewController alloc] init]; Tab2ViewController* vc2 = [[Tab2ViewController alloc] init]; NSArray* controllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:vc1, vc2, nil]; tabBarController.viewControllers = controllers; [self.view addSubview:tabBarController.view]; } And the method to return in one of the Tab views: - (IBAction)backFromTab1View { [self.navigationController popToViewController:FlipSideViewController animated:YES]; } Thanks very much and sorry if the question is too basic!

  • iphone: Help with AudioToolbox Leak: Stack trace/code included here...

    - by editor guy
    Part of this app is a "Scream" button that plays random screams from cast members of a TV show. I have to bang on the app quite a while to see a memory leak in Instruments, but it's there, occasionally coming up (every 45 seconds to 2 minutes.) The leak is 3.50kb when it occurs. Haven't been able to crack it for several hours. Any help appreciated. • game state singleton cocos2d, initWithEncoder always returns null

    - by taber
    Hi, I'm trying to write a basic test "game state" singleton in cocos2d, but for some reason upon loading the app, initWithCoder is never called. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks. Here's my singleton GameState.h: #import "cocos2d.h" @interface GameState : NSObject <NSCoding> { NSInteger level, score; Boolean seenInstructions; } @property (readwrite) NSInteger level; @property (readwrite) NSInteger score; @property (readwrite) Boolean seenInstructions; +(GameState *) sharedState; +(void) loadState; +(void) saveState; @end ... and GameState.m: #import "GameState.h" #import "Constants.h" @implementation GameState static GameState *sharedState = nil; @synthesize level, score, seenInstructions; -(void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } -(id)init { if(!(self = [super init])) return nil; level = 1; score = 0; seenInstructions = NO; return self; } +(void)loadState { @synchronized([GameState class]) { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *saveFile = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kSaveFileName]; Boolean saveFileExists = [[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:saveFile]; if(!sharedState) { sharedState = [GameState sharedState]; } if(saveFileExists == YES) { [sharedState release]; sharedState = [[NSKeyedUnarchiver unarchiveObjectWithFile:saveFile] retain]; } // at this point, sharedState is null, saveFileExists is 1 if(sharedState == nil) { // this always occurs CCLOG(@"Couldn't load game state, so initialized with defaults"); sharedState = [self sharedState]; } } } +(void)saveState { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *saveFile = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kSaveFileName]; [NSKeyedArchiver archiveRootObject:[GameState sharedState] toFile:saveFile]; } +(GameState *)sharedState { @synchronized([GameState class]) { if(!sharedState) { [[GameState alloc] init]; } return sharedState; } return nil; } +(id)alloc { @synchronized([GameState class]) { NSAssert(sharedState == nil, @"Attempted to allocate a second instance of a singleton."); sharedState = [super alloc]; return sharedState; } return nil; } +(id)allocWithZone:(NSZone *)zone { @synchronized([GameState class]) { if(!sharedState) { sharedState = [super allocWithZone:zone]; return sharedState; } } return nil; } ... -(void)encodeWithCoder:(NSCoder *)coder { [coder encodeInt:level forKey:@"level"]; [coder encodeInt:score forKey:@"score"]; [coder encodeBool:seenInstructions forKey:@"seenInstructions"]; } -(id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)coder { CCLOG(@"initWithCoder called"); self = [super init]; if(self != nil) { CCLOG(@"initWithCoder self exists"); level = [coder decodeIntForKey:@"level"]; score = [coder decodeIntForKey:@"score"]; seenInstructions = [coder decodeBoolForKey:@"seenInstructions"]; } return self; } @end ... I'm saving the state on app exit, like this: - (void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application { [GameState saveState]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] end]; } ... and loading the state when the app finishes loading, like this: - (BOOL) application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { ... [GameState loadState]; ... } I've tried moving around where I call loadState too, for example in my main CCScene, but that didn't seem to work either. Thanks again in advance.

  • Update iPhone UIProgressView during NSURLConnection download.

    - by Scott Pendleton
    I am using this code: NSURLConnection *oConnection=[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:oRequest delegate:self]; to download a file, and I want to update a progress bar on a subview that I load. For that, I use this code: - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { [oReceivedData appendData:data]; float n = oReceivedData.length; float d = self.iTotalSize; NSNumber *oNum = [NSNumber numberWithFloat:n/d]; self.oDPVC.oProgress.progress = [oNum floatValue]; } The subview is oDPVC, and the progress bar on it is oProgress. Setting the progress property does not update the control. From what I have read on the Web, lots of people want to do this and yet there is not a complete, reliable sample. Also, there is much contradictory advice. Some people think that you don't need a separate thread. Some say you need a background thread for the progress update. Some say no, do other things in the background and update the progress on the main thread. I've tried all the advice, and none of it works for me. One more thing, maybe this is a clue. I use this code to load the subview during applicationDidFinishLaunching: self.oDPVC = [[DownloadProgressViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"DownloadProgressViewController" bundle:nil]; [window addSubview:self.oDPVC.view]; In the XIB file (which I have examined in both Interface Builder and in a text editor) the progress bar is 280 pixels wide. But when the view opens, it has somehow been adjusted to maybe half that width. Also, the background image of the view is default.png. Instead of appearing right on top of the default image, it is shoved up about 10 pixels, leaving a white bar across the bottom of the screen. Maybe that's a separate issue, maybe not.

  • Problem releasing UIImageView after adding to UIScrollView

    - by Josiah Jordan
    I'm having a memory problem related to UIImageView. After adding this view to my UIScrollView, if I try to release the UIImageView the application crashes. According to the stack trace, something is calling [UIImageView stopAnimating] after [UIImageView dealloc] is called. However, if I don't release the view the memory is never freed up, and I've confirmed that there remains an extra retain call on the view after deallocating...which causes my total allocations to climb quickly and eventually crash the app after loading the view multiple times. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here though...I don't know what is trying to access the UIImageView after it has been released. I've included the relevant header and implementation code below (I'm using the Three20 framework, if that has anything to do with it...also, AppScrollView is just a UIScrollView that forwards the touchesEnded event to the next responder): Header: @interface PhotoHiResPreviewController : TTViewController <UIScrollViewDelegate> { NSString* imageURL; UIImage* hiResImage; UIImageView* imageView; UIView* mainView; AppScrollView* mainScrollView; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString* imageURL; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString* imageShortURL; @property (nonatomic, retain) UIImage* hiResImage; @property (nonatomic, retain) UIImageView* imageView; - (id)initWithImageURL:(NSString*)imageTTURL; Implementation: @implementation PhotoHiResPreviewController @synthesize imageURL, hiResImage, imageView; - (id)initWithImageURL:(NSString*)imageTTURL { if (self = [super init]) { hiResImage = nil; NSString *documentsDirectory = [NSString stringWithString:[NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) lastObject]]; [self setImageURL:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/%@.jpg", documentsDirectory, imageTTURL]]; } return self; } - (void)loadView { [super loadView]; // Initialize the scroll view hiResImage = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:self.imageURL]; CGSize photoSize = [hiResImage size]; mainScrollView = [[AppScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:[UIScreen mainScreen].bounds]; mainScrollView.autoresizingMask = ( UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight); mainScrollView.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor]; mainScrollView.contentSize = photoSize; mainScrollView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit; mainScrollView.delegate = self; // Create the image view and add it to the scrollview. UIImageView *tempImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, photoSize.width, photoSize.height)]; tempImageView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeCenter; [tempImageView setImage:hiResImage]; self.imageView = tempImageView; [tempImageView release]; [mainScrollView addSubview:imageView]; // Configure zooming. CGSize screenSize = [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds].size; CGFloat widthRatio = screenSize.width / photoSize.width; CGFloat heightRatio = screenSize.height / photoSize.height; CGFloat initialZoom = (widthRatio > heightRatio) ? heightRatio : widthRatio; mainScrollView.maximumZoomScale = 3.0; mainScrollView.minimumZoomScale = initialZoom; mainScrollView.zoomScale = initialZoom; mainScrollView.bouncesZoom = YES; mainView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[UIScreen mainScreen].bounds]; mainView.autoresizingMask = ( UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight); mainView.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor]; mainView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit; [mainView addSubview:mainScrollView]; // Add to view self.view = mainView; [imageView release]; [mainScrollView release]; [mainView release]; } - (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { return imageView; } - (void)dealloc { mainScrollView.delegate = nil; TT_RELEASE_SAFELY(imageURL); TT_RELEASE_SAFELY(hiResImage); [super dealloc]; } I'm not sure how to get around this. If I remove the call to [imageView release] at the end of the loadView method everything works fine...but I have massive allocations that quickly climb to a breaking point. If I DO release it, however, there's that [UIImageView stopAnimating] call that crashes the application after the view is deallocated. Thanks for any help! I've been banging my head against this one for days. :-P Cheers, Josiah

  • How to download a wav file from the web to a location on iPhone using NSFileHandle and NSURLConnecti

    - by Jinru
    Hi all, I want to download a wav file from a web service, cache it on the iphone and playback it using AVAudioPlayer. Using NSFileHandle and NSURLConnection seems a viable solution when dealing with relatively large files. However, after running the app in the simulator I don't see any saved file under the defined directory (NSHomeDirectory/tmp). Below is my basic code. Where am I doing wrong? Any thoughts are appreciated! #define TEMP_FOLDER [NSHomeDirectory() stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"tmp"] - (void)downloadToFile:(NSString*)name { NSString* filePath = [[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/%@.wav", TEMP_FOLDER, name] retain]; self.localFilePath = filePath; // set up FileHandle self.audioFile = [[NSFileHandle fileHandleForWritingAtPath:localFilePath] retain]; [filePath release]; // Open the connection NSURLRequest* request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:self.webURL cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60.0]; NSURLConnection* connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self]; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark NSURLConnection methods - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData*)data { [self.audioFile writeData:data]; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError*)error { NSLog(@"Connection failed to downloading sound: %@", [error description]); } - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [connection release]; [audioFile closeFile]; }

  • UITableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths out of order

    - by bschlenk
    I currently have a UISegmentedControl set to add/remove table view cells when its value changes. Removing cells works perfectly, however when I insert cells they're in reverse order every other time. NSArray *addindexes = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:[NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:2 inSection:0], [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:3 inSection:0], [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:4 inSection:0], nil]; NSArray *removeindexes = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:[NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:2 inSection:0], [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:3 inSection:0], [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:4 inSection:0], nil]; [self.tableView beginUpdates]; switch (switchType.selectedSegmentIndex) { case 0: [self.tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:addindexes withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationTop]; break; case 1: [self.tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:removeindexes withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationTop]; break; default: break; } [self.tableView endUpdates];} For example, every other time I add/remove cells they're in reverse order. (4, 3, 2 instead of 2, 3, 4) 1) Remove cells- add cells- correct order 2) Remove cells- add cells- incorrect order 3) Remove cells- add cells- correct order

  • UINavigationController with UIView and UITableView

    - by Tobster
    I'm creating a navigation-based app which displays a graph, rendered with openGL, and a tableview listing disclosure buttons of all of the elements that are displayed on the graph, and a settings disclosure button. The navigation controller is also a tableview delegate and datasource, and the tableview is added to the view programatically and has its' delegate and datasource set to 'self'. The OpenGL based graph view is added via IB. The problem I'm having is that I'm trying to push a view controller (either settings or graph element properties) within the didSelectRowAtIndexPath method. The method registers and the new view is pushed on, but the tableview stays and obscures part of the view that was pushed on, as if it has a different navigation controller. I can't seem to set the tableview's navigation controller to be the same as the rest of the UINavigationControllers' view. Does anyone know how I could fix this? My navigation controllers' initWithCoder method, where the tableview is added, appears as follows: elementList = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:tableFrame style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; elementList.dataSource = self; elementList.delegate = self; [self.view addSubview:elementList]; Further in the source file, the DidSelectRowAtIndexPath method where the navigation controller is pushed appears as follows: Settings* Controller = [[Settings alloc] init]; [self pushViewController:Controller animated:YES]; [Controller release];

  • Core Data - JSON (TouchJSON) on iPhone

    - by Urizen
    I have the following code which seems to go on indefinitely until the app crashes. It seems to happen with the recursion in the datastructureFromManagedObject method. I suspect that this method: 1) looks at the first managed object and follows any relationship property recursively. 2) examines the object at the other end of the relationship found at point 1 and repeats the process. Is it possible that if managed object A has a to-many relationship with object B and that relationship is two-way (i.e an inverse to-one relationship to A from B - e.g. one department has many employees but each employee has only one department) that the following code gets stuck in infinite recursion as it follows the to-one relationship from object B back to object A and so on. If so, can anyone provide a fix for this so that I can get my whole object graph of managed objects converted to JSON. #import "JSONUtils.h" @implementation JSONUtils - (NSDictionary*)dataStructureFromManagedObject:(NSManagedObject *)managedObject { NSDictionary *attributesByName = [[managedObject entity] attributesByName]; NSDictionary *relationshipsByName = [[managedObject entity] relationshipsByName]; //getting the values correspoinding to the attributes collected in attributesByName NSMutableDictionary *valuesDictionary = [[managedObject dictionaryWithValuesForKeys:[attributesByName allKeys]] mutableCopy]; //sets the name for the entity being encoded to JSON [valuesDictionary setObject:[[managedObject entity] name] forKey:@"ManagedObjectName"]; NSLog(@"+++++++++++++++++> before the for loop"); //looks at each relationship for the given managed object for (NSString *relationshipName in [relationshipsByName allKeys]) { NSLog(@"The relationship name = %@",relationshipName); NSRelationshipDescription *description = [relationshipsByName objectForKey:relationshipName]; if (![description isToMany]) { NSLog(@"The relationship is NOT TO MANY!"); [valuesDictionary setObject:[self dataStructureFromManagedObject:[managedObject valueForKey:relationshipName]] forKey:relationshipName]; continue; } NSSet *relationshipObjects = [managedObject valueForKey:relationshipName]; NSMutableArray *relationshipArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; for (NSManagedObject *relationshipObject in relationshipObjects) { [relationshipArray addObject:[self dataStructureFromManagedObject:relationshipObject]]; } [valuesDictionary setObject:relationshipArray forKey:relationshipName]; } return [valuesDictionary autorelease]; } - (NSArray*)dataStructuresFromManagedObjects:(NSArray*)managedObjects { NSMutableArray *dataArray = [[NSArray alloc] init]; for (NSManagedObject *managedObject in managedObjects) { [dataArray addObject:[self dataStructureFromManagedObject:managedObject]]; } return [dataArray autorelease]; } //method to call for obtaining JSON structure - i.e. public interface to this class - (NSString*)jsonStructureFromManagedObjects:(NSArray*)managedObjects { NSLog(@"-------------> just before running the recursive method"); NSArray *objectsArray = [self dataStructuresFromManagedObjects:managedObjects]; NSLog(@"-------------> just before running the serialiser"); NSString *jsonString = [[CJSONSerializer serializer] serializeArray:objectsArray]; return jsonString; } - (NSManagedObject*)managedObjectFromStructure:(NSDictionary*)structureDictionary withManagedObjectContext:(NSManagedObjectContext*)moc { NSString *objectName = [structureDictionary objectForKey:@"ManagedObjectName"]; NSManagedObject *managedObject = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:objectName inManagedObjectContext:moc]; [managedObject setValuesForKeysWithDictionary:structureDictionary]; for (NSString *relationshipName in [[[managedObject entity] relationshipsByName] allKeys]) { NSRelationshipDescription *description = [[[managedObject entity]relationshipsByName] objectForKey:relationshipName]; if (![description isToMany]) { NSDictionary *childStructureDictionary = [structureDictionary objectForKey:relationshipName]; NSManagedObject *childObject = [self managedObjectFromStructure:childStructureDictionary withManagedObjectContext:moc]; [managedObject setValue:childObject forKey:relationshipName]; continue; } NSMutableSet *relationshipSet = [managedObject mutableSetValueForKey:relationshipName]; NSArray *relationshipArray = [structureDictionary objectForKey:relationshipName]; for (NSDictionary *childStructureDictionary in relationshipArray) { NSManagedObject *childObject = [self managedObjectFromStructure:childStructureDictionary withManagedObjectContext:moc]; [relationshipSet addObject:childObject]; } } return managedObject; } //method to call for obtaining managed objects from JSON structure - i.e. public interface to this class - (NSArray*)managedObjectsFromJSONStructure:(NSString *)json withManagedObjectContext:(NSManagedObjectContext*)moc { NSError *error = nil; NSArray *structureArray = [[CJSONDeserializer deserializer] deserializeAsArray:[json dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF32BigEndianStringEncoding] error:&error]; NSAssert2(error == nil, @"Failed to deserialize\n%@\n%@", [error localizedDescription], json); NSMutableArray *objectArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; for (NSDictionary *structureDictionary in structureArray) { [objectArray addObject:[self managedObjectFromStructure:structureDictionary withManagedObjectContext:moc]]; } return [objectArray autorelease]; } @end

  • UIImagePickerController does nothing when using camera after I hit "Use" button

    - by wgpubs
    Code below. When I hit the "Use" button after taking a picture ... the application becomes totally unresponsive. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? The "addPlayer:" method is called when a button is pressed on the UIViewController's view. Thanks - (IBAction) addPlayers: (id)sender{ // Show ImagePicker UIImagePickerController *imagePicker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; imagePicker.delegate = self; // If camera is available use it and display custom overlay view so that user can add as many pics // as they want without having to go back to parent view if([UIImagePickerController isSourceTypeAvailable: UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera]) { imagePicker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; } else { imagePicker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypePhotoLibrary; } [self presentModalViewController:imagePicker animated:YES]; [imagePicker release]; } - (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info { // Grab original image UIImage *photo = [info objectForKey:UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage]; // Resize photo first to reduce memory consumption [self.photos addObject:[photo scaleToSize:CGSizeMake(200.0f, 300.0f)]]; // Enable *PLAY* button if photos > 1 if([self.photos count] > 1) btnStartGame.enabled = YES; // Update player count label lblPlayerCount.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", [self.photos count]]; // Dismiss picker if not using camera picker dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; }

  • How to filter queryset in changelist_view in django admin?

    - by minder
    Let's say I have a site where Users can add Entries through admin panel. Each User has his own Category he is responsible for (each Category has an Editor assigned through ForeingKey/ManyToManyField). When User adds Entry, I limit the choices by using EntryAdmin like this: class EntryAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): (...) def formfield_for_foreignkey(self, db_field, request, **kwargs): if db_field.name == 'category': if request.user.is_superuser: kwargs['queryset'] = Category.objects.all() else: kwargs['queryset'] = Category.objects.filter(editors=request.user) return db_field.formfield(**kwargs) return super(EntryAdmin, self).formfield_for_foreignkey(db_field, request, **kwargs) This way I can limit the categories to which a User can add Entry and it works perfect. Now the tricky part: On the Entry changelist/action page I want to show only those Entries which belong to current User's Category. I tried to do this using this method: def changelist_view(self, request, extra_context=None): if not request.user.is_superuser: self.queryset = self.queryset.filter(editors=request.user) But I get this error: AttributeError: 'function' object has no attribute 'filter' This is strange, because I thought it should be a typical QuerySet. Basically such methods are not well documented and digging through tons of Django code is not my favourite sport. Any ideas how can I achieve my goal?

  • SOLVED mwfeedparser integrating in my app gives EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=1, address=0xa0040008)

    - by Pranoy C
    SOLVED- Got it! The problem was that since I am creating the DoParsingStuff *parseThisUrl object in the viewDidLoad method, it's scope was only within that method. So after the method finished, the object got deallocated. I changed it to an instance variable instead and now it works. It gives a different error but that it an entirely different issue. Issue was: I have been struggling with trying to integrate the mwfeedparser library in my app for parsing RSS and ATOM feeds. It throws a gives EXC_BAD_ACCESS error which I can't seem to troubleshoot. //My Class looks like - My interface looks like: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "MWFeedParser.h" #import "NSString+HTML.h" @protocol ParseCompleted <NSObject> -(void)parsedArray:(NSMutableArray *)parsedArray; @end @interface DoParsingStuff : NSObject<MWFeedParserDelegate> @property (nonatomic,strong) NSMutableArray *parsedItems; @property (nonatomic, strong) NSArray *itemsToDisplay; @property (nonatomic,strong) MWFeedParser *feedParser; @property (nonatomic,strong) NSURL *feedurl; @property (nonatomic,strong) id <ParseCompleted> delegate; -(id)initWithFeedURL:(NSURL *)url; @end //And Implementaion: #import "DoParsingStuff.h" @implementation DoParsingStuff @synthesize parsedItems = _parsedItems; @synthesize itemsToDisplay = _itemsToDisplay; @synthesize feedParser = _feedParser; @synthesize feedurl=_feedurl; @synthesize delegate = _delegate; -(id)initWithFeedURL:(NSURL *)url{ if(self = [super init]){ _feedurl=url; _feedParser = [[MWFeedParser alloc] initWithFeedURL:_feedurl]; _feedParser.delegate=self; _feedParser.feedParseType=ParseTypeFull; _feedParser.connectionType=ConnectionTypeAsynchronously; } return self; } -(void)doParsing{ BOOL y = [_feedParser parse]; } # pragma mark - # pragma mark MWFeedParserDelegate - (void)feedParserDidStart:(MWFeedParser *)parser { //Just tells what url is being parsed e.g. http://www.wired.com/reviews/feeds/latestProductsRss NSLog(@"Started Parsing: %@", parser.url); } - (void)feedParser:(MWFeedParser *)parser didParseFeedInfo:(MWFeedInfo *)info { //What is the Feed about e.g. "Product Reviews" NSLog(@"Parsed Feed Info: “%@”", info.title); //self.title = info.title; } - (void)feedParser:(MWFeedParser *)parser didParseFeedItem:(MWFeedItem *)item { //Prints current element's title e.g. “An Arthropod for Your iDevices” NSLog(@"Parsed Feed Item: “%@”", item.title); if (item) [_parsedItems addObject:item]; } - (void)feedParserDidFinish:(MWFeedParser *)parser {//This is where you can do your own stuff with the parsed items NSLog(@"Finished Parsing%@", (parser.stopped ? @" (Stopped)" : @"")); [_delegate parsedArray:_parsedItems]; //[self updateTableWithParsedItems]; } - (void)feedParser:(MWFeedParser *)parser didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"Finished Parsing With Error: %@", error); if (_parsedItems.count == 0) { //self.title = @"Failed"; // Show failed message in title } else { // Failed but some items parsed, so show and inform of error UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Parsing Incomplete" message:@"There was an error during the parsing of this feed. Not all of the feed items could parsed." delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"Dismiss" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; } //[self updateTableWithParsedItems]; } @end //I am calling this from my main viewcontroller as such: #import "DoParsingStuff.h" @interface ViewController : UIViewController <ParseCompleted> .... //And I have the following methods in my implementation: DoParsingStuff *parseThisUrl = [[DoParsingStuff alloc] initWithFeedURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.theverge.com/rss/index.xml"]]; parseThisUrl.delegate=self; [parseThisUrl doParsing]; I have the method defined here as- -(void)parsedArray:(NSMutableArray *)parsedArray{ NSLog(@"%@",parsedArray); } //I stepped through breakpoints- When I try to go through the breakpoints, I see that everything goes fine till the very last [parseThisUrl doParsing]; in my delegate class. After that it starts showing me memory registers where I get lost. I think it could be due to arc as I have disabled arc on the mwfeedparser files but am using arc in the above classes. If you need the entire project for this, let me know. I tried it with NSZombies enabled and got a bit more info out of it: -[DoParsingStuff respondsToSelector:]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x6a52480 I am not using release/autorelease/retain etc. in this class...but it is being used in the mwfeedparser library.

  • Cheetah with Cherrypy: how to load base templates, and do so automatically on change during developm

    - by Heikki Toivonen
    I am working on a cherrypy+cheetah app and would like to improve the development experience. I have everything working when I manually compile templates beforehand. However, during development I'd rather just load the templates every time they are referenced so that I don't need to kill and restart my application. I have a couple of issues I am facing: If I have templates inheriting from base templates, I get import errors (can't find base templates). I think I had this actually working during my experiments, but unfortunately didn't save it and now I can't make it work. Suppose I get 1. working, how do make it so that edits even in base templates get picked up without restart. Below is my sample application that should demonstrate the problems. The directory structure is as follows: t.py templates/ base.tmpl index.tmpl t.py: import sys import cherrypy from Cheetah.Template import Template class T: def __init__(self, foo): self.foo = foo @cherrypy.expose def index(self): return Template(file='templates/index.tmpl', searchList=[{'foo': self.foo}]).respond() cherrypy.quickstart(T(sys.argv[1])) base.tmpl: #def body This is the body from the base #end def This is the base doc index.tmpl: #from templates.base import base #extends base #def body $base.body(self) This is the extended body #end def This is from index Run it like this: python t.py Something

  • iPhone SDK: TextView, Keyboard in Landscape mode

    - by Arnold
    Hello. How do I make sure that the textview is shown and the keyboard is not obscuring the textview, while in landscape. Using UICatalog I created a TextViewController which works. In it there are two methods for calling the keyboard and making sure that textView is positioned above the keyboard. his just works great in Portrait mode. I got the Landscape mode working, but on the textView is still being put to the top of the iPhone to compensate for the keyboard in portrait mode. I changed the methods for showing the keyboards. Below is the code for this methods: (I will just let see the code for show, since the hide code will be the reverse.. - (void)keyboardWillShow:(NSNotification *)aNotification { UIInterfaceOrientation orientation = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] statusBarOrientation]; if (orientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait) { // the keyboard is showing so resize the table's height CGRect keyboardRect = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey] CGRectValue]; NSTimeInterval animationDuration = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardAnimationDurationUserInfoKey] doubleValue]; CGRect frame = self.view.frame; frame.size.height -= keyboardRect.size.height; [UIView beginAnimations:@"ResizeForKeyboard" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:animationDuration]; self.view.frame = frame; [UIView commitAnimations]; } else if (orientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft) { NSLog(@"Left"); // Verijderen later CGRect keyboardRect = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey] CGRectValue]; NSTimeInterval animationDuration = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardAnimationDurationUserInfoKey] doubleValue]; CGRect frame = self.view.frame; frame.size.width -= keyboardRect.size.height; [UIView beginAnimations:@"ResizeForKeyboard" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:animationDuration]; self.view.frame = frame; [UIView commitAnimations]; } else if (orientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight){ NSLog(@"Right"); // verwijderen later. CGRect keyboardRect = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey] CGRectValue]; NSTimeInterval animationDuration = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardAnimationDurationUserInfoKey] doubleValue]; CGRect frame = self.view.frame; frame.size.width -= keyboardRect.size.width; [UIView beginAnimations:@"ResizeForKeyboard" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:animationDuration]; self.view.frame = frame; [UIView commitAnimations]; } } I know that I have to change the line frame.size.height -= keyboardRect.size.height but I do not seem to get it working. I tried frame.size.width -= keyboardRect.size.height that did not work. Losing the keyboardRect and frame all together work, however off course the keyboard obscures the textview........

  • Django QuerySet filter method returns multiple entries for one record

    - by Yaroslav
    Trying to retrieve blogs (see model description below) that contain entries satisfying some criteria: Blog.objects.filter(entries__title__contains='entry') The results is: [<Blog: blog1>, <Blog: blog1>] The same blog object is retrieved twice because of JOIN performed to filter objects on related model. What is the right syntax for filtering only unique objects? Data model: class Blog(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=100) def __unicode__(self): return self.name class Entry(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=100) blog = models.ForeignKey(Blog, related_name='entries') def __unicode__(self): return self.title Sample data: b1 = Blog.objects.create(name='blog1') e1 = Entry.objects.create(title='entry 1', blog=b1) e1 = Entry.objects.create(title='entry 2', blog=b1)

  • call a class method from inside an instance method from a module mixin (rails)

    - by sean
    Curious how one would go about calling a class method from inside an instance method of a module which is included by an active record class. For example I want both user and client models to share the nuts and bolts of password encryption. # app/models class User < ActiveRecord::Base include Encrypt end class Client < ActiveRecord::Base include Encrypt end # app/models/shared/encrypt.rb module Encrypt def authenticate # I want to call the ClassMethods#encrypt_password method when @user.authenticate is run self.password_crypted == self.encrypt_password(self.password) end def self.included(base) base.extend ClassMethods end module ClassMethods def encrypt_password(password) Digest::SHA1.hexdigest(password) end end end However, this fails. Says that the class method cannot be found when the instance method calls it. I can call User.encrypt_password('password') but User.new.encrypt_password fails Any thoughts?

  • TTLauncherItem: change badge immediately (or: how to refresh TTLauncherView)

    - by vikingosegundo
    I have a TTLauncherView with some TTLauncherItems. These show badges, representing messages from the network. I set the badges in viewWillAppear:, so if I switch to another view and then return, the correct badges are shown. But I want to update the badges as soon a message comes in. Calling setNeedsDisplay on TTLauncherView doesn't help? How can I refresh the TTLauncherView? in my MessageReceiver class I do this: TTNavigator* navigator = [TTNavigator navigator]; [(OverviewController *)[navigator viewControllerForURL:@"tt://launcher"] reloadLauncherView] ; My TTViewController-derived OverviewController @implementation OverviewController - (id)init { if (self = [super init]) { self.title = OverviewTitle; } return self; } - (void)dealloc { [items release]; [overView release]; [super dealloc]; } -(void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; overView = [[TTLauncherView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds]; overView.backgroundColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; overView.delegate = self; overView.columnCount = 4; items = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; for(int i = 1; i <= NumberOfBars; ++i){ NSString *barID = [NSString stringWithFormat:NameFormat, IDPrefix, i]; TTLauncherItem *item = [[[TTLauncherItem alloc] initWithTitle:barID image:LogoPath URL:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"tt://item/%d", i] canDelete:NO] autorelease]; [barItems addObject: item]; } overView.pages = [NSArray arrayWithObject:items]; [self.view addSubview:overView]; } -(void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { for(int i = 0; i <[barItems count]; i++){ TTLauncherItem *item = [items objectAtIndex:i]; NSString *barID = [NSString stringWithFormat:NameFormat, IDPrefix, i+1]; P1LOrderDispatcher *dispatcher = [OrderDispatcher sharedInstance]; P1LBarInbox *barInbox = [dispatcher.barInboxMap objectForKey:barID]; item.badgeNumber = [[barInbox ordersWithState:OrderState_New]count]; } [super viewWillAppear:animated]; } - (void)launcherView:(TTLauncherView*)launcher didSelectItem:(TTLauncherItem*)item { TTDPRINT(@"%@", item); TTNavigator *navigator = [TTNavigator navigator]; [navigator openURLAction:[TTURLAction actionWithURLPath:item.URL]]; } -(void)reloadLauncherView { [overView setNeedsDisplay];//This doesn't work } @end

  • NSCollectionView subclass doesn't call drawRect during drag session despite setNeedsDisplay

    - by Alain Vitry
    Greetings, I am puzzled as to how and when drawRect is supposed to be called in a NSCollectionView subclass. I implement drag and drop operation in order to move NSCollectionViewItems within the collection, and would like to draw a visual indication of where the drop would end. The subclass does not call drawRect during the drag session. (It does during scroll) Is this the intended operation ? Any hint on how to implement this behavior properly are welcome. A full xcode project of the following code is available at: http://babouk.ovh.org/dload/MyCollectionView.zip Best regards Code sample: @interface CollectionViewAppDelegate : NSObject <NSApplicationDelegate> { NSWindow *window; NSMutableArray *collectionContent; } /* properties declaration */ /* KVC compliance declarations */ @end @interface MyCollectionView : NSCollectionView @end @interface ItemModel { NSString *name; } @property (copy) NSString *name; @end @implementation MyCollectionView - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)rect { NSLog(@"DrawRect"); } - (void)mouseDragged:(NSEvent *)aEvent { NSPoint localPoint = [self convertPoint:[aEvent locationInWindow] fromView:nil]; [self dragImage:[NSImage imageNamed:@"Move.png"] at:localPoint offset:NSZeroSize event:aEvent pasteboard:nil source:self slideBack:NO]; } - (BOOL)prepareForDragOperation:(id < NSDraggingInfo >)sender { return YES; } - (NSDragOperation)draggingEntered:(id <NSDraggingInfo>)sender { return NSDragOperationEvery; } - (NSDragOperation)draggingUpdated:(id <NSDraggingInfo>)sender { [self setNeedsDisplay:YES]; return NSDragOperationEvery; } - (NSDragOperation)draggingSourceOperationMaskForLocal:(BOOL)isLocal { return NSDragOperationEvery; } - (void)mouseDown:(NSEvent *)theEvent { } @end @implementation CollectionViewAppDelegate @synthesize window, collectionContent, collectionView; - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(NSNotification *)aNotification { NSMutableArray *data = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; /* Fill in data */ [self setCollectionContent:data]; [data release]; } /* dealloc */ /* KVC implementation */ @end @implementation ItemModel @synthesize name; /* dealloc */ @end
