    I need to write a daemon that supposed to have one TCP socket and one named pipe. Usually if I need to implement a multi IO server with "pure" sockets, the select based multi-IO model is always the one I will choose. so does anyone of you have ever used named pipe in select or you can just tell me it is impossible. thanks in advance.

    Does anyone know of a tool like PowerArchitect or SquirrelSQL or maybe eclipse plugin that lets you also generate jpa/sql queries? Imagine you choosing your database, or your entity beans, and the modeling would reverse engineer your database/entity model, so that you could visually just choose the columns you wanted to select, and it would generate jpa or sql queries for you. For instance choosing A.b and X.y would generate something like this: select a.b, x.y from A a, X x join ......

  • Separating positive values from 'zero' values in an XSLT for-each statement

    I am traversing an XML file (that contains multiple tables) using XSLT. Part of the job of the page is to get the title of each table, and present that title with along with the number of items that table contains (i.e. "Problems (5)"). I am able to get the number of items, but I now need to separate the sections with 0 (zero) items in them, and put them at the bottom of the list of table titles. I'm having trouble with this because the other items with positive numbers need to be left in their original order/not sorted. Here is the code for the list of titles: <ul> <xsl:for-each select="n1:component/n1:structuredBody/n1:component/n1:section/n1:title"> <li style="list-style-type:none;"> <div style = "padding:3px"><a href="#{generate-id(.)}"> <xsl:variable name ="count" select ="count(../n1:entry)"/> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test = "$count != 0"> <xsl:value-of select="."/> (<xsl:value-of select="$count"/>) </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <div id = "zero"><xsl:value-of select="."/> (<xsl:value-of select="$count"/>)</div> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </a> </div> </li> </xsl:for-each> </ul> Right now, the "zero" div just marks each link as gray.   • Why is giving a fixed width to a label an accepted behavior?

    There are a lot of questions about formatting forms so that labels align, and almost all the answers which suggest a pure CSS solution (as opposed to using a table) provide a fixed width to the label element. But isn't this mixing content and presentation? In order to choose the right width you basically have to see how big your longest label is and try a pixel width value until "it fits". This means that if you change your labels you also have to change your CSS.

  • "IntelliTrace debugging not available" error in Visual Studio 2010

    In XP 32bit Visual Studio 2010 I get the error below when I start debugging with IntelliTrace enabled. Doesn't IntelliTrace work in Windows XP or is there some setting which causes this error? UPDATE: The error occurs when I choose the second option to add call information in the IntelliTrace settings. There's nothing in the event log about this error. The question now is how to find out why VS is having trouble adding call information.

    I am triggering the transformation using a .NET code, unless I add "EnableDocumentFunction" property to the XSL-Setting, the program throws error saying .. "Usage of Document() function is prohibited", Actually the program is not editable and a kind of read-only .. is it possible to edit the XSL code itself so that I can use document() function??     I am building a C++ application that uses Intel's IPP library. This library is installed by default in /opt and requires you to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH both for compiling and for running your software (if you choose the shared library linking, which I did). I already modified my configure.ac/Makefile.am so that I do not need to set that variable when compiling, but I still can't find the shared library at run-time; how do I do that? I'm compiling with the -Wl, -R/path/to/lib flag using g++
