  • Concatenate text files with Windows command line, dropping leading lines

    I need to concatenate some relatively large text files, and would prefer to do this via the command line. Unfortunately I only have Windows, and cannot install new software. type file1.txt file2.txt > out.txt allows me to almost get what I want, but I don't want the 1st line of file2.txt to be included in out.txt. I have noticed that more has the +n option to specify a starting line, but I haven't managed to combine these to get the result I want. I'm aware that this may not be possible in Windows, and I can always edit out.txt by hand to get rid of the line, but is there a simple way of doing it from the command line?

  • EXCEL import to sql returning NULL for decimals when in VARCHAR data type

    Hi, I am working on a peice of software which has expodentially grown over the last few years and the database needs to be regularly updated. Customers are providing us with data now on large spreadsheets which we format and will start importing into the database. I am using the Import and Export Data (32-bit) Wizard. One column in the database contains values like '1.1.1.2' etc and i am importing them in as a Varchar as that is the data type in the database. However, for values like '8.5', 'NULL' is getting imported insead. It only occurs when there is one decimal point. Is this a formatting error with excel or is it the wrong datatype?

  • How do I serialize/deserialize a NHibernate entity that has references to other objects?

    I have two NHibernate-managed entities that have a bi-directional one-to-many relationship: public class Storage { public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual IList<Box> Boxes { get; set; } } public class Box { public virtual string Box { get; set; } [DoNotSerialize] public virtual Storage ParentStorage { get; set; } } A Storage can contain many Boxes, and a Box always belongs in a Storage. I want to edit a Box's name, so I send it to the client using JSON. Note that I don't serialize ParentStorage because I'm not changing which storage it's in. The client edits the name and sends the Box back as JSON. The server deserializes it back into a Box entity. Problem is, the ParentStorage property is null. When I try to save the Box to the database, it updates the name, but also removes the relationship to the Storage. How do I properly serialize and deserialize an entity like a Box, while keeping the JSON data size to a minimum?

    Hello: I have a note table with columns: title :string content :text rating :integer and a thinking_sphinx configuration: define_index do indexes :title, :sortable => true indexes :content end Then I can search the notes and assign weights to title and content to define the order or the result: Note.search "abc", :match_mode => :extended, :field_weights => { :title => 10, :content => 3 } Now I want to assign a weight to the rating column The type of the rating column is integer. The range of the rating is [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Can I just add weight at the :field_weights :field_weights => { :title => 10, :content => 3, :rating => 5 } or I need to do something else to make the note which has higer rating display first?

  • how to diff / align Python lists using arbitrary matching function?

    I'd like to align two lists in a similar way to what difflib.Differ would do except I want to be able to define a match function for comparing items, not just use string equality, and preferably a match function that can return a number between 0.0 and 1.0, not just a boolean. So, for example, say I had the two lists: L1 = [('A', 1), ('B', 3), ('C', 7)] L2 = ['A', 'b', 'C'] and I want to be able to write a match function like this: def match(item1, item2): if item1[0] == item2: return 1.0 elif item1[0].lower() == item2.lower(): return 0.5 else: return 0 and then do: d = Differ(match_func=match) d.compare(L1, L2) and have it diff using the match function. Like difflib, I'd rather the algorithm gave more intuitive Ratcliff-Obershelp type results rather than a purely minimal Levenshtein distance.

  • How can I write a file on an sftp-server with PHP?

    Hi, I hope someone here could help me, because I couldn't find any solution with Google. What I have to do is to generate a XML-string (that works) an save that directly into a file on an sftp-server. So far, so good... I used the following code with ftp and it works to, but not with ftps. So I either need another options-configuration for the stream or a different way to solve that task.     I am setting up dynamic forum signature images for my users and I want to be able to put their username on the image.   • Create an Edit view similar to Contacts App

    I have an edit view in my app which is a instance of UITableViewController and contains one cell with a textfield in a grouped table. At the moment this cell is at the top of the screen and is firstResponder so they keyboard is visible as well. But in all the Apples apps like the Contacts App when you edit a piece of information like an Email it buts both of its rows in the middle between the Nav Bar and the Keyboard not at the top of the screen.     I would like to build two different versions of a WAR in Maven (I know that's a no-no, that's just the way it is given the current situation). In the version of a WAR depicted by an assembly, I want to replace a dependency by the same dependency with a different classifier. For example, I was expecting this assembly to work: <assembly> <id>end-user</id> <formats> <format>war</format> </formats> <dependencySets> <dependencySet> <excludes> <exclude>group:artifact:jar:${project.version}</exclude> </excludes> <includes> <include>group:artifact:jar:${project.version}:end-user</include> </includes> </dependencySet> </dependencySets> </assembly> This doesn't work, but am I heading in the right direction? I've already read all the pages on the Maven assembly page and the section on the Maven Definitive Guide that seems relevant. Any pointers would be helpful.

  • Loading large amounts of data to an Oracle SQL Database

    Hey all, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with what I am about to embark on. I have several csv files which are all around a GB or so in size and I need to load them into a an oracle database. While most of my work after loading will be read-only I will need to load updates from time to time. Basically I just need a good tool for loading several rows of data at a time up to my db. Here is what I have found so far: I could use SQL Loader t do a lot of the work I could use Bulk-Insert commands Some sort of batch insert. Using prepared statement somehow might be a good idea. I guess I was wondering what everyone thinks is the fastest way to get this insert done. Any tips?

  • Quick and easy flood protection?

    I have a site where a user submits a message using AJAX to a file called like.php. In this file the users message is submitted to a database and it then sends a link back to the user. In my Javascript code I disabled the text box the user types into when they submit the AJAX request. The only problem is, a malicious user can just constantly send POST requests to like.php and flood my database. So I would like to implement simple flood protection. I don't really want the hassle of another database table logging users IPs and such... as if they are flooding my site there will be a lot of database read/writes slowing it down. I thought about using sessions, like have a session that contains a timestamp that gets checked every time they send data to like.php, and if the current time is before the timestamp let them add data to the database, otherwise send out an error and block them. If they are allowed to enter something into the database, update their session with a new timestamp. What do you think? Would this be the best way to go about it or are there easier alternatives?   • Log4net 1.2.10 running on .NET 1.1 and 2.0 not compatible

    I have old code that uses log4net version 1.2.10 targeted for the .NET 1.1 platform. My current code uses lognet version 1.2.10 targeted for the .NET 2.0 platform When I mix the old and new code all hell breaks loose. Code written today on .NET 4.0 and VS2010 can use the 2.0 log4net dll just fine. but if I put in the 1.1 version, it breaks. Conversely, the old dlls will break if I use the 2.0 log4net dll. I do not want to force my old dlls onto 2.0. Is there a good solution? I guess what bugs me most is that the log4net has the same version number, but I cannot fool my code and dlls into working with a single version.

  • What's the "right" way to get Win32 p/Invoke declarations?

    I typically use the site http://www.pinvoke.net/ to grab a DllImport declaration whenever I need to call a Win32 API, and I've noticed it's the de facto standard response on Stack Overflow to API interop questions. Is this what "everyone" does? Is there a better way? Does Microsoft offer an alternative? e.g. a tool that reads .h files and outputs an assembly. Why aren't there some standard assemblies that just expose all the Win32 APIs? What would be the barrier to creating them and using them, as an alternative to a site like pinvoke.net?

  • What's the best way to set cursor/caret position?

    If I'm inserting content into a textarea that TinyMCE has co-opted, what's the best way to set the position of the cursor/caret? I'm using tinyMCE.execCommand("mceInsertRawHTML", false, content); to insert the content, and I'd like set the cursor position to the end of the content. Both document.selection and myField.selectionStart won't work for this, and I feel as though this is going to be supported by TinyMCE (through something I can't find on their forum) or it's going to be a really ugly hack. Later: It gets better; I just figured out that, when you load TinyMCE in WordPress, it loads the entire editor in an embedded iframe. Later (2): I can use document.getElementById('content_ifr').contentDocument.getSelection(); to get the selection as a string, but not a Selection Object that I can use getRangeAt(0) on. Making progress little by little.

  • Copy an array backwards? Array.Copy?

    I have a List<T> that I want to be able to copy to an array backwards, meaning start from List.Count and copy maybe 5 items starting at the end of the list and working its way backwards. I could do this with a simple reverse for loop; however there is probably a faster/more efficient way of doing this so I thought I should ask. Can I use Array.Copy somehow? Originally I was using a Queue as that pops it off in the correct order I need, but I now need to pop off multiple items at once into an array and I thought a list would be faster.

    What is the generic algorithm or process that is commonly used to dynamically render portions of a scrolling area? For example, in Google Maps, when the user scrolls past the bounds of the currently rendered area, a grey checkerboard pattern is displayed within the not-yet-rendered portions while the application loads and renders those areas. I'm looking specifically for the approach, or the mathematics, related to filling a graphics area in chunks based on what has just come into view. If possible, I'm looking for anything relevant to the GDI+ process of doing so.

  • How to define RequestMapping prioritization

    I have a situation where I need the following RequestMapping: @RequestMapping(value={"/{section}"}) ...method implementation here... @RequestMapping(value={"/support"}) ...method implementation here... There is an obvious conflict. My hope was that Spring would resolve this automatically and map /support to the second method, and everything else to the first, but it instead maps /support to the first method. How can I tell Spring to allow an explicit RequestMapping to override a RequestMapping with a PathVariable in the same place? (Edit - this is simplified, I know that having those two RequestMapping alone wouldn't make much sense)
