  Hi, I want to setup a client server environment. I have three systems one with Solaris and the other two with windows. I want to install all the database and other software on the Server and enable the client systems a limited access to the system resources. Can anyone help me how to setup this and also the hardware requirements to setup such an environment. Your replies will be mostly appreciable and helpful to others who has similar thoughts or requirements. As we have more programmatical knowledge and less networking knowledge ,please explain in detail Please provide any vedio tutorials links or documents which will be helpfull in this regard. • Apache2 Startup warning: NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts

  When my Ubuntu Apache server (apache2) starts up I get a warning message that reads: [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts however, the web server is working fine... could anyone explain what I might have wrong in my site's configuration to make it give me this warning? the config file in question (located in /etc/apache2/sites-available) reads like this (details removed for brevity) <VirtualHost *> <Location /mysite> # config details here... </Location> # use the following for authorization <LocationMatch "/mysite/login"> AuthType Basic AuthName "My Site" AuthUserFile /etc/sitepasswords/passwd Require valid-user </LocationMatch> </VirtualHost> Could the fact that I'm using <Location> be a part of the problem?

• 404 Error Behavior on Godaddy

  My goDaddy account for hosting and on that host i have multiple domains. goDaddy offers me only one 404 redirect for all of my domains: domain1.com/gadfgsdf (nonexistent link) is redirected to domain1.com domain2.com/gadf (nonexistent link) is redirected to domain1.com domain.com/sagsdg (nonexistent link) is redirected to domain1.com I need for one of my domains to make the redirect on the same domain: domain4.com/gsdhgfhf (nonexistent link) to be redirected to domain4.com I am on Windows and i am using Wordpress on all of my domains. I looked for the web.config file but didn't find it. I new at this and i would really appreciate it if you can explain more detailed. Thanks

• Hot deploying with Tomcat Manager fails because file already exists

  Tomcat beginner question that I hope will help many. Could someone explain how TomCat hot deploy is supposed to work. We have a currently deployed 'TomCatTest', and we want to fix a small bug in 'TomCatTest' with no downtime for users. We are using the Tomcat Manager console, and just trying to upload a file there. • Remote Desktop Connection - Connection Failed

  Let me explain the problem. My system is connected to a network and 'was' having XP installed in it. Recently i formatted the system and installed windows server 2003 and added the machine to the network. Everything is working fine like mapping the network drives, pinging the machines etc. But i've the following problems. I'm not able to do a remote desktop connection to another system in the network. Some systems in the network is able to do a remote desktop to my machine. But not all. If i host any web service in my system i'm not able to connect it from any other machine in the network. I've already configured the Remote Desktop to accept connections. Any ideas? NLV

  How does Subnetting Work, and How do you do it by hand or in your head? Can someone explain both conceptually and with several examples? Serverfault gets lots of subnetting homework questions, so we could use an answer to point them to on serverfault itself. If I have a network, how do I figure out how to split it up? If I am given a netmask, how do I know what the network Range is for it? Sometimes there is a slash followed by a number, what is that number? Sometimes there is a subnet mask, but also a wildcard mask, they seem like the same thing but they are different? Someone mentioned something about knowing binary for this? Not looking for links to other sites (unless maybe you have one post with a bunch of good ones). I already know how to subnet, I just thought it would be nice if serverfault had a generic subnetting answer.

• How would I reset a usb hub multiplier driver?

  I have a usb port which connects a little man usb hub I got for Christmas. It worked fine to begin with however now it works on any computer other than my own. When I plug the man in it lights up and when I plug things into the man it says they have malfunctioned but when I plug them straight into tha port it's fine. Is there somesort of driver that needs to be refreshed? I have no idea how these work so please explain! I use windows 7 32bit.

• Cannot run setups from a vboxsvr mapped network drive on Windows within VirtualBox

  I'm trying to run an application setup by double-clicking the setup.exe from within Windows Explorer. The file is located on a mapped network drive, and I'm using Windows 7. This results in the following error message: The specified path does not exist. Check the path, and then try again. The workaround I found is to copy the installer to the main hard drive (c:) and run it from there; however, this is rather inconvenient. I have the impression that the problem only occurs with installers, as everything seemed to work fine with regular exe's. Is there anyone who can explain this odd behavior? Update: After some extended tests I noticed that the problem only occurs with a mapped drive of VirtualBox's "shared folders" (cf. vboxsvr; VirtualBox v3.1.4). Mapping an SMB drive works fine. Update: The same problem occurs on Windows Vista.

  Hello, I just bought an HTC Touch Pro2. I previously have used a MotoQ. On the Q, I managed to write XML code to change my color scheme (not just the bars, but the background color and font colors.) I cannot seem to find how to do this on the HTC. I will explain: I am legally blind and can only see my phone if the colors are reversed i.e. I need the background of all menus and such to be black and the font to be white. Can anyone help me? I am a desperate woman!!!!

Things like $mydomain appear to be added at runtime by the script. This seems to work (emails come from [email protected]) but I am weary of using values for parameters I don't understand.

  I have production DB server (RHEL 5.1) with LSI Megaraid driver loaded during setup via DUD (Driver Upd Diskett). Now I'd like to update kernel and other packeges to 5.4 version. I also downloaded new LSI SCSI driver (megasr-13.11.0922.2009-1-rhel50-u4-all.img ). Could you explain the necessary steps to make this driver visible on boot for new kernel (lets assume, that I've already update kernel to 5.4)? I read the article on Redhat - "How do I add a driver to the initrd.img". Does it contain all the steps I need? Thanks in advance!

• DNSCurve vs DNSSEC

  Can someone informed, please give a lengthy reply about the differences and advantages/disadvantages of both approaches? I am not a DNS expert, not a programmer. I have a decent basic understanding of DNS, and enough knowledge to understand how things like the kaminsky bug work. From what I understand, DNSCurve has stronger encryption, is far simpler to setup, and an altogether better solution. DNSSEC is needlessly complicated and uses breakable encryption, however it provides end to end security, something DNSCurve does not. However, many of the articles I have read have seemed to indicate that end to end security is of little use or makes no difference. So which is true? Which is the better solution, or what are the disadvantages/advantages of each? edit: I would appreciate if someone could explain what is gained by encrypting the message contents, when the goal is authentication rather than confidentiality.   Hi, I'm designing a datawarehouse solution and I'm a newbie in disk configuration issues, let me explain you. Our storage is spread over 6 storage enlosures having each of them 5 raid-1 disk arrays, and having 2 LUNS defined per each disk array, which makes a total 48 LUNS (this is following Microsoft fast track recommendations for datawarehouse architectures). I would like to partition my data, on other projects I have worked before, we always followed a 1 partition - 1 filegroup rule. On the microsoft fast track recomendations it is advised to create a filegroup and then for that filegroup a data file per each lun... but I pretend to have a week level partitioning... if I apply that rule I think that I'll get too many files and a complex layout. I'm thinking of just creating just one filegroup (with the 48 lun data files), but still create the partitions since I want to keep soem of the benefits of partitions like partition switching... Is this scenario not recommended? What would you suggest?

  I had been practicing ASP on my local machine.. I just wanted to change the TCP port address to 8080 and that is what I did, since then the URL "http://localhost/" is showing PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED, and technical reason being shown is : "You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed." I tried to change back the TCP port address to 80, (which is default) but its not making any difference. What should I do now, to make localhost to work as before ? When I create a virtual directory for the same path "C:/InetPub/wwwroot" then it works but with this URL "http://localhost/virualname/filename.asp" .. where as "http://localhost/filename.asp" throws error, as mentioned above. Can you please explain me what is this consequence is?? thank you :) Details: IIS verion is 7, OS XP,

• Web server behind MikroTik and dynamic dns

  I recently purchased a MikroTik router, it works great! However, I haven't been able to make my web server work from outside my lan I'll explain better: I have two domains in my disposal, before I switched to Mikrotik, the were working perfectly and all my websites were online. Since I changed the router, every time I try to access my websites from outside my lan, my websites can't be found. I have my websites domains associated with a dynamic dns provider, I managed to create a port forwarding rule to redirect all my incoming traffic from port 80 to my web server, and it works, but only when I'm connected to my MikroTik router. Is there something else I have to do? PD: I also created a static dns rule in my router with my domains to associate it to my webserver (which is behind my router) PD2: All I want is to redirect requests from outside to my webserver...

I've edited my VirtualHost to include the following vaiations: (I've tried both RequestHeader and Header, add and set in all of these cases) RequestHeader set X-test_url "Test" or <Directory /> RequestHeader set X-test_url "Test" </Directory> or <Location ~ "/*" > RequestHeader set X-test_url "Test" </Location> It's hard to explain how I've gotten to this point, but I have to get this done in Apache. • OSX pdf-kit vs Linux poppler or pdf/x

  I keep reading and hearing that the reason that there is no good pdf editing software for Linux is that the libraries are not as well developed. That is why there is no equivalent for Skim or Preview in Linux. I had a look a the pdf-kit documentation and the poppler documentation and they looked very similar to my admittedly non-technical view. Could someone explain to me why the OSX libraries (eg) are so much easier to write projects like Skim in than the linux ones. I'm not sure if the same applies to OSX projects to NVAlt, but it seems to be a common theme - I'd just like to understand what is behind the thesis that OSX is easier to code these projects in, and what would be involved in changing it. (I'm not disputing the value of Okular or Evince and the like, just noting that they don't have the richness of functionality of Skim, Preview or even things like Goodreader on the Ipad).

• Windows 7 Reading Proper Disk Usage Statistics on Mounted Volumes

  I'm running windows 7 with 2 x 1.5 TBYTE Drives. The second internal drive is setup as a mounted volume as C:\Archives Clicking computer icon in windows explorer, it only shows capacity stats for C: and Not C:\Archives Also, the usage stats that do show for C: show to be 100% capacity red - yet the system runs fine. No warnings. Can someone explain this? I do have a lot of stuff on the c: drive, but I'm sure its not 1.5 TB worth and C:\Archives hardly has anything it. Thanks! Troy

• SketchUp: Weird regions in sketch

  I'm using SketchUp 8.0.15158. My sketch has weird regions/lines in it that I can't explain or get rid of. I've redrawn almost the whole thing and the lines persist! See here, highlighted in yellow: These dotted lines only show up when I triple-click the back face to select the whole object. Here's what the sketch looks like without selections: What are these lines and how can I get rid of them? They are causing weird issues that I can't seem to get around.

• Error while installing Xtrabackup

  I'd like to install XtraBackup (rpm -i percona-xtrabackup-2.1.9-744.rhel6.x86_64.rpm). During the rpm install it told me that it misses a dependency. error: Failed dependencies: perl(DBD::mysql) is needed by percona-xtrabackup-2.1.9-744.rhel6.x86_64 perl(Time::HiRes) is needed by percona-xtrabackup-2.1.9-744.rhel6.x86_64 Then I run yum install perl-Time-HiRes, and yum install perl-DBD-MySQL. For install perl-TImes-Hires has successful but not for perl-DBD-MySQL. Error: file /usr/share/mysql/ukrainian/errmsg.sys from install of mysql-libs-5.1.73-3.el6_5.x86_64 conflicts with file from package MySQL-server-5.6.10-1.el6.x86_64. I also had try to install : yum install cpan cpan DBI cpan DBD::mysql But still get the same error. So I hope someone can explain me what the right fix is, to get XtraBackup running on MySQL.

  I've got this kind of situation: I've got windows 2003 server with dns server on same machine. It is binded to adress for ex. siteA.com Now i want to add to this machine website which name will be siteB.com. I created a new website on IIS6 server with name siteB.com but I dont know how to set up a dns server. My primary DNS administrator created me an alias for my server and he describe it to me like this: 'site siteB.com is an aliase for siteA.com' and then he said that I have to configure my DNS server by my own. I've tried to add new alias in my existing DNS zone (for siteA.com) but it's binding FQDN name like this: siteB.SiteA.com which is wrong as I supose. Can anybody explain me how can I bind this 2 webiste to my server?

  OK - so we've agreed to host a python site, got the files and not sure where to go next. We use a dedicated server and manage it mainly with plesk which has a tick box for a python support but not sure what this does. This is all the info i have from previous hosts; 10,000 ft overview The site is intended to run on a Linux host, specifically Ubuntu Server (tho it should be fine on most distros). The web framework is CherryPy ( http://cherrypy.org/ ), which is a Python based framework. There is no database as such, instead the data is kept in JS files and loaded by the front end. nicholasbarker.com.c6a4facf0192/www/js/video_content_items.js is a prime example of this. The main site templates are in nicholasbarker.com.c6a4facf0192/www/templates/ They are Cheetah templates ( http://www.cheetahtemplate.org/ ) and here's the file structure i've been sent - Could some explain to me how i'd go about uploading and running this site...
