  • How to test an iPhone application update?

    - by sfkaos
    I already have an iPhone application (version 1.0) available in the App Store and am ready to submit a newer version (version 1.1). How do I test the new upgrade to make sure that the current sqlite database and property list files on the earlier version do not get deleted/overwritten etc? The new version assumes the old data in both the sqlite database and property lists remain. Or better yet, is there a resource I can use to walk me through what to watch for when developing an application update?

  • How to make an unit test always pass?

    - by brain_damage
    Let's assume someone has to write a solution to a problem and I have to test his solution with some tests. Is it possible (maybe with reflections or something) his program to pass all my tests, but to have nothing in common with the real solution to the problem?

  • Speed test (open source)

    - by Nimbuz
    Are there any good (preferably PHP) open source scripts that I use to measure download/upload speeds? Something like speedtest.net but without Flash. Basically, I want to put up a 'broadband speed test' website. I found this but is there anything better already available? Thanks!

  • axis2 web service behave differently when tested with web service client or with local test class

    - by Stefano
    Hello I need to update a facade to some web service proxy classes to a third party web service, and expose them as a service. This for two reason : to maintain the same interface for all application that need to use the system : actually its migrating and there are a few differences in the third party ws (method names); and to expose a simplified interface. The third party has provided me with a manual and some pregenerated proxy classes to their service (the java file says generated with axis2 1,4) . I've used netbeans 6.8 and the axis2 plugin to create an axis2 service . This service contains the proxy classes and the facade class which instantiate the web service proxy and calls its method; the facade class is exposed as service. I've used axis2 1.4 (at beginnig and later 1.5 ) and tomcat 6.0. The first test i did was to call the facede methods from inside the project itself and it worked. Then i've created a new project with a jax-ws web service client to call my class deployed on axis2. At this point has happened two strange thing : In the axis2 services page has appeared the third party proxy class as if it were a new service (if i try to get the wsdl axis raises an error ). eg. the proxy interface is named WebServiceAPI (_stub is the concrete class) and , after the first call to my service , i find a new "WebServicesAPI1272968932531_1" service inside axis . The call obvoiusly fail i've began to sniff soap messages with wireshark and i've found they differs when using proxy classes direclty from my facade test class by the messages created after being deployed on axis. i've noticed they differs for the presence of the soap header in the failing message. any help would be greatly appreciated : maybe i messed up something, there might be some incompatibilities or version mistakes? below i've added the signature of the third party proxy, its impementation and the different soap messages: /* * WebServicesAPI.java * This file was auto-generated from WSDL * by the Apache Axis2 version: 1.4 Built on : Apr 26, 2008 (06:24:30 EDT) */ package com.ibm.eci.wsapi; • TestContext is null

    - by Budda
    Pretty simple test: [TestClass] public class MyTestClass { private TestContext _testContext; protected TestContext TestContext { get { return _testContext; } set { _testContext = value; } } [TestMethod] [HostType("ASP.NET")] [UrlToTest("http://localhost/MyPage.aspx")] public void TestMyPage() { Assert.IsNotNull(TestContext); } } Fails... Now I am using VS2008 Development edition. Is there any possibility to fix this? Or I need to have a Test (or Team Suite) edition? Thanks. P.S. Access to TestContext object is required to have access to it's RequestedPage property

  • How can I condense stand-alone characters in Perl?

    - by brydgesk
    I'm trying to identify and condense single (uppercase) characters in a string. For example: "test A B test" - "test AB test" "test A B C test" - "test ABC test" "test A B test C D E test" - "test AB test CDE test" I have it working for single occurrences (as in the first above example), but cannot figure out how to chain it for multiple occurrences. $str =~ s/ ([A-Z]) ([A-Z]) / \1\2 /g; I'll probably feel stupid when I see the solution, but I'm prepared for that. Thanks in advance.

  • Html string replace a span's class doesn't work in IE?

    - by SeanJA
    Someone tried to recreate smarty in js: // actually from a template file, not hardcoded in the javascript html = '<span class="{test}">yay</span>'; html = change(html, 'test', 'foo bar'); function change(html, key, value){ html = html.replace('{'+key+'}',value); html = html.replace('%7B'+key+'%7D',value); return html; } element.innerHTML = html; In FF this works fine (as expected): yay In IE 7/8 and probably 6... it gives me this: <span class="foo" bar="">yay</span> Why does it create the extra attribute instead of doing what I expected it to do?

  • Zend_Test: No default module defined for this application

    - by jiewmeng
    UPDATE 23 Dec I had the problem where Zend Framework complains about "No default module defined for this application". I didn't use Modules and the main app works fine. I finally solved the problem with the help from weierophinney.net Your bootstrap needs to minimally set the controller directory -- do a call to $this->frontController->addControllerDirectory(...) in your appBootstrap() method. I didn't in my example, as my Initialization plugin does that sort of thing for me. The problem is solved by adding the below to setUp() $this->getFrontController()->setControllerDirectory(APPLICATION_PATH . '/controllers'); But now, I have afew other questions: 1. Why does that value not get initialized by application.ini? In application.ini, I have [production] resources.frontController.controllerDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/controllers" [testing : production] // didn't change anything regarding modules nor controllers 2. I tried setting the controllerDirectory in bootstrap.php of my unit test, but it does not work $front = Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance(); $front->setControllerDirectory(APPLICATION_PATH . '/controllers'); The only way that works is using setUp(). Why is that? END UPDATE 23 Dec I am getting the above error when unit testing my controller plugins. I am not using any modules. in my bootstrap.php for unit testing, I even tried adding $front = Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance(); $front->setDefaultModule('default'); But it still does not work. • How to plan for whitebox testing

    - by Draco
    I'm relatively new to the world of WhiteBox Testing and need help designing a test plan for 1 of the projects that i'm currently working on. At the moment i'm just scouting around looking for testable pieces of code and then writing some unit tests for that. I somehow feel that is by far not the way it should be done. Please could you give me advice as to how best prepare myself for testing this project? Any tools or test plan templates that I could use? THe language being used is C++ if it'll make difference.

  • Automated testing of a website for IE7 javascript errors?

    - by Andreas Bonini
    This week I decided to add a new element to a javascript array by copying a similar one from a previous line; unfortunately I forgot to remove the comma so the end result was something like var a = [1, 2, 3,]. The code went live late Friday afternoon just before everyone left for the week-end, and it completely broke everything in Internet Explorer 7 (and lower I assume) since it's such a great browser. Since there was no one to read emails (week-end) it went unnoticed for quite a while, and I really don't want something like this to happen again (especially in my code).. This is not the first of weird IE7 problems; I was wondering if there was a way to automatically test key pages looking for javascript or css errors, or really anything that IE8 would output in its new console in development tools. If there isn't, what do you usually do? You test the website after every change with all the browsers you support? (Something I'll do from now, at least for IE, if there is no way to run automated tests)

  • How to make @BeforeClass run prior Spring TestContext loads up ?

    - by lisak
    Hey, it should be piece of cake for programmers using testNG. I have this scenario @ContextConfiguration(locations={"customer-form-portlet.xml", "classpath:META-INF2/base-spring.xml" }) public class BaseTestCase extends AbstractTestNGSpringContextTests { ... @BeforeClass public void setUpClass() throws Exception { But I'd need the spring context to be load up after @BeforeClass. I I came up with overriding AbstractTestNGSpringContextTests methods : @BeforeClass(alwaysRun = true) protected void springTestContextBeforeTestClass() throws Exception { this.testContextManager.beforeTestClass(); } @BeforeClass(alwaysRun = true, dependsOnMethods = "springTestContextBeforeTestClass") protected void springTestContextPrepareTestInstance() throws Exception { this.testContextManager.prepareTestInstance(this); } and make my method @BeforeClass(alwaysRun = true, dependsOnMethods = "setUpClass") protected void springTestContextPrepareTestClass() throws Exception { } But then I get : Caused by: org.testng.TestNGException: org.springframework.test.context.testng.AbstractTestNGSpringContextTests.springTestContextPrepareTestInstance() is not allowed to depend on protected void org.springframework.test.context.testng.AbstractTestNGSpringContextTests.springTestContextBeforeTestClass() throws java.lang.Exception Make it public also doesn't help. Could please anybody mention here if it can be done in a working manner :-) I know that I could load the testContext manually, but that wouldn't be so fancy. It works like this, but TestContextManager is not visible so I can't call prepareTestInstance() method on it : @Override @BeforeClass(alwaysRun = true, dependsOnMethods = "setUpClass") public void springTestContextPrepareTestInstance() throws Exception { }

  • Detect IE setting: check for newer versions of stored pages "never"

    - by xx
    I understand there isn't a way to interrogate a users IE settings directly due to security reasons, but is there a way to derive this answer with some other mechanism? I would like to stop a user from using my site if the setting "Check for newer versions of stored pages" is set to "Never". Any suggestions? Is there a way I could test for this using javascript? An example of what I am trying to accomplish is this: While it is not possible to check IE settings to see if you are running a popup blocker, that is a way to "test" for a popup blocker via javascript. I am looking for something similiar but for the cache setting, not the popup blocker.

  • Ensure Future Browser Compatibility - SharePoint Branding

    - by KunaalKapoor
    HTML and Future Internet Explorer Compatibility with SharePointAs new versions of Internet Explorer are released, the way HTML is rendered by the browser could change over time. To address the possibility of changes, Microsoft uses the X-UA-Compatible META tag that targets HTML markup to a specific version of Internet Explorer. The default SharePoint 2010 master pages are set to force current and future versions of Internet Explorer to render HTML in Internet Explorer 8 mode like the following markup:<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatibile" content="IE=IE8" />The Adventure Works Travel HTML includes the META tag to help ensure future Internet Explorer versions will display the SharePoint HTML properly.For more information about the Internet Explorer Standards Mode, see META Tags and Locking in Future Compatibility.

  • Form with target="_blank" will produce empty POST data in IE6

    - by Seeker
    I have an iframe containing a form. I want the form to point to a new window when the user submits it. Basically, the following code should do the trick: <?php var_dump($_POST); ?> <form method="post" action="test_post_to_blank.php" target="_blank"> <input type="text" name="test" value="test" /> <input type="submit" /> </form> The problem is that in IE6 a new window is opened with empty POST data. Is there any other way I can get the job done? This does not occur in newer versions of IE. Thanks in advance ;).

  • Expiring an IE session using WatiN

    - by Steve Wilkes
    I'm trying to write an acceptance test using WatiN which checks that a user is redirected to the login page if they navigate to a page after their session times out. I'm using WatiN's IE class for the browser, and trying the following: // 1. Login // 2. Do this: Browser.ClearCookies(); Browser.ClearCache(); // 3. Navigate to a different page But the user is always still logged in. Other info: I'm running the test through the NUnit GUI running as an administrator It's an ASP.NET MVC 3 site, using forms authentication and in-process session state I'm using IE9. If I manually clear all cookies in Chrome, the user is logged out If I manually clear all cookies in IE the user stays logged in If I call Browser.Eval("alert(document.cookie)"); in IE it alerts an empty string Given the above, I'm assuming this is a quirk with IE; any ideas how I can work around it?

  • Difference in displaying inner div between IE and Chrome

    - by Gaara
    I have this code that has one "outerDIV" that contains an "innerDIV". On chrome the "innerDIV" size is 491px, whereas on IE it is 425px (same as outerDIV). Hence, on Chrome I can see the first two children of "innerdiv": "My test string #1" and "test2". But for IE I can only see the first child. I am not quite sure what the "right" behavior should be, as firefox does the same as IE. However I would like to have IE do the same as Chrome. I have been experimenting with some css styles (mainly overflow and display), but still can't make it right: IE will expand its height instead of its width to make the elements fit. Can you guys help me figure out a way to change the css so that IE will wraps the div elements inline? As a restriction though, I cannot change the width on the HTML. As a benefit, I am using a css that only loads for IE to patch these kind of IE inconsistencies. The same css will NOT load for chrome, so I don't need to worry about messing with chrome when changing the IE CSS. Thanks in advance! <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> <!-- body { font-family: helvetica; } .myContainer { overflow: hidden; border: 1px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, .5); font-size: 14pt; height: 49px; line-height: 49px; overflow: hidden; display: block; } .myContainer > DIV { float: left; white-space: nowrap; display: block; } .myContainer .item:first-child { padding-left: 10px; } .myContainer .item { float: left; padding-right: 32px; } --> </style> </head> <body> <div id="outerDIV" class="myContainer" style="display: block; width: 425px;"> <div id="innerDIV"> <div class="item"> --------My test string #1-------- </div> <div class="item"> ------test2------- </div> <div class="item"> test </div> </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • codility challenge, test case OK , Evaluation report Wrong Answer

    - by Hussein Fawzy
    the aluminium 2014 gives me wrong answer [3 , 9 , -6 , 7 ,-3 , 9 , -6 , -10] got 25 expected 28 but when i repeated the challenge with the same code and make case test it gives me the correct answer Your test case [3, 9, -6, 7, -3, 9, -6, -10] : NO RUNTIME ERRORS (returned value: 28) what is the wrong with it ??? the challenge :- A non-empty zero-indexed array A consisting of N integers is given. A pair of integers (P, Q), such that 0 = P = Q < N, is called a slice of array A. The sum of a slice (P, Q) is the total of A[P] + A[P+1] + ... + A[Q]. The maximum sum is the maximum sum of any slice of A. For example, consider array A such that: A[0] = 3 A[1] = 2 A[2] = -6 A[3] = 3 A[4] = 1 For example (0, 1) is a slice of A that has sum A[0] + A[1] = 5. This is the maximum sum of A. You can perform a single swap operation in array A. This operation takes two indices I and J, such that 0 = I = J < N, and exchanges the values of A[I] and A[J]. To goal is to find the maximum sum you can achieve after performing a single swap. For example, after swapping elements 2 and 4, you will get the following array A: A[0] = 3 A[1] = 2 A[2] = 1 A[3] = 3 A[4] = -6 After that, (0, 3) is a slice of A that has the sum A[0] + A[1] + A[2] + A[3] = 9. This is the maximum sum of A after a single swap. Write a function: class Solution { public int solution(int[] A); } that, given a non-empty zero-indexed array A of N integers, returns the maximum sum of any slice of A after a single swap operation. For example, given: A[0] = 3 A[1] = 2 A[2] = -6 A[3] = 3 A[4] = 1 the function should return 9, as explained above. and my code is :- import java.math.*; class Solution { public int solution(int[] A) { if(A.length == 1) return A[0]; else if (A.length==2) return A[0]+A[1]; else{ int finalMaxSum = A[0]; for (int l=0 ; l<A.length ; l++){ for (int k = l+1 ; k<A.length ; k++ ){ int [] newA = A; int temp = newA[l]; newA [l] = newA[k]; newA[k]=temp; int maxSum = newA[0]; int current_max = newA[0]; for(int i = 1; i < newA.length; i++) { current_max = Math.max(A[i], current_max + newA[i]); maxSum = Math.max(maxSum, current_max); } finalMaxSum = Math.max(finalMaxSum , maxSum); } } return finalMaxSum; } } } i don't know what's the wrong with it ??

  • How to write a test for accounts controller for forms authenticate

    - by Anil Ali
    Trying to figure out how to adequately test my accounts controller. I am having problem testing the successful logon scenario. Issue 1) Am I missing any other tests.(I am testing the model validation attributes separately) Issue 2) Put_ReturnsOverviewRedirectToRouteResultIfLogonSuccessAndNoReturnUrlGiven() and Put_ReturnsRedirectResultIfLogonSuccessAndReturnUrlGiven() test are not passing. I have narrowed it down to the line where i am calling _membership.validateuser(). Even though during my mock setup of the service i am stating that i want to return true whenever validateuser is called, the method call returns false. Here is what I have gotten so far AccountController.cs [HandleError] public class AccountController : Controller { private IMembershipService _membershipService; public AccountController() : this(null) { } public AccountController(IMembershipService membershipService) { _membershipService = membershipService ?? new AccountMembershipService(); } [HttpGet] public ActionResult LogOn() { return View(); } [HttpPost] public ActionResult LogOn(LogOnModel model, string returnUrl) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { if (_membershipService.ValidateUser(model.UserName,model.Password)) { if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(returnUrl)) { return Redirect(returnUrl); } return RedirectToAction("Index", "Overview"); } ModelState.AddModelError("*", "The user name or password provided is incorrect."); } return View(model); } } AccountServices.cs public interface IMembershipService { bool ValidateUser(string userName, string password); } public class AccountMembershipService : IMembershipService { public bool ValidateUser(string userName, string password) { throw new System.NotImplementedException(); } } AccountControllerFacts.cs public class AccountControllerFacts { public static AccountController GetAccountControllerForLogonSuccess() { var membershipServiceStub = MockRepository.GenerateStub<IMembershipService>(); var controller = new AccountController(membershipServiceStub); membershipServiceStub .Stub(x => x.ValidateUser("someuser", "somepass")) .Return(true); return controller; } public static AccountController GetAccountControllerForLogonFailure() { var membershipServiceStub = MockRepository.GenerateStub<IMembershipService>(); var controller = new AccountController(membershipServiceStub); membershipServiceStub .Stub(x => x.ValidateUser("someuser", "somepass")) .Return(false); return controller; } public class LogOn { [Fact] public void Get_ReturnsViewResultWithDefaultViewName() { // Arrange var controller = GetAccountControllerForLogonSuccess(); // Act var result = controller.LogOn(); // Assert Assert.IsType<ViewResult>(result); Assert.Empty(((ViewResult)result).ViewName); } [Fact] public void Put_ReturnsOverviewRedirectToRouteResultIfLogonSuccessAndNoReturnUrlGiven() { // Arrange var controller = GetAccountControllerForLogonSuccess(); var user = new LogOnModel(); // Act var result = controller.LogOn(user, null); var redirectresult = (RedirectToRouteResult) result; // Assert Assert.IsType<RedirectToRouteResult>(result); Assert.Equal("Overview", redirectresult.RouteValues["controller"]); Assert.Equal("Index", redirectresult.RouteValues["action"]); } [Fact] public void Put_ReturnsRedirectResultIfLogonSuccessAndReturnUrlGiven() { // Arrange var controller = GetAccountControllerForLogonSuccess(); var user = new LogOnModel(); // Act var result = controller.LogOn(user, "someurl"); var redirectResult = (RedirectResult) result; // Assert Assert.IsType<RedirectResult>(result); Assert.Equal("someurl", redirectResult.Url); } [Fact] public void Put_ReturnsViewIfInvalidModelState() { // Arrange var controller = GetAccountControllerForLogonFailure(); var user = new LogOnModel(); controller.ModelState.AddModelError("*","Invalid model state."); // Act var result = controller.LogOn(user, "someurl"); var viewResult = (ViewResult) result; // Assert Assert.IsType<ViewResult>(result); Assert.Empty(viewResult.ViewName); Assert.Same(user,viewResult.ViewData.Model); } [Fact] public void Put_ReturnsViewIfLogonFailed() { // Arrange var controller = GetAccountControllerForLogonFailure(); var user = new LogOnModel(); // Act var result = controller.LogOn(user, "someurl"); var viewResult = (ViewResult) result; // Assert Assert.IsType<ViewResult>(result); Assert.Empty(viewResult.ViewName); Assert.Same(user,viewResult.ViewData.Model); Assert.Equal(false,viewResult.ViewData.ModelState.IsValid); } } }
