• system crash after declaring global object of the class

  hi, i am very new to c++. i am getting system crash (not compilation error) in doing following: i am declaring global pointer of class. BGiftConfigFile *bgiftConfig; class BGiftConfigFile : public EftBarclaysGiftConfig { } in this class i am reading tags from xml file. it is crashing system when this pointer is used to retrieve value. i am doing coding for verifone terminal. int referenceSetting = bgiftConfig->getreferencesetting(); //system error getreferencesetting() is member fuction of class EftBarclaysGiftConfig i am confused about behavior of pointer in this case. i know i am doing something wrong but couldn't rectify it. When i declare one object of class locally it retrieves the value properly. BGiftConfigFile bgiftConfig1; int referenceSetting = bgiftConfig1->getreferencesetting(); //working But if i declare this object global it also crashes the system. i need to fetch values at different location in my code so i forced to use someting global. please suggest me how to rectify this problem.

  Hi I created a WCF service which is hosted in windows service. I created a proxy using svcutil “svcutil.exe http://localhost:8000/ServiceModelSamples/FreeServiceWorld?wsdl” It generated an output.config file and proxy class. The output.config has the following element <client> <endpoint address="http://localhost:8000/ServiceModelSamples/FreeServiceWorld" binding="wsHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="WSHttpBinding_IWeather" contract="IWeather" name="WSHttpBinding_IWeather"> <identity> <servicePrincipalName value="host/D471DTRV.ustr.com" /> </identity> </endpoint> </client> I created a website (as client) and added a new C# file (MyFile.cs) into it. I copied the contents of the proxy class into MyFile.cs. [The output.config is not copied to the web site] In the code behnid of aspx, I am using the following code WeatherClient client= new WeatherClient("WSHttpBinding_IWeather"); It throws an exception as “Could not find endpoint element with name 'WSHttpBinding_IWeather' and contract 'IWeather' in the ServiceModel client configuration section.” Could you please help me to understand the missing link here? • What do you call a generalized (non-GUI-related) "Model-View-Controller" architecture?

  I am currently refactoring code that coordinates multiple hardware components for data acquisition, and feeling a bit like I'm recreating the wheel. In particular, an MVC-like pattern seems to be emerging. Except, this has nothing to do with a GUI and I'm worried that I'm forcing this particular pattern where another might be more appropriate. Here's my scenario: Individual hardware "component" classes obey interface contracts for each hardware type. Previously, component instances were orchestrated by a single monolithic InstrumentController class, which relied heavily on configuration + branching logic for executing a specific acquisition sequence. After an iteration, I have a separate controller for each component, with these controllers all managed by a small InstrumentControllerBase (or its derivatives). The composite system will receive "input" either programmatically or via inter-hardware component triggering - in either case these interactions are routed to, and handled by, the appropriate controller. So, I have something that feels MVC-esque, but I don't know if that's because I'm forcing the point. With little direct MVC experience in application development, it's hard to know if I'm just trying to make my scenario fit MVC, where another pattern might be a good alternative or complimentary. My problem is, search results and wiki documentation of these family of patterns seems to immediately drop me into GUI-specific discussions. I understand "M means Model data and the V means View" - but do you call the superset pattern? Component-Commander-Controller? Whence can I exhume examples exemplary?

• iMX31 dependencies?

  Dear all I am beginner in an silverlight application. So at first i looked on demo application which is provided by wince 6.0 r3 at location WINCE600\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DEMOS\XAMLPERF - this contains c++ code and WINCE600\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\FILES\XAMLPERF - this contains xaml file with the images Now before running this application in an emulator. I at first proceeded with the following: I have first taken my workspace went to catalog item and added "Silverlight for Windows Embedded" from the drop down menu of an catalog item Then right clicked on solution explorer and choosed on properties and under configuration in drop down menu i have selected environment variables where i have added new variable called "sysgen_samplexamlperf" and assigned value as 1 for that variable. Now after rebuiding the application, i have dumped the image into emulator and i found that at desktop of device emulator i can see the exe file to which i run and i can see the application is working fine with 3d effects. Now same thing i proceeded in iMX31 hardware and i was not able to see the application running in a proper manner as it was performing in an emulator. So now what i feel is that there be any dependency when we run the application on hardware. So what can be the dependency? Also in this location "WINCE600\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\FILES\XAMLPERF" the images are in png format. So is there any dependency with an image format? Thanks and regards

  have a settings dialog/activity where I allow the user to change the locale. Within that activity i call Resources res = ctx.getResources(); // Change locale settings on the device DisplayMetrics dm = res.getDisplayMetrics(); android.content.res.Configuration conf = res.getConfiguration(); conf.locale = new Locale(language_code.toLowerCase(), coutry_code.toUpperCase()); res.updateConfiguration(conf, dm); and call onChanged() for my settings ListView... everything changes perfectly. Very nice. Then I hit the back button to go back to the previous activity thinking everything should be switched; nope. Everything is still in the previous locale. So I added the above code in the onResume() of the activity thinking that would do it; nope. Also, when I click the menu button of this activity again (not first time) I do not get called in onCreateOptionsMenu() it just displays the previous menu. My question is what is the correct way to force existing activities to reload using the new local?

• Custom titlebar - system titlebar being shown for a brief moment?

  Hi, I've got a custom layout I want to use as the titlebar of my android app. The technique found (linked at the bottom) works, but the system titlebar is displayed before onCreate() is called. • Python-based password tracker (or dictionary)

  Hello: Where we work we need to remember about 10 long passwords which need to change every so often. I would like to create a utility which can potentially save these passwords in an encrypted file so that we can keep track of them. I can think of some sort of dictionary passwd = {'host1':'pass1', 'host2':'pass2'}, etc, but I don't know what to do about encryption (absolutely zero experience in the topic). So, my question is really two questions: Is there a Linux-based utility which lets you do that? If you were to program it in Python, how would you go about it? A perk of approach two, would be for the software to update the ssh public keys after the password has been changed (you know the pain of updating ~15 tokens once you change your password). As it can be expected, I have zero control over the actual network configuration and the management of scp keys. I can only hope to provide a simple utility to me an my very few coworkers so that, if we need to, we can retrieve a password on demand. Cheers.

• IIS 6.0 Rewrite rules for Wordpress (Forward slash not working and other things)

  Hi, I am using Wordpress 3.0.4 on IIS 6.0 and Windows Server 2003, hosted by a company. I was having lots of issues using permalinks. I have fixed most, but now I have an issue with a forward-slash not being added to the address. This would be fine on most websites, but not on IIS for some reason. Specifically, if I go to "mysite.com/wp-admin" I can log-in and get to the dashboard, but as soon as I click anything there i am redirected to a broken link. For example: "mysite.com/post-new.php". If I add the slash at the end it's fine. So I tried to have a rewrite rule to automatically add the slash to such address: RewriteRule /wp-admin /wp-admin/ [L] But it still doesn't work.   I used to use SimpleBaseGameActivity for my app and everything was ok, but now I want to add some ads into the app, so I tried to use LayoutGameActivity. But I get the screen completely black and I don't know why. • JSF h:outputStylesheet doesn't work everywhere

  I'm currently learning Icefaces, now I'm trying to integrate a css file via h:OutputStylesheet into my code. I have a main page and a second page. Using outputStylesheet in my main page works well (and then I can also access the css in the second page, which I guess is intended). But when I try to integrate it in my second page it doesn't work at all. The code for both pages is basically identical. main page: <h:head></h:head> <h:body> <!-- this line works --> <h:outputStylesheet library="css" name="style.css" /> <!-- this line is only shown in red if the outputStylesheet from above is there --> <div class="red">This is red color in main page</div> </h:body> second page: <h:head></h:head> <h:body> <!-- this line doesn't work --> <h:outputStylesheet library="css" name="style.css" /> <!-- this line is only shown in red if the outputStylesheet in main page is there --> <div class="red">This is red color in second page</div> </h:body> I've made sure that I have h:body and h:head tags in both files. There's nothing more in the html pages except the standard doctype and xml version declarations. I've tried packing everything into h:forms, but that doesn't change anything. Can anyone explain to me what's going on?

Every element on my page is a draggable div with option to be removed from page if necessary. It is because of element positioning in the code. These divs in the code are before div, which was removed, and their absolute top is changed by -heghtOfRemovedElement Is there any way to prevent other elements from moving up?

• How do I migrate from a basic plaintext password authentication to an OAuth based system?

  Hello, Found out today that Twitter will be discontinuing its basic authentication for its API; the push is now towards OAuth but I don’t have a clue as to how to use it or whether it’s the right path for me. All I want to be able to do is post a tweet linking to the most recently published post when I hit publish. Currently I’m sending the login credentials for my Twitter account as plaintext, which I realise isn’t that secure but as my site is fairly small it isn’t an issue at least for now. • WCF hosting: Can access svc file but cannot go to wsdl link

  Hello, I have a WCF service that is hosted in IIS 7.5. I have two servers, one for test and one for production. The service works fine on test server, but on the production server I have the following error. When I access the address http//..../service.svc I can see the default page that says: You have created a service. To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe tool from the command line with the following syntax: svcutil.exe http://..../service.svc?wsdl This will generate a configuration file and a code file that contains the client class. Add the two files to your client application and use the generated client class to call the Service. But when I click the wsdl link, I cannot go to the wsdl page. It returns me to this default web page without any errors. I am suspecting a network/firewall authorization error but does anybody have an experience like this one? All IIS settings are the same for test and production servers. Thank you, Best Regards.

• where are the frameworks for creating libraries?

  whenever i create a php library (not a framework) i tend to reinvent everything everytime. "where to put configuration options" "which design pattern to use here" "how should all the classes extend each other" and so on... then i think, isn't there a good library framework to use anywhere? it's like a framework for a web application (symfony, cakephp...) but instead of creating a web application, this framework will help coder to create a library, providing all the standard structure and classes (observer pattern, dependency injection etc). i think that will be the next major thing if not available right now. in this way there will be a standard to follow when creating libraries, or else, it's like a djungle when everyone creates their own structure, and a lot of coders just code without thinking of reusability etc. there isn't any framework for creating libraries at the moment? if not, don't u agree with me that this is the way to do it, with a library framework? cause i am really throwing a lot of time (weeks!) just thinking about how to organize things, both in code and file level, when i should just start to code the logic. share your thoughts!

  Hi there I'm facing a rather strange Issue when trying to load data from an XML-Webservice. The webservice allows me to pass separated identifiers within the URL-Request. It is therefore possible for the URL to become rather long (240 characters). If I open said URL in firefox the response arrives as planned, if I execute the following code xmlData remains empty.   Hi everybody) I'm using Unity App Block for my project (version 1.2.0.0). I have a problem with Unity Container BuildUp method which I'm using for my ascx controls. And here the property that should be injected in child control: [Dependency] private IStock Stock { get; set; } So after buildup Stock property is still empty. Resolve method works fine for IStock with the same container and configuration. I've tried buildup with simple test class with only one property IStock and got the same result. So what can be wrong with buildup?

Lets say I got an entity A with attribute aAttrib and a to-many relationship aRelat to another entity B with attribute bAttrib and a to-many relationship bRelat with entity A. Now I am building an interface with two tables one for entity A and another for entity B. The table for entity B has two columns one for bAttrib and one for the relationship aRelat. The aRelat-column should be a NSPopupButtonCell to display multiple aAttrib values. I'd like to set all the bindings in InterfaceBuilder in Table Column Bindings: -- I have two NSArrayController each for one entity: Object Controller Mode:Entity Array Controller Bindings: Parameters Managed Object Context bind to File's Owner -- One Table Cloumn with a PopUpButtonCell: TableCloumnBindings Content bind to Entity A with ControllerKey arrangedObjects; Content Values bind to Entity A with ModelKeyPath aAttrib Selected Object bind to Entity B with ModelKeyPath bRelat I know that this configuration doesn't allow multiple value setting. But I don't know how to do the right one. Getting the following message: HIToolbox: ignoring exception 'Unacceptable type of value for to-many relationship: property = "bRelat"; desired type = NSSet; given type = NSCFString; value = testValue.' that raised inside Carbon event dispatch... Does anyone have any idea?

• MSSQL 2008 - Bit Param Evaluation alters Execution Plan

  I have been working on migrating some of our data from Microsoft SQL Server 2000 to 2008. Among the usual hiccups and whatnot, I’ve run across something strange. Linked below is a SQL query that returns very quickly under 2000, but takes 20 minutes under 2008. I have read quite a bit on upgrading SQL server and went down the usual paths of checking indexes, statistics, etc. before coming to the conclusion that the following statement, found in the WHERE clause, causes the execution plan for the steps that follow this statement to change dramatically: And ( @bOnlyUnmatched = 0 -- offending line Or Not Exists( The SQL statements and execution plans are linked below. A coworker was able to rewrite a portion of the WHERE clause using a CASE statement, which seems to “trick” the optimizer into using a better execution plan. The version with the CASE statement is also contained in the linked archive. I’d like to see if someone has an explanation as to why this is happening and if there may be a more elegant solution than using a CASE statement. While we can work around this specific issue, I’d like to have a broader understanding of what is happening to ensure the rest of the migration is as painless as possible.   Hi Guys I wonder if it's possible to create an extension method which has functionality & behaviour similar to Html.BeginForm(), in that it would generate a complete Html tag, and I could specificy its contents inside <% { & } %> tags.   I've recently started working up a sample project to play with an oData feed coming from a RIA service. I am able to view the feed and the metadata via any web browser, however, if I try to perform certain query operations on the feed I receive "unsupported" exceptions. • Doing some downloading without blocking you app

  Hi guys, I'm working on my first app that's doing a few different web connections at once. My first screen is my Menu. And at the bottom of viewDidLoad of MenuViewController i call a method that gets and parses a .xml file that is located on my webserver. Also at the bottom of viewDidLoad i do FootballScores = [[FootBallScores alloc] init]; and FootballScores makes a connection to a html page which it loads into a string and then parses out data. Now since both of these are getting called at the bottom of viewDidLoad of the class thats is responsible for the main menu(first screen in the app) it means the app is kinda slow to load. What is the right way to do the above? Should i remove the 2 pieces of code from my viewDidLoad and replace with maybe dataGetterOne = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:1.000 target:self selector:@selector(xmlParser) userInfo:nil repeats:NO]; dataGetterTwo = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:2.000 target:self selector:@selector(htmlParser) userInfo:nil repeats:NO]; This would mean that the methods get called later on and the viewDidLoad gets to finish before the i try get the data from the web servers. Making 2 connections to we bservers a second apart to quick? Can the iphone handle having 2 connections open at once? I'm really unsure of anything bad/dangerous I am doing in regards to connections.   Hi, I think that's a rather simple Question but I don't get it the way I want it to. I Want do do a Linear Layout in Android with 3 areas. The Top area should have a fixed height, fill_parent width. The second, below the first, should use all the room available, fill_parent width. The third, below the second, should have fixed height, fill_parent width. Here is what i got: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical" android:gravity="bottom" android:background="#ff63a920"> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/top_bar" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="32dp" > </LinearLayout> <com.google.android.maps.MapView android:id="@+id/mymapView" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:enabled="true" android:clickable="true" /> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/bottombar" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="32dp" > </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> The Problem is, that the mapview in the middle ist too big, so it pushes out the topbar.
