  • Android programming: Authentication and data exchange with Java EE

    I am having a Java application running in a Tomcat server using Spring, Hibernate, etc. and a two web interfaces, one implemented in Tapestry 5 and the other one using Flex with BlazeDS and Spring-BlazeDS. In my first android application I would now like to log in to the server and retrieve some data. I´m wondering how I could achieve this in a secure way. First of all I need to know which technology is the best to retrieve data from the server and how can I restrict the access to users only that have been successfully authenticated. With what I read until now I would try to implement a HTTPServlet on the server and make server calls via HTTP Client. In the servlet I could probably use the HTTPSession to check if the request comes from an authenticated user. And the data I would try to send serialized (JSON). Unfortunately, I´ve never done those things and maybe I´m on the wrong way and there are more comfortable solutions.

    I have a table of over 1 million test score records that basically have a unique score_ID, a subject_ID and a score given by a person. The score range for most subjects is 0-3, but some have a range of 0-4. There are about 25 possible subjects. I need to produce a score distribution report which looks like: subject_ID 0 1 2 3 4 ---------- --- --- --- --- --- 1 967 576 856 234 2 576 947 847 987 324 . . So it groups the data by subject_ID, then shows how many times a specific score value was given within that subject. Any SQL pointers to generate this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello all, I am moving a web app from gwt 1.5 to gwt 2.0. I am trying to connect to the a database resource I have in my context.xml file.In gwt 1.5 I had set up root.xml in tomcat-conf-gwt-localhost. I have no idea where to set up the resource in GWT 2.0. I tried placing my context.xml file in war-META-INF with no luck. Anyone have an idea where to place the context.xml file to be able to use a jndi database resource in GWT 2.0? Thanks in advanced

I got on first server: return serialize ( $results ); and on second: $data = unserialize ( file_get_contents ( 'http://www.......com/reader.php' ) ); ...but there is no communication between .... Edit for Clarification My application runs fine. The problem is, that I didn't use designer to create the application and so in the designer view, the app is empty. But not empty when I run it, since everything is positioned programmatically in the .cs file. My question is, how can I fix this, so that the designer shows the objects correctly. There is no quick fix other than to redesign everything?

  • Forwarding activity result to parent, with singleTop launch mode

    I have two activities: a MainListActivity, and a DetailViewActivity. DetailViewActivity is set with android:launchMode="singleTop". When clicking an item in the "main list" activity, it launches the "detail view" activity via: startActivityForResult(detailIntent, REQUEST_CODE_DETAIL); If I then call setResult(RESULT_OK, resultData); and finish(); from within the Detail activity, that resultData is received by the "main list" activity's onActivityResult(..) method correctly. However, if I implement a "see previous"/"see next" type of navigation within the Detail activity, and implement it using singleTop, that result no longer gets sent back to the initial activity: Intent nextItemIntent = this.createIntent(nextId); nextItemIntent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_FORWARD_RESULT); startActivity(nextItemIntent); // at this point, my DetailActivity's onNewIntent() method is called, and the new data is loaded properly But from here, when I call setResult(..) and finish(), my MainList activity never receives the new/updated result. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

  • Android debug mode not working waiting for device

    I'm trying to get my android phone working to run apps from inside an IDE. Got it working on windows no problem, currently working in fedora (18) a lot though so wanted to get it working with that. Got IntelliJ and android sdk installed, problem is when I try to run the default hello world app it wont work it just says waiting for device.. Ran adb devices got List of devices attached ???????????? no permissions Leads me to believe the driver isn't installed? Phone I'm using is a HTC Sensation. Does anyone know what I can do to try and resolve it? The HTC web page doesn't offer me drivers to install. Also noticed in /etc/udev/rules.d/..android.rules there is nothing about Sensation. Seems it recognises my nexus 7 though.. Edit: Tried my nexus.. got List of devices attached 901839238298923 offline So it doesn't even work with that.. confusing.. Any help would be appreciated.     hey guys, for developement reasons (working with facebook-connect) i put the connect iframe in an iframe. on that way i am able to work on the connect-thing independent of my ip and don't have to develop on the live-server. the iframe holding the connect-button iframe is on my server, accessing the same db-server as the developer version (developer version is running on localhsot). as far as good ... BUT how can i let the parent site know, that the user has connected, so that i get his profile-picture displayd as reaction to this? how can i react in generally on an action/event/JS in an iframe? is there a way? can the iframe post data to the parent site? like a time-stamp and fb_userid? if the iframe stuff doesn't work ... i thougt of saving the ip to the fb_userid (to db) and check matches ... but i don't like this idea.

Question: Can I some how set FlushMode to ALWAYS in session factory or somewhere else to avoid repeating session.flush() call? All DB calls in DAO goes with HibernateTemplate instance.     Hi, I've got over 400 bookmarks saved as .webloc files. I'd like to move them to the iPhone's goodReader app. goodReader cannot open webloc files. It can sork with pdf, html but not webloc. Do you know of a way or a program that would take a folder as its input, and convert every single .webloc file in it into a PDF version or a html version - so I can grab the converted files and move them onto iPhone. I would very much like the game to run full screen, which is not a problem, but I am struggling with replacing flash default behavior when escape is pressed. When escape is pressed I would like to display a custom menu asking the user if they want to exit the game or continue playing, not just exit full screen more. Is this possible in Flash?

  • Why isn't a JS file hosted on Amazon S3 getting cached by the browser?

    I have a JS file hosted on Amazon S3 (http://s3.amazonaws.com/wingify/vis_opt.js). I want the file to be cached on users' browsers so that they don't have to download it with every page view. However, in spite of setting Cache Control header I don't think it is getting cached. Browser still contacts Amazon Server with every pageview. Here is the example of page where this script is embedded: http://myjugaad.in/ If you have Firebug, you will be able to see that browser requests it with every pageview. What can I do so that the file gets permanently cached? Thanks for help.
