• How to get "paster request" to use config host value instead of localhost?

  I'm trying to access my pylons application via cron job to send notifications to my users. The way I'm doing this is by running the application using something like: paster request myconfig.ini /maintenance/do In the actual controller I check for the "paste.command_request" to block public access. Everything works but the only problem is that within the notifications that I send to my users there is a link to their profile and the host is "localhost" which should instead be the domain name of the application. When the notifications are sent from within the served application (say, a user modifies their settings on the site) the notifications have the correct url. I am using mako to render my email tamplates and within the template I am using the "pylons.url" method with "qualified" set to "True". Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance.

• Creating xaml 'template' for multiple pages

  Hey, I'm developing a Silverlight application for the first time. I've gone through some tutorials, but I can't seem to find anything that helps me with this particular problem. I would like a set of buttons to be present on all of my pages (like a template). When a button is pressed, I would like the ContentGrid to slide out and a new ContentGrid slide in (with the relevant .xaml file being loaded). Are there any tutorials showing the best way to do this? From samples I've seen, they only seem to transition between two pages, so copy-pasting the group of buttons on each xaml page isn't too much of a problem. However, with more pages, it would be inefficient to copy-paste the base layout each time. Thanks for any suggestions

• How to add line breaks in RSS feeds?

  I'm building my own custom RSS feed in PHP. I want the tag to contain line breaks to make the text more readable. However, I can't seem to figure out how to do it correctly. No matter what I try some RSS reader interprets it incorrectly. Is there some standard best way to add a line-break in and RSS 2.0 feed? I have tried "\n", which works in NetNewsWire on the Mac, but gets ignored by the built-in Safari browser's RSS reader. I have tried <br />, which works in the Safari RSS reader, but results in all the text after the being cut off in NetNewsWire.

• Are there any kata for practice VIM?

  I've used VIM for many years as my primary text editor. And I am still learning how to use VIM for various editing tasks. The problem is that even if I learn something and use it once a week I forgot soon how I did it -- classic case is search and replace in many buffers using bufdo :(. I was wondering if there is any kata to daily VIM practice including many VIM commands: open existing files, create new files, edit files and move around: move cursor (beginning & end of line/function/block/screen, top & bottom of screen, move screen line up/down, etc.), mark, copy & paste, insert & remove characters/words/lines, move between buffers, move between windows, arrange windows, search & replace, repeat last command, formatting (=), probably some more (bookmarks, macros). save files, create/update/save an open projects (mksession and source). Do you know any kata for VIM of tutorial which could help to practice all above (and more) VIM commands?

  These days I tried to apply a free third pary CA ( www.cacert.org & www.freeca.cn ) and then set up Tomcat SSL with the CA. My purpose is to eliminate the "Certificate Error" page when accessing https://... from a client browser. But it's a little hard for me to get around it. My steps to apply a free CA, from www.freeca.cn I used keytool to generate a cer file with command: keytool -genkey ... // Generate a key keytool -certreq ... // Generate a cert file and then I got some code from the cert file, and paste onto www.freeca.cn to generate a cer file. Then I imported the cer file keytool -import -alias abc -file MyABC.cer -keystore mykeystorefile.store And then I set up the mykeystorefile.store into tomcat /conf/server.xml, but it didn't work, sill pop "Certificate Error" page when trying to access https://.... Can someone help me? Thanks

• Using only alphanumeric characters(a-z) inside toCharArray

  Below you will find me using toCharArray in order to send a string to array. I then MOVE the value of the letter using a for statement... for(i = 0; i < letter.length; i++){ letter[i] += (shiftCode); System.out.print(letter[i]); } However, when I use shiftCode to move the value such as... a shifted by -1; I get a symbol @. Is there a way to send the string to shiftCode or tell shiftCode to ONLY use letters? I need it to see my text, like "aaron", and when I use the for statement iterate through a-z only and ignore all symbols and numbers. I THINK it is as simple as... letter=codeWord.toCharArray(a,z); But trying different forms of that and googling it didn't give me any results. Perhaps it has to do with regex or something? Below you will find a complete copy of my program; it works exactly how I want it to do; but it iterates through letters and symbols. I also tried finding instructions online for toCharArray but if there exists any arguments I can't locate them. • Share pre-initialized GIT repository

  We were sharing a GIT repository via file-sharing system (smb://) and got it badly corrupted (a power cut meanwhile the post-send :P). Being new to GIT, trying to fix it I made it even worse and I lost all the refs (left with the object folder). Since the incident I haven't had the time to look at the problem and have just been keeping committing to my local clone. So my question is : Is there a way to copy the local repository back to the location of the old repository and make it a shared repository in order to keep some track of previous the history ? That's all I could figure out (I'm still a git-noob), any other solutions are more than welcome ! Thanks in advance !

• Debugging SQL in PGAdmin3 when sql contains variables

  In SQL Server I could copy sql code out of an application and paste it into SSMS, declare & assign vars that exist in the sql and run.. yay great debugging scenario. e.g. (please note I am rust and syntax may be incorrect) declare @x as varchar(10) set @x = 'abc' select * from sometable where somefield = @x I want to do something simular with postgres in pgadmin3 (or another postgres tool, anyy reccomendations?) I realise you can create pgscript, but it doesn't appear to be very good, for example, if I do the equlivent of above, it doesn't put the single quotes around the value in @x, nor does it let me by doubling them up and you don't get a table out after - only text... Currently I have a peice of sql someone has written that has 3 unique varibles in it which are used around 6 times each... So the question is how do other people debug sql this sql EFFICIENTLY, preferably in a simular fashion to my sql server days.

• Crashing the OS X Pasteboard

  I have an application that reads in text by emulating CMD-C copy commands and reading the pasteboard - unfortunately this the only way to achieve what I need. Occasionally, something goes wrong in execution (not sure yet if it's related to the copy command or not) and the app crashes. Once in a while, this has a knock on effect on the system-wide pasteboard - any other application that is running will crash if I attempt a copy, cut, or paste. Is there a robust way to handle this - something I should be doing with the NSPasteboard before exiting? Any information on what might be happening is appreciated. • SimpleModal bug when positioning HTML5 video

  I am trying to use simple modal to display a modal window containing a video. I'm using the HTML5 "video" tag to do this. Using JQuery and SimpleModal, I can get it working in Chrome and Firefox, but for some reason Safari fails to maintain the centered positioning of the modal dialog for the video. In other words, when you scroll up and down in the windows, the modal window stays in its place, but the video scrolls up and down with the rest of the content outside the window. I've put together a 29 line piece of HTML code that you can cut and paste to test. https://pastee.org/z5sw Anyone know what I can do to fix this? I've been trying for a few hours now and no combination of JQuery, SimpleModal, or CSS changes can seem to fix this. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

• iPhone - Get a pointer to the data behind CGDataProvider?

  I'm trying to take a CGImage and copy its data into a buffer for later processing. The code below is what I have so far, but there's one thing I don't like about it - it's copying the image data twice. Once for CGDataProviderCopyData() and once for the :getBytes:length call on imgData. I haven't been able to find a way to copy the image data directly into my buffer and cut out the CGDataProviderCopyData() step, but there has to be a way...any pointers?   Hi I have a number of legacy web controls (ascx) that contains huge amounts of inline C#. The forms contain a number of repeated and duplicate code. Our first plan is to move the code into code behinds per file, then refactor etc... were doing this to upgrade the client to the latest version of their cms At the moment we are going to have to manually copy and paste from hundreds of files, create a code behind, copy the code, add the namespaces based on the client-side imports and then do any tidying up does anybody PLEASE know of a tool that can do the majority of this work for us ? • UITextView on iPad INCREDIBLY Slow

  I have an NSMutableArray of custom views (that are pretty much 1 UITextView and 1 UILabel with a custom back ground image), these are created as they are need (I start with 2 (though the first one is only 2 UITextFields and the other is normal) of these). Now my issue here seems to be this: as soon as I try to edit any UITextView past the one in the 2nd view, it starts to run incredibly slow, not the app, just the textview. For example, as I type, the little blinky guy lags behind the text and when I click to copy/paste/cut/etc you can see the little balloon fly in from the upper left corner every time. I have run the static analyzer for leaks and come up with nothing and run it alongside some other the testing software in XCode and it does not appear to have any reason for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• GEdit/Python execution plugin?

  Hi I'm just starting out learning python with GEdit plus various plugins as my IDE. Visual Studio/F# has a feature which permits the highlighting on a piece of text in the code window which then, on a keypress, gets executed in the F# console. Is there a similar facility/plugin which would enable this sort of behaviour for GEdit/Python? I do have various execution type plugins (Run In Python,Better Python Console) but they don't give me this particular behaviour - or at least I'm not sure how to configure them to give me this. I find it useful because in learning python, I have some test code I want to execute particular individual lines or small segments of code (rather then a complete file) to try and understand what they are doing (and the copy/paste can get a bit tiresome) ... or perhaps there is a better way to do code exploration? • Visual Studio 2010 Database Projects: Are there any videos/tutorials or comments about the new Datab

  I have recently upgraded to Visual Studio 2010. I have kept database projects separate to application projects. The database project was converted from and old DPR project and added a whole lot of additional folder. I deleted those, but now I suspect I need to recreate the project as these new projects work very differently. Now that I have need to update scripts, it seems I can even paste new SQL files into the project so am a bit stuck. Are there any tutorials / walkthrough that show the basics on starting and creating a database project? Or even better a video? Also if there are any tips and tricks or comments on this, I will be happy to hear them?

• Tabexpansion function Does Not Resolve Variable

  I'm attempting to override and implement my own TabExpansion. In the function I want to parse the contents of $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text when a certain $lastword criteria is matched. The issue I have is that the variable $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text is resolved to the contents of my TabExpansion function rather than whatever text is in a PowerShell ISE tab. Here's simple test function. Open an ISE tab and paste the following tabexpansion function definition: function tabexpansion { $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text } Run the script in ISE. Next open another tab in ISE type some text and press the tab key The output will be function tabexpansion { $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text } Rather than whatever text was in the second tab. Is there any way to get $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text to resolve at runtime when used within a tabexpansion function?

  If I select an Outlook message from my Inbox and copy it to the clipboard I can paste it as an *.msg file to the Desktop. Now I want to implement the same feature to my application. The Clipboard object contains the following elements: RenPrivateSourceFolder RenPrivateMessages RenPrivateItem FileGroupDescriptor FileGroupDescriptorW FileDrop FileNameW FileName FileContents Object Descriptor System.String UnicodeText Text FileGroupDescriptor contains a MemoryStream with the filename (Subject.msg) but I don't know how to create a copy from the outlook message from the Clipboard data, since none of the elements seem to contain the message itself. Any Suggestions?

  Hello guys, I am trying to do the following. Imagine you are reading some LINQ article and you decide to copy/paste some code from the article to a newly created project. In most cases, if you directly compile you will probably get an error for missing a using directives or assembly reference. I am trying to optimize the process where I have to go each keyword, click on it with the mouse and hit Shift + Alt + F10 to add the using directive. • ASP.NET site freezing up, showing odd text at top of the page while loading, on one server

  I have various servers (dev, 2 x test, 2 x prod) running the same asp.net site. The test and prod servers are in load-balanced pairs. One of these pairs is exhibiting some kind of (super) slowdown or freezing every other page load or so. Sometimes a line of text appears at the very top of the page which looks something like: 00 OK Date: Thu, 01 Apr 2010 01:50:09 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered_By: ASP.NET X-AspNet-Version:2.0.50727 Cache-Control:private Content-Type:text/html; charset=ut (the beginning and end are "cut off".) Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any idea what it means or what's causing it?

• How do sprites work?

  How do sprites work? I've seen sprites from old school games like Super Mario Brothers, and wondered how they're animated to make a game. They're always presented as one big image map, so how are they used? For Mario (as an example) are there precalculated image co-ordinates that outline mario, and are swapped between various mario sprites to produce animation? Or are sprites pre "cut" during game initialization using precalculated images co-ordinates and stored in memory somewhere? Obviously I know nothing about game development.

  I am writing a tool to create an otf or ttc with only characters defined in our localized string table, so we can cut down memory usage. I already have the information for the Japanese characters we are using but I am unable to find an example of creating a new font based around these characters. Does anyone know of a good example or even the interface I can access to do this? I am working in C# with .NET 3.5. I am looking into Volt and TTOasm from Microsoft, but I am not sure if they will do exactly what I need. Any information is appreciated. Thanks, Matt Smith

If I paste in ClientData.grdOnEnter then a dialog says it is not an valid identifier. Is it possible to share an event for several units in Delphi 2007 ?
