• jQuery UI Autocomplete formating help, (I'm new to jQuery)

  I can't seem to figure out how to add additional functionality to the basic jquery autocomplete. • Automated payment notification with php

  I'm about to integrate automated payments into a site. To date, I've successfully used paypal for a number of projects, but these have always been sites which sell physical goods, meaning I can upload the cart contents, user pays, person physically ships goods. This site is a one off payment to enable extra features on a web app. My current thinking is to go down the paypal IPN route to get a notification back and update the users account based on the successful payment. Question is in two parts: 1 - is there a better / simpler way? (any payment processor considered) 2 - does anyone know of a code library or plug in for php which will speed up my integration? • Modelling a manyToMany relationship with attributes

  Hello, I have a ManyToMany relationship between two classes, for instance class Customer and class Item. A customer can buy several items and an item can be bought by different customers. I need to store extra information in this relationship, for example the day when the item was bought. I wonder how is this usually modelled in JPA, cause I'm not sure how to express this in code. Do I have to create a new class to model all the attributes of the relationship and make a manyToMany relationship between the other classes or is a better way to do this? Thanks

• How to handle downgrade subscription for SaaS application

  I am currently launching a SaaS web application. I want to have subscription packages such as: Premium: 5 users, 20 widgets, 20 MB storage Basic: 2 users, 10 widgets, 50 MB storage I want to allow companies to upgrade and downgrade packages at any time. The problem I am having is what if the company is on the premium package and has 5 users, 20 widgets, and wants to downgrade to the "basic" package. How do I handle that? Do I flag an error and say "You cannot downgrade" or do I take them to a page to remove the "extra" users and widgets? Any advice or examples of how other companies do it would be great!!

• Translate a webpage in PHP

  I'm looking to translate a webpage in PHP 5 so I can save the translation and make it easily accessible via mydomain.com/lang/fr/category/article.html rather than users having to go through google translate. I've found various easy ways to translate text via CURL, however what i'd really like to be able to do is translate an entire webpage but obviously ignore the tags. The problem is that Google Translate messes up all the HTML tags, class names etc Does anyone know of a php class that can translate an entire webpage whilst ignoring the tags? I'm guessing it may be possible via advanced regular expressions or something like that, but i'm not sure. I can't just curl Google's response as i'll have all the extra JS that they put in. Any ideas?

• Changing property type in class that implements interface with object type property.

  I know the title is a bit confusing but bare with me. (I'm up for suggestions on a new title lol) I'm writing a TemplateEngine that will allow me to use my own markup in text based files. I'm wanting to add controls as plugins as the application matures. Currently i've got a structure like the following: interface IControl string Id object Value class Label : IControl string Id string Value class Repeater : IControl string Id List<IControl> Value Now you'll see the strange part right away in the Repeater class with the Value property. I was hoping that having the Value type as object in the interface would allow me the flexibility to expand the controls as i go along. The compiler doesn't like this and for good reason i guess. Does anyone have any suggestions how to accomplish this? Note: Please don't go into suggesting things like use Spark View Engine for templating. There is a reason i'm creating extra work for myself.

• SVN Mac oSX issue - permissions?

  Hello there, /Volumes/sites is a connection to a samba share that hosts some of our sites. We authorise using a username & password that is the same user/pass to log onto the mac. When committing, (or even doing a cleanup) from the Mac Client side using the svn command line tool or SCPlugin, this error occurs: Commit succeeded, but other errors follow: Error bumping revisions post-commit (details follow): In directory '/Volumes/sites/foobar/public_html' Error processing command 'committed' in '/Volumes/sites/foobar/public_html' Error replacing text-base of 'index.php' Can't move '/Volumes/sites/foobar/public_html/.svn/tmp/text-base/index.php.svn-base' to '/Volumes/sites/foobar/public_html/.svn/text-base/index.php.svn-base': Operation not permitted Any ideas? I think it's to do with permissions on the mac side not being able to move files around on the samba share. Apologies if my question is kinda vague so any extra information I can give please shout. • Is there a way to make vim display "virtual characters" before/after regular patterns in the buffer?

  Vim has list and listchars options that make vim display "virtual characters" (by which I mean characters that aren't actually in the buffer) in certain situations. For example, you can make trailing spaces look like something else, or add a visible character to represent the newline character. I'd like to be able to enable the display of certain characters either before or after certain regular patterns ((perhaps syntax items). Sort of like syntax highlighting, but instead of just changing the color/styling of characters that are in the buffer, I'd like to display extra characters that aren't in the buffer. For example, I'd like to display a virtual : (colon) after all occurrences of the word "where" that appear at the end of a line. Is this possible, and if so, what is the necessary vimscript to do it?

• LaTeX - vertical space equivalent of \makebox ?

  I'm making a LaTeX document and I'm getting success with \makebox, which puts text in an invisible box and will add extra horizontal whitespace to the end to make the whole thing fit within the size you specify. Is there something like that for vertical space? I have a few variable length paragraphs, images, etc. that I want to put in this vertical box. I want LaTeX to put in the right amount of vertical space (at the bottom) so that the whole thing is of the set size that I give it.

• Extend TTPhotoViewController with custom TTPhotoView

  I have successfully integrated the three20 framework in my project, and I have extended the TTPhotoViewController to add some further functionality. Now I need to add some subviews to the TTPhotoView loaded by the TTPhotoViewController. In particular I would like to add that subviews after every TTPhotoView as been loaded. These subviews represents sensible area over the image so they should scale proportionally with the image. The user can tap a subview to get extra info about the image. I don't know how to implement this behavior. Should I extend the TTPhotoView and make sure that the TTPhotoViewController use this extended version instead of its TTPhotoView? Could someone point me to the right direction? Thank you

• Running a shellscript from a C++ application and check if it succeeds

  I am creating an interpreter for my extension to HQ9+, which has the following extra command called V: V: Interpretes the code as Lua, Brainfuck, INTERCAL, Ruby, ShellScript, Perl, Python, PHP in that order, and if even one error has occoured, run the HQ9+-ABC code again most of them have libraries, BF and INTERCAL can be interpreted without a library, but the problem lies in ShellScript. How can I run a shellscript from my C++ application ( =the HQ9+-ABC interpreter) and when it's done, get the error code (0 = succeded, all others = failed)? So something like this: system(".tempshellscript738319939474"); if(errcode != 0) { (rerun code); } can anyone help me? Thanks

• WPF Template: AdornedElement not showing!

  I want to add some elements to a TextBox by using a Template with the extra elements and the original TextBox inserted in the right spot. I'm trying to use the AdornedElementPlaceholder just like you would do when making a Validation.ErrorTemplate But the AdornedElement is not showing up. • asp.net: Is it possible to have multiple login forms to access different subfolders?

  Hi, Is it possible to have multiple login pages for different folders within an asp.net application? Say I have this structure: /admin /customer /login-admin.aspx /login-customer.aspx I have 2 different login forms. One for the admin people and one for the customers (the forms are different as the customers need to provide extra information on their login page). In the authentication section of the webconfig file (which is at the root of the web app), I can only specify one Login page. So how can I make sure thaf if anyone tries to access a webpage in /admin they will be redirected to /login-admin.aspx and if they try to access a webpage in /customer they will be redirected to /login-customer.aspx ? • What's wrong with my logic here?

  In java they say don't concatenate Strings, instead you should make a stringbuffer and keep adding to that and then when you're all done, use toString() to get a String object out of it. Here's what I don't get. They say do this for performance reasons, because concatenating strings makes lots of temporary objects. But if the goal was performance, then you'd use a language like C/C++ or assembly. The argument for using java is that it is a lot cheaper to buy a faster processor than it is to pay a senior programmer to write fast efficient code. So on the one hand, you're supposed let the hardware take care of the inefficiencies, but on the other hand, you're supposed to use stringbuffers to make java more efficient. While I see that you can do both, use java and stringbuffers, my question is where is the flaw in the logic that you either use a faster chip or you spent extra time writing more efficient software.

• REST: Should I redirect to the version URL of an entity?

  I am currently working on a REST service. This service has an entity which has different versions, similar to Wikipedia articles. Now I'm wondering what I should return if for GET /article/4711 Should I use a (temporary) redirect to the current version, e.g. GET /article/4711/version/7 Or should I return the current version directly? Using redirects would considerably simplify HTTP caching (using Last-Modified) but has the disadvantages a redirect has (extra request, 'harder' to implement). Therefore I'm not sure whether this is good practice though. Any suggestions, advise, or experiences to share? (btw: ever tried search for "REST Version"? Everything you get is about the version of the API rather than entities. So please bear with me if this is a duplicate.)

• How do I set up the Clojure classpath in Emacs after installing with ELPA?

  I'm trying to add paths to my classpath in the Clojure REPL that I've set up in Emacs using ELPA. Apparently, this isn't the $CLASSPATH environment variable, but rather the swank-clojure-classpath variable that Swank sets up. Because I used ELPA to install Swank, Clojure, etc., there are a ton of .el files that take care of everything instead of my .emacs file. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to change the classpath now. I've tried using (setq 'swank-clojure-extra-classpaths (list ...)) both before and after the ELPA stuff in my .emacs, and I've tried adding paths directly to swank-clojure-classpath in .emacs, .emacs.d/init.el, and .emacs.d/user/user.el, but nothing works. What I'm ultimately trying to do is to add both the current directory "." and the directory in which I keep my Clojure programs. I'm assuming swank-clojure-classpath is the thing I need to set here. • JavaScript Metaprogramming: Reduce boilerplate of adding functions to a function queue

  I'm working with animation in JavaScript, and I have a bunch of functions you can call to add things to the animation queue. Basically, all of these functions look like this: function foo(arg1, arg2) { _eventQueue.push(function() { // actual logic } } I'm wondering now if it would be possible to cut down on this boilerplate a little bit, though, so I don't need that extra "_eventQueue" line in the function body dozens of times. Would it be possible, for example, to make a helper function which takes an arbitrary function as an argument and returns a new function which is augmented to be automatically added to the event queue? The only problem is that I need to find a way to maintain access to the function's original arguments in this process, which is... complicated.

• Why No NSAttributedString on the iPhone?

  Hey guys, Does anyone know what made Apple leave out NSAttributedString when turning AppKit into UIKit? The reason I ask is that I would really like to use it in my iPhone app, and there appears to be no replacement or alternative than doing it myself... It is possible to have mixed font attributes on a string - it's just a hell of a lot of work to to achieve something similar that was possible with a few lines of code with NSAttributedString. Also, doing all this extra drawing code myself makes my table view cells really heavy, and really hurts performance. Anyone got any ideas? Any genius's working on an opensource alternative to NSAttributedString?

• Autoconf macros for Apache and conf.d install process?

  I have a package that is using the autotools to build and install. Part of the package is a website that can be run on the local machine. So in the package there is a .conf file that is meant to be either copied or linked to the /etc/apache2/conf.d directory. What's the standard way that packages would do this? If possible, I'd like for the user not to have an extra step to make the website work. I'd like to have them install the package and then be able to browse to http://localhost/newpackage to get up and running. Also, is there a way that autoconf knows about the apache install or a standard way through then environment some how? If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. Steve

• unable to get into windows 7 or ubuntu after system file back on a dual boot system

  I installed ubuntu on my dell xps 9000 which originally has a window 7 installed. So after I did system file back up as told by windows 7 and restarted my computer, I received the following message right after restarting in the black screen: roughly like this: ubuntu grub error, " " symbol cannot be found. I was wondering how I can get access into windows 7 and uninstall ubuntu all together. I actually had the same booting problem after system backup before and the solution was to install two extra ubuntus but I'd prefer not to do that. I'd highly appreciate any help!
