• Ruby on Rails AJAX call affects only the first element in collection

  I'm iterating over a collection of elements and trying to get AJAX to work properly on a specific element within the collection. I'm nesting a few partials in order to iterate over these items and use a js.erb call like this: $('#favorite_form').html("<%=j render partial: 'shared/unfavorite', locals: { mission: @mission } %>"); This only seems to change the 1st item in the collection even though I could be clicking the 5th item down the list, for example. Question: How can I specify (via .js and AJAX) which element to update? Is this jQuery call not specific enough to the individual element? • First html5 website, see any mistakes?

It's actually a pretty sloppy job since its a learning experience and all. I know some files (like favicons and some scripts) are useless/not linked, but seeing as this is a test I won't bother creating them. But do you see any mistakes I made? If the node to be removed is anywhere else in the linked list the method works fine. Can someone give me some insight as to where I've gone wrong?   I am contemplating writing my first blackberry app. I am fundamentally, a C/C++ programmer (not Java), can anyone provide some guidelines on the quickest route (i.e. shallowest learning curve) to writing a blackberry app? As an aside: In an ideal world, I would like to write once and deploy for both Blackberry and the iPhone, but since I am targetting largely business people, I guess blackberry should be my target - right? • Load all tab bar views when application first runs

  Here's the problem. I have a tab bar controller with 4 separate views. When I navigate from the first view to the second view, it takes some time to load up the second view. What I want to do is be able to load and initialize all of my tab bar views during my splash screen. That way, when the user navigates between the tab views, there is no wait time.   I am using code first approach in a ASP.NET MVC 3 application and all integer primary keys in models (public int Id { get; set; }) are by default configured as an identity with auto-incrementing. How to disable this and enable a way to manually enter the integer for the primary key? The actual situation is that the Id integers have a special meaning and I would therefore like to have them choosable at creation and later editable. It would be ideal if in case the integer is not given at creation time it is auto-incremented, else the specified value is used. But editable primary fields is my primary need. Is there any way to do this elegantly in ASP.NET MVC 3?

• Abstract away a compound identity value for use in business logic?

  While separating business logic and data access logic into two different assemblies, I want to abstract away the concept of identity so that the business logic deals with one consistent identity without having to understand its actual representation in the data source. I've been calling this a compound identity abstraction. Data sources in this project are swappable and various and the business logic shouldn't care which data source is currently in use. The identity is the toughest part because its implementation can change per kind of data source, whereas other fields like name, address, etc are consistently scalar values. What I'm searching for is a good way to abstract the concept of identity, whether it be an existing library, a software pattern or just a solid good idea of some kind is provided. The proposed compound identity value would have to be comparable and usable in the business logic and passed back to the data source to specify records, entities and/or documents to affect, so the data source must be able to parse back out the details of its own compound ids. Data Source Examples: This serves to provide an idea of what I mean by various data sources having different identity implementations. A relational data source might express a piece of content with an integer identifier plus a language specific code. For example. content_id language Other Columns expressing details of content 1 en_us 1 fr_ca The identity of the first record in the above example is: 1 + en_us However when a NoSQL data source is substituted, it might somehow represent each piece of content with a GUID string 936DA01F-9ABD-4d9d-80C7-02AF85C822A8 plus language code of a different standardization, And a third kind of data source might use just a simple scalar value. So on and so forth, you get the idea.

• JQuery .get() only passing first two data parameters in url

When I look at the dev console in chrome, it shows the URL that gets called, and it only passes action and dbname. • javascript timer fires up on the first key press

  I have a html page with a timer in it. I'm starting the timer with the keypress event, but i want it to execute only for the first key. I'm using a variable to catch the total keys in an other function which there were pressed and i have something like that: if(totaAttempts==1) start the timer, but with this solution the timer starts correctly, but is stomps when a key is pressed again. Any better ideas?   I'm having a problem with a django website I host with lighttpd + fastcgi. It works great but it seems that the first request always takes up to 3seconds. Subsequent requests are much faster (<1s).   I wonder what is a correct step by step logic of exporting scene with baked occlusion (Culling data) for loading that scene at runtime (on fly from the internet for example))? So currently my plan looks like this: I create prefabs Place them onto my scene (into Hierarchy) (say create 20 buffolows and some hourses and some buildings) Create empty prefab and drag all my scene objects from hierarchy onto it Export prefab So generally I put all my scene objects into one large prefab and export it but it seems that all objects that were marked as static get this property turned off when loading them at runtime and so no Frustrum Culling, and no Occlusion culling happens. So I wonder what is a correct way of exporting Sceen + Objecrts + Occlusion (and onther culing) data for future load of such scene at runtime? I wonder about current 3.5.2 Pro and future 4 Pro versions of U3D.
