• Making RDoc Ruby Gem Default on Mac OS X

  Hey all, I've recently installed RDoc version (2.4.3) through Ruby gems to replace the one shipped with Mac OS X (version 1.0.1). Unfortunately, I can still only use RDoc 1.0.1 when I call run "rdoc" at the command line. rdoc -v returns: RDoc V1.0.1 - 20041108 I tried amending the $PATH variable to point the first entry to the RDoc 2.4.3 folder but no luck. I couldn't find anything about this online either, so I thought I'd ask here. Cheers! Update 2: I found out, using: `bash --debugger rdoc` that the old version of RDoc was in /opt/local/bin. I deleted it and added my gems directory to my $PATH `export PATH=/usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/` I now have a fresh working copy of the latest RDoc!

• android & libgdx - disable blurry images rendering

  i'm trying out libgdx as an opengl wrapper , and i have some issues with its graphical rendering : for some reason , all images (textures) on android device look a little blurred using libgdx . this also includes text (font) . however, for normal images , even though i show the entire image , i expect it to look as sharp as i see it on a computer , especially if i have such a good screen on the device (it's galaxy nexus) . i've tried to set the anti-aliasing off , by using the next code : final AndroidApplicationConfiguration androidApplicationConfiguration=new AndroidApplicationConfiguration(); androidApplicationConfiguration.numSamples=0; //tried the value of 1 too. ... i've also tried to set the scaling method to various methods , but with no luck. example: texture.setFilter(TextureFilter.Nearest,TextureFilter.Nearest); as a test , i've found a sharp image that is exactly the same as the seen resolution on the device (720x1184 for galaxy nexus , because of the buttons bar) , and i've put it to be on the background of the libgdx app . of course , i had to add extra blank space in order for the texute to be loaded , so the final size of the image (which will include content and empty space) is still a power of 2 for both width and height (1024x2048 in my case) . on the desktop app , it look ok . on the device , it looked blurred. a weird thing that i've noticed is that when i change the device's orientation (horizontal <= vertical) , for the very short time before the rotating animation starts , i see both the image and the text very well . can anyone please help me?

  I've been working on a J function for a while, that's supposed to scan a list and put consecutive copies of an element into separate, concatenated boxes. My efforts have taken me as far as the function (<;. 2) ((2&(~:/\)),1:) which tests successive list entries for inequality, returns a list of boolean values, and cuts the list into boxes that end each time the number 1 appears. Here's an example application: (<;. 2) ((2&(~:/\)),1:) 1 2 3 3 3 4 1 1 1 +-+-+-----+-+-----+ |1|1|0 0 1|1|0 0 1| +-+-+-----+-+-----+ The task would be finished if I could then replace all those booleans with their corresponding values in the input argument. (i.e. "This boxed array over here has the first element boxed at depth one, the second element boxed at depth one, the third, fourth, and fifth elements boxed together at depth one,..., so take that unboxed list over there and box it up the same way.") I tried fooling around with ;. , S: , L:, L. and &. to produce that behavior, but I haven't had much luck. Is there some kind of operator or principle I'm missing that could make this happen? It wouldn't surprise me if I were overthinking the whole issue, but I'm running out of ideas.

• Can I programmatically add a linkbutton to gridview?

  I've been looking through some similar questions without any luck. What I'd like to do is have a gridview which for certain items shows a linkbutton and for other items shows a hyperlink. Currently, everything displays correctly, but the linkbuttons don't raise the Command event handler, and all of the controls disappear on postback. Any ideas?

  Hey people Okay, what I'm trying to accomplish is a simple tool tip that, when you hover over the name of a color, shows a little image of that color. But when you hover over the text the little thumbnail shows up and makes it easy to recognize the color. The problem is I haven't got a clue how to get the src for the thumbnail. I don't know how to extract the src from the img inside the selected element. I've tried various combinations using the this keyword, but nothing seemed to work. I've also tried to add the src path as a rel attribute to the label, but also without any success. Should be needless to say I also control the PHP-output... I really hope you can help me. • git merge with renamed files

  I have a large website that I am moving into a new framework and in the process adding git. The current site doesn't have any version control on it. I started by copying the site into a new git repository. I made a new branch and made all of the changes that were needed to make it work with the new framework. One of those steps was changing the file extension of all of the pages. Now in the time that I have been working on the new site changes have been made to files on the old site. So I switched to master and copied all of those changes in. The problem is when I merge the branch with the new framework back onto master there is a conflict on every file that was changed on the master branch. I wouldn't be to worried about it but there are a couple of hundred files with changes. I have tried git rebase and git rebase --merge with no luck. How can I merge these 2 branches without dealing with every file?

  I've done quite a bit a research on this with no luck, but all the answers have a tendency to point toward the session context settings in the config file. What is odd is that I get a session connection the very first time I hit the page (and therefore, a successful result set), but then when I reload I get the following exception: org.hibernate.SessionException: Session is closed! • PHP - "Fat Free Framework" Find Methods and Showing Results in Template

  Just started trying the "Fat Free Framework" I'm building a site using a MySQL DB with 265 fields, and 5000+ rows in the DB; I can load() a specific record easily, no problems. When using find(), afind(), and even "select()", template will show blank lines or lines with "filler" text, with the correct number of rows for the query results, but no text/data from the DB itself; Same problem whether using objects or simply arrays from result (afind() and find()). I've copied/pasted the code verbatim from examples and from documentation, with only the DB specific items changed. Still, no luck. • Dynamic Linq Library Guid exceptions

  I am having a problem with the Dynamic Linq Library. I get a the following error "ParserException was unhandled by user code ')" or ','". I have a Dicitionary and I want to create a query based on this dictionary. So I loop through my dictionary and append to a string builder "PersonId = (GUID FROM DICTIONARY). I think the problem is were I append to PersonId for some reason I can't seem to convert my string guid to a Guid so the dynamic library don't crash.   Hello all, I'm trying to create a generic database mapping class with PHP. Collecting the data through my functions is going well, but as expected I'm retrieving a nested set. • Facebook SDK Comment Deleting

  Working with the Facebook php SDK's, I am having a lot of trouble figuring out how to delete comments, given its id and xid. At first I was using the REST API, where you can call 'comments_remove($xid, $id);' to delete a comment. The problem with this method came when the xid parameter only accepts alphanumeric characters and underscores. Based on the documentation (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/fbml/comments ) a valid XID can be the result of any url_encode. Now I am testing my luck with the new GRAPH api. Looking at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/api under 'Deleting Objects', It seems that comment deleting is definitely supported. However, I have tried sending a DELETE request, and I have also tried sending POST and GET to the object url with the argument 'method=delete'. No matter how I try it, I always get the same error: {"error":{"type":"GraphMethodException","message":"Unsupported delete request."}} I am sending the access token as a parameter as well. The access token that I am sending is the access token saved in the facebook cookie from the single sign on javascript cookie. These are all comments made on my application. Does this happen to anyone else, or am I simply not doing this right? Any help or guidance is GREATLY appreciated.

• Why does a non-dynamically created iframe shim show, but a dynamically created one does not?

  I have a custom control that is made up of a text field and the ajax control toolkit dateextender. In IE6 I'm hitting the z-index bug where the calendar is showing behind select boxes. If I have the shim sitting in the control, initially hidden, it seems to display fine when the calendar is shown, but when I try to dynamically create the shim on showing it doesn't appear. I've tried bgiframe and some examples I found on SO, no luck.   Hi, I'm using Visual Studio 10 and I just created a Database using SQL Server CE. Within it, I made a table CSLDataTable and that automatically created a CSLDataSet & CSLDataTableTableAdapter. The three variables were automatically created in my MainWindow.cs class: cSLDataSet cSLDataTableTableAdapter cSLDataTableBindingSource I have added a DataGridView in my Form called dataGridView and datasource cSLDataTableBindingSource. The DataGridView shows the headers correctly, but that new row does not show up.

• Copy a directory from a jar file

  Hi. I recently finished and application and created a jar file. One of my classes creates an output directory populating it with files from it's resource. The code is something like this: // Copy files from dir "template" in this class resource to output. private void createOutput(File output) throws IOException { File template = new File(FileHelper.URL2Path(getClass().getResource("template"))); FileHelper.copyDirectory(template, output); } The problem is that now that I am running for a jar, this doesn't work. I tried without luck: Using Streams to solve similar stuff on other classes but it doesn't work with dirs. Code was similar to http://www.exampledepot.com/egs/java.io/CopyFile.html Creating the File template with new File(getClass().getResource("template").toUri()) While writting this I was thinking about instead of having a template dir in the resource path having a zip file of it. Doing it this way I could get the file as an inputStream and unzip it where I need to. But I am not sure if it's the correct way. Thanks for reading!

• Git as mercurial client? Why no git-hg?

  This is a question that's been bothering me for a while. I've done my homework and checked stackoverflow and found at least these two topics about my question: Git for Mercurial like git-svn and Git interoperability with a Mercurial repository I've done some serious googling to solve this issue, but so far with no luck. I've also read the Git Internals book, and the Mercurial Definitive Behind the Scenes to try to figure this out. I'm still a bit puzzled why I haven't been able to find any suitable git-hg type of a tool. From my perspective hg-svn is one of the main features, why I've chosen to use git over mercurial also at work. It allows me to use a workflow I like, and nobody else needs to bother, if they don't care. I just don't see the point in using the intermediate hg repo to convert back and forth, as suggested in one of the chains. So anyway, from what I've read hg and git seem very similar in conceptual design. There are differences under the hood, but none of those should prevent creating a git client for hg. As it seems to me, remote tracking branches and octopus merges make git even more powerful than hg is. So, the real question, is there any real reason why git-hg does not exist (or at least is very hard to find)? Is there some animosity from git users (and developers) towards their hg counterparts that has caused the lack of the git-hg tool? Do any of you have any plans to develop something like this, and go public with it? I could volunteer (although with very feeble C-skills) to participate to get this done. I just don't possess the full knowledge to start this up myself. Could this be the tool to end all DVCS wars for good?

• Boost::thread mutex issue: Try to lock, access violation

  I am currently learning how to multithread with c++, and for that im using boost::thread. I'm using it for a simple gameengine, running three threads. Two of the threads are reading and writing to the same variables, which are stored inside something i call PrimitiveObjects, basicly balls, plates, boxes etc. But i cant really get it to work, i think the problem is that the two threads are trying to access the same memorylocation at the same time, i have tried to avoid this using mutex locks, but for now im having no luck, this works some times, but if i spam it, i end up with this exception: First-chance exception at 0x00cbfef9 in TTTTT.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xdddddded. Unhandled exception at 0x77d315de in TTTTT.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xdddddded. • asp.net ajax toolkit combobox doesn't work in hidden div

  I have a combobox inside a hidden div which I use css display = none to make it invisible, but when I make the div visible by setting display = block, the combobox just show the input and its button and ul list all have css as display = 'none', visibility ='hidden'. I can tell it is done by combobox inbuild javascript because I tried to use javascript to set the css manually with no luck. It is a bug of combobox. Urgent help needed. I spent a week to solve this, and our team put a lot trust on the toolkit. Please help me on this, all javascript gurus, thanks. Below is the code to reproduce the bug. • Visual Studio opening .xml files in Notepad

  So I'm happily working on a project making heavy use of custom .xml configuration files this morning. All of a sudden, whenever I double-click an .xml file in Solution Explorer, it opens in Notepad instead of within Visual Studio. Thinking that it was the Windows file associations, I right-clicked on a file in Explorer, selected Open With Choose Defaults, and selected Visual Studio 2008. But the problem remains -- now when I open a file from Explorer, Visual Studio Opens, then it opens Notepad. Needless to say, this is very frustrating, and Google is not much help. Has anyone else ever had this problem, and what did you do about it? Notes: This only happens for .xml files. Other text files (.config, .txt) open within Visual Studio just fine. This has nothing to do with Windows file associations, as Windows open up VS2008 just as it should. This is some crazy problem internal to Visual Studio. I've also tried Tools Options General Restore File Associations. No luck. Nothing present in Tools Options Text Editor File Extension This is what my "Open With" menu looks like for .xml files. As you can see, "XML Editor" is set to the default.

• How do I overwrite a file currently being read by Python

  Hi guys, I am not too sure the best way to word this, but what I want to do, is read a pdf file, make various modifications, and save the modified pdf over the original file. As of now, I am able to save the modified pdf to a separate file, but I am looking to replace the original, not create a new file. Here is my current code: from pyPdf import PdfFileWriter, PdfFileReader output = PdfFileWriter() input = PdfFileReader(file('input.pdf', 'rb')) blank = PdfFileReader(file('C:\\BLANK.pdf', 'rb')) # Copy the input pdf to the output. for page in range(int(input.getNumPages())): output.addPage(input.getPage(page)) # Add a blank page if needed. if (input.getNumPages() % 2 != 0): output.addPage(blank.getPage(0)) # Write the output to pdf. outputStream = file('input.pdf', 'wb') output.write(outputStream) outputStream.close() If i change the outputStream to a different file name, it works fine, I just cant save over the input file because it is still being used. I have tried to .close() the stream, but it was giving me errors as well. I have a feeling this has a fairly simple solution, I just haven't had any luck finding it. Thanks!

• Classic ASP on IIS 7

  Hi, I am having problems with my app running on IIS 7. The application is a mixture of classic ASP and ASP.NET MVC (don't ask how and why). Anyway, the application is up and running except for some problems that I am experiencing. For example, I have a button on my page and when I click it, javascript is opening a popup which needs to contain .asp page. But that doesn't happen. I get the blank popup with my cursor on busy as it still loads. This is happening almost always to me in IE. In Firefox it is much better but sometimes the app jams there too. If I close the opened, blank popup, and I want to move around the application, my buttons in menu (which are also .asp) doesn't load properly. For example, I have different buttons for different sections and when I move around they should change. When I restart the browser, only then everything works normal for some time, but the problem occurs again after a while. I am very sure that it is not the problem in application itself, because it works properly on the machines of my colleagues without those problems. They have the same OS (Vista Professional) and we compared the settings in IIS and they match. So I am very confused, and I really don't know how to solve the problem. I found a bunch of articles and blog posts about classic ASP and IIS7 but most of them are about enabling asp, which I already did. So I am suspecting that something wrong with IIS, but I don't know what, tried to reinstall it, hoping for some improvement, but I had no luck. If you need more details please ask. Does anyone have any idea what should I try or do?

• RichEdit VCL and URLs. Workarounds for OnPaint Issues.

  So, issue is with the thing Delphi progies scare to death - Rich Edit in Windows ( XP and pre-XP versions ). Situation: I have added EM_AUTOURLDETECTION in OnCreate of form. Target - RichEdit1. Then, I have form, that is "collapsed" after showing form. RichEdit Control is sattic, visible and enabled, but it is "hidden" because form window is collapsed. I can expand and collapse form, using Button1 and changing forms Constraints and Size properties. After first time I expand form, the URL inside RichEdit1 control is highlighted. BUT - After second, third, fourth, etc... time I Collapse and Expand form, the RichEdit1 Control does not highlight URL anymore. I have tried EM_SETTEXTMODE messages, also WM_UPDATEUISTATE, also basic WM_TEXT message - no luck. It sems like this merssage really works ( enables detection ) while sending keyboard strokes ( virtual keycodes ), but not when text has been modified. Also - I am thinking to rewrite code to make RichEdit Control dynamic. Would this fix the problem? Maybe solution is to override OnPaint / OnDraw method to avoid highlight ( formatting ) losing when collapsing or expanding form? Weird is that my Embarcadero Documentation says this function must work in any moment text has been modified. Why it does not work? Any help appreciated. • Convert HTML + CSS to PDF with PHP?

  Ok, I'm now banging my head against a brick wall with this one. I have an HTML (not XHTML) document that renders fine in Firefox 3 and IE 7. It uses fairly basic CSS to style it and renders fine in HTML. I'm now after a way of converting it to PDF. I have tried: DOMPDF: it had huge problems with tables. I factored out my large nested tables and it helped (before it was just consuming up to 128M of memory then dying--thats my limit on memory in php.ini) but it makes a complete mess of tables and doesn't seem to get images. The tables were just basic stuff with some border styles to add some lines at various points; HTML2PDF and HTML2PS: I actually had better luck with this. It rendered some of the images (all the images are Google Chart URLs) and the table formatting was much better but it seemed to have some complexity problem I haven't figured out yet and kept dying with unknown node_type() errors. Not sure where to go from here; and Htmldoc: this seems to work fine on basic HTML but has almost no support for CSS whatsoever so you have to do everything in HTML (I didn't realize it was still 2001 in Htmldoc-land...) so it's useless to me. I tried a Windows app called Html2Pdf Pilot that actually did a pretty decent job but I need something that at a minimum runs on Linux and ideally runs on-demand via PHP on the Webserver. I really can't believe I'm this stuck. Am I missing something?
