  • functions inside or outside jquery document ready

    - by Hans
    Up until now I just put all my jQuery goodness inside the $(document).ready() function, including simple functions used in certain user interactions. But functions that don´t require the DOM document to be loaded or are only called afterwards anyway, can be placed outside the $(document).ready() as well. Consider for example a very simple validation function such as: function hexvalidate(color) { // Validates 3-digit or 6-digit hex color codes var reg = /^(#)?([0-9a-fA-F]{3})([0-9a-fA-F]{3})?$/; return reg.test(color); } The function is only called from within the $(document).ready() function though. What is best practice (syntax, speed); placing such a function inside or outside the jquery document ready function?

  • Checking if radio buttons are checked in Firefox

    - by Andrew Song
    On my site, I have two checkboxes created in my ASP.NET MVC view like so: Html.RadioButton("check", "true", "true" == (string) ViewData["someKey"], new { id = "check1"}); Html.RadioButton("check", "false", "false" == (string) ViewData["someKey"], new { id = "check2"}); I am positive that ViewData["someKey"] has the value "true" in it. In my JS init function, I perform the following check: alert($('#check1').is(':checked') + " " + $('#check2').is(':checked')); In Firefox (and only Firefox), my alert dialog will show the following (it works as expected in every other browser): Initial page load: true false Normal refresh via Ctrl + R: false false Refresh skipping cache via Ctrl + Shift + R: true false I have tried many different methods of looking at the checkbox value, including $('#check1').attr('checked') without success. If I examine the HTML in Firebug, I can see that the first radio button has the property checked="checked" in it. Why is the checkbox value changing in FF when I refresh, and how can I mitigate this? Since this seems to be a FF-only bug, how can I change my code to make it work? This SO question seemed to ask something similar, but none of the proposed solutions seem to work in this case. Edit: I should also point out that when the radio button is rendered after the refresh in FF, it's not actually being displayed as checked either, despite what the HTML is telling me. Edit2: Adding raw HTML as per request <input id="check1" type="radio" value="True" name="check" checked="checked"/> <input id="check2" type="radio" value="False" name="check"/>

  • JQuery selector in variable

    - by nagut
    I wanted to ask about using selector from a variable first I have: function check() { $('.info input, .info select').each(function(n, element){ if ($(element).val()=='') alert('empty'); }); } and called it in $('input')change(check); and they worked fine. But now I want to pass some value to the function to make it dynamic, like $('input')change(check('.info')); and changed the function to function check(sel) { $(sel +' input, '+ sel + ' select').each(function(n, element){ if ($(element).val()=='') alert('empty'); }); } but it doesn't work. Any help please.. Thanks, nagut

  • lexer skips a token

    - by Eugene Strizhok
    I am trying to do basic ANTLR-based scanning. I have a problem with a lexer not matching wanted tokens. lexer grammar DefaultLexer; ALPHANUM : (LETTER | DIGIT)+; ACRONYM : LETTER '.' (LETTER '.')+; HOST : ALPHANUM (('.' | '-') ALPHANUM)+; fragment LETTER : UNICODE_CLASS_LL | UNICODE_CLASS_LM | UNICODE_CLASS_LO | UNICODE_CLASS_LT | UNICODE_CLASS_LU; fragment DIGIT : UNICODE_CLASS_ND | UNICODE_CLASS_NL; For the grammar above, hello. world string given as an input results in world only. Whereas I would expect to get both hello and world. What am I missing? Thanks.

  • Java: Preventing array going out of bounds.

    - by Troy
    I'm working on a game of checkers, if you want to read more about you can view it here; http://minnie.tuhs.org/I2P/Assessment/assig2.html When I am doing my test to see if the player is able to get to a certain square on the grid (i.e. +1 +1, +1 -1 .etc) from it's current location, I get an java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException error. This is the code I am using to make the move; public static String makeMove(String move, int playerNumber) { // variables to contain the starting and destination coordinates, subtracting 1 to match array size int colStart = move.charAt(1) - FIRSTCOLREF - 1; int rowStart = move.charAt(0) - FIRSTROWREF - 1; int colEnd = move.charAt(4) - FIRSTCOLREF - 1; int rowEnd = move.charAt(3) - FIRSTROWREF - 1; // variable to contain which player is which char player, enemy; if (playerNumber==1) { player= WHITEPIECE; enemy= BLACKPIECE; } else { player= BLACKPIECE; enemy= WHITEPIECE; } // check that the starting square contains a player piece if (grid [ colStart ] [ rowStart ] == player) { // check that the player is making a diagonal move if (grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] == grid [ (colStart++) ] [ (rowEnd++) ] && grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] == grid [ (colStart--) ] [ (rowEnd++) ] && grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] == grid [ (colStart++) ] [ (rowEnd--) ] && grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] == grid [ (colStart--) ] [ (rowEnd--) ]) { // check that the destination square is free if (grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] == BLANK) { grid [ colStart ] [ rowStart ] = BLANK; grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] = player; } } // check if player is jumping over a piece else if (grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] == grid [ (colStart+2) ] [ (rowEnd+2) ] && grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] == grid [ (colStart-2) ] [ (rowEnd+2) ] && grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] == grid [ (colStart+2) ] [ (rowEnd-2) ] && grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] == grid [ (colStart-2) ] [ (rowEnd-2) ]) { // check that the piece in between contains an enemy if ((grid [ (colStart++) ] [ (rowEnd++) ] == enemy ) && (grid [ (colStart--) ] [ (rowEnd++) ] == enemy ) && (grid [ (colStart++) ] [ (rowEnd--) ] == enemy ) && (grid [ (colStart--) ] [ (rowEnd--) ] == enemy )) { // check that the destination is free if (grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] == BLANK) { grid [ colStart ] [ rowStart ] = BLANK; grid [ colEnd ] [ rowEnd ] = player; } } } } I'm not sure how I can prevent the error from happening, what do you recommend?

  • Aes key length significance/implications

    - by cppdev
    Hi, I am using a AES algorithm in my application for encrypting plain text. I am trying to use a key which is a six digit number. But as per the AES spec, the key should be minimum sixteen bytes in length. I am planning to append leading zeros to my six digit number to make it a 16 byte and then use this as a key. Would it have any security implications ? I mean will it make my ciphertext more prone to attacks. Please help.

  • Sharepoint publishing cache- counter missing on WFE(Object Caching)

    - by Ryan
    I want to tune object caching in my sharepoint environment. The way to do is check sharepoint publishing cache counter through perfmon on your farm. I have one application server and 2 WFE but when I am trying to create counter for my WFE its showing Sharepoint publishing cache but I am not able to add any instance of it but when I select my application server I can see all the instances. But If I want to check publishing hit ratio i need to run this on WFE also ...correct me if I m wrong? How to resolve this issue? Also, how to check the hit ratio as our site is not go-live so we don't get enuf users to hit the site to check this thing. Does it means that I can tune it up only my site go live and real load will get on it. Thanks, Amit

  • Which open source repository or version control systems store files' original mtime, ctime and atime

    - by sampablokuper
    I want to create a personal digital archive. I want to be able to check digital files (some several years old, some recent, some not yet created) into that archive and have them preserved, along with their metadata such as ctime, atime and mtime. I want to be able to check these files out of that archive, modify their contents and commit the changes back to the archive, while keeping the earlier commits and their metadata intact. I want the archive to be very reliable and secure, and able to be backed up remotely. I want to be able to check files in and out of the archive from PCs running Linux, Mac OS X 10.5+ or Win XP+. I want to be able to check files in and out of the archive from PCs with RAM capacities lower than the size of the files. E.g. I want to be able to check in/out a 13GB file using a PC with 2GB RAM. I thought Subversion could do all this, but apparently it can't. (At least, it couldn't a couple of years ago and as far as I know it still can't; correct me if I'm wrong.) Is there a libre VCS or similar capable of all these things? Thanks for your help.

  • Powershell finding services using a cmdlet dll

    - by bartonm
    I need to upgrade a dll assemblies, written in C#, in our installation. Before I replace the DLL file, I want to check if the file has a lock and if so display a message. How do I implement this in powershell? I was thinking iterate through Get-Process checking dependencies. Solved. I iterated through list looking a file path match. function IsCaradigmPowershellDLLFree() { # The list of DLLs to check for locks by running processes. $DllsToCheckForLocks = "$env:ProgramFiles\Caradigm Platform\System 3.0\Platform\PowerShell\Caradigm.Platform.Powershell.dll", "$env:ProgramFiles\Caradigm Platform\System 3.0\Platform\PowerShell\Caradigm.Platform.Powershell.InternalPlatformSetup.dll"; # Assume true, then check all process dependencies $result = $true; # Iterate through each process and check module dependencies foreach ($p in Get-Process) { # Iterate through each dll used in a given process foreach ($m in Get-Process -Name $p.ProcessName -Module -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue) { # Check if dll dependency match any DLLs in list foreach ($dll in $DllsToCheckForLocks) { # Compare the fully-qualified file paths, # if there's a match then a lock exists. if ( ($m.FileName.CompareTo($dll) -eq 0) ) { $pName = $p.ProcessName.ToString() Write-Error "$dll is locked by $pName. This dll must be have zero locked prior to upgrade. Stop this service to release this lock on $m1." $result = $false; } } } } return $result; }

  • Have I checked every consecutive subset of this list?

    - by Nathan
    I'm trying to solve problem 50 on Project Euler. Don't give me the answer or solve it for me, just try to answer this specific question. The goal is to find the longest sum of consecutive primes that adds to a prime below one million. I use wrote a sieve to find all the primes below n, and I have confirmed that it is correct. Next, I am going to check the sum of each subset of consecutive primes using the following method: I have a empty list sums. For each prime number, I add it to each element in sums and check the new sum, then I append the prime to sums. Here it is in python primes = allPrimesBelow(1000000) sums = [] for p in primes: for i in range(len(sums)): sums[i] += p check(sums[i]) sums.append(p) I want to know if I have called check() for every sum of two or more consecutive primes below one million The problem says that there is a prime, 953, that can be written as the sum of 21 consecutive primes, but I am not finding it.

  • Regular Expression to return the contents of a HTML tag received as a string of text

    - by Nathan Hernandez
    I have a string in my code that I receive that contains some html tags. It is not part of the HTML page being displayed so I cannot grab the html tag contents using the DOM (i.e. document.getElementById('tag id').firstChild.data); So, for example within the string of text would appear a tag like this: 12 My question is how would I use a regular expression to access the '12' numeric digit in this example? This quantity could be any number of digits (i.e. it is not always a double digit). I have tried some regular expressions, but always end up getting the full span tag returned along with the contents. I only want the '12' in the example above, not the surrounding tag. The id of the tags will always be 'myQty' in the string of text I receive. Thanks in advance for any help!

  • How to stop the submission of the form using JQUERY?

    - by Param-Ganak
    Hello frineds! I have a form which have many check boxes in it. User will check one or many checkboxes and click on Delete button which is actually submit button then the respective records for selected check boxes are get deleted. Required operation steps are as follows:- When user selects one or more checkboxes and clicks the submit button then a JQUERY code is get executed in which It should checks that if any check box is selected; if not; then is displays alert message and do not submit the form. If it founds that one or more checkboxes are selected it should ask user for his/her confirmation using confirm alert box about the confirmation of deletion. If user press YES button on confirm box then it should submit the form using javascript submit statement. If user pressed the NO button then it should unchecks the checked selected checkboxes and should not submit the form. This is the JQUERY code I had written. $(document).ready(function (){ $("#id_delete").click(function(){ var temp=$("#id_frm input:checkbox:checked"); var len=temp.length; if(len==0) { alert("Please select the order."); } else { if(confirm("Are you sure to delete the selected orders.")) { $("#id_frm").submit(); } else { temp.checked=false; } } }); }); Problems: This code is not working properly. Here 1. It submits form when there is no check box is selected. 2. It submits the form when user press NO button on confirmation dialog box. Please guide me friends in this problem.

  • Cron expressions: leading zeros ok?

    - by JimBurnell
    A quartz-scheduled process did not kick off last evening. The only thing that looks like it MIGHT be off is that, in one entry: 0 00 23 13,15 APR ? The "minutes" field is specified as a 2-digit 00 rather than a single-digit 0. I can't find any definitive cron documentation saying whether or not this would cause a problem. I can't test it again until the off-hours. Anyone know for sure if this could be a problem? if so, it's rather a silly one.

    Is there an elegant way to check which port you deployed a ruby on rails application using mongrel? I could not find a directive (i.e. such as #{RAILS_ROOT} which contains the root directory of the application) that I can use to perform a check. I need this to do a check since I am deploying the same application on different ports and I need the app to do different things according to the port that is being accessed. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks
