  • How two use 2 subnets on one network

    I have some servers at a colocation. They've given us an IP range,subnet,and gateway. Now we have run out of IP's and they've given us a new range of IP's but with a different subnet and gateway. We have a Juniper NetScreen firewall and a load balancer, and I am not sure how to proceed in order to be able to use these new IPS that are on a different subnet. Do I need to setup a new VLAN? on our firewall? I tried adding one of the new IP's on one of our servers, with the new subnet and gateway. I could ping the alternate gateway, but could not ping the assigned IP from outside or from inside.

  • Associate email account with "Personal Folders" Outlook data file?

    In the process of migrating email servers I've run into an interesting problem: In Outlook 2007 you have the default "Personal Folders" item. This contains the email for the account that was origionally setup with Outlook. My issue is that I have deleted the account associated with that and created an entirely new account. So now I have "Personal Folders" and "[email protected]". However I can't delete "Personal Folders". nor associate "[email protected]" with that PST file. Deleteting it in Outlook (Tools Account Settings Data Files) gave the error "The default data file cannot be removed, because it is your default delivery location. After you have selected a different default delivery location, your current file can be removed." Deleting the PST file itself (outlook.pst) made outlook demand where its default file . would be. So I selected my "[email protected]" PST file and restarted Outlook. Now "Personal Folders" is called "[email protected]", but I still have a duplicate account called this. Which is bad. Worse, my email is associated with the duplicate PST, not the default. How can I associate my email with my default PST or delete the default PST entirely? Luckily I have backu

    In Wikipedia it sais: A mail transfer agent (MTA) using greylisting will "temporarily reject" any email from a sender it does not recognize. If the mail is legitimate the originating server will, after a delay, try again and, if sufficient time has elapsed, the email will be accepted. But how can I find out how long these delays are on my server and on the receiving side? My goal is to speed up email-traffic with partners using greylisting too and speed up the receiving of the first email someone sends to customers on my server.

  • Does Apache 2.2 (windows) have any default bandwidth limit?

    I'm running Apache on a server in cloud (Windows server 2008 R2 on VMware, 1 Gbps of BW, http://95.110.164.61 ). I'm streaming many live DVB MPEG Transport Stream, precompressed in loop, (not flash) generated by VLC on port 640xx and then reverse proxied by Apache on port 80. The server's firewall is open for VLC and Apache on all ports. Above 1.5 Mbps the reproduction is affected by continous stop & go. Please note that if you request a stream generated by VLC directly at http://95.110.164.61:64087/mpg2_6.4 you see a correct stream, while if you request http://95.110.164.61/mpg2_6.4 you do not. I know that Flash streaming Server uses Apache to stream on port 80 (and it works). I'm not an expert with Apache, can anyone tell me if any "special" module is required to increase the bandwidth?

  • Windows 7 boot animation slows down startup by default?

    I just upgraded my HDD to an SSD drive. I am running a completely fresh install and enjoy the short boot time. I tweaked the startup to be as fast as I could by removing unneeded apps and such. Nor am I running a solid desktop background (which causes a 30-sec startup delay). I have a 2.1ghz 64 bit laptop with 4 gigs of ram, so it's not a liquid-cooled speed monster, but I checked some super high end PC boot vids on YouTube and noticed that they startup in almost the same time as my machine. I also noticed that the glowing Windows 7 animation plays all the way no matter how fast the PC is. I turned off the animation, and the startup time is unchanged. I turned on verbose startup info and noticed that it runs until the very end, where it looks like it just sits there for no reason waiting for something to happen for a few seconds. So now I think that the Windows 7 startup animation has a timer built into it that forces the computer to wait for no other reason than to play the full animation. Super-fast XP boot vids on YouTube seem to start much faster (and not just because they "have less to load"). Am I imagining things? My question is: How can I turn off not just the animation, but the timer for the animation. Here is a vid that tipped me off, I have no relation to the poster.   • There is a way to change the SkyDrive default path in Windows 8.1?

    The deeper integration with SkyDrive is truly beneficial, but my laptop has a somewhat small primary drive (an 128 Gb MSATA SSD), and when possible, i try to move installations and other folders(like Documents and Downloads) to the secondary, 1 Tb drive. But i couldn't find any option to change the SkyDrive folder (it used to be in the secondary drive prior to the upgrade). Anyone have some idea how to change it? Thanks in advance! Edit 1: I've looked for an option to change this folder, to no avail. Really, it could only be a problem if i choose the option to keep my files offline, but it is exactly the option that i was looking for. Edit 2: Trying to install the old desktop app, the installer just quits silently.

    We have a Windows application that reads and writes some data for all users. We place it at %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\OurProgram*.* We now encounter a few cases in larger companies, where users do not have write permission to %ALLUSERSPROFILE%. Most of these cases are running Windows 7. The problem does not occur on a normal desktop installation of Windows 7 though. What is the recommended policy for this location? I have not found any "official" information about this. Is there a different location where all users have write permission?

My question now: How can I change the Apache configuration in a way that PHP uses a certain new version of the library?     With Outlook before the 2010 version, it was possible to specify any path for the signatures. With Outlook 2010, the only way is to use those stored into C:\Documents and Setting\UserName\Local Settings\Application Datas\Microsoft\Signature\ I'd like to point the signatures to a network share. Allowing us to modify the signatures into the share, instead of login on every computers each time we are asked to modify them (and this is quite often because the signatures contain logos about current events). We currently use a script to copy the signatures from the share to the local disk when users login.

    I use Visual Studio 2010 Professional at work and up until a couple of weeks ago I have had no problems. But now whenever I open an instance of VS 2010 it defaults to horizontal split. I never split my windows horizontally, so this is very annoying. It happens consistently, every time on every project. Here is how VS2010 looked before I closed the window: I close it and reopen in that project, and: Arg! The only plugin I use is ReSharper, in case it's relevant.

  • Can I regenerate the rsa key for SSH access to a Cisco router? Or should I completely erase the SSH config?

    I have a production 2691 that I administer via telnet. I'd like to change that to SSH. Looking at the config, it looks like there have been keys generated in the past. I think the history here is SSH was set up, they had issues connecting, and fell back to telnet. There are a number of crypto entries, including the following: crypto pki trustpoint Gateway-2691.xxx.com enrollment selfsigned subject-name cn=IOS-Gateway-2691.xxx.com revocation-check none rsakeypair Gateway-2691.xxx.com I've also got this going... Gateway-2691#sh ip ssh SSH Disabled - version 1.99 %Please create RSA keys (of atleast 768 bits size) to enable SSH v2. Authentication timeout: 120 secs; Authentication retries: 3 Gateway-2691# My question is simply, can I run crypto key generate rsa again to set it up again? Is there a way to negate or no all of the previous ssh config so that I can start fresh there? I may be asking the wrong questions, as I'm learning here. As for the SSH how-to, I'm sure I can find information in many places. I'm just basically wondering if I need to start fresh, or if I can pick up where the last attempt at SSH config left off.

    I have an ASUS ENGT440/DI1GD5 video card which has three outputs: DVI, D-Sub and HDMI. I am using both D-Sub and DVI, but my main monitor is connected to the DVI output. Everything works fine except for the text mode. The card somehow uses the D-Sub output in text mode when both monitors are connected (when I disconnect the D-Sub output and leave only the primary monitor connected to the DVI output, it's being used correctly). How do I make the card use only the DVI output (or both) in text mode?

  • Something keeps changing the default permissions of my settings.php file for a web site on Linux

    I keep changing the file permissions for the file /var/www/html/websitename/settings.php to 775 and within 15 minutes or so it automatically changes back 555. The owner of the file is "apache" and the group ownership is for our Linux Developers just like all of the other files which are not having this issue. Obviously there must be some sort of process running that is automatically changing the file permissions (apache maybe?) but I haven't been able to figure out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    My computer is connected to my secondary router that's running the 192.168.42.0/24 network and my computer also has a route that directs anything on that network to the router, but for anything on that network other than the router itself, it get's the ICMP response of Reply from 192.168.42.194: Destination host unreachable. (with 192.168.42.194 being my computer). So, why is my own computer sending that to ping or tracert when I have the route of 192.168.42.0 with the mask of 255.255.255.0? An IP address of 192.168.42.2 surely fits into that route. If I explicitly add a route for the IP address i am trying to access, it works, like: route add 192.168.42.2 mask 255.255.255.255 192.168.42.1 (the 192.168.42.1 right after mask is gateway, or the device to send the packet to so it can route it further), but why wont it work for the implicit route that's automatically on the table? I disabled my firewall, too (I use Comodo if anyone thinks this still serves as a problem). I'v even tried explicitly adding the gateway of 192.168.42.1 to the 192.168.42.0/24 route instead of it routing through 0.0.0.0's gateway, which is what On-link does. but that didn't work either, so it's not a gateway specification problem. If the host was really unreachable, it would be the router's IP address (192.168.42.1) sending that to me... This network is all of my creation, so there's no problem such as an administrator locking me out, because i am the administrator.

I also have a SSO system (Ping Identity... technology similar to Microsoft ADFS), where it leverages the AD Schema attribute: CustomAttribute1 to store information needed for SSO.     Hi there. I've installed proftpd on my debian box but I'm having having some trouble with the configuration. In my proftpd.conf I've added; DefaultRoot ~ !ftp_special This works fine in that all users except members of ftp-special are unable to navigate outside of their home folder. However, I want users that are members of ftp-special to enter a special home folder when logging on to the ftp server but at the same time I want them to be able to navigate the entire server. Right now, if a user that is a member of ftp-special logs on his entry-point is the root ( / ). Thanks in advance.

    Ubuntu keeps detecting my keyboard layout as Romanian. It almost always does this on a reboot and some times on waking from sleep. Some times it just randomly changes back to Romanian while the computer is on. I always set it back to "USA" in the keyboard preferences and delete the Romanian layout. What files configure this in Ubuntu? I looked in xorg.conf and did not find any keyboard settings. How can I set this to USA permanently? I have a laptop with a typical US layout built in keyboard and I also have an apple keyboard that is also US layout connected via USB. I have run other distributions on this same setup before and never had this happen.

After setting up a few <VirtualHost>s in apache, I'd like to configure the _defualt_ ServerName so that it returns the 404 message. I.e., unless some explicitly available domain is specified in the Host http header, return 404. (Ideally something more direct than pointing to a now-nonexistent directory.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Every time I want to save some image I paste into the Paint application, it chooses a BMP/DIB format (which is the worst for saving things from the clipboard). How can I hack this Windows pbrush application into defaulting to a JPEG format save always? If it matters I am using Windows XP SP3 and Paint 5.1 at the moment. But, I thought the hack would be generic, and I'd like to do this across all my Windows machines.

    I recently got a Mac for use at home and really like the feature whereby an app is minimized when you double-click the top of the window. I've gotten so hooked on this behavior that, without thinking about it, I expect it to work on Windows (only to be quickly reminded that it doesn't). Is there a way to change the way Windows handles the double-clicking of the top of an app's window so that the app window will be minimized to the task bar rather than maximized?
