    Hi, i have a pictures table : pictures(articleid,pictureurl) And an articles table : articles(id,title,category) So, briefly, every article has a picture, and i link pictures with article using articleid column. now i want to select 5 pictures of articles in politic category. i think that can be done using IN but i can't figure out how to do it. Note: Please only one query, because i can do it by selecting articles firstly then getting the pictures. Thanks

  • Php script running as scheduled task hangs - help!

    Hi guys, I've built a php script that runs from the command line. It opens a connection into a pop3 email account and downloads all the emails and writes them to a database, and deletes them once downloaded. I have this script being called from the commandline by a bat file. in turn I have created a scheduled task which invokes the bat file every 5 minutes. The thing is that I have set the time out to zero for the fact that at times there could be emails with large attachments and the script actually downloads the attachments and stores them as raw files offline and the no timeout is so that the script doesnt die out during downloading. I've found that the program hangs sometimes and its a bit annoying at that - it always hangs are one point i.e. when negotiating the connection and getting connected to the mail server. And because the timeout is set to zero it seems to stay stuck up in taht position. And because of that the task is not run as its technically hung up. I want that the program should not timeout when downloading emails - however at the points where it is negotiating a connection or trying to connect to the mailserver there should be a timeout only at that point itself and not the rest of the program execution. How do I do this :(

  • xpath help substring expression

    Hi i have a document from which i am trying to extract a date. But the problem is within the node along with the date their is some text too. Something like <div class="postHeader"> Posted on July 20, 2009 9:22 PM PDT </div> From this tag i just want the date item not the Posted on text. something like ./xhtml:div[@class = 'postHeader'] is getting everything. and to be precise, the document i have is basically a nodelist of this elements for eg i will get 10 nodes of these elements with different date values but to be worse the problem is sometime inside these tags some random other tags also pops us like anchors etc. Can i write a universal expath which will just get the date out of the div tag?

I m a java beginner and I cant see how to find the error.     I have this scenario in most of the WindowsForms having grids I have a sequence of code which is similar - AddNewRow(in grid),CreateNewEntity,notifyUser,few other steps Now, I want to use a template kind of pattern.But,my issue is with CreateEntity method since sometimes it is passed a parameter which is different depending on the type of object being created.Should I make createentity accept an "object" type,and cast when the parameter is to be used.What other way can I tackle this design issue? Also,CreateEntity returns the object being created.

    In goofing around with some F# (via MonoDevelop), I have written a routine which lists files in a directory with one thread: let rec loop (path:string) = Array.append ( path |> Directory.GetFiles ) ( path |> Directory.GetDirectories |> Array.map loop |> Array.concat ) And then an asynchronous version of it: let rec loopPar (path:string) = Array.append ( path |> Directory.GetFiles ) ( let paths = path |> Directory.GetDirectories if paths <> [||] then [| for p in paths -> async { return (loopPar p) } |] |> Async.Parallel |> Async.RunSynchronously |> Array.concat else [||] ) On small directories, the asynchronous version works fine. On bigger directories (e.g. many thousands of directories and files), the asynchronous version seems to hang. What am I missing? I know that creating thousands of threads is never going to be the most efficient solution -- I only have 8 CPUs -- but I am baffled that for larger directories the asynchronous function just doesn't respond (even after a half hour). It doesn't visibly fail, though, which baffles me. Is there a thread pool which is exhausted? How do these threads actually work?

  • MySQL Need some help with a query

    I'm trying to fix some data by adding a new field. I have a backup from a few months ago and I have restored this database to my server. I'm looking at table called pads, its primary key is PadID and the field of importance is called RemoveMeDate. In my restored (older) database there is less records with an actual date set in RemoveMeDate. My control date is 2001-01-01 00:00:00 meaning that the record is not hidden aka visible. What I need to do is select all the records from the older database / table with the control date and join with those from the newer db /table where the control date is not set. I hope I've explained that correctly. I'll try again, with numbers. I have 80,000 visible records in the older table (with control date set) and 30,000 in the newer db/table. I need to select the 50,000 from the old database, to perform an update query.     I have a student and faculty table. The primary key for student is studendID (SID) and faculty's primary key is facultyID, naturally. Student has an advisor column and a requested advisor column, which are foreign key to faculty. That's simple enough, right? However, now I have to throw in dates. I want to be able to view who their advisor was for a certain quarter (such as 2009 Winter) and who they had requested. I am not sure how these new table(s) will look like. Will there be a year table with three columns that are Fall, Spring and Winter? And what will the Fall, Spring, Winter table have? I am new to the art of tables, so this is baffling me... Also, I feel I should clarify how the site works so far now. Admin can approve student requests, and what happens is that the student's current advisor gets overwritten with their request. However, I think I should not do that anymore, right?
