  • Typing in web forms lagging - output very slow!

    Hi all, Just recently, typing in forms on the internet has become rediculously slow. I'm on an oldish PC with low memory (1gb) and amd athlon XP 2800+ (2.08 ghz) and get an awesome 1.0 rating from windows :) Thing is though - it only just started happening. Was fine last week. Also, It doesn't only happen when heaps of other processes are open/running. I can have only one IE window up, after fresh reboot, and still happens. Any ideas why?

  • Load program to one side of monitor in Windows 7

    This is a question to enhance the feature on Windows 7, where you drag the screen to one side and it docks to that side of the screen. Is there a way to have it so when I load a program, it knows that I always like it docked on the right side, so it just loads on the right side? And I don't have to drag it to the right. It will be done for Internet Explorer, so, if there is no setting on the Shortcut for this, can it be programmed into the browser?

Then i want to know that if the internet is connected then is it connected through wifi or not.     We used to be able to add a custom search provider in Internet Explorer to search any site that put search words in the query string (such as in StackExchange sites). The page where that it was done was http://www.ieaddons.com/gb/createsearch.aspx However, this page now redirects to a generic IE Gallery page. When I upgraded from IE8 to IE9, my StackOverflow provider carried over, but I recently reset my browser settings and am not able to get it back. Can we easily create a custom search provider?

    Hi, There's a class 'Car' with brand and model as properties. I have a list of items of this class List<Car> myCars. I need to represent in a JSP website 2 ComboBox, one for brand and another for model, that when you select the brand, in the model list only appear the ones from that brand. I don't have cable in my area and don't want to go with Sky. What options do I have, if any? UPDATE My TV has an HDMI connection. I have been using Indefero for project management etc. for some time, but I found that Indefero limitations are too big for my team. I'm searching project-management software that best suites this needs: Open-Source, but I can consider commercial apps GIT integration is mandatory, best if it can support multiple repos per project Time-tracking, good if it can have Gannt chart connected with issues etc. Issue, milestone, task tracking Good if it can be integrated with Gitosis, or have similar repository access control It must have an option, to setup on our own server Markdown syntax support is mandatory (or easy way to install plugin for this etc.) Issue tagging will be and advantage It will be used by developers team by 99% of time, but it has to have some simple interface, that clients can fill up bug reports etc. per project. It does not have to fill all this needs, but good if it can :) What options do You know, and can recommend?

  • Classic ASP vs. ASP.NET encryption options

    I'm working on a web site where the new pages are ASP.NET and the legacy pages are Classic ASP. Being new to development in the Windows env, I've been studying the latest technology, i.e. .NET and I become like a deer in headlights when ever legacy issues come up regarding COM objects. Security on the website is an abomination, but I've easily encrypted the connectionStrings in the web.config file per http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/021506-1.aspx based on DPAPI machine mode. I understand this approach is not the most secure, but it's better than nothing which is what it was for the ASP.NET pages. Now, I question how to do similar encryption for the connection strings used by the Classic ASP pages. A complicating factor is that the web sited is hosted where I do not have admin permissions or even command line access, just FTP. Moreover I want to avoid managing the key. My research has found: DPAPI with COM interop. Seems like this should already be available, but the only thing I could find discussing this is CyptoUtility (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc163884.aspx) which is not installed on the hosting server. There are plenty of other third party COM objects, e.g. Crypto from Dalun Software http://www.dalun.com, but these aren't on the hosted server either, and they look to me to require you to do some kind of key management. There is CAPICOM on the hosted server, but M$ has deprecated it and many report it is not the easiest to use. It is not clear to me whether I can avoid key management with CAPICOM similar to using DPAPI for ASP.NET. If anyone happens to know, please clue me in. I could write an web service in ASP.NET and have the classic ASP pages use it to get the decrypted connection strings and then store those in an application variable. I would not need to use SSL since I could use localhost and nothing would be sent over the internet. In the simpliest form I could implement what someone termed a poor man's version based on a simple XML stream, however, I really was looking to avoid any development since I find it hard to believe there is not a simple solution for Classic ASP like there is for ASP.NET. Maybe I'm missing some options... Recommendations are requested...

  • More GCC link time issues: undefined reference to main

    Hi Guys, I'm writing software for a Cortex-A8 processor and I have to write some ARM assembly code to access specific registers. I'm making use of the gnu compilers and related tool chains, these tools are installed on the processor board(Freescale i.MX515) with Ubuntu. I make a connection to it from my host PC(Windows) using WinSCP and the PuTTY terminal. As usual I started with a simple C project having main.c and functions.s. I compile the main.c using GCC, assemble the functions.s using as and link the generated object files using once again GCC, but I get strange errors during this process. An important finding - Meanwhile, I found out that my assembly code may have some issues because when I individually assemble it using the command as -o functions.o functions.s and try running the generated functions.o using ./functions.o command, the bash shell is failing to recognize this file as an executable(on pressing tab functions.o is not getting selected/PuTTY is not highlighting the file). Can anyone suggest whats happening here? Are there any specific options I have to send, to GCC during the linking process? The errors I see are strange and beyond my understanding, I don't understand to what the GCC is referring. I'm pasting here the contents of main.c, functions.s, the Makefile and the list of errors.   • Weird WLAN connection

    I assembled my first computer on my own. As I realised it had no WLAN (AsRock Z77 Extreme 4m) I bought a WLAN stick (ZyXel NWD 2105), plugged it in, started the setup from the CD and it worked, until I restarted the PC. That's when the problems started. The stick is able to connect to the router (P-660HN-F1Z) and the connection is stable, but not the internet access. In estimately 1 minute intervals there might be a short connection timeframe and dropbox or windows update are able to download some data, but as soon as I try to open a website the internet access is away. Note that the connection to the router does not shut down and remains stable at around 80-90%. The problem is definetly located on my pc, because with my laptop and phone the connection is stable and fast. Because I was so pissed off, I bought a EW-7612PIn V2 (PCI-E WLAN adapter), same problem. Now the weird thing is, if I don't use the PC for about 2 days, start it up, there is internet access (happened with both the stick and the PCI-E card). A bit slow, but it does not get away just like that, until I shut it down. Then, no matter how many times I restart, it won't come back. I googled a lot but now I'm at the end with my latin. Has anyone had a similar problem and resolved it?   • IE 8 plays sound, Ulead pop-up message appears, crash

    I'm experiencing a problem on a new PC using Outlook Web Access in Internet Explorer 8. When OWA plays a sound, a message box appears: the about box for Ulead MP3 codec. When I click OK to dismiss the box, I get a message that IE has stopped responding and Windows eventually has to force the browser window closed. This is apparently not an isolated incident, occurring on computers from different manufacturers and on other websites that play sound (such as AOL's Webmail). The only "fix" I've found on discussion boards is to prevent the website from playing sound in the first place. That's not a fix, that's just avoiding the trigger. I'd like to know what's causing this and uninstall it or repair it, so the computer can work like it's supposed to. Since Super User users are smarter than the average bear, I thought I'd have better luck here.

    I want to add a file on my local drive (C:\something.html) to the Trusted Zone in IE8 (my OS is Windows Server 2003). The Add Sites Dialog box, does not seem to take entries for files on the local drive. I have tried: file://C:\something.html file:\\localhost\c$\something.html I have seen other solutions (on superuser and elsewhere) such Mark of Web, that allow your local file to be treated as if it were part of the internet zone, but I want to add my file to the Trusted Zone. How can I do this? Thanks.

  • Setting Proxy Server for IE 10 on Windows 8 using pac file and Group Policy

    We currently use group policy to configure a proxy server PAC file for Windows XP and Windows 7 computers on our network. We now are starting to get requests for Windows 8, but have noticed that our current GPO does not work for setting the proxy server on Windows 8 clients or server 2012. Is it possible to do this using a 2008 R2 domain controller or would we need to update our domain to a 2012 server? I found a reference to creating new GPO settings for "Internet Explorer 10 and 11" and vague references to using RSAT on Windows 8 to set IE 10 settings via preferences, but nothing that talks about using group policy to manage proxy settings.

  • Need to open links in new tab in ie8 !

    I have a sidebar (right sided iframe) and when i click on a link in it, it opens a new window in IE8, (in firefox it open a new tab). What do i need to do to open links in IE8 in a new tab. I already set the Tools-Internet Options-Settings- 'Always open pop-ups in a new tab' and 'A new tab in the current window' open in new tab but still doesn't work. My links are pretty simple, what am i missing ? exemple: text. Also some site are saying to register Regsvr32 actxprxy.dll to fix this problem, still doesn't work. And i want this to work with a simple click, no 'right-click-open in new tab' option. I also hope i won't get the 'can't change how ie8 works' answer. ;)

  • Receiving SSL certificate errors only from some clients

    I am receiving SSL certificate errors from Chrome (latest version (23.0.1271.52 beta-m) and Internet Explorer 6 (not used) on my home desktop machine (Windows XP SP2). In Firefox, it works fine on this PC. My laptop and work desktop (both Windows 7) work fine. Most SSL website checking sites report that the certificate and chain up to the root CA are setup correctly, but I have come across 2 that that say I have an invalid certificate but don't give much information on what part is failing. I know it used to work properly on this desktop (in Chrome and IE) in the past, but I'm not sure what has changed that is causing the site to fail in these browsers.   • Delayed startup of network icon (wi-fi)

    When my Windows 7 Starter netbook boots up and after everything is loaded, it takes about five minutes before the network icon near the clock becomes functional. When there's an available wi-fi signal (which automatically connects to my netbook as preconfigured) after the boot, my netbook seamlessly connects to it even if the network icon cannot be clicked or accessed. (The icon is shown to be loading for about five minutes.) During this time, when I go to Network and Sharing Center, it takes the same time to load. So even while the icon and the Center cannot be accessed, I can surf the Internet. When my netbook was still new, it didn't have this issue. How do I fix this?

    So what I need to know is how find out who has been visiting what websites when through the router. It is similar to being able to History on browsers, but people can clear their history, or use Incognito mode. However, surely any data would be sent through the router so even if the person did clear their history or use incognito mode, you would be able to see what they had sent through the router, and what the internet had sent back. Is there any way to view all the connections that the router manages, and store all the data that it sends and receives and put them into, for example, a log file so I could view which computer had viewed what website at what time?

  • IE "About:Tab" page hijacked

    Hey folks, Client o' mine, running Windows 7 64-bit, installed Kiwee Toolbar and then uninstalled it. The software is pretty much gone except for one last thing: The About:Tab IE page redirects to a Kiwee search page. I have temporarily disabled the "New Tab" page via Internet Explorer's options, but it annoys me. I have scanned with multiple tools. Spyware Doctor purports to removed it, but they want money to remove it. I would buy it -if- I could be certain it would fix the problem. I've also searched the registry and the filesystem for instances of the program, plus I've removed Kiwee manually via the many manual uninstalls out there. IE's AboutURLs registry entry still points to res://ieframe.dll/tabswelcome.htm and if I enter that URL into IE, the correct New Tab page comes up. Any help appreciated.
