If the application is kept on Citrix server, can it be viewed in windows OS machines?
Will the same be viewable via iPad?

I just build a website that works good on any browser even ipad but in Oper ai noticed a weird thing:
the website is built with a div layer on top zindez:999, body is overflow:hidden, and you cant scroll, but underneath the div there is a long text that goes way underneath the viewport...
the strage thing is that even if any browser i wasable to keep this effect in Oepra if I use the mousewheel you can kepp scrolling...!
...argh..
do you any hack/solution for this?
Hi StackOverflow! I'm a CS student on well on my way to graduate. I have had a difficult time of finding relevant student jobs (they seems to be taken merely hours after the notice gets on the board) , so instead I'm looking for an open source project in need of help. I'm aware that I should choose one that I use, but I'm not aware of any OS-project that I use that needs help. That's why I'm asking you.
I don't have any deep experience, but I here are some of my biggest projects so far:
BitTorrent-ish client in Python (a subset of BitTorrent)
HTTP 1.1 webserver in Java
Compiler from a subset of Java to run on JRE
Flash-framework project to model an iPad look and feel (not to run actual iPad programs) complete with an API for programs.
Complete MySQL database for a booking system, with departure and arrival times, so you could only book valid tickets (with a Java frontend).
I know, Java and languages like AS3 and C# feels natural per se, Python, and have done a fair bit of hacking around in C, but I don't feel very comfortable with it. Mostly I'm afraid to make a fuckup because I have such a high degree of control.
I would like to think I'm well aware of good software design practices, but in reality what I do is ask myself "would I like to use/maintain this?", and I love to refactor my code because I see optimizations. I love algorithms and to make them run in the best possible time. I don't have any preferred domain to work in, but I wouldn't mind it to be graphics or math heavy.
Ideally I'm looking for a project in C++ to learn the in's and out's of it, but I'm well aware that I don't know that language very well. I would like to have a mentor-like figure until I'm confident enough to stand on my own, not one to review all my code (I'm sure someone will to start with anyway), but to ask questions about the project and language in question. I do have a wife and two children, so don't expect me to put in 10+ hours every week. In return I can work on my own, I strive to program modular and maintainable code. Know how to read an API, use Google, StackOverflow and online resources in general.
If you have any questions, shoot. I'm looking forward to your suggestions.
Is there any movie that actually works in iPhone/iPad safari using the video tag? We tried so many formats and code snippets. I've heard that mp4/h264 should work, but not for us.
Can anyone point me to a working example online?
If you know the code or specs/formats for the videotag on iphone, that would be great.
My application has a collection of around 1940 icons that are used throughout.
They're currently in ICO and new images provided to me come in ICO format too. I have noticed that they contain a 16x16 and 32x32 representation of each icon in one file.
Each file is roughly 4KB in filesize (as reported by finder, but ls reports that they vary from being ~1000 bytes to 5000 bytes)
A very small number of these icons only contain the 32x32 representation, and as a result are only around 700 bytes in size.
Currently I am bundling these icons with my application and they are inflating the size of the app a bit more than I would like.
Altogether, the images total just about 25.5MB. Xcode must do some kind of compression because the resulting app bundle is about 12.4MB. Compressing this further into a ZIP (as it would be when submitted to the App Store), results in a final file of 5.8MB.
I'm aware that the maximum limit for over the air App Store downloads has been raised to 20MB since the introduction of the iPad (I'm not sure if that extends to iPhone apps as well as iPad apps though, if not the limit would be 10MB).
My worry is that new icons are going to be added (sometimes up to 10 icons per week), and will continue to inflate the app bundle over time.
What is the best way to distribute these icons with my app?
Things I've tried and not had much success with:
Converting the icons from ICO to PNG:
I tried this in the hopes that the pngcrush utility would help out with the filesize. But it appears that it doesn't make much of a difference between a normal PNG and a crushed png (I believe it just optimises the image for display on the iPhone's GPU rather than compress it's size). Also in going from ICO to PNG actually increased the size of the icon file...
Zipping the images, and then uncompressing them on first run.
While this did reduce the overall image sizes, I found that the effort needed to unzip them, copy them to the documents folder and ensure that duplication doesn't happen on upgrades was too much hassle to be worth the benefit. Also, on original and 3G iPhones unzipping and copying around 25MB of images takes too long and creates a bad experience...
Things I've considered but not yet tried:
Instead of distributing the icons within the app bundle, host them online, and download each icon on demand (it depends on the user's data as to which icons will actually be displayed and when).
Issues with this is that bandwidth costs money, and image downloads will be bandwidth intensive. However, my app currently has a small userbase of around 5,500 users (of which I estimate around 1500 to be active based on Flurry stats), and I have a huge unused bandwidth allowance with my current hosting package.
So I'm open to thoughts on how to solve this tricky issue.
I'm working on some HTML5 content to be included as part of an iPad app in a Web View.
As I understand it, Mobile Safari only supports SVG fonts, but my testing has show Mobile Safari to really struggle with SVG and the performance hit is a serious issue.
So... is it possible to put fonts in the App Bundle and somehow make them available to the webview?
How can I know the displayed text in the UILabelView? I have a large text and I am going to have 3 uilabels that represent 3 columns of an iPad App like NYTimes one. When I put the large text in the first column (UILabelView) I need to know how much of the text is displayed there..
If U suggest another solution please let me know.

After upgrading from 4.2.0 (beta, I believe) to 4.2.1, the libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib file is missing, which results in:
warning: Unable to read symbols for /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/4.2.1 (8C148)/Symbols/Developer/usr/lib/libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib (file not found).
which I guess isn't good. Looking at the directory in question I note:
.../DeviceSupport/4.2 (8C134)/Symbols/Developer/usr/lib/libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib
but
.../DeviceSupport/4.2.1 (8C148)/Symbols/System/
.../DeviceSupport/4.2.1 (8C148)/Symbols/usr/
the above two dirs make up all the content in the 4.2.1 folder. No "Developer" folder. Checking the /usr/ dir there, I find no libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib file in the lib dir either, so ln -s'ing isn't an option.
Worth mentioning: after the upgrade, I plugged the iPad in and had to click "Use for development" in Xcode organizer. Doing so, I got a message about symbols missing for that version, and Xcode proceeded to generate such, then failed. I restored the iPad and did "Use for development" again, and nothing about missing symbols appeared...
Update: deletion of /Developer and reinstallation of Xcode from scratch does not fix this issue.
Update 2: I just realized that after the reinstall of Xcode,
.../DeviceSupport/4.2 (8C134)/Symbols
is now a symbolic link,
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 36 Dec 3 17:17 Symbols -> ../../Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS4.2.sdk
And the directory in question has the appropriate files. Maybe this is simply a matter of linking the 4.2.1 dir in the same fashion? I'll try that and see if Xcode freaks out. If someone who has this file could provide a md5 sum that would be splendid. This is what it says for me:

I am building a 2d OpenGL es application For iPad it displays a background texture and numerous textures on top of it which are always in motion.
Every frame their location is recalculated based on time delta and speed and the entire thing is being rendered at 60 fps successfully, but still as the movement speed of the sprites raises, thing look stuttering.
Any ideas? Are there inherit problems with what I'm doing? Are there known design patterns for smooth animation?

I have noticed that popups are being used extensively in touch applications (eg iPad).
Is it ok to use the Webkit Javascript engine to implement cross-platform, non-GUI backend functionality on the iPhone, iPad? In my case, I was interested in re-using Javascript code that I have that works on top of SQLite. I thought I would need to re-implement the logic in Obj-C but perhaps I could just share it and expose some hooks into Obj-C using JSCocoa or straight through JavaScript core. Is this legal per Apple guidelines?
iPhone Mobile Safari seems to be missing element.getBoundingClientRect. What is the equivalent method on iPhone Mobile Safari? This method exists on the iPad.
Can we develop the apps using java for Iphone and ipad. i was experienced in java. Nothing about objective-c. is that possible? Else tell me how to study the objective c with java comparatively?
I have a nascent bridge scoring app that is meant to be stored locally on an iPod touch/iPhone (iPad? Would probably be fugly...)
So far so good, got a custom icon rolling and basic JS navigation laid out, but my problem is that it retains its state when I quit the app. Is there a simple magic Apple meta tag for this? Or is it achieved with javascript?

I´m just starting iPhone development with a small team of (really young and naive) colleagues, we all are fairly new to OS X, my question is:
If we are planning to develop for every iPod Touch/iPhone out there (not the iPad, I read that thing requires Snow Leopard), what problems will we encounter when sharing code (and making commits) if we all have a combination of Leopard and Snow Leopard systems?
For the iPad, iPhone, iTouch app that talk to remote web service by making NSURLConnection calls, is there a way for the remote service to tell what kind of device that the call is made from?
When I use jQuery for a simple click event it only works for links. Is there a way to make it work for spans etc:

The SPAN works in Safari but not Mobile Safari (on iPhone or iPad) whereas the A tag works in both.
I would like to be able to decide where a sub view is placed, when that view is controlled by its own view controller. This happens frequently on the iPad when you have a semi-complicated view that doesn't fill the entire screen.
So, imagine that I want the sub view controller's nib to decide its own width, components, connections, etc, while the parent nib would decide where that view/nib would be placed.
I'd really like to lay it out visually instead of programatically. How can I?
I am creating an iPad App that displays data I got from an API in JSON format. My Core Data model has several entities(Countries, Events, Talks, ...). For each entity I have one .json file that contains all instances of the entity and its attributes as well as its relationships.
I would like to populate my Core Data data model with these entities before the start of the App (otherwise it takes about 15 minutes for the iPad to create all the instances of the entities from the several JSON files using factory methods).

This combines the different JSON files into one UIManagedDocument which i can then perform fetchRequests on to populate tableViews, mapView, etc.
I'm looking for a way to create this document outside my application & add it to the mainBundle. Then I could copy it once to the apps DocumentsDirectory and be able I use it (instead of creating the Document within the app from the original JSON files). Any help is appreciated!

When text is selected in the iPhone OS, the user is given the option to copy/cut etc. How would I go about adding a new option here?
An example of this is in CourseNotes for iPad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLQhKkgco_I where the option is used to look up on wikipedia (around 55seconds in).

If I do not include any disclaimer/ eula in my app, then would Apple's standard EULA

If I include a small disclaimer inside my application (as a popup on initial screen), then would Apple's EULA still cover my app ?
I tried downloading few apps on my ipad and did not see Apple's standard EULA. So, where can I actually see the EULA before downloading something ?
