  • Determine iPhone user's country

    I need to determine at startup what country a user is in, for an iPhone application. Presumably I will have to turn on location services and do some sort of reverse geocoding. I don't really want to use a third party web service if possible, are there any other suggestions for determining country from what location services provides? Initially, I only need to check whether the user is inside the US or not, but this may change in the future to add more countries. I understand that location can not always be determined or the user may have location services turned off. Basically, I just need to know if the user is detected as being inside the US, in order to turn off a specific feature.

  • iPhone Advanced table view cells example

    I have been going through and re-creating Apple's "Advanced Table View Cells" example to better understand everything. I have done everything, but somehow missed one detail and I can't figure it out. If you launch their example (http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/samplecode/AdvancedTableViewCells/Introduction/Intro.html) and open up the RootViewController.xib file, they have a "tableView" outlet on the inspector that is linked to File's Owner. For whatever reason, I can't get that to show up on my version. My code is almost verbatim of Apple's, so what am I missing? Did I not declare that somewhere or doesn't that get taken from the RootViewController.m file?

  • Application crash when using an NSTimer and pushViewController

    I'm using an NSTimer to implement a 3 seconds splash screen. If a don't use a timer the view it's correctly pushed but if I use the timer for adding a little delay the application crash with a EXC_BAD_ACCESS.     Hello, I have made an iPhone app with localized versions. It mostly works fine, but there are two views in which localized NIBs do not load. Standard NIBs (in English) are used. I am sure I made localization properly ("Get Info", "Make file localizable", "Add Localization", added "pl" - for Polish, and then edited created NIB). All the other views are fine.     This tutorial on mobileorchard.com uses 2 classes (or 2 sets of .h and .m) to implement core location. Can I just use everything there in my existing class? How would I do that? Also, is the - (id) init { self = [super init]; if (self != nil) { self.locationManager = [[[CLLocationManager alloc] init] autorelease]; self.locationManager.delegate = self; // send loc updates to myself } return self; } method the same as the usual initWithNib?   • How do I handle calls to AudioTrack from jni without crashing?

    I was trying to write to an AudioTrack from a jni callback, and I get a signal 7 (SIGBUS), fault addr 00000000. I have looked at the Wolf3D example for odroid and they seem to use a android.os.Handler to post a Runnable that will do an update in the correct thread context. I have also tried AttachCurrentThread, but I fail in this case also. It works to play the sound when running from the constructor even if I wrap it in a thread and then post it to the handler. When I do the "same" via a callback from jni it fails. I assume I am braeaking some rules, but I haven't been able to figure out what they are. So far, I haven't found the answer here on SO. So I wonder if anyone knows how this should be done. EDIT: Answered below. The following code is to illustrate the problem.   • UITableViewCell indentation not in edit mode.

    When you enter editing mode on a grouped-style UITableView, the cells indent to show the editing control (if you aren't sure what I mean, see this picture (editing mode) http://i.imgur.com/GJXvL.png and this (non-editing mode) http://i.imgur.com/ahKYS.png). I am trying to manually indent a cell when the tableView is not in editing mode. I tried the indentationLevel property, but that just moves the text further to the right inside the cell and doesn't actually change the cell. Any ideas?
