I have a new installation of Red5 on Ubuntu linux. We are using JW Player for clientside. We can pause and skip ahead when streaming FLV files. However when using mp4 files if you pause and then press play again it starts playback at the beginning. If I try to skip ahead it just plays from the beginning.

I have a promotional DVD from a client, and they want to put clips from it on their website.
I'm in a Windows environment, so I'm looking for a decent video editor program, free would be preferred. Then I guess I'd have some kind of flash-based player to embed in the website...
What do you recommend?
I have just installed the Xubuntu. And I feel that to use it play a mp3 is like kill myself twice.
I try to play it with Exaile, the boxed player with Xbuntu. But it says I need to install some mpeg codecs.
I found so many depends with sudo apt-cache depends.
How to install them? one by one?!
Many thanks.
I cannot seem to get a headless FlexUnit build to run in Hudson CI + xvnc plugin on Ubuntu 9.04. Here is what I have tried:
compiled using -use-network=false switch
added Global Flash Player Trust file
/var/lib/hudson/.macromedia/Flash_Player/#Security/FlashPlayerTrust/security.cfg (with the content /)
commented out the last line "twm &" from /var/lib/hudson/.vnc/xstartup
I very often use subtitles on my mkv player to watch movies. I have frequently observed that there is sometime a lag between the subtitles and the actual video. Even after setting the subtitle offset one would have to go on increasing it as the movie proceeds. This is something i find extremely annoying and would like to know if there is any way when one can check if a subtitle file is the ideal one for a given video.
Context:
Windows 7
Wired mouse and keyboard
The Windows 7 Photos screensaver intermittently fails to kick in after 2 minutes. The computer knows that the time has passed because it will make my monitors display solid black screens.
I already tried installing the latest mouse drivers from Microsoft and the problem persists.
I also can't find any rhyme or reason to when the problem will happen. The problem happens even when Windows Media Player isn't running.
Hi everyone,
i'm looking for a service that will provide live football/soccer statistics (match and player stats, preferably) over API or RSS (or whatever), or maybe just provide easily parsable stats.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Martin
Yes, I really am asking how to turn down the volume. But first, some more detail:
My headphones are http://www.edimensional.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=122
They are really loud. I usually have to keep them on the lowest setting. If the source material is louder than average, I have to lower the output volume in the player software.
Is there a way to can adjust the Windows 7 volume settings so that my normal listening volume is around 50% instead?
I am going to be administering a small network of linux based workstations for a charity institution (not all have the same distro- some are ubuntu and some are fedora). Is there something in Linux that is similar to group policy in windows?. For example I would like to standardize the wallpapers - have only firefox as a browser - default VLC as the media player etc etc.
Thank you, any suggestions are very appreciated.

Is there a way to disable the annoying "check/repair device" dialog when plugging in an USB stick (or mp3 player)?
It occurs every single time, even if I've properly ejected the device before.
But actually, I never want it to show up - even if I did not properly eject it.
I'll have to deploy virtual machines on demo laptops, which will use Vmware player, but I've got some security concerns, as some data stored in the virtual machines are a bit sensitive.
Is there a way to prevent the copy of these virtual machines ? Are the virtual hard drives encrypted, and if not is there a way to encrypt them ? In short, is there a way to lock down everything so that nobody could copy and or use these VMs in another computer ?
Does anyone know how I can get YouTube to default to playing music videos in the highest possible quality setting?
If for example 480p is available I’d want that automatically selected before the music starts playing.
I changed the video playback option to ‘Always choose the best option for me, based on my player size.’ But the quality always defaults to 360p on page load.
How do you adjust the subtitles track?
I have a video and I downloaded the subtitles from somewhere. It is a few seconds after the video.
I mean can you push the track a few seconds forward or pull it backward in either VLC or Windows Media Player?
Is there a tool that can automatically remove the music sections of a given mp3 file so only the talking part is left? This would create a better listening experience when listening to the file on my portable mp3 player.
Currently I'm doing the task manually by looking for 'dense' regions using Audacity, but this is very cumbersome for large files.
Any help would be appreciated.
I am streaming an internet radio station through vlc. When its playing in the player, the title bar shows the song title and artist. When going full screen, it shows the song title/artist for a brief moment in white at the bottom of the screen. But, that quickly disappears. It does not come back up when the song changes. Is there a way to keep the stream info on screen while in full screen visualization mode in vlc?
I want VLC as my universal player.
It has a lot of qualities that everybody acknowledges and a few shortcomings which made me use other players in time. But in the end I have to concede it is still the best - especially while used on different platforms.
One of the small but annoying short-backs is the ugly and universally known orange cone.
I would like to have other icons than the same orange cone for all media files.
I'm just doing a VMWare Workstation 8 installation. However, on trying to boot (or create) a VM, it's reporting "Could not get vmx86 driver version: The handle is invalid."
It recommends reinstalling, which I've done.
Also, VMWare Player just hangs.
Was going to post on the VMWare forums, but can't seem to create a new discussion (even though I've registered/logged in).
It's our own fault for being too eager to upgrade, I guess.
I've been sent a DVD which needs to be put onto a website, but I honestly don't even know where to start.
Do I simply convert the file using some software to MP4(?!) and then use something like http://videojs.com/ to view it online?
I'm really sorry for the vague question, but I want to produce the best quality results, with good compression, good quality and a nice video player interface. Would really appreciate any recommendations.
Thank you!
I am looking for a solution for copying all the files from a specific directory on the hard drive, to a specific directory on a USB memory device, once this device is connected.
I have a program that downloads podcast episodes for me.
I would like these files to be automatically moved (or at least copied) to my mp3 player once I connect it to the computer.
I have both windows xp and linux machines, so a solution for any of them will work for me.
