• Complete Public Folder Migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010

  We were in the process of migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 and hit a brick wall when trying to migrate Public Folders. After resolving issues with connectivity (and another issue with an old Exchange 2003 server being listed in AD that was causing the replication to fail) it finally appeared that messages were migrating from one server to another. However, we appear to have jumped the gun and ran MoveAllReplicas before the process was complete. We are now stuck with about 210MB of public folders on the new server from a 7GB public folder store on the old server. The messages appear to be available on the old server since running get-publicfolderstatistics shows that there are messages available. We have waited several days for the move to continue but we are stuck at 210MB. Is there something we can do to complete the replication so that all of the messages move from the old server to the new server?

  I have 3 URLS all pointing to the same site. www.abc.co.uk www.xyz.com www.123abc.org I have a folder /foo/bar which has lots of sub folders and files in etc. I want to rewrite this to /bar. So if I have www.abc.co.uk/foo/bar/sheep/page.html I want it to redirect to www.abc.co.uk/bar/sheep/page.html. Is this possible. Sometime I may have a URL like www.abc.co.uk/foo/bar/foo/page.html so this would become www.abc.co.uk/bar/foo/page.html. Only the first instance of foo would be rewritten.

• Home folder only SFTP connection has limited access

  I have configured sftp access for user using this guide: Linux shell to restrict sftp users to their home directories? I have problem though. I have taken all steps. I have chown'ed root:user the home folder and I set permissions to 755. I can login normally using SFTP, however I can NOT transfer files, can NOT mkdir directories. If I change permissions to 777 it's ok do edit everything. However this is the thing I don't want. Additionally after exiting sftp and reconnecting then connection is reset by peer (due to setting 777). Anyone had similar problem? What I am doing wrong?

The idea is to allow a professor to still project and display content while walking around the room with their tablet. • How to recover C:\Users folder

  Today I was moving C:\Users to another partition using symlink method. I had the great idea of making the symlink from C:\Users = U:\, instead of C:\Users = U:\Users. Sadly, I've deleted the original "Users" folder and now, when I try to login, it says that The User Profile Service failed the logon. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is because the root directory of user profiles isn't the system one, so now when I create C:\Users, I can't log into Windows and I get the above error message. How can create a new C:\Users directory and workaround the problem? Thank you in advance!

• Do large folder sizes slow down IO performance?

  We have a Linux server process that writes a few thousand files to a directory, deletes the files, and then writes a few thousand more files to the same directory without deleting the directory. What I'm starting to see is that the process doing the writing is getting slower and slower. My question is this: The directory size of the folder has grown from 4096 to over 200000 as see by this output of ls -l. root@ad57rs0b# ls -l 15000PN5AIA3I6_B total 232 drwxr-xr-x 2 chef chef 233472 May 30 21:35 barcodes On ext3, can these large directory sizes slow down performance?   Here is described part of windows boot process. I would like to ask if there is a way to change boot folder, I mean to use something else instead of C:\WINDOWS. And of course that something else is a copy of Windows directory. It looks like bcdedit is good for that purpose but I'm not sure how to use that. That I want is to change path, which currently is \Windows\system32\winload.exe to \Windows Copy\system32\winload.exe Another thing I have found out is registry, HKLM\BCD00000000\Objects\{df90fe29-c40d-11e2-a7bb-92410b6e649d}\Elements\12000002::Element value is \Windows\system32\winload.exe so changing this also may be promising. But I'm not sure if I should change registry value and don't know how to use bcdedit, so any related help will be appreciated.

• When browsing a specific network share remotely, Windows Explorer continuously jumps back to the parent folder

  I am accessing a specific network path on another domain. It looks something like this: \\CoputerName.OtherDomain.in\c$\Inetpub\Testing\Website\ In under 30 seconds, I am automatically jumped back to \\CoputerName.OtherDomain.in\c$\Inetpub\Testing\ In less time it then jumps back to \\CoputerName.OtherDomain.in\c$\Inetpub\ Then it jumps back to c$ for its final resting place. \\CoputerName.OtherDomain.in\c$\ At first I thought this had to with a faulty keyboard, but this behaviour also occurs when the window does not have focus. It's as if windows thinks that the folder no longer exists (as in someone else has deleted or moved it). This behaviour is not specific to my PC either, it occurs from other machines in the office. Edit: It looks like this issue only occurs from other Windows 7 machines. There are no issues accessing the path from XP.

• Server 2003 Functional Domain DFS Replication Problem (Files being moved to conflicted folder for no reason)

  We have 2 Windows 2003 servers configured with a DFS namespace and we are running into problems with the redirected profiles we have setup. Basically, one server is the FSMO master for all roles, and we have another DC that is the DFS namespace primary server. We have profile redirection setup using the \dfsnamespace\userprofile formula. The FSMO master DC locks up occasionally (don't ask :), and when it does, and we bring it back up... All of the user profiles hosted on the DFS namespace get overwritten when a user logs in. The current profile gets moved to the conflicting and deleted items folder. This strikes me as really odd considering the whole point of using DFS was to provide some redundancy in case one server went down. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! -Nate

  i accidentally deleted the recovery folder on the recovery partition (win vista home) i think it was some sort of scheduled maintenance of some program that i did not configure properly? oops... lol i called toshiba and they said i needed to buy a recovery program, which i didnt bother doing. I bought a legal copy of vista and would like to install the correct files and in a way that when my computer starts looking for files it will eventually find them or i can point to the partition. i'm pretty sure it's not a matter of copy and paste (is it?) thanks Paul

I am looking for a best practice step by step solution to the following scenario: I have a development server accessible externally via a specific port for testing. Eg. rnd.domain.com:8888. So there is one port in and out of this machine accessible to the world. On this server I have a number of Apache or other servers using specific ports such as 8080. IIS is bound to port 80 locally as well as 8888 to get external requests and works perfectly. I would like to use an application (folder) in IIS such as rnd.domain.com:8888/mapserver to map to the local apache server in both directions. The same solution must apply in production where the domain is mapped to port 80. eg. production.domain.com/mapserver maps to 8080 on production server

In my actual .bashrc, I just have the following: configdir="$HOME/.config/bash" for file in "$configdir"/*.sh do source "$file" done I'd like to do the same for my .vimrc, but I am not that confident in VimL that I could write that. How would the snippet for .vimrc look like that includes all the snippets in a given subfolder? Ideally, I'd like to make a .vim/rc/ folder where I can put my snippets into.

  Is there a clever way to do copy and move operations or a command to duplicate a file, without having to do a cd, then mv after, at the same folder? For example, I have to run the following: mv /folder1/folder2/folder3/file.txt /folder1/folder2/folder3/file-2013.txt Note that the directory to where I'm moving the file is the same, but I have to put the whole path again and sometimes it gets annoying. I'm curious to know if there's another way to do that without having to put the whole path again, because the operation would be done in the same path.

• Plesk Subdomain folder group and permission problem

  I am working on a dedicated server from some web host. In Plesk 9.5, after creating a subdomain sub.domain.com, with login using main account, plesk automatically creates a folder domain.com/subdomain/sub with user and group of root I want to upload some files (the framework api) in domain.com/subdomain/sub itself instead of domain.com/subdomain/sub/httpdocs but I can't. domain.com/subdomain/sub/httpdocs has user and group of [main account_user] and psaserv respectively Is there a way to modify the user/group of domain.com/subdomain/sub from plesk so that I can upload files inside it? Otherwise, what is the next best solution?

  I have WordPress installed in my root directory, for which a RewriteRule is in place. I need to password-protect a subfolder ("blue"), so I set the htaccess in that folder as such. Problem is that the root htaccess RewriteRule is applying to "blue" and thus I get a 404 in the main WordPress site (instead of opening the password dialog for the subfolder). • Seemingly random 404's for static files in Pyramid project

  I'm running a Pyramid project with mod_wsgi. Some of the files in my static directory (images, stylesheets, javascript) load fine, but others are coming up as not found. The files that are not working are all web fonts (otf, svg, woff and eot). I tried adding a text file into the static directory where the fonts are to see if I could access it, but it also came back with 404. The same text file also can't be accessed when put in the images folder. From what I'm looking at, it doesn't seem to be a permissions issue. Any ideas?

• Two domains hosted on the same server with different root folder shows up the same homepage

  I have hosted two domains from GoDaddy at Linode VPS. They are mobiletoast.com and lesseltechnologies.com Thought the latter site has a separate index folder, whenever I navigate to it, I get the homepage of mobiletoast.com The strange thing is, I see the expected page (It works), when I open the site from my mobile phone. But when I open the site from my PC (any browser, without any cache, hard refresh), I get the homepage of mobiletoast.com The Linode support team says, they see the correct "It works" page. But I am not able to see that page. • Bind include all zones in a folder

  I have a webapp that acts as a DNS manager, writing all zones to "/var/named". I would like to be able to configure named to load all zones in that folder, without explicitely having to tell it which zone goes to which file. Is that remotely possible? The reason for this is that i will be having a lot of zones added/deleted and a lot of records for each of them. I was thinking for using a database for that, but the idea of doing 500 record inserts scares me (it needs to be snappy). It's easier to write to a file. Any suggestions?

• Is it possible to turn a shortcut to a folder into a menu of items in that folder?

  I vaguely remember seeing something on the internet that showed it was possible to turn any shortcut to a folder into a menu, as long as that shortcut was in the start menu or on the quicklaunch bar (i.e. somewhere that allowed menu functionality) Does anyone know if this is possible? And if so, how to do it? I'd like to be able to do this... With a link in my quicklaunch area... I remember it had something to do with renaming the shortcut with along string of characters placed between '{' and '}'. I realize how picky this request is as I have more or less acheived what I am looking for by placing the 'desktop' toolbar on my start bar. But I'd rather it be an icon in my quicklaunch. Just humour me :)
