• Is it possible to remove all event handlers of a given element in javascript?

  Hi, I would like to remove ALL handlers for a given event type. Let's say I've added twice "onclick event" to a button and now I would like to return back to the original state where no event handler was set to the button. How can I do that? P.S.: I've found removeEventListener (non-IE)/detachEvent (IE) methods but the functions want me to pass as a parameter the function that handles the event which seems to me quite clumsy because I would have to store the functions somewhere. • How to connect android application running on a device to a local web application?

  I have my droid device connected through USB and using Eclipse for debugging my application running on the device. Everything is fine, except my application needs to connect to a web application running on the same host computer (Windows XP, IE). The web address on the IE was "http://local:4566/MyApp/". I tried to set my android app to "http://10.0.2.2:4566/MyApp", but no luck. The android app's connection simply times out. The document under http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/emulator.html says that the ip address may be different for devices (see Network Address Space section) but no further details on how to find that. Question is, how to I connect to a local web application running on my host computer (windows xp) from an Android application connected through USB running debug under Eclipse?   So I just love it when my application is working great in Firefox, but then I open it in IE and... Nope, please try again. The issue I'm having is that I'm setting a CSS display property to either "none" or "table-cell" with JavaScript. I was initially using "display: block;", but Firefox was rending it weird without the table-cell property. I would love to do this without adding an hack in the JavaScript to test for IE.   I have an array of structs and one of the fields in the struct is a float. I want to pick one of the structs where the probability of picking it is relative to the value of the float. ie struct s{ float probability; ... } sArray s[50]; What is the fastest way to decide which s to pick? Is there a function for this? If I knew the sum of all the probability fields (Note it will not be 1), then could I iterate through each s and compare probability/total_probability with a random number, changing the random number for each s? ie if( (float) (rand() / RAND_MAX) < probability)...

• Django: common template subsections

  What's a good way to handle commonly occurring subsections of templates? For example, there is a sub-header section that's used across 4 different pages. The pages are different enough to not work well with template inheritance (ie. "extends" doesn't fit well). Is "include" the recommended method here? It feels a bit heavyweight, requiring each subsection or snippet to be in its own file. Are there any performance issues in using include or is it smart about forming template from the subsections (ie. if I make extensive use of it, do I pay any penalties)? I think what I'm looking for is something like template tags, but without the programming - a simple way to create a library of html template tags I can sprinkle in other templates.

• problem with generating PDF and session_start()

  Hi All, I've been using PDF class produced by R&OS successfully in a number of recent developments. I'd like to use it in a page that performs a database query before generating a PDF (it's basically a summary of the session, so I'm using session_id() as part of the query) All is fine if I run this in Firefox - not fine in IE. I think the loading of session_start() is doing something with headers that's upsetting IE as it appears unable to load the page (comment off session_start and the page loads fine). I'm getting a little concerned as, on further investigation, it appears that R&OS is not supported ... bad newbie learning experience and I really don't want to have to try adopt another class system this late in the day. Have you any thoughts as to what I could try next? Thankx G

  My company recently upgraded from IE 6 to IE 8. My site does not render properly. I wanted to make sure my .net version was fixed before I started to try to fix a problem. I think my web.config file says i'm using 3.5, but if I get an error when running the app I get this: Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3603; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3082 Why does it say 2.0? rather than 3.5? • Make a <div> square when there is a dynamically changing width based on percentage

  I am working on a web app that will generate an NxN grid based on the user's selection of N. I want the total width of the grid to be relative (ie 100% of the available space) so that users can print on various paper sizes. I can easily calculate the width of the squares in the grid by % (ie: 100%/N), but I am having issues calculating the height. The height of a web page is always going to be infinite unless I artificially limit it which, like I said, I don't want to do. How can I make the squares in my grid be square versus rectangular when the height and width constraints of my grid are dynamic and not square? Thanks in advance!

  I have the following code of a map using api google, I have tested the code in several html editor and its work perfectly, but when i upload in my web page doesn’t work. The map appears all zoomed in some random point in the ocean. I create an article in Joomla 1.5.20, paste the code. Its shows right in the preview but not in the web page. I disable filtering and use none editor and still won’t work.   I have tried to find a way to implement cross browser path normalizer. There IS a native way which is described here and functional example is here, but it works only in newest Opera (but not in IE, FF, Safari, Chrome). The native way uses pathElm.normalizedPathSegList and it converts all relative coordinates to absolute ones and represents all path segment types as a following subset of types: M,L,C,z. I have found only one javascript code and jsfiddled functional example of it, but it works only in IE and FF. Chrome gives "Uncaught Error: INDEX_SIZE_ERR: DOM Exception 1". How this could be fixed to work also in Opera, Safari and Chrome or is there any other way for normalizing SVG paths?

Inside the td, there is a form, with a hidden field and a picture. Firefox shows only the picture, but IE has spaces between the rows. I did a little debugging, and found it was from the /form. Does anyone know a fix to this?

The previous SalesRank returned is for the whole SearchIndex, ex: Books, Music, etc. What we want is to get the SalesRank for a specific BrowseNode. I don't know but it seems that it is not implemented on Amazon US. Using the substitue operator in "gvim" I am able to achieve the same result. ie. if i use ":1,$ s/\[/\\[/g" in the vi editor in command mode I see all the '[' chars replaced with '['. However if I try to use the same substitue command in a shell script using a sed command, i am not able to achieve the same result. ie If i use the following command in a shell script I am not able to achieve the desired result: sed "s/\[/\\[/g" $temp_file2 > $temp_file1 where $temp_file2 conatins the lines with '[' characters and $temp_file1 should contain the replaced '\[' chars

  Hi, I have an IE problem. I am using the jquery ajax method to call a php script. The php script just calls die(). In firefox, the error message is displayed, but in IE the success message is displayed without any data. I would prefer the error function to be called. Is there any way to fix this? • How do you insert new entries into an Access db table through an ASP.net website?

  I need to insert new records into an Access database. I'm using Visual Studio 2008 and firstly create a asp.net website. I can connect to the information in Access databse using dataview or gridview and can query a particular entry (ie. Proposal No. -brings up all details linking to that proposal). I can then edit the details of that proposal and this would update the Access Db. What I need to do is to have a form that simply enters new details for a new customer. ie. Enter name [__] Enter Adress[__]. Then for this to update the database. By using the gridview or dataview I am able to view all fields that exist in the table and edit them. Is there a way that I can get a blank gridview/dataview template (which includes all the fields in the table) and fill it out to then update the database? Thanks

  I have password protected website with .htaccess. What I want to do now is to force users to login from the index.html page and not from any other which they can do now. ie. I have index.html (the main page) and I have two other pages 1.html and 2. html also protected with .htaccess password. Users can now type http://www.mypage.com/1.html and they will be asked for login data but I would like to force them (before they are asked for login details) to index.html to login. After they are loggedin they can use any link (ie.1.html or 2.html) as they want. Can this be done by using .htaccess? I would need the whole code. Thank you!

• scrollTop issue on constant moving div

  I have a FLASH object that I mouse over which in turn calls the following function to scroll a div. It works but due to the constant high speed scrolling it would throw up NULLS. This in turn caused IE to open a new page through my FLASH ActionScript 2.0 I found that by creating the SC variable and throwing in the condition "if it exists" keeps FLASH from causing IE to open a new page. However, it still creates an error behind the scenes of "Object Required". Although my application works I do not want load up memory with errors.
