  • Using svn remove - preserve file on disk instead of having it deleted?

    Hi, I am creating an eclipse project, which generates a lot of files I don't want to keep under version control. For example, it creates a project folder like: project/ bin/ horse.class cow.class src/ horse.java cow.java so what I do is add the project folder to svn, like: svn add project this puts everything under control, even the bin and .class files. All of those files will have the little 'a' next to them. How can I simply remove the 'add' status from those files? If I try: svn remove bin/horse.class I have to use the --force option and it deletes the file from disk. Is there a way to simply remove it from source but not delete the file from disk? Thanks

  • Combining packages from different projects into a single project in eclipse

    Hi, As part of the Android application I am developing in eclipse, I need to combine two packages from different projects into a single project. I tried copying the files in the package of the second project under the src folder of the first folder and copied other files required for second package into the res folder of the first project. But the auto-generated Java files i.e R.java doesn't get updated on copying. I tried right clicking on the project and clicking on Android Tools - Fix Project Properties. But nothing changed. Any pointers on what I am doing wrong much be appreciated.

  • Objective C instance variables - Newbie

    OK - so I'm sure my confusion here is just a result of being stuck in a "Java mindset" and not understanding how Obj C differs in this case. In Java, I can declare a variable in a class, like this, and each instance of that class will have it's own: MyClass { String myVar; MyClass() { // constructor } } In Obj C I tried to do the same thing by declaring a variable only in the .m file like this: #import "MyClass.h" @implementation MyClass NSString *testVar; @end My expectation here was that this variable has a scope limited to this class. So I created a second class (identical): #import "MySecondClass.h" @implementation MySecondClass NSString *testVar; @end What I'm seeing (and has me baffled) is that changing the variable in one class, affects the value seen in the other class. In fact, if I set a breakpoint, and then "Jump to Definition" of the variable, it takes me to th I've created an extremely small XCode project that demonstrates the problem here Nothing more humbling than moving to a new language :) Thanks in advance.

    Is there a way to control the output filenames of an Hadoop Streaming job? Specifically I would like my job's output files content and name to be organized by the ket the reducer outputs - each file would only contain values for one key and its name would be the key.   • how to invoke an activity of a library project from an android apps

    I have an open source android code that I need to use in my android apps. It has all the source code as well as resource files, manifest files and class path. It can be compiled as a separate android apps. I have constraints for using the open source. 1. I can't change a single line of code. 2. I can't use it as a separate apps. These constraints are non negotiable. What I have done is I have compiled the open source as class library(in Eclipse: Project Properties-Android- Tick check box Is Library). This has resulted in generation of .class files(in bin) for the java files and resource files. This open source has an android activity that i want to open from my application. So I have linked the directory of these sets of class files in the source section of my java build path( in .classpath). I have declared the activity in my manifest file with proper action intent filters. Now when I am trying to call activity from my code, its not working. Cleaning and rebuilding doesn't help. However, if I build the open source project and my apps in the same workspace of eclipse and link the open source in my apps in exact same manner it works fine. I am not able to identify the difference. All settings seems to be same(all files are identical in both the cases). But only in the second case it works. I have tried it as jar file also. I have build the open source as project library and exported it into a jar file(excluding manifest file). But in that case I am getting the following error UNEXPECTED TOP-LEVEL EXCEPTION: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: already added: .... Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1 This I guess is coming because the android library(2.2) has been included twice in my apps( one for building my apps & another for building the open source). I dont know how to avoid this. Cleaning the project doesn't help. What i require is to use the open source and invoking it's activities in my apps without violating the constraints. If i can use the open source as bunch of .class files then great, or else any other way will do fine. Please look into it and let me know. Thanks

  • Android XML-RPC Serialization Issue

    I am attempting to use Android XML-RPC and for some calls I get the following exception: W/System.err( 837): java.io.IOException: Cannot serialize java.lang.Object@43759748 It looks like it is having troubles serializing the returned data, but I cannot find much documentation on how to actually use Android XML-RPC. The way I am using Android XML-RPC is as follows: Object response = (Object)client.call("sales_order.list", new Object()); This one is pretty odd. I have tried setting this call up in a few different ways (using HashMaps, not passing second variable, etc) and the response I get is that sales_order.list is not a valid Method. I have been able to login to the service using the following code: this.sessionId = (String)client.call("login", this.apiUserName, this.apiPassword); Does anyone have any ideas or a good resource on how to use Android XML-RPC?     Hi Alls, I would like to build a small python script that basicaly does the reverse of grep. I want to match the files in a directory/subdirectory that doesn't have a "searched_string". So far i've done that: import os filefilter = ['java','.jsp'] path= "/home/patate/code/project" for path, subdirs, files in os.walk(path): for name in files: if name[-4:] in filefilter : print os.path.join(path, name) This small script will be listing everyfiles with "java" or "jsp" extension inside each subdirectory, and will output them full path. I'm now wondering how to do the rest, for example i would like to be able if I forgot a session management entry in one file (allowing anyone a direct file access), to search for : "if (!user.hasPermission" and list the file which does not contain this string. Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks

    A client of mine has asked me to integrate a 3rd party API into their Rails app. The only problem is that the API uses SOAP. Ruby has basically dropped SOAP in favor of REST. They provide a Java adapter that apparently works with the Java-Ruby bridge, but we'd like to keep it all in Ruby, if possible. I looked into soap4r, but it seems to have a slightly bad reputation. So what's the best way to integrate SOAP calls into a Rails app?

    I've been trying to get Jetty to run my web app via a custom launcher (embedded). I am trying to figure out how to tell Jetty which java compiler to use for JSPs. I want to do what java -jar start.jar -OPTIONS=jsp does, but without using start.jar. Here is what shows on the console: Javac exception, Unable to find a javac compiler; com.sun.tools.javac.Main is not on the classpath. Perhaps JAVA_HOME does not point to the JDK Do I need to put the javac libraries into my classpath?

  • Maven: Variables are not replaced in installed and deployed POM

    We have been trying to migrate our multi-module projects to maven. I have been struggling with the maven install plugin bug "http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-2971". I have written a Java program which can find and replace the expressions using my settings.xml and POM in my local repository view. As a result all of my parent POM's are having a additional phase in the build process. What i'm doing is that i have attached a goal which will run my Java program during "validate" phase. I think this is a not a good idea instead i would have asked individuals to run the program on their local repository on their own. What i'm asking here is that the best way to work around the "install" plugin issue (MNG-2971). I searched through the net but i could not locate such work around.

    I'm trying to make a simple log in/ log out web application with maven and I'm creating the project with the command: " mvn archetype:generate " and choose 341 and it'll be created with the structure below: webapp -----src/main/java -----Referenced Libraries -----Maven Dependencies -----src -----target pom.xml But when I add some dependencies and update the project something weird happening with the structure of the project according to the picture below: webapp -----src/main/java -----Referenced Libraries -----JRE System Library -----src -----target pom.xml and it's not working any more. As you can see the the first one has a Maven dependencies Library but the second one has been changed to JRE System Library. I use mac os lion and eclipse indigo. Anyone how knows why is like that?   • C++: Platform indepentend game lib?

    Hi, I want to write a serious 2D game, and it would be nice if I have a version for Linux and one for Windows (and eventually OSX). Java is fantastic because of its platform independent. But Java is to slow to write a serious game. So, I thought to write it in C++. But C++ isn't very cross-platform friendly. I can find game libraries for Windows and libraries for Linux, but I'm searching one that I can use for both, by recompiling the source on a Windows platform and on a Linux platform. Are there engines for this or is this idea irrelevant? Isn't it that easy (recompiling)? Any advice and information about C++ libraries would be very very very appreciated!

  • WMCI - how to get the ERRORLEVEL

    Hi, I want to use the "wmic" command for finding out if a specific java process is still up and running. E.g. wmic process where "commandLine like '%ACTMonitor%' and executablePath like '%PATH1%' and name like '%java%'" The problem now is that the errorlevel of this command is always 0, no matter if there is a process listed or not. How can I manage to get an errorlevel != 0 in case the process is not up anymore? Or can one of you tell me another suggestion on how to be able to continue in a .bat script with this information...     I have enjoyed making 2D games in various langues (actionscript 3.0, java, python, others) but now I'm ready to move into 3D and to really get me amped up while learning 3D development I'm going to attempt to make a 3D multiplayer game (I already have server written in python). I'm looking for a platform that will run a 3D game well in the browser on low end computers with low end internet. What first came to mind was try Java or use flash/silver light with a 3D framework but I wanted to ask the good people of stackoverflow since performance is a big part of my needs and also good documentation is a plus since I'm just starting 3D development. (the programming language does not matter)
