  • MP4 plays on Safari 4 (desktop) but not on Safari Mobile (iphone)

    I'm encoding the video with ffmpeg and displaying it using the HTML 5 video tag. It works fine on Firefox (i'm also providing a ogg version) and Safari 4. However, when I try to open it on the iphone I get a "Cannot Play Movie" error. Here is the ffmpeg command I'm using: ffmpeg -y -i movie.mov -acodec libfaac -ar 44100 -ab 96k -vcodec libx264 -vpre hq -level 41 -crf 20 -bufsize 20000k -maxrate 1500k -g 250 -s 320X200 -coder 1 -flags +loop -cmp +chroma -partitions +parti4x4+partp8x8+partb8x8 -flags2 +dct8x8+bpyramid -me_method umh -subq 7 -me_range 16 -keyint_min 25 -sc_threshold 40 -i_qfactor 0.71 -rc_eq 'blurCplx^(1-qComp)' -bf 16 -b_strategy 1 -bidir_refine 1 -refs 6 -deblockalpha 0 -deblockbeta 0 movie.mp4 I reduced the maxrate to 1500 because I read that if the bit rate is too high the iphone won't play the video, but still didn't work.     I am creating a rails application that I also wish to work as a native app on the iPhone and Android. In order to facilitate this, I was thinking about becoming an OAuth provider. Is there a rails OAuth plugin that will work like this, or is there a better solution to protect the API? Note: I have found pelle's OAuth plugin, and it looks very robust, but it looks like it requires a callback URI, which the native apps would not have. Is it possible to just convert this over without much trouble?

    I'm working on a OpenGL project that I would like to port to embedded systems that support OpenGL|ES. Since OpenGL|ES is a subset of OpenGL how hard would it be to compile my OpenGL application on an embedded system? (Assuming that my OpenGL code is in the limits of OpenGL|ES) I guess what I'm wondering is: is it possible to dircetly wrap my OpenGL calls with MACROS to make it compatible with OpenGL|ES API call names? Are there any calls specific to OpenGL|ES that I would have to implement? Sorry, if I'm not clear. Thank you.

    Does anyone have experience writing professional OpenGL games on Windows? For the Mac, due to apple's control, the OS seems quite "uniform". For windows, due to different hardware, different drivers installed, etc ... the hardware base seems to have many many different configurations. In theory, OpenGL provides a API that abstracts all this away. In practice, many drivers are often buggy and have weird cases -- has this been a problem for developing games on Windows? Thanks!

Is there a mechanism to enable them to "send error log" somehow when the application crashes or when unexpected behavior takes place?     I'm building a Qt app with Python where you can point and click at a (google) map and get the coordinates of the location. The map is shown through a QWebView loading a simple HTML page and the user can create markers by clicking. Screenshot of the widget after clicking on the map: However, I'm having trouble to retrieve the just-clicked location coordinates back to Qt (so that I can use them as variables -- and, for example, show them in the QLineEdits on the topleft corner above, as current location of the marker).   • Where do I define a group policy that will set a users desktop background color to green the first time they log in?

    Servers: W2k8 R2 x64 Desktops: Win7 Pro x64 Our current group policy uses a custom ADM file to define certain properties of the desktop (Background Image (centered), Background Color is green (00 74 00)). This policy works for us, but the down-side is that policies defined in our custom ADM are only applied after a GPUpdate /Force is applied. We would like these desktop theme settings to be applied the first time the user logs onto the computer. I've been working on a new policy that forces the computer to wait for the network when the user logs on to handle folder redirection. The reason for writing the new policy was to resolve the issue that a user needs to run GPupdate /Force the first time they log in, so it doesn't make sense for me to implement the new policy if there is still something that requires GPUpdate /Force to get the user in the state that we want them. I've moved the setting for background image out into Admin Templates- Desktop- Desktop- "Desktop Wallpaper" so this is now being set properly when the user first logs in. Now I'm left with a black background until I force a group policy update. I have tried to play around with setting a default "Theme" and had limited success; this was not reliable enough to call a solution. I suppose I could set the background color with a script? Any thoughts? It feels like I'm missing something obvious, or that this should be much easier than it is.

  • Designing code for a duo Website + AIR desktop App

    I want to use AIR to create an OFFLINE version of a "webapp" kind of website (lots of ajax, front end code). Haven't been much further than the HelloWorld example, I keep wondering: how do you design your code, to maximize code reuse between the website (say in php or Java or .Net), and the AIR app ? Can you actually re-use 100% of the front end code, provided that it is designed to account for the AIR app ? How would you go about doing that ? For example, the website makes many Ajax calls which have latency, and uses listeners. The AIR app doesn't need listeners it could run database requests synchronously, and it doesn't need to run ajax calls right? Would you write an abstraction layer for that ? So that the same calls on the AIR app will not do a xmlhttp but instead implement the server-side code with AIR; and call the listener ? So you don't have to rewrite the front end code patterns ? Does this make sense ? It's really hard to search on Google. I'm thinking there must be a good article somewhere of somebody who went through and perhaps a framework to do that ?

  • .Net OutOfMemory on Server but not Desktop

    Is it possible that the .Net framework behaves differently when it comes to garbage collection / memory limitations on server environments? I am running explicitly x86 compiled apps on a 64bit server machine with 32gbs of physical ram and I am running out of memory (SystemOutOfMemoryException) even though nothing but that particular app is running and the server/all other apps utilize 520mb total.. but I cannot reproduce that behaviour on my own (client win7) machine. Now I know that the app -is- memory intensive, but why is it causing problems on the server and not on the client?

  • Can a UPS give off an EM field capable of interfering with desktop components?

    I own an APC Back-UPS ES 750; it's about 4 years old, and is the only major component remaining in a question that has been boggling me for the last 18 months. (Yep, I originally posted this question about the possessed desktop, and while I marked a solution and closed the question, a week later the same problem returned) I've tried plugging the desktop straight into the wall (but left the other components plugged into the UPS) and the desktop still froze. Is it possible that the EM field generated by the UPS is interfering with my desktop components and causing these otherwise-unpredictable system freezes? To me this sounds like a long shot, but aside from my twin LCD monitors, that just about takes care of all the major components.

    I try to pragrammatically run applications such as notepad.exe and Calc.exe with the following codes. I can see the application is activated in Process Exprorer but the application UI does not appear on the screen. I got this info inside the process p - "Process must exit before requested information can be determined" and the exitcode are 1200, 5084, etc. What is wrong? Thanks!
