• Displaying User Relationships Module Blocks

  I'm unable to display any of the User Relationships' auto-created blocks in any of my sidebars. I have tried enabling all modules and permissions I can think of, with no success. The block I'm most interested in is the block that would allow users to be invited to an existing relationship (e.g. Friend), but as I say this nor any of the other blocks display. Other Drupal blocks and custom blocks display just fine. The blocks do show up in the blocks listing, and I've tried different ways of configuring them. Any help, or even confirmation that someone has been able to do this with the latest stable versions of Drupal and the User Relationships module, would be appreciated. Thank you.

• CoreDumpDirectory isn't working on ubuntu; getting segmentation fault with php

  I'm trying to solve a segmentation fault. This message appears in my apache-error.log: [notice] child pid 3979 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) I've tried disabling some apache and php modules but I'm still getting the same error. I've also tried putting this in apache2.conf: CoreDumpDirectory /tmp/apache2-gdb-dump and then chmod 777, chown www-data... so that the server can write. I can see no core-dump files to give me a hint on the error. Does anybody have an idea why CoreDumpDirectory isn't working on Ubuntu?

• Generate Javadoc for interfaces only using Ant script?

  Hi all, I am using Apache Ant to generate Javadoc for my program which has many projects(or modules). However, I just want to generate Javadoc for Interfaces ONLY and I do not know how to check if a file is a class or interface in Ant. Someone suggested me that I should use and specify a list of files to exclude or include. However, there are hundreds of files in my program and specifying a list of class files to exclude is impossible. Does anyone have some ideas, please?

• mod_perl memory leak

  Hello, I recently discovered that one of our sites has a memory leak in it, it's very strange because it happened all of the sudden. I've used GTop to measure the memory size per process and it tells me that the real value is somewhere around 65 MB (on the server) per request and and additional 5 MB shared. I tried preloading the modules in the startup.pl file a indicated in the performance tuning article for mod_perl. Nothing happened if fact the shared memory decreased down to 3.7 MB, in this situation I thought that my application is leaking memory do before any line of code got executed I measured the memory just to find out that the total value is in fact 64 MB, my questions are: Is there a default preallocation of memory for each process? Is there a configuration issue? Is mod_perl leaking memory ? Thank you very much.

  I'm looking for some tools for testing vim scripts. Either vim scripts that do unit/functional testing, or classes for some other library (eg Python's unittest module) that make it convenient to run vim with parameters that cause it to do some tests on its environment, and determine from the output whether or not a given test passed. I'm aware of a couple of vim scripts that do unit testing, but they're sort of vaguely documented and may or may not actually be useful: vim-unit: purports "To provide vim scripts with a simple unit testing framework and tools" first and only version (v0.1) was released in 2004 documentation doesn't mention whether or not it works reliably, other than to state that it is "fare [sic] from finished". unit-test.vim: This one also seems pretty experimental, and may not be particularly reliable. May have been abandoned or back-shelved: last commit was in 2009-11 ( 6 months ago) No tagged revisions have been created (ie no releases) So information from people who are using one of those two existent modules, and/or links to other, more clearly usable, options, are very welcome.

• Executing commands on a Unix box from ASP .NET

  I'm in process to create a few utilities for my team to make life a bit easier working with our Unix boxes(most of them Solaris based). For example I'm creating a ASP .NET page to display the output of TOP. Also plan to be able to restart processes with the KILL -15 command. Now I wonder if there is any nice modules out the do the work for me or am I better off just going ahead with my own SSH communication? It would of course make sense building the app on the unix box directly but I'm not able to do this.

• Running Ruby app on Apache

  I have been learning Ruby lately, and I want to upload a test web application to my server. But I can't figure out how to get it to run on my shared hosting. My Hosting Details Shared Hosting with JustHost (see here for list of features) OS: Linux Apache: 2.2.11 cPanel: 11.25.0-STABLE No SSH access. Can install Ruby Gems. Can't install Apache modules. Can "Manage Ruby on Rails Applications" through cPanel. Mongrel gem is installed. I built the following simple HelloWorld Ruby Rack app using Sinatra: #!/usr/bin/ruby ruby require 'rubygems' require 'sinatra' get '/hi' do "Hello World!" end I just can can't figure out how to "start" the application. Do I need to tell Mongrel (or maybe Apache) that the application exists somehow? How do I start this app running? I am happy to provide more info if needed.

I tried it but linker errors annoyed me. Because two modules try to include common.h. I have no idea to solve it. Is it possible?

• Got blue screen with a warning that I boot loader may not be properly configured, workaround?

  After running sudo apt-get update got this message: Configuring grub-pc You chose not to install GRUB to any devices. If you continue, the boot loader may not be properly configured, and when your computer next starts up it will use whatever was previously in the boot sector. If there is an earlier version of GRUB 2 in the boot sector, it may be unable to load modules or handle the current configuration file. If you are already running a different boot loader and want to carry on doing so, or if this is a special environment where you do not need a boot loader, then you should continue anyway. Otherwise, you should install GRUB somewhere. Continue without installing GRUB? <Yes> <No> Apparently there is a bug in ubuntu 10.04. But this hang the system. Any ideas on how to fix this? All I wanted was to install gcc that is missing.

• How to not have .axd files authenticate in IIS7

  We recently moved from IIS6 to IIS7 and we're experiencing some issues. The nastiest seems to be that .axd files being handled differently in IIS7. They're run through the pipeline for the authentication and authorization modules as well as the global.asax events. This causes problems for a variety of reason (specific to our code) that won't go into. How can we just exclude .axd files from all this like they were in IIS6? Thanks. Note: We're still in 32bit Classic pipeline mode.

• How to detect VC++ 2008 redistributable?

  Is there a Registry setting that I can look for to determine whether or not the Visual C++ redistributable is installed, whether standalone or as part of Visual Studio 2008? I know that I could launch the VC++ 2008 redistributable installer and let it handle the detection, but it would look cleaner if I can check for it and not bother launching the installer if the redistributable is already on the system. It's no biggie if there is no setting to search for, as this is just for the preliminary installers that we have for the new version of our software. We won't need it for the new Windows Installer-based installers that we are working on that will replace the old tech ones and will use the merge modules.

• Questions about use lib for perl

  I use use lib "./DIR" to grab a library from a folder elsewhere. However, it doesn't seem to work on my server, but it works fine on my local desktop. Any particular reasons? And one more question, does use lib get propagated within several modules? Two situations: Say I make a base class that requires a few libraries, but I know that it needs to be extended and the extended class will need to use another library. Can I put the use lib command in the base class? or will I need to put it in every extending class? Finally, can I just have a use package where package contains a bunch of use lib, will it propagate the use lib statements over to my current module? <-- I don't think so, but asking anyways Thanks in advance! • Maven - add dependency on artifact source

  I have two maven modules, one that ends up as a jar, and one war that depends on that jar. I want the jar module to package it's source code together with the compiled classes in the jar, so that the second module is able to access it. I have tried using the maven-source-plugin, but I am confused as to how to add a dependency on the output of that. It seems that the dependency by default goes to the compiled jar, and not the source-code jar (ending with "-source.jar") that maven-source-plugin creates. How do I add the "-source.jar" as a dependency, while still preserving the dependency on the compiled sources?

• Using Maven shade plugin in a multi module project

  I have a scenario where-in I need to create an uber jar of a multi module maven project including all modules and their dependencies. I tried using maven shade plugin. but it seems to work only when I use it at the module level. If I add the plugin entry in parent pom then the build breaks (it tries to shade the parent pom) [INFO] Replacing original artifact with shaded artifact. [INFO] Replacing null with C:\Projects\foo.bar\target\foobar-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT-shaded.pom [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [ERROR] BUILD ERROR [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] Error creating shaded jar: null It does seem to make sense since the <packaging> for the parent maven project is pom. But there should be some way to create an uber jar for a multi module project... Any ideas people???

• How to import a module from a directory?

  On my system I have two versions of Python (to call them I type python and python2 in the command line). When I use the first version of Python, I cannot import sklearn module but I can do it in the second version of Python. I would like to use the first version of python (because other modules are available there) and, at the same time, I would like to be able to import sklearn from this version of Python. My solution was to use: import sys sys.path.append('location_of_the_sklearn_module') To find the location of the sklearn module I started a python session (using the second version of python, in which sklearn works). The I type: import sklearn sklearn.__file__ As a result I got: /home/name/my_name/numpy/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/sklearn/__init__.pyc In the session of the first version of Python I tried: import sys sys.path.append('/home/name/my_name/numpy/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/sklearn') import sklearn Unfortunately it did not work. As a result I got: ImportError: No module named sklearn Does anybody know what I am doing wrong and if it is possible to reach the goal in the way I try?

• xcodeproj merge fails when adding new group

  I'm currently using Xcode with Git, and I'm experiencing some troubles during the merge process of my xcodeproj. Developer1 create a new group in Xcode file arborescence the commit and push. Developer2 on an other computer do the same with an other group name, commit and pull(with merge). The xcodeproj of Developer 2 become unreadable with Xcode. But when I create a new file or just drag and drop files from finder to repository, the merge succeed. Did someone has experienced that kind of trouble? • Problem in enabling mod_rewrite in Ubuntu.

  Hi, I am trying to change from windows to linux server. And for that i am trying to enable mod_write in ubuntu. I have taken all the necessary steps to enable the mod_rewrite as mod_rewrite is displayed under loaded modules. I have set all the permissions for the .htacess file. But for some reason the rewrite does not appear to be working in the linux server. It was working fine while i was using the same code in windows server. Can anyone please help me in this issue. The questions I got are: What do you write as Haddock comments and what do you write in the literate part? How do you scale literate programming to multiple files? Can anyone point me to an example where literate programming is used in a package with multiple modules? What is your experience of using literate programming in larger packages? Which flavour (markdown, latex, ...) of literate Haskell is preferred? Why are you programming in literate Haskell or plain vanilla Haskell? Are you programming in both styles and if so why? Do you prefer block-style (\begin{code}) or Bird-style (>)? Why?

• Strategy for developing a multi function asp.net web application

  I'm about to start a new project and want some advice on how to implement. I need a web application which contains a booking module for reserving timeslots, and a time management module which will enable employees to clock in / clock out. If I am writing an update to the time managment module, I don't want to disrupt the booking engine availability by releasing a new solution containing both modules. to make things more difficult, there is some shared functionality like common users, roles and security. Here's a suggestion I've gotten, which sounds a bit cruddy, but may be functional. Write a 'container' web application which consists of basically a frame, and authentication / security features. This then has links which, will load the 2 independantly built and released web applications into the frame. I can see that say, if I wanted to update the time management module, I would only need to build and release this separately, and the rest of the solution would be 'untouched' Any better alternatives?

  Is there a way to import a Python module stored in a cStringIO data structure vs. physical disk file? It looks like "imp.load_compiled(name, pathname[, file])" is what I need, but the description of this method (and similar methods) has the following disclaimer: Quote: "The file argument is the byte-compiled code file, open for reading in binary mode, from the beginning. It must currently be a real file object, not a user-defined class emulating a file." [1] I tried using a cStringIO object vs. a real file object, but the help documentation is correct - only a real file object can be used. Any ideas on why these modules would impose such a restriction or is this just an historical artifact? Are there any techniques I can use to avoid this physical file requirement? • What should I do to practice?

  I start a year long industrial placement in September where i will be coding in Java predominantly. I am going to use the summer to brush up on my Java as in year one of the degree Java was the main language taught for OOP modules. However this year i have had no Java exposure except for an algorithms module, which was one of eight, so as you can see i am probably getting really rusty!. What i wanted to know is, how does the "real world" java programming differ from university coding and what do you suggest i brush up on that would be different to my normal workings. As a start I definitely need to get familiar with a professional IDE like NetBeans, opposed to having used BlueJ throughout but more specifically what coding practices should I get more familiar with. I appreciate they wont expect me to be a qualified full developer and will give me time, but I would like to hit the ground running as it were, with me having full hopes to secure a permanent position after I finish my degree.

The programmers at my company want to build all future modules using n-Tiered (Presentation Layer, Business Logic Layer, Data Access Layer) architecture. I am not the programmer and need to know why this makes sense? Do I have to completely rewrite the entire code or can it be converted? We are building an HRIS system with Business Intelligence.   Hi, How can I create two CCK fields where the latter has values based on the first selection? In my case I have a few programs which can be selected and then projects that are related to programs. I need to have two separate fields for them. Example: Programs: Program1 Program2 Projects: Project1 (related to Program1) Project2 (related to Program2) Project3 (related to Program2) If program "Program1" is selected, then the user should only be able to select "Project1" and in case of "Program2" is selected, the options should be "Project2" or "Project3". I'm using Drupal 6.20 and I've already tried using Conditional Fields and Computed Fields modules, but they don't really solve my problem. Any help is much appreciated!
