How does py2exe actually -and simply explained- work? :)

Hi folks, I have a c++ app that calls another python one (bundled into an exe with py2exe) So I have 2 apps. So I was wondering: What if my c++ did what py2exe does? i.e. embed the python app in the c++ one. This way I won't depend on py2exe and its configurations nighmares (yes, it has some) Hence my questions: how does py2exe work (so I can do its job with my c++ app) What about just embedding the whole python app with the c++? I read the python doc about embedding, did an example (a very simple one that does PyRun_SimpleString) but what about a whole python app with tons of modules? (zipimport maybe?) I'd love to hear how you'd do that. Thanks a lot! :)

which layout engine for finding coordinates of html elements on the web page?

I am doing some web data classification task and was thinking if I could get the co-ordinates of html elements as they would appear on a web-browser without taking into consideration any css or javascript being referred in the web page. My language of programming is c++ and the need results for a couple million of pages, so it has to be fast. I know there is a Microsoft COM component which renders the page in a web browser control and then can be queried for position of different html tags. But this is not suitable in my case as it first renders the whole page which takes up a lot of time. So as I found out, there are open-source layout engines WebKit, Gecko that can probably be used for this. But that's a huge piece of code and I need someone to direct me to the right classes or right modules to look into or any previous/similar work someone has done previously. Also, please let me know what you guys think is a good choice if I want to customize the existing code for use with multiple threads to make it faster. Thanks

What should i do to practise?

Hi guys I start a year long industrial placement in september where i will be coding in java predominantly. I am going to use the summer to brush up on my java as in year one of the degree java was the main language taught for OOP modules. However this year i have had no java exposure except for an algorithms module, which was one of eight, so as you can see i am probably getting really rusty!. What i wanted to know is, how does the "real world" java programming differ from university coding and what do you suggest i brush up on that would be different to my normal workings. As a start i definatley need to get familiar with a professional IDE like netbeans, opoosed to havign used BlueJ throughout but more specifically what coding practises should i get more familiar with I appreciate they wont expect me to be a qualified full developer and will give me time, but i would like to hit the ground running as it were, with me having full hopes to secure a perminant position after i finish my degree. Custom OData operation / customize EF model to hide join table in many-to-many relationship

I've got a data model that has two tables with a join table for a many to many relationship & creating an OData service to expose the data for CRUD ops in a Silverlight app. What I'd like to do is abstract the join table from the service. I'm not sure if the best way to do this would be in the model (using EF in .NET3.5SP1) or if I should do it with a custom service operation. If I do it in the EF model (not sure how I'd do this), then the OOTB WCF Data Service stuff would make it easy to say [..]/Courses(1)/Modules ... otherwise I'd have to create a custom operation to do this. Is it possible to do this in the EF model and if so, how does that work?

I've seen that people use the async library to solve this but I was wondering if there was any other way for me to do it without needing more modules... Thanks!

Hi All, Recently I attended interview in java, the interviewer asked a question like below: I have a request which go throgh A,B,C modules and response go back throgh A , in module A I need to talk to database and again in module C I need to talk to database, so in this situation how many connections you will open and where do you close those connections? My Answer: I said that in module A I will open a connection and I will close it then and there, then control go to module B then module C, in module C again I will open one more connection and i will close it again. then he asked me again another question I want to open one connection per one request processing, how can i do this?

What is the Perl equivalent to C's #include? [closed]

Possible Duplicate: How do I include functions from another file in my Perl script? I have a couple simple perl scripts that share some subroutines. I'd like to pull those subroutines out into another file, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. All I need is an equivalent to C's #include. I found a couple things online about creating modules, but that seems like overkill for what I'm doing. Is there a way to just tell perl to load/execute another perl script inline, so it's treated as if it's just part of the file (like #include in C)?

Showing renames in hg log?

I know that Mercurial can track renames of files, but how do I get it to show me renames instead of adds/removes when I do hg log? For instance, instead of: A bin/extract-csv-column.pl A bin/find-mirna-binding.pl A bin/xls2csv-separate-sheets.pl A lib/Text/CSV/Euclid.pm R src/extract-csv-column.pl R src/find-mirna-binding.pl R src/modules/Text/CSV/Euclid.pm R src/xls2csv-separate-sheets.pl I want some indication that four files have been moved. I think I read somewhere that the output is like this to preserve backward-compatibility with something-or-other, but I'm not worried about that.

VBA form_error vs on error

I am trying to set up error handling for a MS-Access application. The standard method to do this seems to be with an On Error statement in each subroutine/function. It seems simpler to me to use the Form_Error function to catch all the runtime errors in that form as opposed to an On Error statement for each sub/function called by an event on that form. (Obviously, for code in modules, there is no Form_Error function and therefore the only method is the On Error statement) What are the pros and cons of using On Error vs Form_Error?

Drupal 6 sign-up booking, reservation system with payments

Hi Guys. I have tried to find out the working solution for implementing simple events booking system in Drupal 6 (limited places, payment, signing up/buying few places for firends). System does not have to be big but easy to customize events to reserve/book places for. I was surprised of not finding much complete solutions. Most of the time I was directed to use modules like: Date, Calendar, Singup, Singup Ubercraft integration, Ubercraft. Does anybody of you has tested it? Is it working and customizable or you would suggest other alternatives on the subject? Wiil appreciate any recomendations.

Devise authenticating with username instead of email

I'm new to Devise and have it working fine by using an email address as the authentication key. However, I have a use case which requires a username instead and I can't seem to get it working. I've added a string column, "username" to the users table, changed the fields from :email to :username in the sign-in form, and have changed the authentication key in devise.rb to :username yet when I go to sign in I'm met with this prompt: "Please enter an email address". Relationships via Email Rather Than User List

I'm new at Drupal, so I may have missed a solution despite a lot of research: I want users to be able to invite non-users and other users into a named relationship they've set up (using e.g. the Friendlist or User Relationships module) using only email addresses and not the user list. I believe that invitations from both of those modules are done only after the inviter selects the invitee after selecting the invitee from a list of all users. Frankly, I would be surprised if no email solution exists since a large site's user list would be daunting. Does anyone know if this is possible using Organic Groups? Thanks very much.

Recalling import in module

I'm still learning python and after playing around with pygame I noticed I'm re-importing things in modules I'm importing that I've already imported. import pygame For instance I have some classes in a separate file, but I must also import pygame into that file too for them to work. Does it actually import the code twice? Will it slow down my program? Or does it just pull the same import from before, but if it does that, why would I need to import it? Is there anything like (load) in lisp that just pulls in the code like it is part of the main file? Thank You

How can I merge CSS definitions in files into inline style attributes, using Perl?

Many email clients don't like linked CSS stylesheets, or even the embedded <style> tag, but rather want the CSS to appear inline as style attributes on all your markup. BAD: <link rel=stylesheet type="text/css" href="/style.css"> BAD: <style type="text/css">...</style> WORKS: <h1 style="margin: 0">...</h1> However this inline style attribute approach is a right pain to manage. I've found tools for Ruby and PHP that will take a CSS file and some separate markup as input and return you the merged result - a single file of markup with all the CSS converted to style attributes. I'm looking for a Perl solution to this problem, but I've not found one on CPAN or by searching Google. Any pointers? Maven profile for single module

I have a multi module maven project, which builds successfully, I'd like to build just one of the modules I have. How would I do that with profiles ? I could do it from console in two ways, one way is go to the child module and mvn package or I could use reactor to build just one module. Can I do the same thing with profiles? By modifying POM? Thank you EDIT If is impossible from POM, can I do it from settings.xml ?

As a team should we develop locally and merge into the dev server, or develop on the dev server?

Hey, Recently I was tasked with writing up formal procedures for a team based development enviroment. We have several projects with multiple modules each. Right now there are only two programmers, however there are plans to expand to 4-6 programmers. Each programmer will be working on the same project and possibly pages which may cause over writing or error issues. So far the ideal solution I have thought up is: Local development (WAMP/VM or some virtual server instance on their own machine). Once a developer has finished their developments, they check it into the CVS Repository and merge it wih other fixes etc. The CVS version is then deployed to the primary dev server for testing by the devs. The MySQL DAtabases are kept on the primary dev server and users may remotely connect to it. Any Schema / Data alterations are run through a DB Admin who will notify all devs of any DB Changes (Which should be rare). Does anyone see an issue with this or have a better solution?

Rails 2.3.5 table populated by fixtures at end of test run rather than at start

I start with a test database containing the schema but with no data in the tables. I run a test like so cd test/ ruby unit/directive_test.rb I get failures indicating that the code found no data in the data tables. However, I look at the tables after running that test and the data is now in the the table. In fact, if I immediately run the test again I get no failures. So it appears that the fixture is being loaded into the table too late for one of my modules to find it. When are the fixtures loaded? After or before the app/model/*.rb files are executed? If it is after the models are executed is there a way to delay the loading? This issue is also relevant when running rake test:units since that task clears the test data after it finished.

Stacked up with web service configuration

I'm currently stacked with the web service that im creating right now. when Testing it in local it all works fine but when I try to deploy it to the web server it throws me the following error An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI '...my web service URI here....'. Is there such a thing as a dektop application event aggregator, similar to that used in Prism?

The event aggregator in Prism is great, and allows loosely coupled communication between modules within a composite application. Does such a thing exist that allows the same thing to happen between standalone applications running on a user's desktop? I could imagine developing a solution that uses WCF with TCP binding and running inside Windows Process Activation Service. Client applications could subscribe or publish events to this service as required and it would ensure all other listeners get notified of events as appropriate. Using TCP would enable event messages to be pushed out to clients without the need for polling, ensuring messages are delivered very quickly. I can't help but think though that such a thing would already exist... Is anyone aware of something like this, or have any advice on how it may be best implemented?

Depmod - unresolved symbols in rt73 module

I'm trying to install a linux driver for my wireless network card (D-Link DWL-G510) on my Red Hat Linux 7.1 machine with a 2.4.37.9 kernel. I downloaded the serial monkey driver from the sourceforge site and was able to successfully compile the module. However, whenever I do a "make install", the make script executes a "depmod -a" command which then complains with the message: "Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.37.9/extra/rt73.o". I then executed a "depmod -e" command to show unresolved symbols and it indicates the following information: request_firmware_Rsmp_38ce5074 release_firmware_Rsmp_33934162 I did a grep on the above information and it showed no source files making reference to it. I searched for it on google and it returned no results. Can anyone help?

What does term «object language» correspond to? Does that mean «pure» object-oriented language, like the Wikipedia article says: Languages called "pure" OO languages, because everything in them is treated consistently as an object, from primitives such as characters and punctuation, all the way up to whole classes, prototypes, blocks, modules, etc. They were designed specifically to facilitate, even enforce, OO methods. How does one write extconf.rb files when one extension includes header files from another?

This is a follow-up question for: Multiple Ruby modules under one directory What happens if these extensions include each other? For example, you have the following structure: ext/foo ext/bar In ext/bar/bar.h, you have a #include "foo.h" foo.h and foo.cpp compile to form foo.o, to make life a little more complicated. Finally, it is necessary that foo and bar be separate extensions. How is this managed? I can't figure out how to add ../foo to the search path for bar.h, primarily. Symbolic links seem hack-ish.
