• What software allows editing text with furigana professionally?

  I'm studying Japanese and need to write a lot of text with furigana. I've been using Word so far but my main concern is that entering furigana is not only quite clumsy (no hotkey) but what's more important is that once entered, you can't globally change either its font or its size; you need to change them one by one. This is a deal-breaker for me since my average text contains hundreds of entries. There is a hack you can do as pointed out by another guy on SU but I found that by using it I could (and did) break my document easily. My question is: is there a software that is specifically designed to work with Japanese text that also has its UI in English? As stated above, I need something that has furigana editing as a first-class citizen.

• Resume ./configure after solving dependency requirement

  Sorry about my bad English. Here's the question: Is there a way to resume ./configure script from where it stopped just after fixing a dependency requirement? It seems that the script runs for a long time just until it throws me another unsatisfied dependency... After I fix it, the ./configure script starts running from zero again. This would sure save me a few minutes every time I compile a package which I don't have easy access to its dependencies. Does this resuming depend on the publisher providing caching for its configure script, or is there something I can do about that? Any ideas? Thank you.

• Bios wont post unless I restart power supply.

  I have an annoying problem with a computer. The BIOS wont post after it has been turned off and started again unless I turn the switch off/on on the power supply. The fans, cdrom hdd and everything starts running but the bios never beeps and the monitor stays black. I HAVE TRIED: reinstalling windows xp, flashed bios to latest, cmos clear, new power supply, other hdd, new memory sticks, graphics card. I also removed the motherboard from the computer case and laid it on a cardboard box and only connected the PSU, RAM and CPU. Other than this the computer works great but its annoying having to off/on the power supply switch before turning it on after its been off. My guess is that the motherboard is faulty but I would just like to hear what you guys think. Sorry for my english / Remy

• Help on using mod_rewrite to serve I18N static site

  My static site www.example.com is translated in different languages and files are organized in this hierarchy: / /de index.html seite-1.html /en index.html page-1.html /it index.html pagina-1.html The root contains no files, just one subdirectory for each language the site is translated in, while subdirectories contain pages translated (both content and file name are) in the language corresponding to subdirectory name, de, en, it, etc. The question is: how to configure mod_rewrite so that when a client visits www.example.com it is taken to the correct version of the site, falling back to english version if the required locale is not supported (i.e. Accept-Language header doesn't exist or specifies a language for which the site is not available, e.g. fr)? • Default Keyboard for new users in Windows 7

  I just installed Windows 7 and I want all users signing in to the computer to see the Language Bar customized with the following three languages: "English (American)" "French (Standard)" "Chinese (Simplified PRC)" I am running the following four lines of code at log on in order to change the registry such that each user will see the language bar, and then have access to the three keyboard layouts mentioned above. reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar" /v ShowStatus /t REG_DWORD /d 4 /f reg add "HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload" /v 2 /d 0000040c reg add "HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload" /v 3 /d 00000c0a reg add "HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload" /v 4 /d 00000804 The above works fine, but with one small/major inconvenience: the user has to log off and then log back on in order for these changes to take effect and see the language bar, as described above. The question becomes: How can I force these changes to take effect so that users don't have to log off and then log back in to see the language bar. This has to be done automatically when users log in.

  I'm looking for an HP USB 104-Key Modular Keyboard with Detachable Number Pad (model number is DT530A, I believe), shown at this online store, where it's quite cheap but is sadly sold out. I've searched for hours on Google, and I've found several - the problem is they're Spanish or Greek keyboards but I need one in English (US keys preferred)! I would also be happy with a keyboard which is not exactly this but is similar, either with a detachable keypad or with no keypad at all, as long as the keyboard key layout and positioning is the same as on a standard keyboard.   hello. i`m in a lan using iptables/masquerade. what i want to do, is to login in a web application.i write my user and passwd and click login and everything is fine, but if i try to modify something in that aplication it tells me that i have a wrong ip address.i knwo for sure that this app only allows ip 10.3.x.x .how can i trick that application to think that i have an ip from class 10.3.x.x and not my wan ip? 10x sorry for my bad english!

• Change google search location beyond current country

  I often work remotely and prefer using en-us locale settings for my searches. One of our computers is located in Germany, and whenever I try to change the location in Google Search Settings, I get an answer to "Pleas enter a valid Deutschland city or zip code". I checked this post, but it doesn't apply, as my language settings en-us and the Google search language is also set to English. It clearly uses the IP address of the computer. I couldn't find an answer in the Google help pages, anyone any idea how to change it London, New-York or Amsterdam?

  I want to run a program with GUI, by typing into konsole: foo args … and exit from the shell (that's the caller) when the program (foo) is active. How do I this? Is there a Linux/Unix built-in command/program to do it? I'm not a shell-man, really. I know that it's possible by writing a small program in C or C++ (any other programming language with small I/O interface on POSIX) programming language with the fork() and one-of exec*() function family. It may take some time; I'll do it only if there is no native solution. Sorry for my bad English; it's not my native language. Also, not sure on tags, please edit for me, if I'm wrong. If it matters, I'm using OpenSUSE 10.x.

• Custom PC won't boot Windows 7 dvd but does with windows vista

  I ordered a custom build PC. (It was assembled by the store). This is the setup Motherboard: Asrock A75 PRO4-M DVD drive: LG GH24NS90 SSD: Samsung 830 series 128GB DDR3 SDRAM: 2× Corsair XMS3 CMX4GX3M1A1600C9 (2× 4GB) APU (CPU+GPU): AMD A8-3850 Boxed I got a installation DVD for Windows 7 Professional x64 English (including SP1), but it doesn't work. I got a new one from the store and it doesn't work either. However they work on a other PC. So the DVDs aren't bad. I tried an old installation DVD for Windows Vista. Both 32 bit and 64 bit work. So the boot order and such are right and working on the new PC. Is there something I'm missing here? Any ideas on how to make it work?

• How can I make the icon font color on a windows 7 prof desktop work?

  I have C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Scenes\img25.jpg as wallpaper (I think it's a standard windows wallpaper.) The desktop icon font color is white. It cannot be read without heavy eye pain. I want it to be black. I couldn't change the icon font color in advanced properties (ie the good old window color settings dialog) for aero for windows 7 professional x32. I've heard that the icon font color should change automatically to suit my needs, it doesn't work as advertised in my scenario. How could I fix it and rescue my eyes from popping out? • Ubuntu doesn't start and I can't login [migrated]

  My ubuntu 13.04 doesn't boot anymore. Eternal black screen. If I press ALT+CTRL+F1 I see that it's stucked on "Checking battery state [OK]." I'd like to try to go with sudo apt-get install gdm but I can't login on terminal tty2, tty3 etc. They correctly ask for my nickname, then they make me wait a lot, ask for password and make me wait again. After a lot of time (... a lot) the best I could achieve was visualizing "Documentantion https://help.ubuntu.com". I can never reach the point where I can give commands. Plus, during the long pauses, every 2 minutes it gives a messagge like this: INFO: task XXX blocked for more than 120 seconds. Any suggestion? • bad switchs duplicate my ip

  I had a large area LAN. There were many switch and AP on it, then somehow I couldn't ping my servers, and it's said that the IP was duplicated. I use arpwatch and found out that one of the switch flip-flop-ing the IP. I isolated that troublesome switch using his mac-address. But, since this a large area LAN... I doubt this will be the last cases. If there any software or hardware that I can use to prevent this kind of error? Sorry for my bad English.

  Hello, Let's imagine that we have 8Gb of RAM on server. I'm mounting /dev/shm with 4Gb on board. mount -o remount,size=4G /dev/shm Will this memory be strictly reserved for shared memory or if /dev/shm is empty this memory could be used by regular applications (web server, php etc.)? PS:Sorry for my English. I'm asking it because I've just checked df -h and found tmpfs 6.0G 0 6.0G 0% /dev/shm on 8Gb RAM sever. I don't know who made this setup, but it seems to me awful. • Fonts and encoding in windows live mail.

  Sometimes I have non-english emails (arabic for example). When I try to open them with windows live mail, it doesn't show them correctly.. for example such this: &1588;&1603;&1585;&1575; &1610;&1575;&1605;&1575;&1606; (I changed it a bit to show here as I want) I had a look at options, there was encoding on arabic(windows) but I didn't find anything else. I would like to have two separate servicies in different machines. The first machine will have the application itself with a apache, nginx, whatever.. The second one will contain the database.   For example when i want to write 1.1 in MS Word, the . is suddenly converted to ',' when i write the second 1. Here is a illustration of what happens: Notes: I am typing in Arabic and i want the numbers Arabic. When I am typing in English it is fined and everything is better than expected: The . remains . I tried to reset Word settings based on the all the ways that MSDN suggests. Now all the styles and options are set to default and all add-ons are removed. I also tried to reset my Regional and Languages settings to a Standard one. I have also changed all the , separators to . How can i stop the Word from changing my dots to commas? (It only happens when dot is between two digits)

Now I want to do the same using fifo, so I'm writing this mkfifo temp.wav ffmpeg -i input.flac temp.wav & faac -q 120 -o output.m4a temp.wav And it's freezing.   I would like to find some simple scan software for a windows machine that can scan to pdf, but I would like it to do batch or multiple pages into one big pdf. I saw a couple questions on scan to pdf software, but did not see anything talking about scanning to large multiple page pdf's. EDIT: I am surprised there are not more options out there. Do many of the scanners/all in one devices come with included software that perform this function? EDIT 2: I tried Scan2PDF and it locked up on me multiple times in the middle of the scan job and then gave me non-english error messages. Otherwise, I liked how simple the app was, just select number of pages and hit ok. Any other success stories out there?

  In IM apps (not only), there is a browser frame that appears and prompts for example to connect to facebook account, ebuddy for example (can't post pictures :( ) http://nsa34.casimages.com/img/2013/06/26//130626121230193046.jpg My question is: how can I know if this frame is from facebook.com and not a phishing website. I know that the apps in the play store are legit (mostly at least), but how can we trust apps that we install from outside the store? Or is there any way to check the credentials form action?
