• ASP.NET Template Selector/Builder - Dynamic CMS

  I am currently building my own CMS for various reasons that could take a long to explain... However i am looking for a dynamic solution to create templates for pages within the CMS and all areas must be editable via the administration area, maybe large text areas broken into multiple areas, text and image area on a page etc. Following on from the above i would like to create the following: Create a new page (selecting a pre-defined template like below) http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/9872/nestedpages.png and then upon editing the page it would have created as many text editors required for each editable region or a file upload control for an image area for example. i am thinking of using nested masterpages for the design elements, just unsure the best-practice way to achieve the above (db structure etc) I somehow hope this provides enough information but are happy to answer any questions you may have.   Hi I m following the tutorial on http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/intro/tutorial02/#intro-tutorial02 in windows 7 envoirement. my settings file is TEMPLATE_DIRS = ( 'C:/django-project/myapp/mytemplates/admin' ) i got the base_template from the template admin/base_site.html from within the default Django admin template directory in the source code of Django itself (django/contrib/admin/templates) into an admin subdirectory of myapp directory as the tutorial instructed. It doesn't seem to take affect for some reason. Any clue of what might be the problem? Do i have to do a sync db ?

  I have a GWT + AppEngine application that lets users create online polls. I want to let the poll creator choose from a variety of themes for his poll. We will save the theme a poll creator chose on the server and whenever a poll respondent access the poll he will get the questions with the chosen theme. A theme for us means a set of 4-5 colors which we will use to style the poll page. Our client side application is a GWT application with styles set inline in UiBinder templates elements, for example: <ui:style> .header { background: color1; padding: 6px 6px; } .anothercssclass { background: color2; padding: 6px 6px; } </ui:style> Please suggest how we can set the color1 and color2 from the theme saved on server.   I been dealing with Magneto for the last 6 months now and its a real headache, always some type of error, slow, bloated, dead community and overly complex to customize (and im a designer...) I look at others like zencart but seem kinda dated compared to magento, but are their any other solutions to replace magento thats better and with a good online community? the main selling points im looking for are configurable items (as in options for products), good online community and not so hard to customize or a nice amount of templates available. has to be free and hopefully open source and if it helps this is for a custom car accessories store

• Creating a sub site in SharePoint takes a very long time

  Hi, I am working in a MOSS 2007 project and have customized many parts of it. There is a problem in the production server where it takes a very long time (more than 15 minutes, sometimes fails due to timeouts) to create a sub site (even with the built-in site templates). While in the development server, it only takes 1 to 2 minutes. Both servers are having same configuration with 8 cores CPU and 8 GIGs RAM. Both are using separate database servers with the same configuration. The content db size is around 100 GB. More than a hundred subsites are there. What could be the reason why in the other server it will take so much time? Is there any configuration or something else I need to take care? Thanks a lot, all helps are appreciated.

• How would one call std::forward on all arguments in a variadic function?

  I was just writing a generic object factory and using the boost preprocessor meta-library to make a variadic template (using 2010 and it doesn't support them). My function uses rval references and std::forward to do perfect forwarding and it got me thinking...when C++0X comes out and I had a standard compiler I would do this with real variadic templates. How though, would I call std::forward on the arguments? template < typename ... Params void f(Params ... params) // how do I say these are rvalue reference? { y(std::forward(...params)); //? - I doubt this would work. } Only way I can think of would require manual unpacking of ...params and I'm not quite there yet either. Is there a quicker syntax that would work?

• C# change e-mail 'from' address to a user-provided one.

  We have an app that allows users to send e-mails from our system. It allows the user to specify their e-mail address, and gives them several standard templates to use as a starting point for their e-mail. When we send the e-mails, we use the address they provided as the 'reply-to', but the 'from' address of the e-mail (naturally) looks like our system (from '[email protected]'). Is there a way to change this without getting tangled up in spam filters or automatic blocking? We'd prefer not to confuse the recipient as to who actually composed the e-mail they've received.

  I have a site built in Ruby On Rails which has many ads in different templates and views. It is hard to actualy remove each ad between tests and deployments. I don't know whether Google approves many impressions (even if without clicks) on localhost. How do you deal with this issue? Maybe it is a good solution to set a variable/constant available everywere to enable/disable ads easily. Do you think it is a good solution? If so, how do I declare a global variable for views?

• Is there a way to test my nonce validation fails when it should?

  I'm using nonce validation in a wordpress plugin. When I submit the form from the admin menu it processes correctly, so I believe the nonce validation is working. What I'm not sure is if the validation will fail when it is supposed to and I don't know what the best way to test this is. I tried putting the url for the php file in directly, but all it does it take me to a wordpress not found page. Is there some recommended way to test this? Here is my code. • Best practice: How to persist simple data without a database in django?

  I'm building a website that doesn't require a database because a REST API "is the database". (Except you don't want to be putting site-specific things in there, since the API is used by mostly mobile clients) However there's a few things that normally would be put in a database, for example the "jobs" page. You have master list view, and the detail views for each job, and it should be easy to add new job entries. (not necessarily via a CMS, but that would be awesome) e.g. example.com/careers/ and example.com/careers/77/ I could just hardcode this stuff in templates, but that's no DRY- you have to update the master template and the detail template every time. What do you guys think? Maybe a YAML file? Or any better ideas? Thx

• Is it possible to dynamically change the style/template of a control?

  I am creating a UserControl in Silverlight 4 which has a watermarked background. The watermark should change depending on the underlying 'type' the UserControl is representing. The watermark is created using a Path and I have extracted all the properties into a style. I was wondering if it would be possible to change the style of the Path at runtime based on some known value. I am using MVVM and Unity. Perhaps I could bind the style somehow? Or could I inject the style when the view is created? I may have to do this with control templates, hence the reference in the title. Thanks...

  I am working on a project where I need to embed a web server into my C# application so the application could display it's status via HTTP. I suppose I'll want to configure it through the http also. I am looking for an open-source library written in C# and with a licensing scheme that will allow me to link it into my existing closed source code (LGPL). Any suggestions of specific products or where to look first? It would be great if that product could have some kind of scripting, at least templates. All html output would go from the application, only resources would be stored on the disk (images, icons, ...) EDIT: I would like it to run under .NET 2.0, however.

• More intelligent Context Menus in Visual Studio 2008 Database Projects

  I'm using a SQL Server 2008 Database Project, and I'm finding it's very cumbersome to add certain items. For example, if I right click on Tables = Keys and navigate to the Add item, I'd expect to see the different kinds of keys that I can add. Instead, I see the stock items that don't apply, and I'm forced to navigate the Add New Item screen to find Primary Key. Is there a way to make this more efficient? I have Resharper; can I leverage templates somehow (kind of a noob with these). Thanks!

  I sometimes find it's easier to create a new project from scratch in other IDEs simply because its often more difficult to understand and tweak the generated template code than it is to write the code you need from scratch. Do seasoned iPhone developers still use templates when creating new projects? How difficult is it to add functionality to a template project that isn't initially included in the template? For example, if I don't check the "Use Core Data" option when creating a new project, how difficult does that make it to use Core Data later on if I changed my mind?

• Single C++/CLI method to wrap many type specific C functions

  I am wrapping a C library using C++/CLI so that the C library can be used easily from C# in a C#'ish way. Some of the functions in this library are for putting a value into a container. There are no generics in C so there exists a function per type CLIB_SetBool(BOOL value), CLIB_SetInt(int value), CLIB_SetString(char* string) and so on. To make it easier to use from C#, I have created a single Set function which takes a System::Object. I have two related questions: With my method how would you use a switch statement on the type of System::Object to call the correct CLIB_Setxxxx function. [typeid is only for unmanaged code and I can't seem to use GetType.] Is there a better way to wrap these functions like using a Generic? [I started using template specialisation but then realised that C# doesn't see templates.] Thanks.

Its job is to rewrite the codigniter configs from templates. I've got the read/write stuff working, but I'd like to be able to test the server credentials given by the user without codingiter throwing a system error if they're wrong. Is there a function other than mysql_connect that I can use to test a connection that will return true or false and won't make codeigniter have a fit?

• Rendering HTML in rails without actually displaying it

  Hello all, My current project requires me to assemble a .zip file containing HTML and text-only templates for a user to download, for importing into an email marketing program. I've inherited this project, and currently the code uses a "fake" model (that is a model that does not directly correlate to a database table), in which it stores the entire template in a string, using dynamic variables to populate certain areas. The "fake" model then has a method for creating a zip file. It seems to me that there has to be a better way to do this. I was wondering if there was a way to move the template into a .erb/haml file, and then write a method that would populate the file in preparation for being zipped up? Basically, is there a way to render an HTML and text file, without actually having to display them? Thanks for any help.

• MediaWiki : is it possible to add an edit link in a template?

  I have a template on my wiki, kind of a box template. Then, there is this page where I use it several times. Can I add an edit link to each of the boxes so I don't have to edit the whole page in order to modify one of the boxes? The boxes contain only text, not other templates. Thanks! • Interesting XSL Dilemma

  I've got this issue. A template called "checkbox" that's called from while inside a table HTML element and also outside of it. To solve an issue, I've added tags to "checkbox" input control. Here's what I'd like to do to but I'm not sure if it's possible or not. When I hit my "row" (part of the custom table markup) template, I would set some variable or pass some parameter, that for each template applied afterwards, would know it was in a "row" and do something special based on this information. I know I can't add parameters to apply-templates. I may be able to add a row "mode" but I can't make changes to each template and have one copy with the mod parameter and one without. Thanks for any suggestions. I know the ideal solution would to be to make changes to the XML but I'm not sure if I can do that as this point. That's a "content" issue. :P Thanks!

• How do I get artifacts from one Maven module included in the resources of another in my build?

  I have Maven modules that produce a Flex application as an SWF file. I want to include that file in a web application that is made with another Maven module from the same build. I'm wondering how and at which lifecycle phase I get Maven to grab the artifact from the other module and put it insode the appropriate folder of the webapp module. Would I use a separate assembly module? The web app is running on a Jetty server in an OSGi environment (using Pax), the server side of the web app uses Struts. The final artifact as I see it would be a WAR file including my Action etc classes, JSP templates, static contents such as CSS or JS, and the SWF movies. I might be better off with these split over some other setup, but right now, I wouldn't know which.
