• MS SQL - Problem running SQL Server Agent Job via service account credentials

  There are 5 steps in this job. First job is an SSIS Package store, second to fifth are file system jobs. We configured all jobs to use Windows Authentication. Under Run As, we specified a user account which was created under SecurityCredentials and SQL Server AgentProxiesSSIS Package execution. The job runs without any problems with this user account. We then proceeded to configure the job to use a service account instead. Service account was specified under SecurityCredentials and SQL Server AgentProxiesSSIS Package Execution.   I’m unable to schedule a periodic launch with launchctl/launchd on OS X (Leopard). Basically, I’m unable to find a step-by-step list of instructions on the web and the intuitive approach doesn’t work. Manually executing the rsync command in the terminal yields the expected result. I’m fairly sure that the job was registered correctly because if I try to start a non-existing job, I get an error message (which I didn’t get in the above command). What did I do wrong?

• bradford persistent agent login not coming up.

  Wired connection. Desktop. It downloads and installs fine but at the point where the login is supposed to pop up. Nothing happens. Bradford says I have normal network access and it never shows it scanning. It just installs and does nothing. I have all of the updates and everything Bradford needs. And I've used the internet at this dorm before witb this computer. Tried reinstalling.disabling my firewall. Any advice would be appreciated

  How can I increase the limit of worker threads from the default 10 for SQL Server 2005 SqlAgent? I have 9 jobs that run almost continuously and that leaves only one available thread for the rest of the scheduled jobs. Oftentimes, when no thread is available, I will see the jobs in "Waiting for worker thread" state. I'd like to increase the number to about 12 (which should do the trick for me). Any idea where this is set?

• ForwardAgent in Jenkins

  I'm trying to enable ForwardAgent in the "Publish over SSH" Jenkins Plugin. This would allow jenkins to execute deployments, rsyncs and svn+ssh checkouts on remote servers. But there's no option for this in the GUI. ForwardAgent is set to yes in /etc/ssh/ssh_config and in /var/lib/jenkins/.ssh/config, but when Jenkins jobs login over ssh, the remote session does not have the key loaded in agent. ("Could not open a connection to your authentication agent.") Is there a way to force ForwardAgent, or a better way to do this (via a Jenkins slave)? Thanks for any ideas, much appreciated!

• OSSEC agent behind NAT

  I am working on an OSSEC deployment where I will have multiple agents behind 1 public IP. Below is an example of the setup Private Network OSSEC-Agent1 (192.168.1.10) OSSEC-Agent2 (192.168.50.33) OSSEC-Agent3 (10.10.10.1) Those IPs NAT to 1 public IP (1.1.1.1) Then 1.1.1.1 talks to the public OSSEC server on 2.2.2.2 I've read some OSSEC documentation talking about NAT here, but it doesn't tell me exactly what I need to know. Their example is using an entire /24 subnet and mine will mainly have multiple agents to only 1 public IP. With the setup so far, I brought Agent1 online fine and it is communicating to the OSSEC server. However Agent2 continues to fail trying to connect to 2.2.2.2. Even though when I added the key, I had the correct name for it, so I know it talked to the portal at least once for that information. I'm assuming it's just getting confused with the multiple keys to 1 public IP. I basically want to know if this is possible and/or if I'm just overlooking something simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Puppet Agent still able to connect to Master after certificate revocation

  In summary: Client connects for the first time and requests cert; on the Master, puppetca -s client is executed; Client gets the cert and completes the run successfully. Fine. But now: on the Master, puppetca -c client is executed and client's cert is not in the cert list anymore; Client connects again and can perform the run as usual; Restarting puppetmasterd doesn't solve the issue. How can I prevent client to connect once its cert has been revoked? Thanks in advance

  I'm now using msysgit because of the GUI tools, which use Putty's Pageant and PLink utilities, but I use Cygwin as a general SSH terminal. I had been using ssh-agent on Cygwin, but that means I have to enter my SSH key passphrases for both SSH key managers. Is it possible to configure all my Unix-port tools (msys, git, cygwin, Ruby Net:SSH, etc.) to use PLink/Pageant instead of ssh-agent? It seems that's the kind of thing PLink was made for, but I can't find documentation on how.

  I have a data collection job that fails when a Database on the instance is in Recovery Mode. The database in recovery is the MIRROR partner in the database mirror. The Job that fails is as follows. collection_set_1_noncached_collect_and_upload The job consists of the following steps dcexec -u -s 1 -i "INSTANCE03" EXEC [dbo].[sp syscollector purge collection logs] dcexec -u -s 1 -i "INSTANCE03" The job fails at Step 1. I have run the steps manually and they all appear to be ok. If I change the mirror database to be the principal the job completes successfully.

• BackupExec 2012 File System Archiving - Access is denied to Remote Agent

  Gentlemen, I've been struggling with a Trial version of Symantec Backup Exec 2012 for about a week now. It was installed as an upgrade to our 12.5 license, and the setup completed with no issues. The reason I upgraded is solely for the File System Archiving option as I'm working to reduce the amount of live data in my servers. Backups work A-Ok and I have followed the instructions in the Admin Manual to make sure I had filled all requirements. The account BE is running under is a member of the Local administrators group as required and has been added to the test share that I'm using to evaluate the archiving function. Testing the credentials in the job setup window always works fine, and I am able to add both regular and Admin$ shares to my Archive selection. However, every time I run the Archive job, I get the following message: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/59540229/BEXec.png I've already tried to troubleshoot DNS resolution issues as suggested in the Symantec KB to no avail. The only thing I can think of, at this point, is that a trial license doesn't allow me to use the Archiving function, although that would seem silly on their part.   in the environment where windows client computers are used to run putty to connect to multiple linux servers i'm considering moving away from password based authentication and using public/private key pairs with pass-phrases. using ssh-agent would be nice, but at the same time i'd like it to 'forget' the pass-phrases after given period of inactivity. it seems that putty's pageant does not provide such feature; what would you suggest as alternative? solutions that i'm considering: patching pageant code [might be tricky, code is probably quite rusty and project - sadly - stagnant] writing small custom application using GetLastInputInfo and killing pageant if the machine was idle for more than let's say 15 minutes [ yes, there'll be separate policy for locking the desktops as well ] using alternative ssh client and ssh agent. any suggestions? thanks!

  In my own computer, running MacOSX, I have this in ~/.ssh/config Host * ForwardAgent yes Host b1 ForwardAgent yes b1 is a virtual machine running Ubuntu 12.04. I ssh to it like this: ssh pupeno@b1 and I get logged in without being asked for a password because I already copied my public key. Due to forwarding, I should be able to ssh to pupeno@b1 from b1 and it should work, without asking me for a password, but it doesn't. It asks me for a password. What am I missing? • Linux- passwordless ssh from system (root) script

  What's the easiest way to have a system script (running as root) execute remote commands over ssh? I've written some scripts that execute commands remotely via ssh, and they work great when I run them as myself, as I've set up ssh-agent and keys for passwordless login. I'd like to call these when my laptop docks and undocks. I've been successful at running arbitrary scripts when docking/undocking, but since the ACPI event scripts run as root, trying to run my ssh script fails during authentication. I tried using sudo with the -u and -i flags to simulate running the script as my user, e.g.: sudo -u redmoskito -i /home/redmoskito/bin/remote_command which successfully finds my private key and tries to use it, but the ssh-agent credentials are still missing, so it still needs my passphrase.

  We have a setup where there are distributed Nagios running on multiple sites and are equalizing their data to the main Nagios server. The problem is it sends back the data to main Nagios server no matter if there is a state change in host or service. Is it possible to configure the slave Nagios to check the service/Host every 5 sec but send back the data only if there is a state change. Currently it is implemented by Obsess Over Hosts/Service which always runs the command which will equalize. Nagios version is 3 I am no administrator but a developer so I don't know the exact jargon so please bare with me.

  We are getting quite a few errors in our logs where the user agent is DavCInt and verb is OPTIONS. Does anyone know who/what might be making this type of request? We are using ASP.NET MVC and all of our controller actions are decorated with HttpGet or HttpPost as appropriate so a controller supporting the request is of course not found. I know I can deny verbs in the web.config but I am looking for any insight before I do so.

• Regexp that matches user-agents of end-user browsers but NOT crawlers with >90 % accuracy

  I'm trying to construct a regexp that will evaluate to true for User-Agent:s of "browsers navigated by humans", but false for bots. Needless to say the matching will not be exact, but if it gets things right in say 90 % of cases that is more than good enough. My approach so far is to target the User-Agent string of the the five major desktop browsers (MSIE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera). Specifically I want the regexp NOT to match if the user-agent is a bot (Googlebot, msnbot, etc.). Currently I'm using the following regexp which appears to achieve the desired precision: ^(Mozilla.*(Gecko|KHTML|MSIE|Presto|Trident)|Opera).*$ I've observed small number of false negatives which are mostly mobile browsers. The exceptions all match: (BlackBerry|HTC|LG|MOT|Nokia|NOKIAN|PLAYSTATION|PSP|SAMSUNG|SonyEricsson) My question is: Given the desired accuracy level, how would you improve the regexp? Can you think of any major false positives or false negatives to the given regexp? Please note that the question is specifically about regexp-based User-Agent matching. There are a bunch of other approaches to solving this problem, but those are out of the scope of this question.

I want to block certain bots via robots.txt and I am confused as to which part of the User-Agent string to use, especially for more obscure bots. Can tokens contain spaces, or did the SEOkicks folks forget a semicolon after SEOkicks-Robot? I don't actually intend on making my question specific to a couple bots - I want to know the guideline: which part of UA do I place in robots.txt for these exotic bots with UA as long as a haiku? The script runs fine when executed from the command prompt. I suspect my problem is that cron isn't starting the ssh-agent due to it's minimalist environment.
