  • android app working on simulator but not on phone

    - by raqz
i have this app that i developed and it works great on the simulator with no errors what so ever. but the moment i try to run the same on the phone for testing, the app crashes stating filenotfoundexception. it says the file /res/drawable/divider_horizontal.9.png is missing. but actually speaking, i have never referenced that file through my code. i believe its a system/os file that is unavailable. i have a custom list view, i guess its the divider there... could somebody please suggest what is wrong here. i believe this is a similar issue discussed here..but i am unable to make any sense out of it http://code.google.com/p/transdroid/issues/detail?id=14 the listview.xml layout file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout • Hide divider without hiding childDivider on ExpandableListView

    - by thomaus
I can't find a way to hide dividers on an ExpandableListView without hiding the child dividers too. Here is my code. <ExpandableListView android:id="@+id/activities_list" android:background="@android:color/transparent" android:fadingEdge="none" android:groupIndicator="@android:color/transparent" android:divider="@android:color/transparent" android:childDivider="@drawable/list_divider" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> With this code, I get no dividers on groups but no child dividers neither. If I set android:divider to "@drawable/list_divider" I get both group and child dividers. Thanks in advance!

  • android custom map marker bounds

    - by max4ever
Hello i am using a resized version of this marker( http://www.clker.com/clipart-orange-pin-4.html ) for showing markers in google maps on android. The problem is i don't know how to make the marker point match the coordinates. The arrow point is at about 1/5 of the Width coordinates and MAX of the Height. here is my class public class GestionaleItemizedOverlay extends com.google.android.maps.ItemizedOverlay { public GestionaleItemizedOverlay(Drawable defaultMarker, Context context) { //super(boundCenterBottom(defaultMarker)); super(boundCenter(defaultMarker)); this.mContext = context; } ... And this this.marker_poi = this.getContext().getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.marker); this.marker_poi.setBounds(this.marker_poi.getIntrinsicWidth() / 2, this.marker_poi.getIntrinsicHeight(), this.marker_poi.getIntrinsicWidth() / 2, 0); new GestionaleItemizedOverlay(this.poi, this.context); Do i need to setBounds on the marker before passing it to the constructor? and why does super(defaultMarker) makes all the markers not to show ?

  • image decoding problem in android

    - by achie
Some of the images are not being displayed in the web browser in android while they work fine on all other machines and mobile devices. this is an example of one of those images http://s3.amazonaws.com/itriage/logos/19/iphone_list.jpg?1261515055 So I tried to pull the image to see it if it works from code. This is what I did URL url = new URL(address); InputStream is = (InputStream) url.getContent(); Drawable d = Drawable.createFromStream(is, "src"); It works for most images but for some images including this images it gives this error D/skia (28314): --- decoder-decode returned false Why is this happening and how can I prevent this. I saw an example on the developers forum but thats when we are accessing the image directly. But what I want is the browser to handle it. So how do I encode my images on my server for the android devices to recognise them correctly?

(R.drawable.cell is actually a 20x20 PNG image containing a white cell with a silver border)

  • Getting differences between WVGA800 and WVGA854 in Android Emulator

    - by Droidy
So far I just have one XML layout file, and one drawable directory, drawable-hdpi. I first want to target the high density screens. I added a bunch of imagebuttons to a relativelayout and everything looks perfect in the WVGA800 emulator. The problem arises when I view it in the WVGA854 emulator. Not only do the imagebuttons not position the same, but the images are blurry. I used dip for the layout margins on the imagebuttons even though it shouldn't matter in this case because WVGA800 and 854 are both high density. What is the problem? Why would it look totally different on emulators that have the same density and almost have the same exact screen dimensions? Thanks!

  • Touching an object in a tweened animation?

    - by Michael
I'm having trouble porting a simple game I developed for the iPhone over to Android. The game has an animated ball which moves from Point A to Point B. The user must touch the ball before it reaches point B or lose the game. This was easy to implement on the iPhone using Core Animation since I could locate the current position of the ball by accessing its animation layer. In Android, I attempted to recreate the game using tweened animation and represented the ball as a Drawable. My issue is that I can't determine if the user is touching the spot because the Drawable apparently bounds do not update as the ball visually moves - making the program think the ball is always in its original position. While searching these forums I saw an Android team dev. confirm that you can't get the current location in a tweened animation but offered no solution for a workaround. Can I accomplish this on the Android using my current approach? If not, what approach should I use? Best regards, Michael

  • Changing Image In a Button After Being Clicked?

    Creating a game in Android using multiple Buttons to display an image from the drawable folder. I want to change the button to a different image after the button has been clicked on. Here is the button code: <Button android:id="@+id/b36" android:background="@drawable/black" android:layout_width="45px" android:layout_height="45px" /> I can't find anything about how to change the actual image of the button. You can change the color of the button by using the following code in the java file: b36.setBackgroundColor(0xAA00AA00);

  • Changing tabs in android

    - by Pavel
Hi guys. Can someone please tell me how to change tab by clicking on element INSIDE the tab? I already tried it with global data. The code looks like this: public class Tabs extends TabActivity { int tabNumber = 0; private TabHost tabHost; int returnedTabNumber = 0; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Resources res = getResources(); // Resource object to get Drawables tabHost = getTabHost(); // The activity TabHost TabHost.TabSpec spec; // Resusable TabSpec for each tab Intent intent; // Reusable Intent for each tab // Create an Intent to launch an Activity for the tab (to be reused) intent = new Intent().setClass(this, Tribocracy.class); // Initialize a TabSpec for each tab and add it to the TabHost spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("map").setIndicator("Map", res.getDrawable(R.drawable.ic_tab_artists)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); // Do the same for the other tabs intent = new Intent().setClass(this, Areas.class); spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("areas").setIndicator("Areas", res.getDrawable(R.drawable.ic_tab_albums)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); // Do the same for the other tabs intent = new Intent().setClass(this, Settings.class); spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("settings").setIndicator("Settings", res.getDrawable(R.drawable.ic_tab_albums)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); tabHost.setCurrentTab(tabNumber); } protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); GlobalData globalData = ((GlobalData)getApplicationContext()); returnedTabNumber = globalData.getTabNumber(); tabHost.setCurrentTab(returnedTabNumber); } } The global adapter looks like this: public class GlobalData extends Application { //---------------------------------------------------- private int Point1; //define the vars here private int Point2; //define the vars here private int Point3; //define the vars here private int Point4; //define the vars here private int Point5; //define the vars here private int Point6; //define the vars here private int tabNumber; public int getTabNumber() //getter of the value { return tabNumber; } public int setTabNumber(int number) //setter of the value { tabNumber = number; return tabNumber; } } Now when I'm trying to change tab in my ListActivity tab by clicking on one of the items it doesn't do anything and stays on the ListActivity tab. Perhaps I shouldn't use onResume() here. Basically I want to go to first tab when I click on one of the items in the list. Please help!

  • Changing the style attribute of a button according to its state

    - by LambergaR
I know you can change buttons background by creating a simple XML file, like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" > <item android:state_window_focused="false" android:state_enabled="true" android:drawable="@drawable/button_normal" /> <!-- ... --> </selection> I was wondering if it is possible to use a similar approach to change the style attribute of an element using the same (or similar) technique. Or, if that is not possible, how can the style attribute be changed during runtime (there is no such thing as button.setStyle(R.style.button)).

  • How to center drawableTop and text vertically on the Button in Android?

    - by Gaks
I have the Button defined as follows: <Button android:drawableTop="@drawable/ico" android:gravity="center" android:id="@+id/StartButton2x2" android:text="@string/Widget2x2StartBtnLabel" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:background="@drawable/widgetbtn_bg" /> The problem is that 'drawableTop' image is aligned to the top border of the Button view. I would like to center it (together with text label) vertically on the button. 'android:gravity' seems to work only on text label. It does not affect 'drawableTop' positioning. I was able to center it vertically using 'android:paddingTop' - but that does not seem to be a good idea. I guess it would not work properly on different screen resolution/size.

  • How can I fit an Image into another imageview

    - by user1597833
I have an imageview with a default image already set from the xml, and I want to change it's image pragmatically so that the new image will scale to the previous image size, both of the images are rounded. I have tried setting the scaleType attribute to different values before setting the new image but it didn't work. This is the xml: <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" > <ImageView android:id="@+id/up_right_circle_firstiv" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:scaleType="fitXY" android:src="@drawable/circle_medium_up" /> This is the activity code: public class MainActivity extends Activity { ImageView middleCircle; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); middleCircle = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.up_right_circle_firstiv); middleCircle.setImageResource(R.drawable.round_pic_one); } } Inside the activity. • Using selector to change TextView text color

    - by rafuru
I'm trying to use a TextView to define the style of a TabWidget on a tabhost. I just created a selector for bgcolor and works fine, but i want to make a selector for textColor but the text color don't change: This is my tab_text_selector.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" > <item android:state_selected="true" android:color="@android:color/white" /> <item android:state_focused="true" android:color="@android:color/white" /> <item android:state_pressed="true" android:color="@android:color/white" /> </selector> And this is the code when i'm trying to use on a textView: TextView txtTab=new TextView(this); txtTab.setTextColor(R.drawable.tab_text_selector); txtTab.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.tab_bg_selector); txtTab.setGravity(Gravity.CENTER); txtTab.setText("Agregar Idea"); I know the text color must be white in any case but it doesn't.

  • Customizing TabWidget in SDK 1.5, API 3

    - by Dylan McClung
I'm aware that API 3 doesn't allow a view to be set for a tab, but I still need to modify the TextView displayed as the indicator. I'd also like to change the Drawable for the tab, but I don't see a way to do it without a custom tab view as allowed in 1.6, API 4. Working with this generic example below, is there way to retrieve the TextView and modify its properties or change the drawable? TabHost tabHost = getTabHost(); TabHost.TabSpec spec; spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("nearby") .setIndicator("Nearby Activity") .setContent(R.id.nearby_list); tabHost.addTab(spec); spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("friends") .setIndicator("Friends & Favorites") .setContent(R.id.friends_list); tabHost.addTab(spec); tabHost.setCurrentTabByTag("nearby"); Thanks for any help.
