  • Understanding and Implementing a Force based graph layout algorithm

    - by zcourts
    I'm trying to implement a force base graph layout algorithm, based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force-based_algorithms_(graph_drawing) My first attempt didn't work so I looked at http://blog.ivank.net/force-based-graph-drawing-in-javascript.html and https://github.com/dhotson/springy I changed my implementation based on what I thought I understood from those two but I haven't managed to get it right and I'm hoping someone can help? JavaScript isn't my strong point so be gentle... If you're wondering why write my own. In reality I have no real reason to write my own I'm just trying to understand how the algorithm is implemented. Especially in my first link, that demo is brilliant. This is what I've come up with //support function.bind - https://developer.mozilla.org/en/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Function/bind#Compatibility if (!Function.prototype.bind) { Function.prototype.bind = function (oThis) { if (typeof this !== "function") { // closest thing possible to the ECMAScript 5 internal IsCallable function throw new TypeError("Function.prototype.bind - what is trying to be bound is not callable"); } var aArgs = Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments, 1), fToBind = this, fNOP = function () {}, fBound = function () { return fToBind.apply(this instanceof fNOP ? this : oThis || window, aArgs.concat(Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments))); }; fNOP.prototype = this.prototype; fBound.prototype = new fNOP(); return fBound; }; } (function() { var lastTime = 0; var vendors = ['ms', 'moz', 'webkit', 'o']; for(var x = 0; x < vendors.length && !window.requestAnimationFrame; ++x) { window.requestAnimationFrame = window[vendors[x]+'RequestAnimationFrame']; window.cancelAnimationFrame = window[vendors[x]+'CancelAnimationFrame'] || window[vendors[x]+'CancelRequestAnimationFrame']; } if (!window.requestAnimationFrame) window.requestAnimationFrame = function(callback, element) { var currTime = new Date().getTime(); var timeToCall = Math.max(0, 16 - (currTime - lastTime)); var id = window.setTimeout(function() { callback(currTime + timeToCall); }, timeToCall); lastTime = currTime + timeToCall; return id; }; if (!window.cancelAnimationFrame) window.cancelAnimationFrame = function(id) { clearTimeout(id); }; }()); function Graph(o){ this.options=o; this.vertices={}; this.edges={};//form {vertexID:{edgeID:edge}} } /** *Adds an edge to the graph. • CSS layout problem on Firefox with filling space between end of left column and footer

    - by Jean
    Basically, the left column is supposed to extend to the footer with the continuous red color. However, in Firefox on pages with lots of text, the column does not extend to the footer and leaves a large white gap--see site: http://library.luhs.org/JHSII/about.html I've tried readjusting the heights, creating the sticky footer, and other things I've read about on this site. So I admit that I'm stumped, and what's really odd is that the layout seems to work in IE as there is no white space! I didn't create the site, but I recently inherited it and trying to work through the mess Any help is much appreciated, here's the CSS #html,body{ margin:0; padding:0; border:0; height:100%; } #body{ background:#ffffff; min-width:965px; text-align:center; width: 600px; font: Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } #.style7{ clear:both; height:1px; overflow:hidden; line-height:1%; font-size:0px; margin-bottom:-1px; } #fullheightcontainer{ margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; text-align:left; position:relative; width:965px; height:100%; } #wrapper{ min-height:100%; height:100%; background:#660000; background-color: #660000; background-repeat: repeat; } #wrapp\65 r{ height:auto; } # html wrapper{ height:100%; } #outer{ z-index:1; position:relative; margin-left:150px; width:815px; background:#FFFFFF; height:100%; background-color: #FFFFFF; } #left{ width:151px; float:left; display:inline; position:relative; margin-left:-150px; } padding: 20px; border: 0; margin: 0 0 0 240px *>html #left{width:150px;} #container-left{ width:150px; color: #CCCCCC; } * html #left{margin-right:-3px;} #center{ width:800px; float:right; display:inline; margin-left:-1px; } #clearheadercenter{ height:125px; overflow:hidden; } #clearfootercenter{ height:50px; overflow:hidden; } #footer{ z-index:1; position:relative; clear: both; width:965px; height:50px; overflow:hidden; margin-top:-50px; background-color: #660000; } #subfooter1{ background:#FFFFCC; text-align:left; margin-left:150px; height:50px; } #header{ z-index:1; position:absolute; top:0px; width:815px; margin-left:150px; height:100px; overflow:hidden; background-color: #660000; } #subheader1{ background:#FFFFCC; text-align:center; height:70px; } #gfx_bg_middle{ top:0px; position:absolute; height:100%; overflow:hidden; width:815px; margin-left:150px; background:#FFFFFF; } # html #gfx_bg_middle{ display:none; } #floatingnav { margin: 5px 10px 5px 5px; padding: 0px 5px 5px; float: right; font: .75em/1.35em Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; height: 600px; width: 300px; } #floatingnav a { color: #630; } #floatingnav ul { margin-top: -5; } #.floatright { float: right; margin: 0 0 10px 10px; border: 1px solid #666; padding: 2px; } #outer{ word-wrap:break-word; } #table.s1 { border-width: medium; border-spacing: 2px; border-style: none; border-color: rgb(85, 0, 0); border-collapse: collapse; background-color: white; } #table.s1 th { border-width: medium; padding: 2px; border-style: groove; border-color: red; background-color: white; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; } #table.s1 td { border-width: medium; padding: 2px; border-style: groove; border-color: #660000; background-color: #FFFFFF; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; } #a:link { color: #000066; } #a:visited { color: #000066; } #p.sample { font-family: serif; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: medium; line-height: 100%; word-spacing: normal; letter-spacing: normal; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none; text-align: left; text-indent: 0ex; }

  • CSS Problem, fixed contentarea with left and right sidebar?

    - by mathiregister
    Hey guys, i really need your help with a CSS-Layout. I tried a few time, however i've no chance (and actually no idea how) to solve it. Moreover I don't even know if it's possible the way I want it! The #mainContent should always be centered horizontally in the browserwindow. It should be 1024px in width and a 100% of the windowheight. Now the difficult part. I need two divs, one on the left side, one on the right side of the #mainContent. Both should be 100% in height, but should ALWAYS have the rest of the browserwindow. If the browserwindow has only 1024px in width #navLeft and #navRight are invisible. Is that even possible, if so, HOW? thank you

  • Fluid Columns with matching height and background image

    - by JamesArmes
    I'm working on a new layout for my site that uses a header, footer and two column center region. The two columns consist of the main content area which is fluid height and width and a right sidebar which is fluid height and fixed width. I have done similar layouts before, but this one depends on using two different background images (one for the sidebar and one for the content area). Is there any way to implement this, using proper HTML & CSS, so that the background images of the two columns are always the same height, regardless of which columns content is longer? I've tried using JavaScript to simulate this, but it doesn't work so well if there are images in the content area. I would really prefer not to use this method any way. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have setup a staging environment at http://staging.jamesarmes.net/jimmyssandbox to provide an example. This environment is not my finished product, but I want to get the containers under control before I move any further

  • Zend_Dojo_Form not rendering in layout

    - by Grant Collins
    Hi, I have a quick question about adding Zend_Dojo_Form into Zend_layouts. I have a Zend_Dojo_Form that I want to display in the layout that is used for a particular controller. I can add the form to the layout without any issue however the dojo elements fail to render, as they would do if I added the form to a standard view. Is there any reason why this would be the case? Do I need to do something to the layout so that it will enable the components for this embedded form in the layout. Any other dojo enabled forms that are added in the view using this layout work fine. My form is created in the usual way: class QuickAddJobForm extends Zend_Dojo_Form{ public function init(){ $this->setName('quickaddjobfrm') ->setMethod('post') ->setAction('/addjob/start/); /*We now create the elements*/ $jobTitle = new Zend_Dojo_Form_Element_TextBox('jobtitle', array( 'trim' => true ) ); $jobTitle->setAttrib('style', 'width:200px;') ->addFilter('StripTags') ->removeDecorator('DtDdWrapper') ->removeDecorator('HtmlTag') ->removeDecorator('Label'); .... $this->addElements(array($jobTitle, ....)); In the controller I declare the layout and the form in the init function: public function init(){ $this->_helper->layout->setLayout('add-layout'); $form = new QuickAddJobForm(); $form->setDecorators(array(array('ViewScript', array('viewScript' => 'quickAddJobFormDecorator.phtml')))); $this->_helper->layout()->quickaddjob = $form; In my layout Where I want the form I have: echo $this->layout()->quickaddjob; Why would adding this form in the layout fail to render/add the Dojo elements? All that is currently being displayed are text boxes, rather than some of the other components such as ComboBoxes/FilteringSelects etc... Thanks in advance.

  • I tried to install Ubuntu (with Unity), but I couldn't select the keyboard layout on install. How can I do it?

    - by Pascual
    I can select language, (I wanted English), but I wanted to select "international (with dead tilde)" and I cannot find an option to do it unlike Xubuntu or Lubuntu. Usually, in previous editions, before unity, there were two columns ... one for selecting language and other to select the kind of layout and there was a box so you can test the keyboard. Now, there is only one column and I need the dead tilde. How can I do it? Why Ubuntu is hiding these options? Thanks

  • Android layout issue - relative widths in percent using weight

    Hi, I am supporting all orientation for the iPad app. I am adjusting the my view with autoresizingMask for orienttaion changes (main view and tabbar) . But the subviews in the main view are flowing out of the mainview in landscape mode. so i forced a "setNeedsLayout for the mainview, making subviews in mainview to fit into the mainview boundary. But the issues is that subviews added in the lower part fo mainview are not responding to touches in landscape mode, but working fine with portrait mode. Any F1 ?

I want to use the 100% of the height, as I can do with the width, but I simply don`t get it work :S At his moment I'm using min-height, but how could I use the height:100% ? What I like is that the footer is always visible, and you scroll the content. This is what I have till the moment: body { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 0.8em; background-color:#f1f1f1; } container { border:solid 2px Black; position:absolute; left:10%; width:80%; margin:auto; } header { height:20px; background: #DDDDDD; } leftBar { width: 20%; background: #669966; min-height:600px; postion:absolute; top:20px; bottom:20px; } content { float:right; background-color: #cdcde6; position:absolute; left:20%; right:0px; bottom:20px; top:20px; padding:5px; } footer { position:absolute; height:20px; } I'm reading a book about CSS, but I still don't get the part about the height :S Thanks in advance.

  • Background image layout issue

    - by gnomixa
    A client wants to have an image that takes up entire screen, on mouse over the menu would appear. The problem is the height vertical alignment for various screen sizes....What would be the most common sleek looking solution to this issue? Let's assume that the most common screen resolution for the site's audience is 1024x768 but it should look good on smaller resolutions too (specifically for laptops). Thanks!

  • CSS to Replace Table Layout for Forms

    - by Erick
    I've looked at other questions and am unable to find the solution to this. Consider this image: I want to wrap divs and stack them vertically. The GREEN div would be a wrapper on a line. The BLUE div would contain an html label and maybe icon for a tooltip. The ORANGE div would contain some sort of entry (input, select, textarea). Several of these would be stacked vertically to make up a form. I am doing this now, but I have to specify a height for the container div and that really needs to change depending on the content - considering any entry could land there. Images and other stuff could land here, as well. I have a width set on the BLUE div and the ORANGE is float:left. How can I get rid of the height on divs and let that be determined by content? Is there a better way? Changing all to something else would be difficult and would prefer a way to style all elements or something. The code I'm using is like: <div class=EntLine> <div class=EntLbl> <label for="Name">Name</label> </div> <div class=EntFld> <input type=text id="Name" /> </div> </div> The CSS looks like: .EntLine { height: 20px; position: relative; margin-top: 2px; text-align: left; white-space: nowrap; } .EntLbl { float: left; width: 120px; padding: 3px 0px 0px 3px; min-width: 120px; max-width: 120px; vertical-align: text-top; } .EntFld { float: left; height: 20px; padding: 0px; width: 200px; } Thanks!

  • CSS layout - Aligning two divs side by side

    - by Ronnie
    Hello, I have a small problem. I am trying to align two divs side by side using CSS, however, I would like the center div to be positioned horizontally central in the page, I achieved this by using: #page-wrap { margin 0 auto; } Thats worked fine. The second div I would like positioned to the left side of the central page wrap but I can't manage to do this using floats although I'm sure it is possible. Maybe its best to show the example of what I am describing: I would like to push the red div up alongside the white div. Here is my current CSS concerning these two divs, sidebar being the red div and page-wrap being the white div: #sidebar { width: 200px; height: 400px; background: red; float: left; } #page-wrap { margin: 0 auto; width: 600px; background: #ffffff; height: 400px; } Any help would be appreciated.

    - by Spredzy
    Hi all, I was wondering how to obtain this result : http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/6173/screenshot20100411at126.png This is what I tried : <RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="#CCCCCC" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_weight="0"> <Button android:id="@+id/btn_cancel" android:text="@string/cancel" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="5px" android:gravity="left" /> <Button android:id="@+id/btn_save" android:text="@string/save" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="5px" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/btn_cancel" android:gravity="right"/> </RelativeLayout> I tried to play with the layout_width properties and setting them up to fill parents both of them but did not work, if anyone has an idea ... Thank you !

  • Best way to layout in HTML forms?

    - by Jen
    I want to display an HTML form containing labelled text fields, like this: First Name: [_____________] Last Name: [_____________] Date of Birth: [________] My obvious approach is to use a <TABLE> and simply place the labels and text fields in its cells, but is there a better way, e.g. a CSS-based approach?

  • JPanel Layout Image Cutoff

    - by Trizicus
    I am adding images to a JPanel but the images are getting cut off. I was originally trying BorderLayout but that only worked for one image and adding others added image cut-off. So I switched to other layouts and the best and closest I could get was BoxLayout however that adds a very large cut-off which is not acceptable either. So basically; How can I add images (from a custom JComponent) to a custom JPanel without bad effects such as the one present in the code. Custom JPanel: import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.Graphics2D; import java.awt.event.ActionEvent; import java.awt.event.ActionListener; import java.awt.event.MouseEvent; import java.awt.event.MouseListener; import javax.swing.BoxLayout; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.Timer; public class GraphicsPanel extends JPanel implements MouseListener { private Entity test; private Timer timer; private long startTime = 0; private int numFrames = 0; private float fps = 0.0f; GraphicsPanel() { test = new Entity("test.png"); Thread t1 = new Thread(test); t1.start(); Entity ent2 = new Entity("images.jpg"); ent2.setX(150); ent2.setY(150); Thread t2 = new Thread(ent2); t2.start(); Entity ent3 = new Entity("test.png"); ent3.setX(0); ent3.setY(150); Thread t3 = new Thread(ent3); t3.start(); //ESSENTIAL setLayout(new BoxLayout(this, BoxLayout.X_AXIS)); add(test); add(ent2); add(ent3); //GAMELOOP timer = new Timer(30, new Gameloop(this)); timer.start(); addMouseListener(this); } @Override public void paintComponent(Graphics g) { super.paintComponent(g); Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g.create(); g2.setClip(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight()); g2.setColor(Color.BLACK); g2.drawString("FPS: " + fps, 1, 15); } public void getFPS() { ++numFrames; if (startTime == 0) { startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); } else { long currentTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); long delta = (currentTime - startTime); if (delta > 1000) { fps = (numFrames * 1000) / delta; numFrames = 0; startTime = currentTime; } } } public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) {} public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {} public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent e) {} public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent e) { } public void mouseExited(MouseEvent e) { } class Gameloop implements ActionListener { private GraphicsPanel gp; Gameloop(GraphicsPanel gp) { this.gp = gp; } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { try { gp.getFPS(); gp.repaint(); } catch (Exception ez) { } } } } Main class: import java.awt.EventQueue; import javax.swing.JFrame; public class MainWindow { public static void main(String[] args) { new MainWindow(); } private JFrame frame; private GraphicsPanel gp = new GraphicsPanel(); MainWindow() { EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { frame = new JFrame("Graphics Practice"); frame.setSize(680, 420); frame.setVisible(true); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.add(gp); } }); } } Custom JComponent import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Dimension; import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.Graphics2D; import java.awt.image.BufferedImage; import javax.imageio.ImageIO; import javax.swing.JComponent; public class Entity extends JComponent implements Runnable { private BufferedImage bImg; private int x = 0; private int y = 0; private int entityWidth, entityHeight; private String filename; Entity(String filename) { this.filename = filename; } public void run() { bImg = loadBImage(filename); entityWidth = bImg.getWidth(); entityHeight = bImg.getHeight(); setPreferredSize(new Dimension(entityWidth, entityHeight)); } @Override public void paintComponent(Graphics g) { super.paintComponent(g); Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D) g.create(); g2d.drawImage(bImg, x, y, null); g2d.dispose(); } public BufferedImage loadBImage(String filename) { try { bImg = ImageIO.read(getClass().getResource(filename)); } catch (Exception e) { } return bImg; } public int getEntityWidth() { return entityWidth; } public int getEntityHeight() { return entityHeight; } public int getX() { return x; } public int getY() { return y; } public void setX(int x) { this.x = x; } public void setY(int y) { this.y = y; } }

  • Can Box Layout accept size of included elements?

    - by Roman
    I used myPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(myPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); to order panels vertically (one under another one). But myPanel defined in the shown way change the included panel. In more details, it tries to set the same hight and width for the included panels. Can it be changed? Can BoxLayout adopt size of the included elements?
