MySQL function return more than 1 row

I'd like to write a MySQL stored function that returns multiple rows of data. Is this possible? It seems to be locked at 1 row -- can't even return 0 rows. For example DELIMITER // create function go() RETURNS int deterministic NO SQL BEGIN return null ; -- this doesn't return 0 rows! it returns 1 row -- return 0 ; END // DELIMITER ; Returning null from a MySQL stored proc though, doesn't return 0 rows.. it returns 1 row with the value null in it. Can I return 0, or more than 1 row from a MySQL function, how?

The return value should be a list but doesn't return as expected?! - Python newbie

Hi this must be a very simple solution that has eluded me this last hour. I've tried to build this test function where the return value of the test_cases list should match the values in the test_case_answers list but for some reason, test case 1 and test case 2 fail. When i print the return values for the test cases they return the correct answers, but for some reason test case 1 and test case 2 return False. Class; Struct; Enum confusion, what is better?

I have 46 rows of information, 2 columns each row ("Code Number", "Description"). These codes are returned to the client dependent upon the success or failure of their initial submission request. I do not want to use a database file (csv, sqlite, etc) for the storage/access. The closest type that I can think of for how I want these codes to be shown to the client is the exception class. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I can tell enums do not allow strings, though this sort of structure seemed the better option initially based on how it works (e.g. 100 = "missing name in request"). Thinking about it, creating a class might be the best modus operandi. However I would appreciate more experienced advice or direction and input from those who might have been in a similar situation. Cannot find symbol - variable

I'm new to Java, and I'm trying to get user input, store each line of input as a variable and then return each value so that it can be passed on somewhere else. When I try and compile it is telling me that it can't find the variable magnitude. I'm assuming it won't find the others either. I'm guessing that this is because I've declare the variables inside of the "try" but don't know how to get it so that the return statement accepts them. I met some trouble with a function I have written. In fact I have an array in which I have different custom values. Returning object from function

I am really confused now on how and which method to use to return object from a function. I want some feedback on the solutions for the given requirements. Scenario A: The returned object is to be stored in a variable which need not be modified during its lifetime. Thus, const Foo SomeClass::GetFoo() { return Foo(); } invoked as: someMethod() { const Foo& l_Foo = someClassPInstance->GetFoo(); //... } Scneraio B: The returned object is to be stored in a variable which will be modified during its lifetime. Thus, void SomeClass::GetFoo(Foo& a_Foo_ref) { a_Foo_ref = Foo(); } invoked as: someMethod() { Foo l_Foo; someClassPInstance-GetFoo(l_Foo); //... } I have one question here: Lets say that Foo cannot have a default constructor. Then how would you deal with that in this situation, since we cant write this anymore: Foo l_Foo Scenario C: Foo SomeClass::GetFoo() { return Foo(); } invoked as: someMethod() { Foo l_Foo = someClassPInstance->GetFoo(); //... } I think this is not the recommended approach since it would incur constructing extra temporaries. What do you think ? Also, do you recommend a better way to handle this instead ?

optimize output value using a class and public member

Suppose you have a function, and you call it a lot of times, every time the function return a big object. How to detect the root recursive call?

Say we're writing a simple recursive function fib(n) that calculates the nth Fibonacci number. Now, we want the function to print that nth number. As the same function is being called repeatedly, there has to be a condition that allows only the root call to print. The question is: how to write this condition without passing any additional arguments, or using global/static variables. So, we're dealing with something like this: int fib(int n) { if(n <= 0) return 0; int fn = 1; if(n > 2) fn = fib(n-2) + fib(n-1); if(???) cout << fn << endl; return fn; } int main() { fib(5); return 0; } I thought that the root call differs from all children by returning to a different caller, namely the main method in this example. I wanted to know whether it is possible to use this property to write the condition and how. Update: please note that this is a contrived example that only serves to present the idea. c# creating a database query METHOD

I'm not sure if im delluded but what I would like to do is create a method that will return the results of a query, so that i can reuse the connection code. As i understand it, a query returns an object but how do i pass that object back? I want to send the query into the method as a string argument, and have it return the results so that I can use them. Here's what i have which was a stab in the dark, it obviously doesn't work. This example is me trying to populate a listbox with the results of a query; the sheet name is Employees and the field/column is name. Trying to add data to sql from link click and return results via jquery or ajax

I am not familiar with jquery or ajax, but i do know it is whats needed to perform the action I want. I have created a wordpress plugin that updates a database table based on the users click. Right now it refreshes the page to return the results, but I want to stop the page refresh and return data via ajax I believe. Hello The client that calls this code is restricted and can only deal with return codes from stored procs. So, we modified our usual contract to RETURN -1 on error and default to RETURN 0 if no error If the code hits the inner catch block, then the RETURN code default to -4. Handling return value from Web Service Call Wrapper

I created this method below which makes an HTTP call to a 3rd party API. I just want opinions on if I'm handling this the best way. If the call fails, I need to return the ExistsInList bool value only if the response is not null. But in the last return statement, wouldn't I have to essentially do another return selectResponse == null ? false : selectResponse.ExistsInList; to check for null first just like the previous return in the catch? C# return and display syntax issue

I am having trouble passing the return value from TheMethod() to Main and displaying the word if the if statement is passed as true. I have thought of two ways of doing this, neither has worked but I think I am missing synatx. Using a return ?; non void method and then displaying the returned value. Using a void method and actually writing out(example below) So yes I am new at this, however I have made so many iterations everything is blending together and I have forgot what I have tried. Any help on the syntax be great for either of these ways. Basically I need it to iterate numbers 1,2,3,4 and depending on if the current iteration matches an expression in the if statements it will display a word. Hello! I've go a very simple question, but unfortunately I can't figure the answer myself. Suppose I've got some data structure that holds settings and acts like a settings map. I have a GetValue(const std::string& name) method, that returns the corresponding value. Now I'm trying to figure out - what kind of return-value approach would be better. The obvious one means making my method act like std::string GetValue(const std::string& name) and return a copy of the object and rely on RVO in performance meanings. The other one would mean making two methods std::string& GetValue(...) const std::string& GetValue(...) const which generally means duplicating code or using some evil constant casts to use one of these routines twice. #Q What would be your choice in this kind of situation and why?

How to make sure a method returns an array, even when there is only one element in Ruby

I have a Ruby method that searches an array of hashes and returns a subset of that array. def last_actions(type = 'all') actions = @actions if type == 'run' actions = actions.select {|a| a['type'] == "run" } end return actions end This works, except when there is only one action to return, in which case I don't think it is returning an array with one element, but just the element itself. This becomes problematic later. What's a good way to ensure it returns an array of 1 element in this case? Thanks.

I am having a problem with sIFR 3 not displaying in IE. I get 3 larges black XXX in IE yet it displays fine in Firefox. I have checked i do have the most recent version of flash installed correctly.
