    Hello! I have a datagridview and a combobox which get populated randomly with data. However, the new data is never displayed automatically. Someone mentioned the idea of invalidating the control to force the application to redraw it and thus iterate through the contents and populate the control with the new data. Does anyone know which is the best method for implementing auto-updating controls in windows forms applications? help greatly appreciated, regards.

If not what would be the best method to implement a gem that would make it easier to handle the responses.

    Now look at that! I am having trouble with one of the simplest goals: updating a plain TextView with the value of a SeekBar. This is my approach: @Override public void onProgressChanged(SeekBar seekBar, int progress, boolean fromUser) { if (fromUser) { mInfoText.setText(mFunction.getUserFriendlyString(progress)); } } It basically works, but it kind of blocks the whole UI when I'm dragging.     Is there an easy way to update the data source for multiple pivot tables on a single Excel sheet at the same time? All of the pivot tables reference the same named range, but I need to create a second worksheet that has the same pivot tables, but accessing a different named range. Ideally I would like to be able to do some kind of search and replace operation (like you can do on formulae), rather than updating each individual pivot table by hand. Any suggestions?

  • WPF Combobox textbox not updating when binding changes.

    I have a WPF CombBox as follows: <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource myList}}" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=mySelectedItem}" /> The problem I have is that when the bound value changes, the selected value in the combobox's textbox does not update. (Note - the values in the combobox list do update). I am using MVVM so I can detect in the view model when the binding changes and call a property changed event and this is updating the combobox, but not the value displayed within the textbox. I think this could be done in the template of the combobox - somehow make the textbox be bound to the selecteditem of the combobox, or always update when it updates? I don't know how to do this though so any advice would be most appreciated.

  • Updating a progress bar while wpf data binding is taking place (in c#)

    I bind a large dataset to a WPF list box which can take a long time (more than ten seconds). While the the data is being bound I'd like to display a circular progress bar I can't get the progress bar to show while the data binding is occurring, even though I am trying to do the binding in a backgroundworker. I tested it by making the first line of the backgroundworkd's dowork event a Thread.Sleep(5000) and sure enough the progress bar started spinning for that duration only to freeze while when the binding started. Is this because both the databinding and the UI updating have to occur on the same thread? Any ideas on how to work around it? Thanks for your help!!

  • DateTimePicker not updating dataset

    I'm binding a DateTimePicker control to my dataset (which is linked to a database). However, unless the user changes the date on that control, the dataset seems to contain null for that entry (even though the Value entry of the control isn't null). I've done a bit of googling, and there's a lot of talk about people having troubles with the DateTimePicker not supporting null values. However, I DON'T want it to support a NULL value. The column in my database table is set to "NOT NULL". It's as if the dataset isn't updating itself from the DateTimePicker control unless the user changes the date. I've tried explicitly setting the date for the control in code (using DateTimePicker.Value = DateTime.Now). This still doesn't update the dataset side. Thankyou for any help, Dan.

    I'm using an TreeListView (a sub type of ObjectListView) in my current project. Each item in the list is given an icon, but the icon my vary depending on the state of the item. For example if the item is readonly I want to use an icon with a little lock symbol. When the items are first added to the TreeListView the icons are show correctly, yet later when the state of an item changes the icons are not updating. How do I force the control to regenerate all the icons?

(i am using Hiberante 3.3.1-GA) my model have these getters/setters for hibernate, i.e. internally i deal with byte[] so any getter/setter convert the byte[] to blog. I can create an initial object without problem, but if I try to change the content of the blob, the database column is not updated.   • WPF -- Event Threading, GUI updating question

    I'm trying to send two events to the main window so that I can show some kind of animation that will let the user know that I'm updating the data. This is an ObservableCollection object so the OnPropertyChanged is immediately picked up by the bindings on the main window. The sleep is only in there so that the user can see the animation. However, the first OnPropetyChanged is never seen. I'm assuming this is because we're in a single thread here and the timer_Tick has to finish before the GUI updates. Any suggetions? In VB6 land we would use a DoEvents or a Form.Refresh.   • updating score in card game

    I am a total beginner with python. I need help updating the score of a card game. The scoring works as follows: Player A or B has a pair: score += 1 Player A asks Player B (vice versa) for a card and that player has it: score += 1 Player B doesn't have it, Player A has to draw a card. If there is pair after draw: score += 2 I have the logic down but I don't really know how to connect it together. I tried manually adding the scores in my functions, but it get's messy and complicated :( I assume I would have to make a new function for the score and call them in my other functions? NSLog shows that the data was saved and retrieved correctly. I've even set bToggle.selectedSegmentIndex = 1; but it still does not reflect correctly in the view? Any ideas?
